  1. PhilGA

Both the unit I received and the installation were provided at no charge as a test unit.

As of the date of this review, the weBoost Home Complete cell signal booster kit is the top-of-the-line kit that the company provides for consumer, fixed use. While this unit is definitely on the expensive side, it can provide significantly increased coverage if the internal antenna is located correctly. Keep in mind that current units such as this one will boost all bands — including 5G-LTE, the modified LTE band — but will not provide bona fide 5G service.

For this unit, you do have to have professional installation included. This was provided by the great folks over at OnTech, which is actually the same team that works for DISH Network — and they arrive in said branded vans. The gentleman who performed my install was as professional as could be expected, so I’m not going to spend more time on that aspect. He listened to how I wanted to have the outside antenna installed and provided some great tips.

The weBoost Home Complete cell signal booster comes with three main parts: the outside antenna, the booster itself (which does get pretty warm as it’s being used), and the inside antenna. A picture is included of the final installation for the outdoor antenna. It must be pointed in the general direction of the closest cell tower to provide any sort of service. As you can see, it is a relatively unobtrusive addition to the outside, and will work with most HoA-controlled neighborhoods as well.

In our instance, since we are no longer using satellite TV (we’re now 100% streaming), our tech was able to use the coaxial cable that had already been wired into the house for this device (something I had planned on as we were about to get the unit). In all honesty, since our tech was pretty meticulous at his job, I wouldn’t have had any issues if holes would have been drilled to deal with wiring, but that wasn’t a part of this install.

The internal antenna was set up in an enclosed closet for convenience reasons. Our tech went over the technical specifications of distancing for both antennas and how to keep oscillation from happening (which is basically a signal feedback loop that can cause significant interference if not handled properly, something this unit handles by virtue of the LED indicators on the booster itself — it won’t boost a signal if it detects an oscillation).

To be perfectly honest, if you’re comfortable with a drill, ladder, and terminating coaxial cables, there’s not really a reason why this couldn’t be a DIY-based project, even though weBoost doesn’t support that situation with this product. The fact that you must register this device with your wireless carrier is likely part of the reason — having professional installation is the way that weBoost can effectively guarantee (as it were) that they’re in line with FCC regulations (weBoost includes instructions on how to do this in the box).

What were the results? For our 4,000-square foot house, it definitely boosted our signal — from a typical one or two bars up to a full five. However, because of the way our internal antenna is set up, and since we do have a decent number of walls/obstructions throughout the house, we can get a good four bars throughout the house, with five typically downstairs. If we were to place the antenna somewhere out in the open, it’s likely that our whole-home signaling would likely increase.

Also, in testing this over a few days post install, I’ve noticed that our phones might “roam” between the existing tower and our booster “tower,” thereby contributing to fluctuating signal ranges from time to time — that’s something built into the way that all cell phones work. Keep that in mind as you’re reviewing any sort of signal booster to buy. Our cell tower signals are relatively decent to begin with; I suspect that if you have almost no signaling, you might “stick” with higher signals from the booster more often. This scenario was tested by putting the device into Airplane mode (turning off cellular) and then turning it back on. When doing this, we always got a very strong signal from the booster until the signal algorithms kick in, attempting to find the best signal (don’t fault weBoost for that).

To sum up, the installation was great and the product does work — assuming you understand what your present cellular situation is now and can make a best-guess as to whether this device is right for you. The price is steep, but this is a pretty powerful unit. Yet for those in more rural areas with next to no cellular reception, this could be exactly what you need for solid signaling.

My home office is in the basement of a newer suburban subdivision and while I have never had a problem getting A signal for AT&T or Verizon, I’m constantly getting 1-2 bars on both carriers. Looking at a Booster solution as a ‘nice to have’ as opposed to an essential purchase I decided to take the plunge because I’m working from home (he justified).

Package arrived and in the top of the box there was a card with a 7 digit code needed to redeem for the included installation. The process seemed straight forward enough, but when I went to sign up for an OnTech account register the code the scheduling system didn’t give me any available dates to schedule. I called the 800# and talked with a scheduling specialist who was working from home due to COVID-19 (Super nice guy BTW) who wasn’t able to help me because when he tried to enter the code to schedule in his system it came back as redeemed. He directed me to WeBoost customer care who was also super nice / working from home, but apparently this is a new product and they didn’t have much experience with the process. Fortunately, I have a lot of time on my hands so I didn’t mind the wait, and they were extremely professional with actual call backs and follow-ups. 5 stars! I ended up getting a new code and calling back to OnTech to schedule the appointment that was available next day!

Installers arrived with gloves and I gave them a couple masks to wear. The installers day job was installing satellite dishes, and if you’re wondering about the installation process…it’s the same. There’s now an antenna on my roof, pointed at the carrier I chose (AT&T) and a cable running down my roofline and down my water spout. Guys….talk over your purchase decision with your spouses before signing up!

The first attempt at indoor antenna placement was in the utility room where the cables come into the house and the power supply was already going to be mounted. Sitting in my office roughly 50 feet away I didn’t discern any noticeable increase in signal, but as I walked towards the antenna the signal increased significantly. The star deducted is simply due to the fact that the indoor antenna just isn’t that strong. Because the area I was hoping to improve was in my office they suggested placing in there. I already had a cable hookup that I wasn’t using so it was a pretty simple process.

    Results:

My AT&T phones went from fluctuating from 1-2 bars to 3-4 bars with the antenna placed on a shelf 5 feet behind where I sit at my computer. Noticeable! When I place my phone next to the antenna the signal is off the charts! I’m sure there are regulations as to how powerful the repeater can be, but man it’s crazy how much signal is lost in such a short distance.

Despite being pointed at an AT&T tower my Verizon hotspot also shows significant signal increase. Bonus! Pictures show the dBm rating at and the difference is pretty amazing.

I threw some speed test results in there too, but I’d be leery of putting too much faith into tests like that because they were done an hour apart, and a lot of factors can be different.

    Conclusion:
If you’re struggling to get any service in your house and there are no amazing alternatives with strong fiber or cable internet providers to provide a VOIP solution, then this might be a great option for you!

If you’re like me and you get an OK signal but are just annoyed that it’s not a GREAT signal then this is a ‘nice to have’. If you’re looking to spend that stimulus check and support a local installation company – go for it! I can’t say that it’s going to be a life changing purchase, but maybe it will save you a little aggravation.

Received this product and scheduled installation.

This product consists of basically 3 items. Signal receiver, Booster, internal Antenna. All connected via standard RG6 cable. The outside receiver antenna is rather large, measuring about 12″ long and 8″ tall. All items include a mounting bracket. With the internal antenna having a wall-mount and kickstand.

Install was done by a contractor. There was a card in the box to call and schedule. Install was scheduled within a couple of days. Upon arrival, the installer confirmed all parts were in the box. He then surveyed all around my property with a meter to determine the strongest inbound signal. Followed by discussing where to install the 3 main components. There are apparently a few things to consider when installing such as not crossing the signal(creating a signal loop whereas the receiver antenna doesn’t try to pick up the emitting antenna!). I did not have to supply anything for the install so the box and installer had everything needed.

We initially installed the component for the entirety of my home of approx 5000sqft. We installed on the main level outer wall. The signal was moderate and doesn’t cover my whole home, unfortunately. It does provide a decent signal boost in both dbm and ASU. With a starting signal of 112 dropping to about 89 with the device.

I have since decided to relocate the internal antenna to my basement where I experience the worst incoming signal. I now get a great boost down to 75 dBm!!!

Overall, this device does work when installed properly. The internal antenna is not large and is easy to integrate into your decor. I found that it does cover my basement areas quite well and provides great service enhancement for that area(3 part underground basement).

We did have a hard time determining a good location for the antennas due to construction and access. So your results may vary.

I think this is a good product but may be priced out of reach for some with cheaper options available if you simply need a signal boost and have a window nearby! if you need to get signal to a hard to reach area(basement) or a building that may deflect outside signal form permeating within(metal buildings) This would be what you are looking for!!

I dropped the rating down to 3 stars for the following reasons
    1. I did not receive the coverage area as stated of 7500sqft.
    2. price is rather high for this product IMO – I have not priced this against other options
    3. Limitations in install options – distance from the booster, receiver location limitations, installer limitations
    4. Hard to troubleshoot – installer had to move the booster a few times to determine why we were not initially getting the desired boost. Took about an extra hour+ during the install.

The weBoost – Booster Kit – White/Gray/Black offers cellular signal gains even in hard to use locations for any of the big service providers. Without the use of Wi-Fi, which is very questionable at times depending upon our local internet provider, our cell service is questionable at best, usually producing 1 bar of LTE – not enough to do much with anything using data. We had to get a Microcell / Internet Range extender for our company Verizon just to get data services in the house and to ensure our calls did not drop.

We had the weBoost Kit installed by professionals and the pro was awesome! He was knowledgeable and helpful. Before the installation, which took about 1.5 hours, the signal was the usual 1 LTE bar. After the install, we received 3 bars LTE and the data actually worked. Speed tests showed about 13 Mbps d/l and 9 Mbps u/l for reference. Our biggest issue, and only reason for 4 stars is that the weBoost antenna is not omni-directional – it is very linear. It only boosts in line-sight, not the traditional Wi-Fi bubble most people are used too. This can be troublesome for those wanting this product installed in a certain room or location. It will need to be installed in location that can be pointed towards the direction you want covered most. Stand behind it and basically nothing.

    PROS
    – Does what is says – Increases and Boosts cell signals!
    – Universal for most cell services – just point the outside antenna toward the right tower and you are ready to go.
    – Professional installation is worth it and insures quality!
    – Increase signals in hard to access buildings or outdoor locations, from 1 to full bars in full LTE and 5G signals where available.
    – Quality product and build.

    CONS
    – Linear (line of sight) directional antenna – limits where it can be effectively placed or mounted

The cell service in my home sucks. At least for Sprint service. I came across the weBoost – Booster Kit hoping that it would improve my cell service, but the results were highly disappointing.

Before I get into the service, I will start by mentioning that the purchase of the weBoost – Booster Kit came with professional installation by onTech technicians. They came out and installed the system in about one hour. The two technicians were extremely professional and took extra precaution during the COVID-19 era. The technicians explained the way weBoost – Booster Kit works. When I told them about my cell service in my home and out, and they were completely honest about the weBoost – Booster Kit most likely not being much help after install.

They will need to install an outside antenna outside of your home, so they will need to do drilling through your roof. They will also need to do some drilling through your exterior and interior walls to run the exterior antenna cables to the receiver inside of your home. I checked the work, and everything looks legit.

On to the end results. I’m very disappointed at the weBoost – Booster Kit. I was hoping that there would be at least some improvement to my cell service, but I was wrong. Before the installation, I only had one bar of cell service. After the install I saw absolutely no change in my service. The technicians installed the interior antenna in a way that was supposed to maximize coverage area, but even after that I saw not change. I tried every room in my home, including outside, and still saw no improvement. Although the technicians said that the service bars were not a true indicator of cell service/performance, I am still convinced that there was no change in service improvement, as I tried sending a media message to see if anything change, but it was a no-go. The receiver does displays a connection strength light bar, and it is a full green (good connection).

The weBoost – Booster Kit was a big letdown. I was expecting some change, especially for the price of the system.

Honestly, I cannot recommend this system because there is no guarantee that it will improve your service. I guess if your service provider sucks there is nothing you can do to change that except to change your service provider.

  6. AcurNet

The weBoost – Booster Kit drastically improved the cellular reception in my home. The cellular reception in my home was low to moderate prior having the weBoost – Booster Kit installed. Now, I have remarkable signal strength throughout my home. Even the lower level, which traditionally was a dead zone without Wi-Fi calling. You’ll want to have the unit professionally installed to ensure optimized placement of the components, but you’ll be glad you did!

I am typically on calls throughout the day and it’s critical that I have adequate signal strength for call clarity. Thanks to the weBoost – Booster Kit, I don’t have to worry. It’s such a relief.

Prior to the weBoost kit, I would see consistent maximum bandwidth of approximately 20 – 30 Mbps of throughput on my cellular device (iPhone X) without Wi-Fi enabled at the areas of my home with the strongest signal. Now, I get nearly triple that bandwidth! Even areas that had poor reception now have nearly 70Mbps of throughput.

I love the design. It’s not a large unit and looks great in my home, thanks to the sleek casing. The unit is inconspicuously placed in the corner without drawing attention to itself. It’s also quiet. No buzzing, humming or noise of any kind.

I’m extremely happy about the weBoost – Booster Kit. I highly recommend this kit for anyone that wants to improve wireless signals in their home/office.

I unfortunately live in a cell signal dead zone and this brought it back to life. Before I would generally get 1 bar, and sometimes even no signal. Calls would drop if I could even make them, texts would fail…it was such a pain. Guests would always have to get on the wifi because cell signal here was so poor. I did read prior to installation that if you have a poor signal, it may not even help, but figured I would give it a try. After install, I pretty much get 2 or 3 bars, calls rarely drop, and I can even use phone apps when the wifi is turned off. So, yeah, not a miracle product, but it is working well so far. The installers were great and they were able to place the various units in locations that we don’t even notice them. Wires were run cleanly, and it only took about two hours. For the price, it was well worth it for me. I will say that sending and receiving texts with pics is much faster and more reliable, calls work, and I don’t even notice the hardware. There are no apps or logins, it just works in the background with no beeps or dings!! Great product!! I felt like I was destined to never get a cell signal, but alas, weBoost has come to the rescue

  8. PracticalSandy

We live in a very remote area, down in a valley so cell phone service and internet has always been an issue. Once the WeBoost was installed, we did gain 1-2 bars so I did give it a four star rating.

If you have a chance to get professional installation for this device, I would definitely recommend it as they did a much better job of installing it properly than we had on another one. The instructions are plain enough, but you need to know where your towers are and you need to make sure you don’t cross the antennae with the booster path for optimum performance.

The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because they claim to improve “the Wi-Fi and cellular network speed” and while it does boost the signal strength, I don’t think it increases the speed. Also, it is supposed to work up to 7500 sq. ft. but the signal was only boosted one bar in a space that was only 2 rooms away.

It’s still worth the increased performance, and I assume homes or offices with more line-of-sight availability to cell phone towers will perform much better.

  9. Telstar

The weBoost – Booster Kit – White/Gray/Black consists of the outdoor antenna, cables, the indoor transmitter, and the power supply/booster. It is sold as a package that includes professional installation. In fact, it is advertised as such and emphasizes the overall effectiveness and end-product satisfaction being enhanced due to professional installation. The installation is provided by OnTech, which is owned by Dish Satellite. When you open the weBoost box, there is a card on top of the contents that gives you contact information for OnTech to arrange installation.

Regarding the equipment, it appears in every way to be sturdy and able to act as advertised. The power supply/booster can be mounted in various locations so it can be hidden out of the way. The transmitter can be set on a horizontal surface or mounted on a wall. It has a light gray surface so that it won’t draw a lot of attention if you need to mount it on a wall.

I live in the country where the cell signal runs from zero to one or two bars depending on which way the wind’s blowing – I realize that isn’t a scientific statement, but it seems that way when you go looking in the house for a place where you can actually make a phone call or text. I have to say that the weBoost has increased our signal strength in, perhaps, half of our home. Ours has 4000 sf of living space, but the product claim is that it will handle up to 7000 sf. Well, that’s not the case in our home, but here is the rest of the story…

After contacting OnTech for installation I was promptly contacted by the installer for directions since even GPS gets tangled from time to time where we live. When I first contacted OnTech, I saw their calendar online, which showed available dates for installation. Sunday was open so I selected that day. The installer showed up Sunday morning. I want to emphasize that he was courteous, neat, and pleasant to work with. His truck showed Dish Satellite on the outside, and he explained that Dish owned OnTech and he did installations for Dish but had recently started doing installations for OnTech with weBoost hardware. I really had no complaints about the installer, but it became painfully obvious that he was not an experienced installer of weBoost equipment. To start with, I had a 6’ antenna mast in place on the peak of my roof that had no antenna on it. I told the installer I wanted the weBoost antenna mounted there since it would put the antenna at the highest place on my home – the nearest cell tower is probably 8 or 9 miles away. He said Dish would not allow their installers to get on roofs. I discussed this with him and suggested he call his supervisor to get clearance to do this with my permission. He said they wouldn’t approve it no matter who he talked to and that it was a hard and fast rule that they could not get on a customer’s roof nor mount anything on the roof. He ended up mounting the antenna onto the fascia of the peak of a gable bump-out on my house. The way the ground drops away on the rear of the house he had to get at least 20’ or more up his ladder to do this. To get on my roof from where his truck was parked would have taken 10’ up the ladder and from there to simply walk to the antenna mast on a 6/12 pitch roof along the ridge. He could have mounted the antenna while simply standing on my roof – the mast wasn’t tall enough to require a ladder. I would have had a better installation of the antenna and he would have had a safer and easier installation of the weBoost antenna.

Once the antenna was installed on the gable fascia, he used a mapping program on his smartphone to show the location of the nearest cell tower(s), and he then pointed the antenna in the general direction shown by his map. Frankly, since we’re talking about professional installation that is promised and part of this package, I expected him to use a field strength signal meter attached to the weBoost antenna to align it with the tower in the most precise way possible. That way would ensure the antenna was receiving the strongest signal possible for that mounting location. I asked the installer about this and he said they were not given field strength signal meters and they were expected to point the antenna in the direction of the tower shown on their phone’s mapping software. So, if the antenna on my home is receiving the strongest cell signal possible from the tower, it’s truly by accident. You can only boost the signal the antenna receives. In addition, there was a 3G tower and a 4G tower near each other. Since we don’t stream anything from home through the cell connection (we have WiFi for that), he recommended using the 3G signal since it was stronger than the 4G signal. I agreed, but at the same time I wondered how he could determine actual cell strength between the two without the proper equipment. Even if the 4G didn’t have as strong a signal as the 3G, wouldn’t the extra bandwidth of 4G figure into that equation?

There are several variables involved when setting up a cell booster in your home. The vertical distance from the outside antenna to the inside transmitter has certain requirements and restrictions. The length of cable between the two has certain requirements and restrictions. The direction the transmitter is pointing also has certain requirements relative to the outside antenna etc. In other words, the several variables must be all accounted for while at the same time finding the best location in the home for the transmitter to provide the widest signal coverage for your home.

Unfortunately, my installer had little, or no, experience installing weBoost equipment, or any other cell signal boosting equipment for that matter. He had no special equipment to help him achieve the best arrangement of the inside equipment for the best results, and I’m pretty certain he had no specialized training outside of satellite installations. This left trial and error with both of us discussing all these things while moving equipment around to try to achieve optimum signal and coverage. Experience counts for a lot when juggling multiple variables while trying to install cell signal boosting equipment for the best result. He spent a lot of hours at my place tirelessly working with me, but it was hopeless because neither of us had the real training, experience or specialized equipment to do the job in a professional manner – I’m not talking about running cable here or there or mounting things because my installer knew what he was doing in that area. He simply didn’t know what he was doing to get the optimum signal strength and coverage for my home.

So, is my cell phone signal better in my home after the installation of weBoost? Yes, maybe…it is in certain parts of the house and not at all in others. Do I have the best signal strength hitting my antenna from the tower and the best signal strength in my home? I seriously doubt it. Could my inside equipment (not to mention my outside antenna) be rearranged by an experienced installer of cell signal booster equipment to achieve a better result for my household? No doubt.

The following day I received a survey from OnTech about my installation experience. I outlined in that survey what I’ve written here in this review. Have I heard anything further from OnTech or anyone else more than a week later? No, I have not.

I had a good installer – for cable equipment, but not for cell signal boosting equipment. In addition, Dish’s rules about staying off roofs has given me a substandard opportunity for the best signal strength from the nearest tower because my installer couldn’t put the outside antenna in the best location. Further, manual aiming of the antenna cannot guarantee the best signal strength even where they ended up mounting the antenna. The present arrangement of the inside equipment is based on guess and finally settling on where it finally ended up since we were both worn out fooling with it for several hours.

The bottom line is that weBoost has good equipment, but seriously professional installation is everything when it comes to getting the best signal strength and signal coverage for your home. In this expensive package, you’re paying for professional installation and you’re promised professional installation. In my case, I did not receive professional installation. I’m a little better off with weBoost than before, but not by much, and I’m convinced I could have a much better experience if I’d been given the professional installation promised.

I had the weBoost Home Complete cell signal booster installed in my home and had an immediate increase from two to four (the max) bars on my cell phone in my home (AT&T). The process to have the signal booster was easy – as it is installed by a professional. This is not something you can do on your own. I was able to call and get an appointment easily with a 2 hour window. The appointment did last nearly 4 hours as the installation process can be tricky. The technician has to locate your cell phone provider towers and the booster has to go in a direction to/from those towers. There are two parts that need to be installed – one part goes in your house and one is outside on your roof (similar to a dish but smaller). The part that is installed inside the house had to be near our cable box and was run through our attic and down the wall. The technician did a great job with installation and we saw an immediate improvement in service as soon as installation was complete.

Overall— the booster actually works and slightly improved my signal. According to the tech I had a -100 ish dB reading around my home (readings from back yard, front yard, side yard, & living room). After install I had about -92 dB inside my home. With that said, I think I have slightly improved reception at home since I haven’t been able to notice any static on the line. Nor have I heard the other party ask me to repeat myself because they couldn’t hear me. Didn’t see much in terms of data.
Pros— it actually works. Setup is quite simple, if you know how to use power tools you can install it. Although, unless you know exactly where your networks towers are around your area you may still need a tech. Lastly, equipment isn’t very bulky or unsightly.
Cons— it’s very expensive. (In my case) the improvement isn’t worth the cost. Adds another unsightly antenna to your roof.
Conclusion— this is one of those types of products where ymmv (your mileage may vary) will certainly apply. In my opinion, if you are considering purchasing a booster, first, contact a tech and have your area scanned. Pinpoint your nearest network tower either though your tech or contacting your wireless carrier, although in the latter case it’s possible that they won’t tell you.

I have used a Wilson Electronics phone booster in my car in the past with great success, so a whole-home system seems like the next logical step. At home, our cell phones are the only phones used as we do not have a landline in place. I live in a rural area with OK signal (1-2 bars on my iPhone 8+), but had been experiencing randomly dropped calls and occasional inability to make calls despite signal registering on my phone. The system consists of the booster itself, an indoor antenna, and an outdoor antenna. Professional install was included with my device purchase and I would not want to do this DIY. It isn’t complicated per se, but I am not technical enough to have known where the cell tower is broadcasting from and inevitably had I done DIY, I would have crossed the antenna streams which would cause the device not to work. The booster and the indoor antenna need to be mounted within a specific proximity of one another typically in the same room. The outdoor antenna requires mounting at the highest point of your house but below the roof and facing away from the indoor antenna. Since having the device professionally installed, I am no longer dropping calls and have not had any issues with failed outbound calls. I have had to power cycle the booster a few times because its signal strength seems to vary, but I consistently get at least one green light on the booster. I have been using it for a week now. At best when first installed, I saw a full four bars of signal on my phone, but more consistently I see two bars and an occasional 3 bars. For this reason I am rating it 4* rather than 5. Had it consistently kept my signal at a full 4 bars or even boosted it consistently to 3 bars, I would give it 5 stars. This can vary based on your geographic location so someone else might experience something different than me. Regardless of how you measure signal on your phone though, I have no more dropped calls! I highly recommend this product!

Before we installed the weBoost our cell signal inside or outside the house for AT&T was one bar or less. The signal strength was around -120db and very often the phone indicated it was not attached to the network. It was impossible to use any internet data functions such as browser.

The weBoost came with professional installation, a link was provided inside the box with a code that is used to schedule the installation; it was very easy to use. The techs from On Tech came out the next day and did a very nice job of installing the equipment, I should add they wore face masks and shoe protection inside the house. They ran a tester outside that showed each of the major carrier’s towers, data capability, and the signal strength. They then mounted the outside antenna on the house pointed towards the best tower that supported our carrier. They mounted the inside equipment in the house to provide the optimum coverage inside.

After the weBoost install was completed I had 5 bars on each cell phone tested, had clear signal on the voice calls made. The signal strength showed around -80db and speed testing indicated over 5 MB download speed and 4 MB upload, data speed was excellent using the internet data functions of the phone.

I chose this product because I have a house built in the 60’s that gets poor indoor signal reception from my service provider. I’m constantly dropping calls or having audio problems (can you hear me now?), and I was hoping to resolve that issue specifically.

I received my WeBoost and went onto the website indicated in the package to schedule an install. The process was simple and I was able to schedule an installer for the same day. I received a call before arrival and they were on time (or a little early). They walked around the property to determine the direction of the nearest tower for my cell service, to determine where to mount the antenna (a medium-size fin on an arm that attaches to your eaves).

The signal repeater, which must be installed inside, runs cable to both antennas and requires a standard outlet. The installers were very professional and helpful in working with me to find a suitable location to install the interior equipment, and accommodated my requests as best they could. I would describe the installation experience as similar to or better than that of a standard satellite or cable TV install.

The product itself does what it says it does. I went from 0-1 bars of service in my house to a minimum of three depending on location. The service you receive outside your house will now be the service you receive inside your house. It does not “boost” your signal otherwise. If your outdoor signal is poor, this device will not improve it.

For my part, I’ve spent the past week using it and haven’t had any problems with my calls, which I consider a vast improvement. I’d recommend this to anyone having problems with their indoor cell reception.

The weBoost Complete home installation kit is pretty impressive. To give you an idea of what I am dealing with, I do have cell service in my house. I live in the suburbs, in an area that is growing in population, however, the area still seems to be a dead zone for some things. Cell service is hit or miss, depending on your provider of course. T-Mobile is a Washington company, and it is my service provider. They are not the fastest, and their coverage is not always first place. In my residence, I get anywhere between one and two bars on my phone. Plus I am getting just under 50 mbps download speed for my mobile internet on my phone. Those are the basics for my set up.

The weBoost device is not small, and it needs to be professionally installed. You will see in some of the other reviews, that there is a fairly significant antenna that needs to be installed outside, and they run a line the wall and into the location where you want the indoor components installed. There are three basic components to the system:

    1. The outside directional antenna (already mentioned it)
    2. The inside panel antenna
    3. Home Complete (Brains)
    4. Installation instructions

The Home Complete is a little smaller than an X-Box. It makes no noise, but has a fairly bright light. Make sure you have the installer place it where you want it to live forever, or at least give you some extra wiring so you can move it around if you need to. I installed mine in the Livingroom and it is hidden behind a piece of furniture. Out of sight, out of mind. The panel antenna is different, as it needs to broadcast the signal and should be in a location to maximize that benefit. Mine is on the fireplace mantle, but I may move it later. The indoor antenna is fairly large and I am trying to find a way to disguise it somehow.

I mentioned the instructions for the installation? That is because when you purchase this item the install was free. My install was fulfilled by Dish Network and the process to reserve the install date was done all online with a code provided in the box. Very easy and the installer was awesome. Very COVID-19 friendly, and the install looks very clean and professional.

    So the results?

Full bars on my phone and the mobile internet speed jumped from the low 50’s (mbps) to 67+ mbps. A fairly significant increase right? But the full bars is what is important.

Do I need this in my house? It can be argued either way. But this would be a great tool for someone living out in a fairly remote location. Given the fact that this product works with any provider it gives everyone the option for their home. Not everyone needs it. But if you do it is a resource available to you and one that I can say with confidence that it works.

I think it’s important to start off immediately that you must look into where your closest cell phone tower is relative to your home. Please look into using the suggested apps by WeBoost themselves at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKc_yVT26Xo

The Apps listed are OpenSignal, LTE Speed Coverage Map and Network Cell Info Lite. I personally used OpenSignal as it was the first on the list and it did exactly what I needed it to. To find the closest tower with the best possible line of sight, and figure out the best way to mount the antenna.

Now, this package does include professional installation. So the real work is on their technicians. But if this is going to require a pole to be installed, possibly electrical work in order to accomodate the power requirements if the location it needs to be in does not have any outlet close, etc. Then you’re are definitely going to want to know prior to pulling the trigger on this. This is not a deal breaker, it likely doesn’t apply to everyone considering this product. But I feel it’s absolutely necessary to know prior to diving into this project.

I gave this 4 stars not because of anything wrong with this product. It’s fantastic and does exactly what it advertises. But your mileage may vary only due to unknown variables that some may not consider prior to making this purchase. If you have done your due diligence and require a desperately needed signal booster, you’re looking at the right item.

  17. TechBuyer

I have Sprint as my carrier because I’m grandfathered into a really cheap family plan with Unlimited Plan, but the downside is that I’m pretty much guaranteed low signal in some areas even though I’m in the Greater Metro DC Area.

Even at my home which is just 10 miles outside of DC, I get 2-3 bars and roughly 15Mbps download on 4G LTE. I jumped at the chance to use the weBoost hoping to get 100Mbps or more that I can get in areas closer to Sprint towers.

The overall set-up process with weBoost is amazing, white glove treatment and super easy. Wilson contracts with OnTech which is a contractor that does all kinds of tech home installs. They are usually available within 2-3 days of when you request an appointment, and the included code on the weBoost kit means you pay nothing for the installation. Great so far!

Unfortunately, the fact they use contractors means they are using instructions and don’t have a ton of experience with this specific installation. They do smart cameras, mesh networks, Dish TV installs, and the weBoost is just one more unicorn install they deal with. The first tech that came out didn’t seem like he had done one before and was in contact a lot with his home base and install documentation.

Needless to say, the first visit didn’t end particularly well, I actually got worse performance with the weBoost than without for Downloads from around 18Mbps to around 5Mbps. Upload speeds increased a to 15Mbps, but no one wants to pay $1K for a downgrade in some areas and upgrade in others.

I contacted weBoost and they were great, went through a bunch of questions and asked me to send them pics. They came to the conclusion the installation was not done correctly and told me to call OnTech to schedule another appointment to fix it.

Again, pretty seamless experience, 2nd tech showed up in PPE on time within the window and he moved the booster unit away from the outside Antenna saying there was interference if they were too close. The green lights on the unit itself this time went to 4 bars, and while the actual performance from my phone using speedtest wasn’t an improvement, it wasn’t worse.

Another really interesting observation was that the 2nd Tech had an Android phone and had MUCH better results with the weBoost connected than without. My wife and I both have iPhone Xs and we both got much better (2-3x) results with the weBoost Disconnected. So odd.

The first installer hung the outside antenna on the garage eave instead of higher up on the 2nd story of the house. I suggested moving the outside antenna multiple times but the 2nd tech didn’t seem to want to do that.

Bottom line, if you are already getting decent Wireless signal to your home I don’t think I would recommend this unit. If you are in the middle of nowhere, it may be worth looking into as the difference between watching Netflix or not. Overall the experience was good, I’m glad I got to try it, but based off of my results I could not recommend this to someone in a similar situation in the suburbs, with good, but not great signal. If you’re in rural areas where you have clear lines of sight to the nearest tower with no interference, it could make a big difference for you.

    About weBoost Home Complete
The weBoost Home Complete by Wilson Electronics is a signal booster for cell phones. It is designed to take a cellular signal from the exterior of your home, bring it inside, and then amplify it. The idea for this product is that you can use an external antenna pointed in the direction of your provider’s tower to find a weak or mid-level signal and then bring it inside to where you need it.

    What It Comes With
In the box you will find an external antenna, a power supply box, a signal repeater, and some mounting hardware. What is not included is coaxial cable to connect the antenna and boxes or an arm mount for mounting to the roof. These items were supplied by my installer. The antenna for the weBoost is similar in concept to an external UHF antenna. Mount it outside to get the best signal and carry it in by coaxial cable. Once inside the cable runs to a power box and then back out to the repeater. The repeater looks like a speaker, but functions similar to a WiFi access point or router.

    The Installation
The installation is difficult. I consider it the equivalent of installing a satellite dish and a router at the same time. My installation was performed by a professional service that was prepaid with the product. All that I had to do was go online to schedule my appointment and use the code inside the box.
Installing the product including mounting the antenna to my roof eave with a satellite arm. Coaxial cable took the signal into my attic and down to my IT closet where the power box was placed. You need a regular wall outlet to plug the power box into. From there another coaxial cable was run to the signal repeater which I had mounted to the wall in a central area of my home. Once everything was installed, it worked automatically. There were no codes or passwords. It just produced the signal.

    Does It Work?
The reason that I was interested in this product was that I barely had any cell phone signal inside my house. I would have 1 bar of service and my phone would constantly lose the little bit of signal I had, dropping the call. Also, I would not receive some incoming calls. Suddenly, I would just have a voicemail.
This product has changed that. I have generally added 2 bars of signal to what I would normally get. On the more technical side, I was getting -119dB prior to the installation. After it was installed I was getting -93dB. That’s a big increase. For reference, the maximum allowed signal is -72dB per the FCC.

    Important Things to Know
    1) The exterior antenna is directional, so the installer will need to point it in the direction of the tower. Sometimes this is hard to determine, and the installer may have a special tool for this.
    2) If you have no cell phone signal at all, this may not help you. There needs to be a signal to “boost” in order to benefit from this product.
    3) Mountings for the power box and signal repeater could be better. There are plastic mounting pieces that the boxes slide onto. This means that you can only mount it one way vertically. If you mount it horizontally, they could potentially slide left or right depending on the installation. I could see someone knocking a horizontal mount off the wall. Also, the plug into the power box on my product comes out easily.

Overall, I am very pleased with what this product has accomplished. I haven’t dropped a call since I have installed it. I’m giving the weBoost Home Complete 4 stars. The install is pretty involved, and there were a couple of product design issues that could be corrected (loose power plug & the plastic mounts). Otherwise, this product has done what it said it would, and it has helped me stay connected.

The water tower up the street from our home needed routine maintenance and painting and the cellular antennas were removed. As a result, the cellular reception in our home dropped to 1 bar. We often had trouble hearing callers, calls were dropped, and text messaged would sometimes be delayed for hours. The antennas could not be replaced because there was a change in the building codes that required reinforcement of the footers under the water tower.

The weBoost antenna increased the 4G signal strength in our home from 1 bar to 3 bars (sufficient to enable good audio connections and drop-free calls). The technician performing the installation (included in the cost of the system) was excellent and was able to locate the best remaining cell tower near our home and amplify the signal to permit reliable cell service inside.

The system does require a small horizontal roof-top antenna, coaxial cable to the indoor booster (close to an existing power outlet), and coaxial cable to the indoor antenna. The installer can make cable runs hidden in attic, crawl space, or in-wall. The indoor antenna can be wall-mounted or placed on a table using the built-in “kick stand”.

Pretty expensive for the minimal improvement we are experiencing. Still haven’t been able to test during cloudy/rainy weather. If we still get reception then, we’ll keep it. If not, we’ll return it.

  21. ZoeB

Honestly so frustrated with this product. It does literally nothing. There is no difference AT ALL in service quality or availability. HUGE waste of money. So now I have holes drilled in my wall for a useless piece of crap product.

  22. robotvac77p

After a three hour installation and many phone calls with support, i still only have one bar of service. Calls are dropped frequently and it seems to be affecting my internet as well. The antenna are big and bulky and signal improvement is not worth the ridiculous amount of money spent.

  23. Weboost

Live in the middle of nowhere. It works great! Worth the money.

  24. Bellaboo10

Improved some, not as much as I expected. Still helpful

  25. ShaynToo

Purchased it and the installer said it was made for one room and would not do anything to help extend due to the size of the rooms.

  26. Kimba

Signal boost was great. Installation was a little more invasive than expected. I would recommend.

  27. Superior

Far exceeded my expectations. Signal strength increased 30 times higher than it was prior to installation.

    Great installation.

  28. Bootsie1

Bought the installed top of the line version. Installers came and wouldn’t mount above eaves on 1st floor . So ended up getting a $1200 cell booster that didn’t do anything at all. Now I have holes drilled in the wall and an antenna that I can’t physically take down myself. Can’t return without the entire package. Don’t waste your money unless you can install yourself at higher point than looking straight at your neighbors house below roof line.

  29. CountryFolk

We struggled with cell phone service being out in the middle of nowhere country AND a metal roof. We had to go outside to get a call, sometime get a signal by one of our windows. With 4 teenagers… that wasn’t cutting it. So I did research and read about WeBoost. We were desperate. I went to Best Buy and got the complete home system because I knew I would not have a clue on how to install it. Well worth the $200 difference. I bought it on a Wednesday and they installed it on Friday. We went from no service or little service to literally 3 or 4 bars! This has been a huge blessing especially since I work from home. Our whole house feels connected to the world again LOL.

  30. Four

It works in my house. Coverage isn’t as great as advertised, but it increases in most of my house.

  31. CJenkins

Product works great for me out in my rural area. I got the tech support with it and had no issues with installation and Appointment time. Installer was courteous, punctual, professional, and knowledgeable

  32. SavannahMom

Set up was easy. Installers were polite and prompt.

  33. SamsungQLED55

Works really good. Not whole house signal but I do have a two story. No signal in the yard but mounted high I have 3 bars 5 g running 50mb. Recommend

  34. Raffsmama

The system itself works great. The pro that installed it was awesome. The only bad thing is the price.

  35. Goodness12870

Went from having 1 bar to 4. I wish we would have done this years ago. Install was great.

  36. GBaker

So, I’m disappointed. First I work from home so having cell service inside the house is very important. I did however expected more from the product. It took the signal I had outside and move it into one small 12X12 room inside. I live in a two-story house. To obtain the best signal it would need to be installed at the highest point. The installer didn’t feel comfortable doing this so placed it on the side of the house at the fascia and gutter. Not at the peak. He was also limited in getting the cable into the house. I would encourage anyone interested should make sure they have at least 3 or 4 bars just outside your front or back door before spending the money for this product. Also make sure your property is free of any trees or obstructions. I didn’t feel it was fair to give a single star since the device did bring the signal into the house if only one small room.

  37. Red94

Did not work even on a farm with no trees around it didnt work at all like they say

  38. Defy65

Love it,but inside unit gets hot needs a fan installed to keep it cooler

  39. Bippus

We went from two bars to five. It is worth every penny.

  40. user331480

the product may be fine the installer did not know his job
he came unprepared, placed the antenna to far from unit
and did not let us know we did not have proper signal for this to work long term

  41. RandyF

Great product, went from 1 bar to 4 bars on cell phone.

  42. Justin

This is a joke. The installer told me it only do one room, he off the record recommended me to return it. What does that tell you? Buyer with no cell service this is not the answer.

  43. AnnaW

Says whole home but really just works in room with booster.

  44. MikeF

Had to return product because Installation Company OnTech had a internal system issue that was impacting there customer service operations, In short this meant that I was unable to schedule my installation which was Included in the purchase price. It has been over a week now and OnTech is still unable to schedule the installation.

  45. Chicobestbuy

Made a big difference. Went from zero/1 to 2/3 and no more dropped calls

  46. BadShah

Zip Zero difference to signal strength. It’s a complete rip off. Best Buy sells it but installation is done by the manufacturer. Unprofessional installer had come who didn’t have device to show if signals improved. No difference to signals and there’s no after sales service.

  47. Raphael

I bought this device as our house did not have good T mobile reception. The installation staff were very nice and efficient, that is the reason for the two stars. However, after spending over $1400 (after tax) and 3-4 hours of installation work, the antenna placement on our roof, drilling the walls to pass wires, etc this device made zero change in our reception. Will return the device but someone has to go up on our roof and take the antenna down which is a pain

  48. MikeG

I went from one bar to four and five bars on this booster. The installer was very helpful and he did a good job on everything

  49. SamR

Great installation, installed professionally and aimed to the nearest tower

  50. DewayneB

install went fast and smooth. went from 0-2 bars and skipping words to all bars well worth the money
