This has been an extremely versatile all-in-one lens for me as a humble beginner. The 28-200 range is very nice as you don’t feel like your missing shots that you might want some extra reach. Using it with the crop sensor also helps extend and pictures remain sharp. Widening up to 28mm you get that 2.8 but as you zoom you’re quickly at f3 and 4 which is fine because images remain sharp. It’s a little over a pound feels solid in construction and it’s proven to be a reliable lens. I’m really impressed with this Tamron lens and the only thing I yearn for is some really good built-in image stabilization. At the price though A+

Great travel lens. Keeps me from having to change lenses 90% of the time. Much better than other superzooms, with some optical compromises. Very good center sharpness. Very good IQ on my Sony A7RII. Compares very favorably to the Sony 24-105 f4.

Great lens. I’m loving this lens, it’s not too heavy as many lenses in this range are. Easy to use.

I was looking for a versatile zoom for my full-frame Sony A7c and didn’t want to carry a heavy lens which would balance poorly with the small Sony body (with small handgrip). This lens is priced right and has very good image quality. I wish it was 24mm on the wide end but I’m willing to trade that off for the size and weight savings.

Purchased this lens for my Sony camera and was not disappointed. Given this price most lenses go for, this was a great deal.

This lens is by no means perfect, but for what it is, it is a good choice. Price point and overall ability is strong with this lens.
The F 2.8 goes away quick but overall sharpness is well above good enough for an enthusiasts photographer. If you are a pro, get something better but you already knew that.
Once I am done resizing the demo photos I will get them up. I like the overall clarity and sharpness throughout all rangers. It travels well and the lock is extremely useful for me.
If I had the funds, I would have gotten either the 24-70 GM or the similar Sigma.

This lens is in great demand because of it’s 28-200mm zoom range and Sony E-Mount attachment capability. Once ordered, Best Buy notified us when it was available to obtain and whether it was in stock or ready for pickup. Great service & great price! It is lightweight, easy to use, and as you can see by the very first photo taken, it really enhanced the image. This is of Kaneohe Bay on Oahu which was originally a volcano. The island you see is now a research ctr for the Univ. of HI to help save the wonderful turtles that are in the bay, varieties of sharks and other fish, as well as coral reefs. It was the the island that you saw (if you are old enough or like goofy comedies) that was right at the beginning of Gillian’s Island TV show. It is actually called “Coconut Island.”

convenience to focus sharp and pictures came out excellent

This is a very versatile lens and takes very sharp pictures. The AF works very quickly just like it should. It is a little heavier than I thought it would be.

This is my very first lens, so this review is from a beginner. I use this on the Sony A7 IV. I jumped right into this hobby and this lens was recommended to me by the camera associate at Best Buy. My pictures are sharp, I have a zoom of 200mm, I have a minimum of 28mm and the 2.8 allows me to take good pictures, even when I don’t have the best light.

Pretty good lens overall, does everything it needs to do

Extremely practical lens, with very good image quality throughout the zoom. Feels good in the hand, happy with the purchase, very good value. Would definitely buy other Tamron lenses for Sony.
Bigpaco213 –
Great lens to carry with you on a hike since it has a nice 200mm reach. Yea its on a lil heavy side but its a FF lens. I use it on my a6400 with no probelm. Its been my main shooter.
HaydnR –
It is excellent for travel, light compact and a good focus. a great plugin with sony Alpha 7iv.

This is truly an all-in-one lens! With the range of 28-200mm and a still allowing for extra sharpness with the F2.8 aperture, I am very pleased with my purchase and this Tamron product!
HonestReview –
Awesome lens to use all around. I got tired of switching between lenses and went with this one that would cover everything I needed from sports to regular vintage video looks. Lens has a ton of potential and arguably the best one for the price besides the 35mm-150mm but that is double the price of this one.

I bought this and am using it in place of the kit lens. Love the clarity and sharpness. Also love the zoom level, great for when you have kids. Perfect lens for my needs.

Works well with my A7IV. My go-to travel lens. I don’t need to carry multiple lenses while traveling which is a blessing.

AMAZING lens, Have taken some amazing photos with it and I couldn’t happier with it!
NickN –
This is excellent walk around and travel lens. Make sure you have enough light and good low light camera

This is a great all rounder lens for Sony e-Mount. Covers a lot of ground and doesn’t require the sale of body parts to acquire. Takes really good photos, especially for its price point. I owned this lens once before and sold it, but after trying a lot of other more expensive lenses, I repurchased this one because it’s hard to beat as a take anywhere lens.

Compactness , 2.8 , 200mm are the main selling points here. I really do like this lens. I’ve just had some issues with autofocus on an older sony body (7r3). I updated the fw with a supposed fix for some autofocus issues but still having ~30% missing in faster/tracking situations. May just be a sony body limitation for non first party lenses, my 85 does not have these issues. Hoping another update may fix the issue.
