I would love to review the fridge however I STILL have not received it. I have never been so unhappy with service EVER!! I would never recommend anyone purchase any appliances from Best Buy ever. Seriously everything has been damaged with the exception of the fridge because I haven’t received it. Worst experience also they want my money but haven’t delivered it go figure

We moved into a new house 19 months ago that had side by side refrigerator/freezer. It was horrible. You can’t store anything in those things. This one is 100x better. I also like the larger water slot in the door so now I don’t have to lean my larger cups sideways just to get ice and water.

I decided to buy this fridge to replace an aging GE that had a bad layout.
I would have not put together that almost all refrigerators are the same physical footprint, but I could not figure out that the difference with the extra cubic foot or two is the size ice maker you are getting. When I looked at this one compared to the one with the larger ice maker you lose a ton of space.
After reading reviews on many of these I chose this one because of the DUAL ice makers. Because the small one for the door is indeed slow to refill itself. This household has alot of visitors and we go through tons of ice. The below ice maker has a giant tray and makes ice the same size and shape so its easy to ferry ice to the top maker if it runs out.
The below ice maker can refill the giant bin in about a day and a half. You will want to shovel the ice around to make sure it completely fills it up.
The fridge itself is cavernous with room for everything. I also chose this one over the extra middle drawer as that just steals space from you and this one has the same kind of drawer at the bottom.
I have not experienced any issues with the bottom ice maker as in some reviews.
The main bonus on this fridge is it uses half of the electricity the old GE used (I have energy monitors on every appliance) so it is already saving me money.
The GE went to the garage where after two months it died.
I believe in waiting for a few months to write reviews and this has not given me any issues.
Best buy installed it and they are always on time and did an amazing job, even rolling it to a different door just to be more careful.

This fridge makes the most efficient use of space! The double ice maker is awesome. Whirlpool is always dependable. The installation was on schedule & the installers were professional and knowledgeable. BUT-one door was damaged and we were told the replacement would be ordered and to us within 2 weeks-it has been almost 4. I tried calling and online chatting, but had extended wait on hold. Please help us get replacement door. Thanks!

So I’ve had this fridge for under two years, and though it has great features, I can’t recommend it. Within the first year, the lights started to go out, so a tech had to come and fix. He said it was a fairly common issue.
Then 18 months into its life it started chirping its chime over and over, and the lights on the display panel above the ice dispenser started blinking/fuzzing in and out. The touch screen wouldn’t respond to anything. I put a thermometer in the fridge and it wasn’t holding a temp. We fortunately have our downstairs fridge and we were able to move most things into that. (That fridge is 30 years old, by the way.)
We unplugged it for an hour and once we plugged it back in, it was doing the same thing. We unplugged it overnight and plugged it back in, and the chime didn’t come on this time, but the touchscreen was still fizzing in and out. We left it on, and the temp came down and the touch panel slowly regained function.
Right now I really don’t trust this fridge, and it’s less than 2 years old. I hesitate to call in a repair, as it seems to be working fine again. I certainly don’t like that it hangs over my head I may have to move all my stuff between my fridges at 2 in the morning

DO NOT purchase! Bought this item SIX months ago and it has now broken twice!!!!!!! I was told it is a new design with flaws and boy does it show!!! It took the warranty appliance company 3 MONTHS!!! to fix it due to parts being backordered and special technician. It has been fixed for 6 WEEKS!!! and it is broke again! DO NOT BUY!!!! You will regret it!!!!!!!!

Refrigerator broke after 3 months!! Now I understand that sometimes you just end up with a lemon, but for $3000+ I would think they would make it right. Have now been without a refrigerator for over two months because they can not ship me a compressor to replace the broken one they sold me in the refrigerator. spent many hours on hold with customer service and they are no help. We bought this fridge when our Samsung French door started holding foods at 50 degrees and up. After a year of arguing and finally taking them to court, we spent a LOT of time researching a reliable model for the replacement, and this is it. I wanna say I’ve had this two months now – it’s been wonderful so far, and it’s more than I’d hoped for.
Upsides:
– Very stable and reliable temperature
– Atypical draw layout and extending bottom shelf are surprisingly versatile
– Has a deep vertical spot along the front of the freezer door for pizzas. Big enough to hold a couple full sized Wild Mike’s pizzas, no problem!
– Handles feel good, easy to clean, so far no nooks to crevices that get nasty.
– Front is magnetic, which is increasingly uncommon.
– Ice is reliable and fast!
– Has dual ice makers, bottom has a scoop and holder built in, top is in door, preserving fridge space and preventing the most common icemaker issues.
– Fridge cooling system is very quiet.
– Two water dispenser trays so you can swap them out.
– Super easy to access water filter, but perfectly out of the way.
– Interior lights are excellent, with no dark spots or irregular lighting.
– Water filter is so thorough I can use it for glassing eggs or pickling things in my municipality. I can water my venus flytrap with this water.
– Water dispenser still works if someone opens the other door!!
Downsides:
– That cooling system sounds exactly like an outgoing phone call. Since it *IS* so quiet, every time I close the fridge, it sounds like my phone is ringing from a pocket dial. Takes getting used to.
– Water dispenser hose is in *front* of the ice dispenser, so if, say, a kid tries to fill a smaller cup, it’ll spray their wrist instead.
– As far as I can tell, the slidey shelf can’t come out, but the glass beneath it can for cleaning.
– The bottom bin on the left door is a slightly different width than all the others, so you can only put the small/narrow drawer there, not a full sized one.
– Freezer handle does not lift or tilt at all (like those that break the seal) so it’s a little uncomfortable to open, but it’s a footnote-level inconvenience.
Extra notes:
– Door ice is smaller “cubes” than most models, which lets them freeze faster and cool drinks more quickly. It also means easier and more reliable crushed ice. However, small ice also means they’ll melt faster in a drink.
– That water dispenser being on the front weirdly makes it *exactly* right for refilling an aluminum can. I can drink an Arizona Black and White tea and then refill it with filtered water without spilling a drop.
I think that’s it. After being made terribly sick by a fridge and then having to sue because the company wouldn’t do anything, I am shocked at how easily I can trust this thing. It feels safe and reliable, it held the temp exactly where I wanted, and I keep being pleasantly surprised at small features that I never expected to matter that much like that center drawer, or the slidey shelf.
It’s a good fridge, the company has a stellar reputation compared to all competitors, and I am so far very pleased with my purchase. I actively stop people buying Samsung French doors when I see it, and I actively encourage this one or the single-icemaker model whenever anyone has asked. When I got this, it was the last one at my Lowes, and everyone else was backordered for at least three months, and for good reason!
