The 17-28mm brings a focal range that I desperately needed and the static 2.8 through the range aperture means I can isolate my subject at any focal length. Sharpest at around f4 from edge to edge no issues with fringing or coma and minimal distortion that is easily fixed in post. I will admit that Lightroom has yet to produce a lens profile for this one, but I am sure it’s on its way. Tamron has thrown down the gauntlet going toe to toe with the g master series. Just need a telephoto zoom now!

Awesome wide lens and very sharp with a f2.8 and if you wanted a native lens similar it would cost you more than double this Tamron 17-28.
Love the price & quality.

I’ve been practicing different angles, zoom etc and it appears to be what I want to be able to do with my camera!

After 28-75 this is a must lens. Autofocus works like native glass

When I don’t have any particular photographic adventures to go on, I often walk through town and shoot buildings, churches, etc. For a while, I was using a 50mm, which is a 75mm on my camera. Not ideal for wide shots, but I didn’t really like my kit lens. I finally purchased this, and after a handful of uses, I’m satisfied with the results. On a crop body, this lens is 25.5-42mm, which makes it a pretty decent walk around lens. It’s bigger and heavier than my other lenses, but that was expected since it’s a full frame. Manual focus ring is smooth. Zooms in and out easily as well. It’s sharp throughout the zoom range and I haven’t noticed any particularly soft edges or anything like that. I suppose it’ll be a more specialized Lens when I graduate to a full-frame camera, but for the crop sensor it can do a bit of everything.

Tamron delivers great quality budget lens for Sony full frame cameras. Works really well with Sony’s Autofocus feature as well as subject detection (human and pets).

This compliments the Tamron 28-75mm very well and now I use the duo for travel due to their small size. You can’t get another f/2.8 in that similar focal range for that relative small size. Very sharp! Tamron has done it again. I hope they make small f/1.8 primes someday!

Very pleased with this lens. The light weight allows for ease of carry all day long, and this lens is very sharp. It is actually the only non-sony brand lens that I own, and because of this lens, I am considering adding the 70-180/2.8 as a companion with this lens and the 55/1.8za & 35/2.8za for a lightweight travel kit.

Great for its price. If you’re looking to make vlog style videos, I highly recommend this lense.

Great lens to pair with the Tamron 28-75. For the price can’t be beat. Very sharp at all aperatures. Build quality is fine for the price, don’t expect G master quality/features at this price point. Fast, quiet and accurate autofocus.

Heard someone say, who needs the native glass when you can get this for much cheaper..still prefer the native glass, but no one would ever be disappointed with the quality of this lens. Love the weight..perfect pairing for the new 7C coming out soon!
Justin –
Great lens, fast focus, light and cant beat The price compared to the Sony lens.

This is the second Tamron lens as the first one had defects, which cannot be seen to the naked eye.
I questioned if this item is a used or returned as there is no seal on the box.
The MOD was nice enough to help me. He assured me that if this item also has a defect that he would be happy to do a refund and void the restocking fee.

This lens is great!! It was my starter lens for a Sony A7III. I would recommend Tamron any day. Best Buy has the best prices!
Mjphotos –
It’s soo good sharp fast focus wide enough to vlog
Camera –
A bit pricey but overall Great product ! Zooms out far enough to capture it all !!
JamesSellsHomes –
Its sharp, small, light….my only gripe is no manual focus. If you can live without that, the n this is a very good lens.
Gimpy –
It’s awesome. Buy one.. you will love it. Couldn’t find one used anywhere so I bought new. I used my birthday discount and got $80 off.

I love this lens! When I first got the a7iii back in 2018, the 28-75 was my first lens! When they released this one it was a no brainer! Autofocus is great, the focal length is perfect for videography and photography both!

Had it only a few days. So far it is good. Also, I have the Tamron 28-75. There were occasions when the 28 was okay when I repositioned, but would have been happier to have had a wider lens. Also, at my amateur level of skill I need more practice before I’d be willing to spend more money.
Colorsoner –
Best overall lens money can buy. This is my daily driver for my Sony a7c and some a7iii. Highly recommend it.
Kamagi –
So far so good. I have been waiting to get my hands on this lens for awhile now. It finally became available few weeks ago and I jumped on it right away. I knew what I wanted so the lens produce images exactly I expected. You lose about 7 mm on telephoto end but I was willing to forego that get 35 mm 1.8 later. I also have sigma 24 70 so 35mm is covered for now.
Very light in comparison to other that are in similar focal length, the value, and great image quality.
I paired with my A7III and I like it so far.
Great lens overall
Robert –
One of the best lenses I have hands down for the money. If your looking for depth look no further for the price.

Great Wide angle lens To add to your kit. Solid build and overall good quality
RPM8 –
Great lens! Does everything as expected. It’s fairly light as well…
Redd –
This lens is sharp, easy to use, and lightweight.
I like the 2.8 aperture. At this price versus the Sony lens, you can’t beat it.

After spending bunch of time looking for a fast wide zoom lens, I’ve made a right decision for my awesome photos!
Ruiw28 –
The lense worth its price. Light, sharp, and cheap. The 17mm wide angle is wide eanough for me, especially at this price. The big aperture allows more possibilities.
CapturingMoment –
The lens I recently acquired has proven to be a game-changer for my photography journey. Its exceptional clarity and sharpness truly elevate the quality of my images. Whether shooting landscapes or portraits, this lens consistently delivers stunning results. The fast and accurate autofocus ensures I never miss a fleeting moment, while the impressive bokeh adds a beautiful touch to my subject isolation. Its build quality feels robust and reliable, making it a versatile companion in various shooting conditions. I’ve found it to be particularly adept in low-light situations, allowing me to explore creative possibilities without compromising image quality. Overall, this lens has revitalized my passion for photography, and I can confidently say it’s a must-have for any enthusiast or professional seeking uncompromising image quality.
