Happy with this purchase i researched the receiver for about a year and glad i bought it replaced a 10yr Onkyo
JPHOME –
Amazing AVR with super sound and features. Yamaha does a quality job with their consumer products.
cheesypoofs3d –
Sound was great.
However, if you are looking at full HDMI 2.1 functionality, look elsewhere. This would not pass PS5 nor Xbox Series X VRR and 120Hz.
Finding some info online elsewhere has the limitation being 24Gbps, not the full 48.
Sadly, had to return.
MarthaC –
sound is awesome, very crisp and clear. Great deal for the cost.

Slam dunk installers were the best. Would recommend

Great receiver, I have a 5.2.2 setup and this works great for that; I will say you need to make sure to setup the receiver to get the most benefits. This can be confusing, I did find a great resource online “YPAO lost manual”, which walked me through all the steps. I also found the flat DSP setting to be best for carpeted rooms, along with crossover set at 60 hertz for my front larger two bookshelfs (set as small in options). Play with these settings as well. The remote is large and mostly only used for the setup, I would recommend the MusicCast app as well, if only to adjust the settings easier without having to use the remote.

Did not come with Manual. Really hard to set up without the manual.

I purchased this unit as an “OPEN BOX” Excellent Condition. I saved $250.00 off the original price. This unit is functioning beautifully and sounds great. It has tons of bells and whistles. It also came with a 3 year warranty on parts and labor. I am extremely happy with my purchase and I would recommend this unit to my family and friends.

I am very happy with this product. You can never go wrong with yamaha a4a aventage. Been a yamaha fan for years now and I got it on black Friday deal. Absolutely no regrets.
NayanS –
Worst purchase ever. Nothing but headaches even with multiple service call.
GoBlue –
Very happy with purchase. Works well with my existing components.

So far, I love everything about this AV receiver. It has a handsome appearance and very easy to configure. In addition the audio quality is excellent. I did a lot of homework to get a system that gave the features I wanted at my price point.
MediaGeek11 –
Set-up was a bit more complicated then it needed to be. The auto function rarely picks up the digital processing needed. Would appreciate more power per speaker. Good, but I will be exchanging.
Juice27 –
A great mid ramge receiver. I like the fact that it comes with an additional HDMI port with 7 total. Most receivers give you only 6. The sound that it generates is crstal clear. The swt up might be a bit time consuming but once thevset up is twicked, you do get great overall sound. The Music Cast that it build in with allows you to use external devices like your phone or tablet to control the receiver.

After purchasing this unit I realized this is essentially an RX-V6A with an Aventage chassis, slighty better amp and power supply. Not worth the nearly $500 increase. The sound quality, video quality and features are no better. In my opinion this is not an Aventage. I returned this and purchased an A4A and it is far better. I was surprised how much better the A4A sounds.
JoelA –
a little confusing sometimes getting it to work with TV but when you do the sound is amazing
NormanR –
Excellent high quality device. Improved sound and HD performance of new smart 8K HD TV
sjquinonez –
An amazing AVR with great options and lots of power. Your entertainment system will thank you.
Stuff –
Love the look and ease of use. Recognizes all my gaming consoles and displays their names. Sound quality is good and output is plenty.
StephanieP –
Excellent quality. May need cell app updates frequently but easy physical setup. Highly recommend
TimO –
The receiver has eARC and several HDMI inputs, as well as a digital coaxial and a few analog RCA audio inputs and a phono input. HDMI control is nice because if you turn on your TV, it will turn on the receiver, and also turning on an HDMI connected device will switch to that input. The room and speakers have more influence on the sound, but for what it’s worth, this sounds good and has enough channels for Dolby Atmos/5.1 setups. The only things that frustrate me about this unit are the manual (which was pretty useless), the apps (which do not work the way they are advertised in a video I saw), and the fact that it sometimes takes a while to connect to my TCL TV, though that may not be Yamaha’s fault.
JeffZ –
Probably should give 4.5 stars. Except for a sorry install manual that has you searching several hundred pages and multiple places to solve or correctly program one function it would be a true 5 stars. Plenty of power for a mid level all Klipsch ATMOS setup. Use the auto set up microphone to get speaker distance and crossover calibration and fine tune to your preferences. The dialog lift settings put the voice dead center of the TV.

I have been a Yamaha fan for years and so it was an easy choice to pick this AV receiver. It sounds as good as it looks. I am having a little issue seeing the smaller screen on the front panel. Other than that, it is a great unit.
ErickM –
Replaced my 10 year old unit with this new one . My home theater really woke up which I wasn’t expecting. Great reciever and highly recommend.
user161259 –
This was an open box item that was $200 less than a new one. Unfortunately the person who returned the item altered the factory specifications so it didn’t operate correctly. I spent many hours trying to figure out what was wrong and had to contact the Yamaha customer service and it took two days and two call to resolve the problem. If Bestbuy would have made sure that it was restored to the original condition before reselling it I wouldn’t have had the aggravation and waste of time.
RandyH –
Brief use found excellence sound and so on, but sound not quite up to high level of Audio Research tube amp (impossible test, perhaps). For the price, I wanted tops-plus..
TimC –
Excellent sound and picture pass through. Interface works well to control multiple devices with a single remote.
KeCC –
This receiver replaced a Denon brand, so far, so good, (but it’s still early)
TimF –
Replacement of earlier Toshiba that quit working (no help forthcoming from Toshiba). New unit really doesn’t do a very good job. Added to that, the set up isn’t user friendly. Wish i had not purchased the new unit.
Timbo –
Can be complicated menu for novices. If not familar with Yamaha menu setups can cause issue’s
BruceS –
Very pleased with the performance and quality of the Yamaha RX-A2A. Great addition to my system. It offers numerous features all that enhance the listening experience.
Lkusler –
I love the upgrade to my new Yamaha receiver. I had one prior but as electronics go, older equipment gets dated and doesnt perform as good.
Geek squad installed it for us and did a great job.
EdwinB –
Came on time fixed the problem
You’re making the review process a pain in the a—
Jw423 –
Pretty good unit. only complaint is the HDMI switching is a little buggy at times. No signal detected from LGE OLED tv on occasion. A quick shutdown of everything and back on solves the issue.
WilmaS –
IT DOES EVERYTHING! I absolutely love this receiver!!!
Mrnyknicks –
Good receiver, met all my needs. He has enough inputs, and all the media connections work well.
MikeE –
I got this after having Onkyo, denon and a 1996 Yamaha.
RichardC –
I love the Yamaha brand so much that I gave this model 3 chances and the HDMI board went out on all 3 after one week. 3 strikes you’re out.
Very disappointed
Bleehow –
Yamaha went down after about a year and a half. Not interface friendly.
HAPPYCAMPER –
BOTH TECH’S WE’RE SPOT ON WITH CARE AND SERVICE WHEN EXCHANGING THE NEW SYSTEM…THANK YOU
JamieK –
Outstanding mid-range AV receiver! Setup was easy to convert in our media room. Sound calibration and channel tests were a 1st time success. Powerful!
Disappointed –
A little too much. after buying this and bringing it home I realized this is too sophisticated for my needs. It is high quality but had features I would never use. I returned this and bought a simpler Yamaha receiver.
Jarrod626 –
I needed to update my 10 year old Yamaha A/V reciver, to take advantage of 4K+ pass through. I figured I may as well be prepared for another 10 years so I chose the A2A over the V6A for 8K handling. The sound quality is very clear and it has lots of power. I now have HDMI inputs to spare, and I’ll be looking into hieght visualization speakers soon, so I can take advantage of Dolby Atmos. Music Cast is new to me and I love it! PS5 looks great, no video degradation or lag. I am a big Yamaha fan. I’ve owned, many motorcycles, instruments and cars (SHO). They just know how to build a great product.
JamesE –
Junk my second Yamaha Reciever I had to return it right away as it did not work
EricM –
Best receiver I have ever had, very good quality for the price
AMmm –
Not convenient operating very large old school remote control and not easy to setup the menus.
I wish to have some basic controls on front panel.
MichelleM –
HDMI is a bit glitchy and software a bit slow. Has a warm sound we do love though. Sounds great for movies and music, not just one or the other like other receivers.
JenniferK –
The unit works well for what I wanted. I use it to drive my 5 ceiling speakers through an eARC HDMI link.
However, the user guide is pretty much useless. And after a month I still can’t get any reaction out of the remote’s “setup” button, to name one.
BigMike –
I bought this receiver to replace an old one. The sound it delivers is great. There might be better receivers at a higher price, but this is good enough for me. Plus, I got it for $200.00 off.
VincentB –
I bought this receiver to replace a failed Yamaha RX-V4A, which died after only 4 months. So far, It has been much nicer sounding and I am enjoying it.
