  1. MarioLap

I have been researching different projectors for awhile and came across this unit in an article. So happy I looked into I’m truly amazed at the quality and how easy it was to setup. I’m currently projecting it on my flat white wall, but plan to get a screen soon. Highly recommend picking up a sound system.

  2. MHohn

    Pros:

Ultra Short Throw = Means no professional setup cost needed. Mine sits next to the wall next to my PS4 and it looks like it belongs there. This feature alone will save you $500-1000
The 4K image quality on the VAVA seems even better than my 65” tv. Most people will be blown away.
Appears to be a lot brighter and more vibrant than regular projectors. I’m now using this as my main TV.
Futuristic design. The design, remote, and interface is very simply. Reminds me of Apple
Easy to use interface and remote.

    Cons:

Software features is easy to use but a little too minimalistic. I would recommend getting a Chromecast to unlock some more apps and features.

I will continue using this as my main TV.

I have a large living room and was originally planning to fill it with a 85” LED TV but decided to try the VAVA 4K Laser Projector instead as the cost was similar. Now the TV vs Projector debate is something that a lot of people like myself considered but the newest advancements in laser + ultra short throw technology goes a long way in closing that gap more than ever before. Here’s my honest review on why I made the decision with the VAVA 4K Laser Projector.

First and foremost, I have the VAVA set to display a 120” size. Compared to my original plan of running an 85” LED TV, the 120” setup provides approximately 99.3% additional viewable area as an 85” TV, approximately DOUBLE the size. In practice, after getting used to the VAVA for the past few weeks, the thought of going back to 85” honestly makes me cringe (which is hilarious considering 85” is huge for most people’s standards), but that’s what happened. The WOW factor of the 120”, in a big room, on a form factor which sits against the wall is totally off the chart when seen in person. There’s a real cinematic feel to the home that’s not possible with a TV and it really feels like you are in a theater. My friends were impressed. My GF was impressed. Everyone who has seen it was impressed.

Secondly, while the picture on the VAVA is good even with some light in the room, with the lights SLIGHTLY dimmed, the VAVA destroys the 85” setup. While no projector can ever beat a TV in terms of being flexible with all lighting conditions, the brightness and picture quality on the VAVA is good enough to make the trade off worth it for me. It’s worth noting that they do make ALR screens designed to magnify the light from UST projectors like the VAVA and reject ambient lighting which allows for a near-complete day time viewing experience which closes this gap even more.

Third, the VAVA is brain dead easy to setup. It sits alongside my PS4 against the wall and I didn’t have to spend an extra penny to set it up. The ultra short throw solves the issue with the clutter and installation process that plagues regular projectors and just makes everything simple and clean. I read another customer review that called this feature game changing, and I have to agree.

Fourth, the picture and sound quality are both really good. The VAVA supports 4K and the image looks awesome in person. Colors are vibrant and on a big screen, you can make out all the little wrinkles and pores on a person. I have a cheap soundbar that costs about $120 on Black Friday and the VAVA’s Harmon Kardon soundbar is both louder and sounds better.

Lastly, my only issue with the VAVA (and any projector setup) is the input lag with games. You don’t notice it with single player games, but die hard gamers will get a faster input response with a TV. Input lag has been the achilles heel of projector gaming and the VAVA is no exception in this department. For me, I don’t really notice it but this is something worth mentioning if you are on the fence and plan on using it for heavy gaming.

All in all, the VAVA has been well received by professional critics and there are a ton of positive reviews online already. I was on one of the guys who were originally on the fence, but you can add me to the list of happy customers that made the jump.

  4. SLevinson

This was the first time I ever experienced a projector, and I am very happy with the Vava. The picture is awesome and gets huge, I will not be able to go back to a regular TV.

  5. JayBush

I’ve been a long-time user of long-throw projectors (basically went from a tiny 15” TV+VCR combo to a projector; never bought a “real” TV lol) so I already knew the setup for the VAVA will be easier thanks to the ultra short throw. There’s no need to get extra hardware to hang it from the wall or ceiling, you just put the projector right up to the screen and away you go. What I didn’t expect was the amazing 4K resolution-it’s amazingly sharp and bright so it made it worth rewatching my favorite shows, which I usually never do! Another thing that surprised me is the sound quality. Thanks to Harman Kardon, you get decent audio right out of the box. Of course it’ll never compare to a proper home theater sound system, but depending on your preference, you may never need to upgrade. Lastly, I love that the design is minimal with a wraparound fabric that makes it easier to blend into my home.

I have had this projector for about a month now, and currently have it paired with an Elite Screens 120″ Cinewhite screen. Overall, I love this projector. With that said, here are some details I found if you are considering this projector:

    1) EASY SETUP: For 120″ screen, I have it about 12″ away from the wall and about 11″ below the bottom of the screen. Just project your image on the wall first so you have a good idea where to mount your screen. It is then easy to “fine tune” the picture using the keystone correction in the menu.

    2) PICTURE QUALITY: With the Elite Screens Cinewhite screen (has a gain of 1.1), in LOW LIGHT the picture is VERY GOOD, contrast is excellent, colors are vibrant and picture is crisp and sharp. In DAYLIGHT (room with multiple large windows), the picture is still very usable, but some noticeable washout from ambient light. I am looking into ALR (ambient light rejecting) screens to improve this, but there are a lot of variables (gain, contrast, etc) that I am learning before making this investment, as they start at $1,300 and up. This projector will not be as bright and vivid as a good 4K TV, but it’s contrast is exceptional, and with the right screen it should be very close (and 120″!).

    3) SOUND: The built in soundbar does sound nice, significantly better than TVs I have had. Admittedly though, I only listed to it for a few minutes, as I have the HDMI of all of my devices running through my AVR and use that for sound.

    4) FAN NOISE: In it’s “normal” picture mode, the fans run at a low speed, and I don’t notice the fan sound. If I put the picture brightness in “high”, the fans will cycle from slow to high speed, and you can hear the fans a little more. Again, not really noticeable if you are watching anything with reasonable volume, and not at all noticeable when you turn up the volume (movies, etc).

    WISHLIST:
    a) REMOTE CONTROL: This comes with a blue-tooth remote, which works just fine. My only wish is that it integrated with smart home devices (Alexa, etc), as I have most of my house setup this way. So far, I have not been able to find a solution to this.
    b) DISPLAY BRIGHT MODE: In settings, you can change the display mode to “Bright”, which adds just a bit more “pop” to the picture, but it resets to standard mode once you turn off the unit, so you need to go to the menu every time you want to go back to Bright mode.

SUMMARY: Overall, as stated, I love this projector and highly recommend it. The price is far below anyone else, with the Optoma being the only closely priced unit I could find, but still $600 more (I didn’t consider the Xiaomi or other Chinese brands that, as of now, aren’t readily available and have menus and apps partially in Chinese). I highly recommend you look at various YouTube reviews of this and other projectors to give you a better sense if this is right for you. GOOD LUCK!

  7. David32ny

So far i love this projector. I paired it with a 100”Vividstorm screen,

  8. scoobysti21

Phenomenal projector for the price. We are not allowed to hang anything from the ceiling but wanted the theatre experience. This did not disappoint!

  9. Norrie

Absolutely easy to set up and use. Paired it with Apple TV. Surprisingly good image quality with very decent sound (way above average TV sound), although it’s used with a Sonos ARC system. The effect of large screen size (130 in) on the wall is terrific. Tried to use on a 100 in pull-down screen, it didn’t work well at all as the screen is not flat. Got the unit with $600 discount at Bestbuy, worth it. We have multiple TV units (55 to 85in from plasma to oled), somehow we are constantly drawn to the projection for watch movies.

  10. Average

quality build and excellent customer service. Ended up getting 2 of them to use as presentation projectors. The ultra short throw is incredible. Laser is the way to go for sure.

  11. CuriousGeorge

Great video quality and sound but the OS needs to be updated. No Netflix built in unfortunately which was a let down. Otherwise great product.

  12. HomeMaker

Easy to setup, great picture, perfect for movie nights.

  13. Krissy255

Awesome projector! Yes its pricy but its so worth it. Makes my living room feel like im at the movies. Speakers are also really nice. It also came packaged really well. Highly recommend!

  14. Bob59

it was Great experience , you can project direct on wall (won’t recommend though ) , very bright.

  15. CDoug

This is a great product. You will not be disappointed.

  16. Jlau

So far so good. Really bright and clear picture. Simple set up.

  17. HKolli

Haven’t expected this from vava. Purchased on deal. Picture quality is pretty good. When you compete with Samsung it is little bit lag in contrast but o haven’t seen a very drastic difference. The interface is buggy used Apple TV. Overall very satisfactory with this product.

  18. Teather

That’s a wonderful thing I’m enjoying it I would recommend everyone entirely to have one and I garanti that u guys won’t regret of ur purchase

  19. Junior

Have projector for a few weeks now and it has not disappointed. Picture quality is excellent and the integrated speakers are good enough to not have go buy speakers. Granted for a better experience surround sound is better. Paired it with Elite Screens 123″ Aeon CLR screen and have basically not used my 75″ TV since. I have found that the air vents can be a bit noisy when the sound is less than 1/4 of the volume.

  20. RaviJ

Less noise and Excellent clarity. This projector has lot of features like 3D, audio output through Bluetooth. It really gives a theater experience when projected with 150″ display.

  21. NorJack

The Vava 4k projector has a great image, I really enjoyed the color and the sound was great. However mechanical noise (fan, DLP disk, etc.) was far higher than 32 Db in its specifications, rather when tested it was 50.5 Db. The difference between a whisper and moderate rain. The when on, but sitting idle, the projector can be heard across the room (roughly 25 feet). The noise can be described as a high pitch frequency that personally gave me a headache after extended use.

Further research showed that this is a common issue reported by multiple owners.

  22. Srini

My first laser projector and it is the best i could get in the market for the deal. if you are looking for 4K projectors, as per my research this is the best for the price on deal.

there is a newer version if its on sale go for it,

  23. Unknown

Best projector I’ve ever owned, set up is very easy and the picture is very nice.

  24. Badri

One of the best UST projector in this price range. This one is one of the few where you can project upto 150″ without losing the brightness, sharpness and overall picture quality. Very easy setup. However make sure you have a good media player, even a Fire stick for watching content. The sound is also pretty good with the inbuilt sound bar. Overall best value for the money.

  25. Bill

Image quality is great and device is very quiet. Remote works well.

  26. Unsat

Good product. But first purchase was defective epson. Customer services was worst ive ever dealt with.

  27. Doverdown

A very nice bright projector with high resolution and sharp colors

  28. AlexM

It was a great Purchase Just Wish that in daylight would be better view kinda dark in daylight

  29. Gaut

Overall good but the userinterface is not easy and could not connect my iPhone via Bluetooth or other methods which is a bummer.

  30. FRUSTRATED

You can get much better from LG for the same price
Also the company Vava seems to be more interested in their second machine and not really updating this one any longer

  31. ProbablyJohn

I spent months reading reviews and creating pro and con lists of all the u.s.t. projectors and finally decided. Not disappointed with this purchase. Also, it went on sale a few days after and Best Buy refunded me the difference. So glad I got it from them.

  32. JustANerdWithOpinions

Decided it was going back in 30 min before the sun even went down (but not because of brightness):

    1. You DO NOT clearly label a 4K Laser Projector as 4K and ONLY 4K when it in fact has a native 1080p resolution.

    2. Auto-keystone correction should be a given for a pre joe for you spent $2600 on

    3. It should be possible to get a square with manual keystone correction at that price (I tried for an hour….still not square)

    4. A device connected to a 5g router with a gigabit connection shouldn’t take 5.5 minutes to download a 47Mb app (just download. Pre-install. Yeah, I double checked my internet)

  33. Cagliostro

Easy set up and calibration. Love the picture, even in normal daylight.

  34. WilliamH

I have enjoyed my VAVA for a little over a year. The picture is starting to get dark spots in the picture. We have had NO VAVA consumer support. $4000. bown the drain.

  35. cad700

I currently own an LG PF1000 UST LED DLP projector, it’s about 7 years old but still works great. I know projector technology is moving fast so I decided to go with the Vava. I truly expected the Vava to blow my LG away, it did not, as a matter of fact, some aspects of the LG are far superior. The picture on the Vava is brighter and the picture is superior but not by much, certainly not 1k dollars better. A big problem I have noticed is the video quality of Roku/Shield/Firestick or other streaming devices vs the native apps on smart TV’s. the picture quality difference is huge on every TV I’ve used. So it’s important that I have a TV or Projector that has a wide range of picture adjustments or an Android OS that allows me to load native apps. This is where the Vava first failed me, all of the picture controls only make modest adjustments. I should be able to adjust my color, contrast and sharpness to be well beyond my preferences, the Vava doesn’t do that. This is extremely important as I’m a sports fan and enjoy older shows/movies. The apps you can load are very limited. I loaded a few non subscription necessary apps, none of them worked well. Most were apps I’ve never head of but YouTube would not play at all. Didn’t fool with it since I was going to return the projector. The speakers are amazing and loud however again they failed by not providing any individual bass and treble controls. Just the standard “movie”, “sports”, “normal auto settings. Overall, it’s not worth the cost vs other projectors I’ve seen.

  36. Karthik

Very good. Very big. Colourful. Keystone correction needs patience. UI is bad. Need firestick for sure

  37. SaKa

Its fine for its price but i’d strongly recommend paying a slight premium and getting the vava chroma instead, theres a huge difference in quality.

  38. Tak14

We purchased this VAVA unit after hearing the Laser TV is supposed to work different than the traditional projector, which should be able to use under regular indoor lights being turned on in the room. Turned out the picture is still too doomed when showing on the VAVA projector screen (over $400 for the screen alone), and we must turn off the lights to improve and get the best picture quality.
When the lights are off, the picture quality is amazing.
The internal speaker has great sound quality.

  39. AdrianG

Purchased back in February of 2022 and have been in love woth it ever since. I dont even have a screen for it and still am capable of enjoying every bit of an 120 inch captivating movie theatre experience. Jist need the popcorn now.

  40. SuryaP

Bought it in discount price. Good one to buy. Easy to setup.

  41. IsraC

I’ve had this for awhile with zero complaints. No dead pixels or anything.

  42. JesusIsLord

Excellent purchase! The clarity, the sound, and the short throw 7.5inches from the screen wall eliminated wires tracking everywhere, also the sound bar is awesome and that is encased inside the unit is a bonus. The Geek squad came and set up, although set up is nearly plug and play. We are able to turn it on by the VAVA remote, go to Roku remote. We used to have 3 remotes with the old system, one projector, one for the sound bar and one for the Roku. Totally love this movie theater experience, money well spent!

  43. TeresaL

Best movie projector ever !!!! I didn’t know if I was gonna actually like it because I couldn’t figure out the settings ! I got on YouTube and watched videos just like everyone else and I was able to complete the setup!

  44. Lindsayr

Projector wont last you a year. You will get white pixel spots on the screen and there is no warranty or product support from the company to fix it. Very little features and the remote is annoying. I have to use my remote everyday just to click 1 button so I can enlarge the screen. Screen also isnt bright enough during the day to see quality picture.

  45. JonathanC

Absolutely loved it, picture was great, colors were great…. for 3 years…. I now have a dead pixel and it doesn’t keep focus very well any longer. Additionally the software likes to freak out randomly causing the screen to jitter making watching anything unbearable. Support was no help at all because it’s out of warranty. Don’t buy based on their 25000 hour advertising, that’s for the bulb alone. There’s a lot that can apparently go bad and they will not help you with it.

  46. DustinH

Owned this projector for 3 years and it developed a dead/stuck white pixel on the screen that cannot be fixed. I contacted customer support and they won’t do anything since it is out of warranty. They literally offered me a $15 coupon off a new $3k projector, what a joke.

  47. PatrickC

Like most i dont typically leave a review but i am very dissapointed in Vava and their 4k projector. Initially the projector was fantastic. I loved it and was very happy with my decision despite having read many who were ignored or neglected by vava when they clearly had faulty and defective units in the next gen chroma model. Despite this i decided their 4k model which was their flagship had been around long enough and any known issues or defects likely had already been corrected. Turns out this was very wrong. I advise anyone interested in this product to dig into reviews from owners after 12 or even 24 months. These units do not last. I bought my vava 4k 18 months ago. It developed a dead pixel about 2 months ago. I have gone back and forth with vava who putsources their customer service team on the otherside of the planet so all of their responses are between 1am and 2am. They tell you the warrant period is past and so there is nothing they can do. I inquired about repair options and here is the biggest issue of all. There is no one to repair it. They will humor your attempts and thank you for being a loyal customer but unfortunately nothing they will do reasonably to help support their product. If you read across multiple platforms this is far from an isolated incident. All pf the positive reviews from vava 4k owners are in the honeymoon phase of owning the projector. Unfortunately after the warranty period is up you can almost guarentee you will have an issue that ruins your positive experience and no one from Vava will be their to support you nor have they done anything to fix this problem and they still happily sell them to you. You should also beware the reason Vava projectors are not sold direclty on amazon is because they were banned for creating fake positive reviews to offset the negatives. My reomendation is to look for a more reputable company as today there are far more options than when i first bought.

  48. Pcgamer

Excellent picture and quality. Would highly recommend.

  49. Vicky

Product is good, but UI is not user friendly, also its appstore dont support all the apps like netflix, hulu in thier app store

  50. Dwyght

This VAVA 4k projector is a perfect 10, on a 5 point scale.

Why the 1 point on this 5 point scale?

You see, I LOVE this projector in my apartment. It is stunning, to say the least.

Its great on the stand, but I want to find a wall mount for it.
I need the floor space for my Electric Hunting Mountain Bike.

VAVA what do you recommend to mount it on the wall?
