I bought this for the XBox One. I can’t speak for use with the newest XBox, but for One it is great. 5TB is room for a lot of games. The games will play from the hard drive. It’s small enough that it fits on the shelf, without being unsightly. ONE WARNING: When removing from the package, the plastic shell is two pieces, NOT a hinged “clamshell” design, so when you pull the two tabs to open it the hard drive will fall out. So open it over a table, so it doesn’t fall to the floor.

This will store backwards compatible games only. If you put a Xbox Series X/S game on it, it will require you to move the game to internal storage before you can play the game. I have had mine for a few months and while I like the storage the cord is loose and I can’t charge my controller while I have this plugged in. If you play more backwards compatible games like I do then I would suggest you get it, if you don’t I would recommend you get an expansion card.

Great hard drive. Have always had good products from WD. Needed more room on my Xbox and this definitely made the difference. Not able to store the newest games on this drive as they require a faster reading speed than this offers but it reads great for my extensive collection of older games with no lag.

Hard Drive died in under 3 weeks. Bad sectors. Crystal Disk Info shows it as bad. Dont use it to storage anything important that you don’t want to loose.
