Very nice quality as always with Yamaha! I have another Yamaha receiver that I have had for 20+ years.

This is one hefty AVR, make sure you measure your space before making a purchase. However, the monster size comes with monster sound. All HDMI inputs/outs are 2.1 ready at 40gbps. Support for all the audio codecs minus Auro 3D (included in the two bigger brother models), along with the latest gaming features via released firmware. This beautifully built monster from Yamaha will turn your space into a thunderous theater or spacious concert hall as audio is pushed out with authority and surgical precision, enhanced with the dedicated DSP and Surround AI. Delivering a sound stage so wide you are transported into a bubble immersed in your listening. Set up is blissfully simple with the supplied YPAO mic and stand.

YAMAHA Receivers has always been my go to for Surround Sound, the sound is excellent it formore exceeds all other receivers especially, when installed right.
Arcturus –
Decent piece. A bit large but nice remote. Better than a comparable Denon
Hello45 –
Solid receiver. Have had it a while now. Not sure it is the best as it is limited on features compared to others in this price range, but Yamaha charges more. Had a Denon but had to change due to hdmi issues. This handles hdmi better, but still not perfect.
ajrobinson –
Fabulous receiver with all of the features we needed to upgrade our home theater system.

Switched from NAD. In theater room, easy set up. Excellent speed, and sound is superb. Definitely better than the NAD T758.
ErnestB –
Good value. Excellent sound and options for the price.
EdwardA –
Excellent receiver. A little bit pricey but I got it on black Friday deal. Been using a yamaha rx-671 for about 10 years and now I have had no regrets with yamaha gear.
CoachMic –
Replaced a JVC that was over 20 years old with this. Perfect fit with the speakers and tv and gaming system.
Anthony –
Excellent receiver with great features I haven’t had mine for long but I am impressed thus far.
RyanS –
Excellent sound quality for movies and music. Plenty of power for large floorstanding speakers.

This is the lowest model in the Aventage line. I know there is the A2A but that is not really what I consider Aventage level. The A2A is basically a V6A. But this A4A is all Aventage. The internal design and high quality components make this a high end reciever. The sound quality is shockingly good. It is clear and powerful with that smooth, natural Yamaha sound I like. The version of YPAO it has actually works well. Just need a small amount of fine tuning. After connecting to my home network it prompted me to update the firmware which enabled HDMI 2.1 on all 7 inputs. And they work perfect passing 4K120, VRR and ALLM from my PS5 without issue. The MusicCast app is great especially since the front panel display is small now. I personally like the big volume knob but some may not. This receiver is not cheap with the current inflation but it offers so much performance. The reason to get an Aventage over the competition in the same price range would be personal preference in the way it sounds. To me the competitors sound too sterile and almost too accurate. Yamaha sound is much more pleasant to my ear.

Had a brand new Denon and I had nothing but problems, so after a couple months I returned and I went to Best Buy and bought the Yamaha receiver and so far I’m impressed with it !!!
Harry –
Great unit with excellent sound. Easy to configure.
RichardG –
This receiver is everything I expected. The sound quality is awesome.
Chris –
great receiver, works with 2 zones so i can control inside and outside speakers with remote no problem.
FallenHero –
Love the sound of this receiver! The Aventage line of receivers are fantastic!
MaxH –
Incredible clarity and power. Would purchase this again.
TJSawyer –
Good receiver, just not as good as the higher end. Good for the price.
Stacey –
Does this have Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos? What does a use for sound calibration?
PflugerGeek –
So far so good. I purchased this receiver to replace a Denon receiver that failed after 1 year. Thus I perceive it’s a little premature to review this Yamaha receiver. I must admit I have not found an app that controls this receiver which I was able to easily do with my Denon.
The Denon I sent to the repair shop and sold thereafter. I don’t believe in product that fail especially premium priced products.
I hope this Yamaha provides reliable use for many years. If not I’ll update this review. So far the sound is beautiful.

Great product, clear music and video does an excellent job.

I’m finally able to push my Klipsch Synergy F3 speakers! Had an older 2008 model Yamaha amp and finally upgraded. No regrets whatsoever.

This unit replaced a 15 year old Yamaha RX V 2700, which was on pretty much 24/7. The display got too old to see. This thing blows it away. I used the YPAO, and the results are amazing. Clarity, localization, and everything else is just off the charts. I have nice speakers ( Scan Speak and Morel ) so the truth is being heard. Just great for movies and music. The dual output HDMI is very useful. We have a projector on the patio for outdoor movies, with just two speakers – the mix down to stereo is excellent. 100% worth the money.

I’m coming from a Yamaha RX-A1060 and my reason is so that I can enjoy the 120hz refresh rate for gaming and watching 4K videos. The Pros the 120hz refresh rate is available for all 7 inputs. The sound quality is great. It has no problem powering my Klipsch 7 channel w/3 subs set up (however my neighbor upstairs is not too fond of it lol). The small Cons the screen on the receiver is very small. Gone is the ability to select your inputs with one push of a button on your remote (the app is available for that). The learning curve is little steeper than the A1060. Overall the cons wasn’t a dealer beaker. I purchase this receiver as an open box which was a win win for me. I would recommend this Aventage home theater receiver just please carefully read the manual to familiarize yourself with the operation of this component to save yourself a few headaches during the set up process.

Great sound system! Sounds fantastic! Like I am in a high end theaters!
MichaelE –
Many things wrong with this shipment: wrong model receiver, wrong manual, bent WiFi antennas, poorly packed… definitely won’t buy Open Box from Best Buy ever again!
Dexter586 –
This receiver replaced a 25 year old Yamaha Receiver. It works great and has more power than I will ever use. The display is clear and easy to read.
PaoloN –
Great receiver with an excellent experience with connection and an great sound
Surround –
Great sound, I really like the ability to control many inputs with the remote. Plenty of power to push the speakers to their maximum. The setup was a breeze with online instructions. The microphone to monitor the sound, and set the equalizer changed the room to its best
WJBushSr –
Excellent in every way!
The unit gives my Klipsch speakers a warm sound, by that I mean it sounds very natural in the tones.
The remote is backlit (a nice surprise) and is very straightforward.
The onscreen setup also includes a ? feature that answers the questions about certain features.
GuyK –
I’ve never been disappointed in Yamaha and this receiver is as awesome as the rest. We take pride in using these with our clients in their conference rooms and how they sound. You won’t regret choosing a Yamaha receiver!
NeilV –
3rd Yamaha Receiver and it still doesn’t disappoint. Solid full sound especially with movies.

Yamaha Avr A4A was in stock and personnel helped me get it into my Jeep after the process to apply for a Best Buy CC. Being a member also payed for its self with a discount on the AVR.

I am still learning about my 5.2.1 setup but let me tell you this receiver will blow your ears out. Sound quality is great. I am glad my neighbor recommended this. It was between this and a onkyo receiver but I think I chose the right one. I am enjoying my movies the rightvway now. I had a denon receievr bjt felt i needed more power for my klipsch speakers. This gets the job done.

I have been a fan of Yamaha products for many years. We were very happy with our last Aventage receiver, but lightening killed our ARC channel.
I was once told that the Aventage receivers were the same as the Yamaha equivalents, except they had a better warranty. That is far from the truth.
We purchased the Yamaha version, as we didn’t want to wait for shipping. We were later advised that there is a big difference between the lines, so we ordered this unit. The difference is big!
As far as quality, the remote is even more solid. It’s heavier and feels sturdy. It has more buttons for easier navigation.
The unit itself has more settings options. It is easier to dial in that perfect sound, but the unit already has great sound. It’s better with some tweaking.
I am extremely happy with this unit!
AlyssaK –
Amazing sound and functionality. Really happy with the quality well worth every penny. Of course geek squad installed it with no issues.
BigMan78 –
Awesome receiver worth the asking price buy it you won’t be disappointed

The RX-A4A offers tons of connections, multi-zone capabilities, and MusicCast streaming on board. I have a 5.1-speaker setup in my living room, and when I connected this receiver as a preamp to my existing multichannel amp, I noticed clean, smooth sound from movies.
New144 –
This receiver is much more robust when compared to the Yamaha RX family. So far any issues and sound is really great.
BrueS –
Way better than lower model. Controller is a little large, but nice. Worth it
BayardoV –
Amazing amplifier. You need to have the time to read the manual, setup features according to your best desires. You can setup each channel with different sound effect.
BillE –
I was looking for a new receiver to replace my 22 year old Sony 444 ES. After reading the reviews, and asking the Yamaha tech department for the best choice to handle my current 5.1 surround sound, the recommended RX was the Aventage RX-A4A. The difference now in my home theater is amazing, and my DVDs now have a new life!
TimC –
crew was great.
long existing issue has been resolved
Oceanside store manager understood the issue, and developed solution that led to the very positive outcome

I spent quite some time looking at replacements for my Yamaha AVR from 2006. Ultimately decided to stick with Yamaha. I was most concerned with the new look of the Aventage lineup but seeing it in my entertainment center, its style is actually pretty cool. I was also concerned 110 watts per channel would not be sufficient to drive my speakers. Realistically, I rarely listen to music or movies at an ultra loud volume but the system still delivers! If you’re on the fence with which AVR you should get, this one is the best for the price. I read a lot of positive reviews about Dirac but YPAO is still pretty darn good.
Soundfan –
Highly recommend the Yamaha RX-A4A. At this price point it is truly exceptional. I’m only using it as an amplifier for my hifi system, and it works great. Simply connected it to a PC monitor with an HDMI cable for setup, which was a breeze.
Coneman –
great looking receiver no manual though. super deep receiver and I had to make adjustments to my cabinets. It does sound great and great phone app.
