The new design of the remote case is vastly improved over the original remotes that came with the system.

2/10/15- VIPER LE RESPONDER REMOTE 7254V Review.
This is one excellent remote. The distance it can transmit is absolutely incredible. I can hit my car’s system from inside any tall building or flat ones like a Super Walmart in the back isle of the giant metal and concrete building.

Besides arming / disarming and starting your engine, this multi-function remote does more things that you can remember. You should probably leave a small copied cheat sheet in your home and glove compartment so you can review all the functions when/if you forget. However, basic operation is intuitive, simple and fast.

FYI- Viper has discontinued showing the 7254V on their web site in place of the newer 5806V remote. However, Best Buy and the big on-line retailers still seem to sell them. I do not know if the two remotes are interchangeable, but I would bet they are. I’ll ask and try to update this review when I find out.

The Viper 7254V IS interchangeable with the Python 872 and the Clifford 7251X and any of these companies that manufactured car security and/or Remote Start systems that originally had any of these remotes come with them. I believe they are all the exact same remote in a different package and are all 100% interchangeable.

The 7254V takes two 1.5 volt CR2016 lithium disc batteries. Use only Energizer, Sony, Maxell or Duracell to maximize battery life and signal strength.

One helpful feature is this remote can be programmed to make it necessary to hit the start button more than once within a short timeframe in order to start your engine. I believe this is called “lockout” and is done so you don’t accidentally hit the start button when the remote is in your pocket. This was a common complaint with some previous Viper Remotes.

    Here’s why this is a 4 star review instead of 5 stars…
I had my Viper 4204V 2-Way Remote Start System installed on 7/22/13 (about 19 months ago) and am beginning to have issues with the remote (I’m almost positive it’s a remote issue, not main CPU issue). The remote seems to be losing it’s mind, sometimes giving a fault tone when I simply push the start button, but then the engine starts. It also sometimes gives lower volume or no confirmation tones and button push tones. It is totally intermittent. This whacky behavior has made me distrustful of it, so I just purchase another new 7254V, even though the original one still starts my car and unlocks it just fine. You get to trust and know your remote, and this one is definitely giving signs of alzheimers. I am going to talk to the Best Buy installation tech (Joe in Warwick, RI) who is quite amazing with his knowledge about Viper products. He may say it just needs reprogramming? He did a good, clean install and I know a good install when I see it). I will try to update my rating here if I find my remote just needs reprogramming.

I purchased this remote to replace the original that came with my system (about 6 years ago). Viper has since redesigned it, making it more sturdy, which was why I needed to replace the original anyway; both of them in fact.
