  1. Pedro

Easy to setup and sounds great! Worth the money. Need powered HDMI if you are using 40 foot cable like I am. If not you will not be able to use it in mode 1.

  2. Zdriver96

This is my second almost identical experience shopping BB online. Receiver was listed in “Excellent, like New” condition. I received the receiver in horrible damaged condition. Not sure BB is shipping these expensive electronics so poorly packaged? Waste of time and resources.

  3. McCringleberry

In typical Yamaha fashion, the user interface and remote are excellent. The thing is heavy, weighing around 50 pounds by my estimate, but that means there’s some serious hardware in there. One feature I wish it had would be the ability to change the mute function into a 20 or 40db attenuation instead of a full mute.

  4. GusGus

This receiver delivers amazing sound quality! It’s a great addition to control my surround sound and Sony OLED TV.

  5. BIgDogDaddy

I have buying yamaha receivera for years. This new model is an excellent receiver with lots of hdmi inputs but still has legacy connections for old gaming units. Sound quality is excellent and the speaker setup is easy.

  6. curtis

This is the second large priced product I’ve purchased in the last six months, Best Buy is one of the best electronic sellers of our time. I feel that you are committed to pleasing your customers in every way.

  7. Jeeper

Does everything and more than expected….drives my speakers to new levels…VERY happy with this purchase!

  8. Jbblanke

Awesome! People who say it’s not probably don’t know how to set up a AVR. It is a beast. It’s expensive but like Grand Pappy used to say,
You get what you pay for.

  9. HiF1Ed

I love Yamaha but this receiver did not deliver on the 8k or 4k120 claims promised and advertised. Yamaha has advised that there is an updated board for units that were manufactured without right part but this is a major inconvenience. The sound quality is spectacular but not enough to salvage this unit. The control are absurdly complicated, for instance, you cannot directly access specific inputs as with previous generation Yamaha receivers. Instead, you would need to scroll through several inputs to find the right one. Lastly the LCD screen on the front from my perspective is too small. This depends on your sitting distance but I imagine the majority of customers who buy such a powerful unit do not sit right in front of it so they can read this screen. I am not sure the value of such a large volume knob in the middle of the unit. In my view, increasing the size of the screen has a practical use case for the operator.

  10. Glade

Nice receiver, lots of inputs. Work with MusicCast app so I can control several rooms from one location.

  11. Unknown

It is a great AV Receiver upgraded to my 10 years old Yamaha RX A2010 RECEIVER.
Plenty of power tp drive 9.2 channels plus 2 additional 2 zones.
It is expensive is only negative if my review.

  12. Ernie

So very glad I purchased this receiver. It has everything I was looking for at a somewhat reasonable price.

  13. Jeff

I love my Yamaha. I like the sound of the Yamaha compared to other brands. I bought the Denon X4700 first but like the Yamaha way better.

  14. WilliamR

Was lucky enough to get this early on and its the best Receiver I have owned. Internet Radio is pretty cool too. Should last several years and plenty of power. Getting Atmos soon to take full advantage.

  15. Kwadom

This AV receiver is a beast. Completed my 11.2 setup by adding a 2ch power amp. Really enjoying my home theater setup.

  16. CarlS

Outstanding sound qulity and performance. Extra high quality and fidelity. Great video out pyt up to 8K with 4K, 3D and all sound offerings – just like at the IMAX. 7 HDMI, 2 USB, Apple Air, Componet in. 9.2 suround Dolby Tx, Atmois, THX Outstatnding sound and video for my home theater with connection to all my components and wifi streaming

  17. Cptnovius

Got this when it first came out. Was aware that it would not have all the features for gaming that i bought it for. The firmware has been updated and has the feature i was waiting for. Solid well built unit easy to use. plenty of power for my magnapan speakers. Noticed it more expensive than when i bought it. Glad i puchased when i did.

  18. Besty

Best AVR for mid range to pro audio video speaker system. Compared it with Denon and Marantz and bought this for the price and software updates

  19. Mark

When paired with the DefTech BiPolar speakers in a 5.2.4 system, this receiver creates a dome of theatrical escape.

The initial setup took a bit of love to get dialed in. But, once you hit that magic zone of completely enveloped in immersive detail via Atmos or Aura 3D, you are hooked.

NowI have enjoyed other brands And models, but to me, the A6A ticks every mark in actual performance.

The 4K 120 allows the gamers in the fam to be wowed with the latest Xbox and PS4, and the 8K chops have me covered for the future.

But, for this home theater fanatic, it is all about that genuine environmental finesse that somehow puts Yamaha over the top.

There is no way to describe the feeling of being in the scene as opposed to viewing it.

This my friends, you must experience for yourself.

Honestly, I feel one of the biggest factors for a home theater such as mine. I’m not overpowering a less powerful receiver to get that big sound.

I am simply dialing in the correct receiver for my level of detail. The power is simply there in spades.

Of course this is not for everyone. Budgets are budgets.

But, I am so happy I invested in one that will be with me for several years.

  20. GaryS

Very flexible regarding surround decoding and excellent sound musically.

  21. Sams

Sound and Pictures quality are amazing. Enough power for the big speakers to be plsced in mid to large size room home theater. Very satisfied with the performance.

  22. Mistereo1

Great receiver- but if your into technology you’ll be fused bt r the system setup like the old school units. Took some time but I figured out how this unit works.
You need a in-house geek squad technology to understand how to setup this power house system. I did finally figure it out with the online 450 page manual. Once I figured it out the sound is great. The zone setup is another thing. Once I figured that out it was down hill from there – I can set up the zones for movies and the games fr our crowd of a family.
If you want a challenge then this unit is for you. If not then let the geek squad come out for the $200 charge to setup up and they’ll do the job for you !! Enjoy if you pick up this unit up. Oh there is an online GUI interface also to run the system, so have fun!!

  23. Deuxbits

The unit has great sound. This is the first Yamaha receiver I’ve owned where a guest remarked at the spectacular sound. Beyond that I’ve been disappointed. The remote is ridiculous with no direct access to the individual input sources! (You can use the Musiccast app after several clicks). Then the front panel display has been reduced to a barely informative small panel. They’ve taken away front panel access to hook up a temporary source. There is limited ability to re-assign sound inputs to video. There is only one component video input. And then there is the weird AI function which optimizes sound profile continuously depending on content, I turned it off since I don’t want some AI’s opinion of how it should sound best. I suspect BS. And finally, the Spotify interface is very nice but sometimes seems to require a full reset despite using a wired network interface. The remote is the most vexing.

  24. Terracode

Excellent receiver. Previously owned RX-A2050. Nice upgrade with impressive features.

  25. Chris

I was going to buy the A8A, but didn’t want to spend the extra $1k. This unit will process 11 channels, but only powers 9. I simply needed to add a two channel amplifier to power the rear Atmos speakers. I purchased an AudioSource AD1002, for a little more than $100, which had a similar output. I have mostly Klipsch speakers, including two Klipsch R120-SW subs. The resulting sound is stunning.

  26. RonaldlS

Best receiver yet.Replaces my Denon x6500h. About the same power and close to the same setup. Love the lit remote and plays well with other components. 8 senses to switch between operations from cable, to streaming , to listening to music thru airplay. I bought to amplify my front speakers and offers balanced ports for quiet hook up. This receiver has less bugs than my Denon and works well after a few adjustments and minor setup. Works better than the reviews I seen and Ive had it set up a working flawless now for the last 6 weeks without a glitch. Not my first reciever , so it only took me an hour to run YPAO to setup the speakers . It may take a new comer longer but the manuel is on line and you can upload Web Controler on your computer and thru WiFi , set up all your Sense to turn on the same way everytime the way you set it up to work. Works great ….

  27. ExcellentPurchase

After buying the Onkyo TX-RZ50, the Denon AVR-X4700H, and then the Arcam AVR21, all returned, we bought the Yamaha RX-A6A – the best purchase ever!

The Onkyo was too thin sounding & the power plug fit loosely on the unit. The Denon had zero musicality and was also thin sounding. The Arcam was very forward vocally – too much so, but was built like a tank – I would reconsider the Aracm if our room was much bigger as it handled movies very well.

We opined on “why we just couldn’t upgrade our existing Yamaha RX-V3900 with Dolby Atmos, etc. and sound just as good?” Once we purchased the Yamaha A6A our wish came true! The A6A sounded just like our original Yamaha but with much more accuracy and that warm, amazing sound! What a fantastic upgrade!

Be sure to set it up correctly – it takes time!
Don’t hesitate to buy this gem!

  28. TerryS

One of the best receivers that I have ever had so far. Great sound and quality product.

  29. DonaldB

This receiver has a lot of features and a super lot of power it is real nice money well spent

  30. Bonedaddie

I am-in the process of upgrading my sound system and had to choose a beast to fill my needs. The Yamaha Rx-A6 filled that need by providing me with the power and ability to connect the required equipment.

  31. Enigma

I usually buy Marantz but I needed a balanced output for my Parasound amp and only Yamaha Aventage RX A6A and A8A have this feature so I didn’t have much choice. I bought the system after all the HDMI 2.1 features were fixed so no complaints there. eARC works great and no HDMI 2.1 issues at all. The setup was easy and the sound is good I do think I prefer the Marantz. Set up features are amazing it has a web interface no more fumbling around on the screen using your remote to set up the receiver.

Cons: having some odd Center channel sounds every so often almost like a vibration in the sound. Also, have an issue where you cant set Pure mode per source I use it when I am listing to my steamer and want to bypass the subs so I have to turn it on and off each time I listen to music and then switch back to movies. Also having an issue with pure mode using my center channel when listing to music usually it’s just the fronts and the subs. This may be the surround AI feature. Also, I don’t like how limited the amp setting are when I choose 7.2.2 with an external front amp I cant also choose to have an additional external amp setting it still allows you to use the preouts though.

Overall great system but its overpriced like everything else these days, if it wasn’t for the balanced inputs I would have probably made do with my Marantz or waited for the newer Marantz receivers to go on sale.

  32. Valuebuy

Great product, as expected. I am an audiophile. Really happy with Auro-3D, and other sound decoder effects.
Love the multicast feature as you don’t need to keep the TV on if you are listening to music from streaming service or airplay.

  33. Junk1

Sounds great very happy with my purchaes. Would buy it again.

  34. rals821

I been looking at this Yamaha receiver for a while. Finally got it. This is my 7 Yamaha receiver so yes im a fan of Yamaha. The sound is always good.the price is worth it. Lots of feathers. Lots to fo. The power is perfect. At first its a bit complicated to use when you first start bit as technology gets better we must move forward and lean the new things. But overall its easy . Lots of fun .

  35. Drakito

This is my second Yamaha Pro receiver in 20 years. Fantastic sound quality, tons of adjustability, 9 channel powered out with 11 plus line level out. Upscales the other video inputs to HDMI, has awesome network connectivity to my home server for media. I’m not even using this receiver to 100% at all. My old pro receiver did not have any HDMI ins as it was from 2002. Just digital audio.
On the technical side it has a noise floor so low I couldn’t hear it. The YPOA sound field setup dialed in all my speakers distances, crossovers, eqs, and allowed me to custom tune my sweet spot to be large and work across all the main home theater seats. Even though YPOA decided on some of the settings, you can manually adjust them as you want to tweak it perfectly. On my full NHT speaker set it just sings.

  36. RussellM

Absolutely fantastic sound and features. This replaced my 12 year old Yamaha HTR 6090 and the difference is incredible. It easily handles my B&W and SVS speaker array along with the SVS Subwoofer and the sound is amazing.

  37. Goos

I bought this after burning up two expensive Denons. and this thing is a beast! Absolutely love it worth every penny.

  38. JoshJ

I bought the RX-A6A to replace a 6-year old Yamaha Aventage and what an upgrade. The set up was easy if you are upgrading from another Yamaha receiver. The sound and picture are so much better and so worth the upgrade if your budget can allow. I’m still tweaking and getting everything how I want it, but I’m impressed with the technology and the customization. I’m a huge Yamaha fan and love the Yamaha sound. If you are on the fence with this receiver, don’t hesitate!

  39. Mark

Love this reciever, sounds amazing and makes you feel like you are right there in the acting

  40. Rahul

Very well built, lots of connections for better configurations. AI is not very useful as much as I feel. Good separation for speakers to create a good soundstage.

  41. Bakersman

This receiver is loaded with more customizations than I will ever use. The ability to have multiple zones going with different applications is the main reason I chose this model. I replaced a 10 year old onkyo that was melting hdmi cables and just out of date.

  42. MarvelMovieFan

Fantastic receiver, it is amazing. I am still exploring all of the features it has and am awestruck at what it can do. It supports numerous devices and the range of settings it can be tweaked to are incredible. I don’t believe you can go wrong purchasing this receiver.

  43. fyl2112fyl

The amp itself is great. I had to return my original when video out from either HDMI1and2 out stopped being sent.

The amp is balsy, having plenty of power! The Dolby Atmos is amazing.

The only real downside is there is no IOS or Android App to control it, you are relegated to the remote.

  44. FloydS

Excellent site performance. I am in Joy controlling my complete system with just one remote.

  45. Qpnl

It’s a good receiver, but lacks a lot of umph in clear sound that I was expecting

  46. MichealW

Yahama is a great product just don’t purchase it a Best Buy they need a name change Worst Buy

  47. Name

Sounds great, a little complicated to set up. You can’t adjust all the speaker/surround settings for the tv connection in real time without an additional monitor or at least I have not been able to figure out how to. I am assuming you need to hook up an additional monitor. I havent tried but the settings displays on the tv so you need to change the tv input to allow the settings from the unit to appear. Maybe it is a tv issue. It is not as powerful as I had thought it would be. Still hit 109 db in the house. Plenty loud enough.

  48. GaryW

Simply awesome performance. Display could be latger.

  49. Unknown

First unit had a defective center channel. Replacement unit works great. Wife doesn’t have an ear for audio and immediately noticed the surround difference from our older denon. If she is impressed, this box is pretty amazing

  50. ZacharysK

I bought this to replace my Yamaha receiver I had been using since 2010. Absolutely nothing wrong with it but after a decade of technology advances, I really wanted a receiver that could handle 4K signals at the sound performance levels I had been enjoying. Seemed the obvious choice to stick with Yamaha and once again I went with the flagship series. The immediate notice of improvement in sound quality was astounding! Yamaha has seriously stepped things up in an era where I feel “entry level” home theatre systems has not been as large a priority. I’ve had it over a year now and I am beyond happy with the purchase. As far as Yamaha quality, my old receiver is still working perfectly and all of my original purchase NS series Yamaha speakers are still being used for my home theatre. Over a decade later they still pump out crisp and clear sound with no distortion and somehow sound even better with this new receiver.
