Overall great. Works as promised. But, the drain is too close to the ground and can’t get anything underneath to catch the water. Also the window attachments are terrible, wound up making my own.

It should cool down the bedroom faster and better. I thought that since this is a 12.000 BTU AC, I was going to get a better quality

The vertical installation was easy in a sliding window, but I had to make modifications because the kit wasn’t made to specs and directions were unclear. I ended up using plenty of duct tape to seal the cracks and anchor the kit. The product instructions insist that the unit be plugged into a wall socket, but the power cord is only 5′. If you don’t have an outlet within 5′ of the unit placement, then you have no choice but to use a power strip or extension cord which the instructions explicitly forbid and will probably void the warranty if you do so. The unit seems to cool a room fairly quickly because of the dual hose system, but in operation the display emits enough light that you can make decent shadow puppets on your wall and the operational noise level seems fairly high to me. Is this really the best portable AC on the market as some ratings proclaim? I wouldn’t know without trying the others. I’m only using it in my 150 sq ft bedroom and it does a good job. Will it cool 400 sq ft as it claims? I will test this in the future as my apartment is 436 sq ft. Ordering this AC online from Best Buy was easy. Best Buy had the best online price, the best selection of AC’s and free 5 day shipping right to my door. Very convenient!

After the humid heatwaves in Southern California last month I finally decided to buy an a/c. Unfortunately, I haven’t a chance to really put this a/c through it’s paces yet. Our most recent heatwave was the dry Santa Ana variety. Not nearly as uncomfortable without the humidity. The results, so far, are questionable.
This a/c unit has a thermostat to give you the temperature in the room. I used it when the temps got over 90° outside last weekend. I waited until it started to get uncomfortable, in order to save on electricity. This a/c cooled off the living room/kitchen of my 1 bedroom apartment quickly. Here’s the problem: how cool was it? I would set the temp to around 70° just to test the unit out. After running it for a couple of hours during peak afternoon temps the unit’s thermostat never seemed to get below 79°. The thermostat on the wall never seemed to get below 74°. Either way, it felt pretty nice in my apartment. I would start the a/c, jump in the shower, and the temp would be around 5° cooler 15 minutes later. When i shut the unit off in the evening and opened the door and windows I saw the temp on my wall thermostat increase rapidly. My building is about 60 years old. Individual units tiered against a hill. There’s nothing blocking the direct sunlight from hitting my unit for most of the day. I don’t know what kind of insulation there is here. That could be a major factor.. Still, if I could get these kind of results – and dehumidify my place when it gets humid outside – I should do fine.
With this dry heat I haven’t had to empty the reservoir yet. Although I’ve heard that when it’s humid I could be emptying it every 4 hours, or so. Someone said using a large freezer bag would work for that, seeing as how the plug is so close to the bottom of the unit.
Set up was pretty standard for one of these units. Actually took about and hour and a half to screw things together for it’s initial set-up.. A process I won’t have to repeat in the future. Dual exhaust. One of them is presumably for the dehumidifier. When I go outside I can feel the hot air coming out of one of the hoses, but nothing from the other. It’s also a bit quieter than the PAC unit I tried last year.

You will need 2 people to get this monster size box into your home or one person with long, strong arms to haul into your home! It’s gigantic!! Although it says to take off exhaust hoses to use as dehumidifier, good luck getting them off; they do not pop or screw off easily so I think my use as dehumidifier will not occur. The green indicator light for the a/c has already burnt out. It says up to 400 sq ft of cooling area and that it does. With a fan, it can move the cool air and cool beyond the 400 sq ft. All in all, it serves it purpose. My purchase was primarily a mobile one: wanted a portable a/c since it’s getting harder to install window a/c unit each year with put in and take out………………….

It has been hot in Carlsbad, Ca this summer which has made our not air conditioned house quite hot at times. We finally gave in and bought a portable AC. Except for the need to have 2 guys carry the maching upstairs, everything has worked perfectly. It was a cinch to put the hoses and window attachment together and now I just open the window and take out the entire attachment when not in use. If you need something that is quick and easy, this has been ideal for me.

Its been so hot and humid this has been a blessing…thank you

This is a really good portable. I have another brand that is not as good as this. Gives off a lot of cool air. Definitely recommend.

Bought to replace an identical unit, which failed after only five years. All the indicator lights work on this new one (that’s an improvement), but it seems much weaker — only about half as strong as the old one. Can only bring down the temperature of the room a couple of degrees. I’d have it fixed under the (3 year) warranty, but then I’d be completely without air conditioning for the rest of the summer. Plus, I’d have to lug it to a shipper during the pandemic. I think Whynter makes the customer pay for the shipping costs, too, and this thing weighs around eighty pounds. Too bad — not a lot of other two hose portables to choose from.

We bought this portable a/c to cool our ~450’sq apt in Portland, Oregon based on what Consumer Reports and other reviewers said about it. Best buy was quick & effective at performing a price match, and I received the unit even earlier than expected. It’s been a total lifesaver & I’m using it right now!!

Easy set-up. Overall pleased with performance. Would recommend.
