Surprisingly worth the price. Blue switch feel without the sounds.

  4. Anuj

Love the color changing scheme on the keyboard and looks good at night time, and clicks for the keyboard while using is soft and not noisy.

  5. beers4ever

Easy to setup and use. Able to configure the keyboard settings

  6. Legit

Good overall keyboard will get a bunch of hair a other junk onder the mechanical keys don’t think the warranty will cover that other than that great keyboard red linear keys.

  7. jaycee

Although little expensive but my 13 years old son loves it and is very happy with lcd lights that can be programmed etc overall a good buy

  8. MoreCards

Amazing keyboard. Really love using it. It’s my daily driver

  9. Minifridge

Amazing keyboard would recommend to anyone who games on pc

  10. NebulaDragon

This is my first mechanical keyboard. having used almost a year now. I can say that I enjoy this keyboard very much. It feels so much smoother to type than my previous keyboard.

  11. Tobin

So, the product itself is fine, for a while. I eventually ran into some trouble with keys which is to be expected. The issue is not the product, but the customer support. Its OK to have a product and I’m fine with there being defects or wear issues, but if you don’t make a good faith effort to resolve people’s problems, I cannot recommend the product.

  12. Lynn

like keyboard does everything and the light are fun

  13. Victor

I bought an Apex 7 Red. I was considering an Apex 5 and impulse-bought the Apex 7 for $60 more because it has a USB passthrough port and I value being able to plug my mouse into my keyboard. But I misunderstood that, on gaming keyboards, a “passthrough” USB is just that. There’s no USB hub inside the keyboard, so you have to plug in TWO USBs at your computer, and one is passed through to the USB port on the keyboard. To me, that’s pointless. But I have another keyboard that has the hub, and I assumed it would work the same. That’s on me for not doing my research.

But then the real problems began. When this monstrosity powers up, its Arm processor shows off by sweeping vistas of light across the keyboard. So impressive! So… ANNOYING. Every keystroke creates a wave of color across the keys. I want a backlight, but I don’t want a circus act. But, hey, it’s fully configurable, so I downloaded their software and learned how to subdue the backlights and make them one color. But the color intensity was too strong, I wanted to tone it down. There was a button to “reduce intensity by 50%” or something like that, but when I pressed it, the backlights turned off. I couldn’t un-press the button. I tabbed into some other place and the default values for the profile I had selected (config 5) switched back in. Yuk. So I toned it down again and decided to live with higher-than-desired intensity until I had more time to spend learning how to configure the keyboard. Made sure to save config 5, and I was up and running.

I investigated the built in menu items using the little screen and buttons in the upper right, being careful not to save anything. Then I unplugged the keyboard from the USB and plugged it back in, and it went back to defaults. Bad programming. That wasn’t my doing. I had been careful to not change a config after saving.

I was getting pretty annoyed with myself for having bought this grandiose garbage for far too much money, so I quickly reconfigured it with a single backlight color, and started working.

But as I began doing work, I noticed that some of the keys weren’t working correctly. I focused specifically on PgDn. It just didn’t work. But there were others I didn’t bother to write down. At this point, I thought “maybe I screwed it up”, because on this keyboard every single key can be configured. So I had to pull up their Windows software again. Checked around, and the PgDn key looked OK. So I went online and searched for a way to manually reset the keyboard to factory defaults, and found a page on the Steel Series website that had a procedure: unplug the keyboard, press the volume wheel and button below it simultaneously while plugging it back in to the USB. When I did this, the whole keyboard started flashing red backlighting, and just stayed in that mode. When will it finish? I let it go for about a minute, then removed/reinserted the USB, and it still had my single-toned backlight color, so I guess that didn’t work. The web page is here: https://support.steelseries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043313811-My-keyboard-is-experiencing-software-issues

There is a video on that same web page that shows how to reset to factory defaults using the built-in menus, and that seemed to work, but it didn’t change the fact that the PgDn key didn’t work. So I pulled the PgDn keycap off of the underlying switch, and used my thumbnail to press down hard on the switch, and was able to send a PgDn event to the PC. Well, folks this is a brand new keyboard. A switch like that should never have made it out of the factory. And I’m 90% sure PgDn wasn’t the only bad key. That’s just bad quality control.

So I took the Steelseries Apex 7 back, and I’m typing this on my new Razer BlackWidow V3, which is a lot cheaper than the circus freak that I wasted two hours on.

  14. Mikey

All around a great keyboard for the price. The little OLED screen can be fun to mess around with. The switches feel premium and great to use.

  15. Glock

I’ve had this keyboard for quite some time now. I love it as much now as when I first got it to play games. Wish it was a bit cheaper but money well spent in my opinion. Software is easy, operation is flawless.

  16. LuisBuckle

This keyboard has promise but the ABS keycaps will shine really quick and won’t feel as good anymore. The overall keyboard performs absolutely amazing and the mechanical switches are smooth and fast. If it wasn’t for the ABS keycaps then this would be my End game keyboard but unfortunately for the price it’s at they should include double shot PBT keycaps.

  17. JimP

So far this is working as advertised. Have used for about 2 weeks.

  18. Saltymo

For being my first expensive keyboard, this thing is amazing and for me personally I read a lot of the reviews of things before pulling the trigger on buying things. The apex 7 has by far been amazing it’s customizable so many features that work with it. I don’t have anything really bad to say about it so far.

  19. Ileip

It clicks and clacks and makes lots of noise oh so very nice

  20. Jose

I’m happy wit this purchase it so nice and click love the sound of the keys

  21. EvlDrgnX

Solid Keyboard, feels nice and sturdy. Keys are a bit more “clicky” that I thought it would be but they are good and responsive. The LED screen is a nice touch, I have mine set to give PC stats.

  22. Sean

Amazing keyboard! I Have had this keyboard for almost a year now and it has kept its quality keystrokes. Great for playing games like LoL, Valorant, Siege, and Tarkov.

  23. Eldon

This keyboard is great for typing everyday including internet surfing and games.

  24. Blinkcamera

Good working keyboard. Would buy again if needed. Good price.

  25. geeta

My son loves this. He uses it all the time to play games.

  26. Surferlove

Love the deep click sound and the leds are brilliant. And super customizable

  27. TechSupport

These keyboards have some type of programming issue that makes them reboot like crazy. I’ve gone through 4 of them and finally switched to Corsair which doesn’t have the RGB responsiveness but doesn’t reboot every two seconds.

  28. Sunny

Top notch key board. Little expensive but still a great buy. Would recvommend

  29. Katie

Good keyboard. Solid response. Cool rbg colors. Comfortable

  30. User2345

Great crisp keyboard! High quality. I enjoy the light up options

  31. CESAR

best nice looking rgb keyboard really loved it recommended

  32. sp90

very good item. works well and easy to use. good for computer

  33. z5nd3r

Excellent keyboard. Quieter keys. Keyboard feedback is great! The sturdiness of the keyboard makes it feel like an expensive piece of equipment.

  34. Gerald

Great keyboard. Great software. would give it a 5/5 but the price is a wee steep in my opinion.

  35. Waphy

Very nice sounding keyboard. Really fast keyboard.

  36. Ranger58784615

I highly recommend this device. The keys feel perfect the customization options feel limitless! Its an all around GREAT product.

  37. Rusty

This keyboard is the best I’ve ever used. Best responding (red) switches, macros capabilities, and plenty of preset lighting configurations. After years of using other brands (Microsoft, Razer, Logitech), this is by far the best one. Even my wife noticed right away that it was far superior to the Razer Black Widow that it replaced. Definitely worth the money for the switches alone, and would recommend this over other brands all day long! If you’re thinking about dropping the money for this KB, do it and you’ll be glad you did!

  38. Kerns

Best keyboard I have owned!! The keys feel great when typing and the quality of the keyboard is great. The software to control the keyboard is really good too. 5/5 recommend.

  39. ShirleyL

My kid loves this key board, the colors are cool, it’s sleek and key strokes light up, super cool!

  40. Jadin

Been using this for 2 years and still fully works great!

  41. Tosyn

Good product, I bought the keyboard months ago, and up till now there is no complaint

  42. ViennaLager

Great keyboard! The linear keys are great. The noise from pressing the keys is minor and is satisfying. The fell of the key press is as expected and as advertised. The color patterns are excellent. I particularly like the way the keys light up around the key you press. The extra functions like the volume control are helpful and work great. For me the extra keypad is a necessity as i work with numbers all day long. I had a razer blackwidow elite which was more expensive and not as good. Definitely a great buy.

Only issue i had was when i plugged it into a usb hub that was connected to my laptop. When i plugged it directly into a usb slot on my computer it was smooth sailing. I’m thinking the issue wwas with my usb hub which i bought cheap.

  43. Ginger

I really like this keyboard. I like the clicking noise.

  44. Daniel

Been using this keyboard for nearly two years now and it’s served me well. Keycaps can easily be replaced with different colors and the OLED screen while a gimmick, has some great uses. From displaying what songs you’re listening to, to your PCs temps, CPU usage, and GPU and RAM usage. Though since it’s an OLED screen you will see burn in over time.

  45. Love

By far is the best keyboard I’ve used so far. Very comfortable wrist pad with solid long term build quality, the amazing sounding keycaps, metal frame for obvious gaming related reasons and also cause metal is just better in everyway, extreme customization options from the key trigger points, massive rgb preset options with individually customizable key effects, solid key binding options, and able to sync it with other steelseries products as icing on the cake.

  46. DominikW

Amazing quality and can be easily used with both Mac and windows os.

  47. EdwardM

All the bright colors… I like that the keys can individually be assigned colors.

  48. stringer

i love this key board it work really well. i like the little logo screen

  49. user970714

Nice, quiet keys with good feel, love the little display!

  50. Simon

I would recommend this keyboard. I have been using this keyboard for almost 2 years now. This keyboard is very good for the price that you pay, you get a very durable keyboard with a wrist rest, num pad, and a small programable screen on the top right. The only thing that I have found an issue with is that it seems to need some new keycaps, but the keyboard itself is perfect and still works.
