Excellent lens, the materials are plastic but doesn’t feel cheap.
JaxGator –
Really like the versatility of this lens while saving money compared to a Sony lens for FX30. Autofocus works great and the constant 2.8 keeps the image looking great.

A Solid Performer for Capturing the Northern Lights in Alaska!
I recently had the opportunity to use the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Standard Zoom Lens for Sony during my unforgettable trip to Alaska to witness the stunning Northern Lights. Overall, I found this lens to be a solid performer, delivering excellent image quality and versatility for various photography situations.
The lens’s image quality is undoubtedly commendable. The fast f/2.8 aperture allowed me to capture the magical display of the Northern Lights with impressive sharpness and vibrant colors. The lens handled low-light conditions admirably, enabling me to freeze the dynamic motion of the celestial spectacle.
The 28-75mm focal length range proved to be versatile and practical during my Alaskan adventure. It allowed me to capture both wide-angle shots of the breathtaking landscapes and more intimate details of the Northern Lights display without the need to switch lenses frequently.
The lens’s autofocus performance was generally reliable, ensuring I could capture those fleeting moments of the Northern Lights dance. However, there were occasional instances where it struggled to lock onto the subject in challenging lighting conditions.
The lens’s construction is sturdy, and its weather-sealing provided peace of mind while shooting in Alaska’s unpredictable weather. Its lightweight and compact design made it easy to carry during long excursions to photograph the Northern Lights.
While the lens’s image quality is impressive overall, there were times when I noticed a slight loss of sharpness towards the corners of the frame, particularly at wider apertures. This issue was minor and didn’t significantly impact the overall quality of my images.
I was pleased with the lens’s close focusing ability, which allowed me to capture unique perspectives and details of the landscape while incorporating the mesmerizing Northern Lights in the background.
In conclusion, the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Standard Zoom Lens is a reliable performer, especially for capturing the enchanting Northern Lights in Alaska. Its image quality, versatility, and compact design make it a great companion for various photography needs. While it had a few minor quirks, they didn’t outweigh its overall strengths. If you’re looking for a solid and versatile lens to capture the magic of the Northern Lights and more, the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is definitely worth considering.

EvansM –
Really good lens for the price and very versatile and sharp
HaleyH –
SUPER GREAT QUALITY, is a bit on the heavier side. But it is a zoom lens and a great one at that! I loved it honestly, but then I did have to return it due to the tiny screws coming loose i believe because it was just so heavy for my Sony A7C. BUT huge but in the time that i did have it, this lens is absolutely amazing, it let me as a beginner photographer know what mm i like shooting at and the pictures came out amazing every time worth every penny!
The first 2 is pictures of mini posters I found & the last 3 are my own pictures I photographed, all of which still taken with this lens on my Sony A7C!
JasonJ –
Excellent all around lens. A tad bulky and there is some vignetting at full zoom but a good lens overall.
Jaden –

SidK –
Great lens, got it as a start for my Sony Mirrorless and couldn’t be happier. A fixed 2.8 across all focal lengths makes it a great starter lens over the standard f/4 kit lens.
Cameragirl –
Shot an event with this lens when I first got it. Did not disappoint. Super clear and using it for a wide angle was just perfect.

Mark –
For a fraction of the price of the Sony equivalent lens, this is just as fast and sharp. 10/10 would buy again if I had to.
ArthurS –
I’ve been doing photography for many years, and I usually buy only very expensive lenses. I needed a new 25 or 28 to 70 or 75 lens, when I saw this lens in full frame for my Sony A7R3 at F2.8 I couldn’t resist for the price. Let me tell you, it takes fantastic pictures. It’s definitely a great all around lens.
JelenaA –
Great lens! Very versatile with the focal length. 2.8 aperature is great as well
AlexJ –
Amazing zoom lens, exactly what I wanted & needed!

WilliamC –
Absolutely amazing lens! Better than the 24-70 GM lens I had and 700 dollars less!
JDAman –
Fast autofocus and excellent image quality right out of the box. I pairs well with the Tamron 17-28
SeanF –
I rented this lense a few months before purchasing it. It is an excellent lense for a sports videographer looking for a something that can capture wrestling, basketball, volleyball. It is decent for football field, but would be better for capturing pregame shots before switching out to a larger lense during the game.
Nandakishore –
Overall Lens is fine and best for beginners and macro photographers. Myself I liked the quality but I wish I have gone for 70-300 as I like capturing objects at longer distance
JimmyM –
Bang for your buck ! Good quality but the only issue I have is the lens acts weird when sun shines directly at it. You’ll see minor sunrays. Nonetheless, I recommend this lens
