These nice looking headphones are very comfortable and are capable of very good sound. If you have normal hearing then achieving that should be relatively simple. However, I do not fall into that category so my route to headphone nirvana was quite a bit more involved. More on that later.

After installing the associated SoundCore app from the Google Play Store, getting these phones charged up (USB-C) and connected to the Wi-Fi network is very straightforward. BTW, that charge lasted quite a while for me. And yet that same app is where I spent a lot of time getting the headphones properly configured for my hearing. The first thing that happened was that the app conducted a hearing test in order to create a default sound profile to intall on the headphones. Sadly, I followed that process while wearing my hearing aids for which I should not have needed much of any correction at all. What I should have done is follow that procedure with my hearing aids removed. However, I was able to overcome my mistake by using the app’s manual configuration to create custom sound profiles to meet my needs. Now, they sound really good.

Just so people are aware, Soundcore is Anker’s line of audio products. Anker came into the scene seemingly out of nowhere as a prominent figure in the electronics and accessories market over the past few years. I’d put them on par with more established companies like Belkin and Mophie at this point. I’ve been purchasing their gallium nitride (GaN) technology power bricks and cables for ages now and have been fairly happy with my purchases. This is actually my first Soundcore product and I’m honestly surprised at how well it does compared to my other active noise cancelling (ANC) over-ears. I quite literally own all the mainstream ANC headsets by Sony, Bose, and Apple and TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION THE PRICE, this is a great option.

Sound quality could be better – particularly with the richness of the sound itself and the overall soundstage/fullness of the sound itself. However, you can make it sound better when you tweak the settings through the Soundcore app. The app also lets you play around with the noise cancelling, which was surprisingly good and honestly on par with much more expensive options. I would say this would be a GREAT gift for high school/college-level students and even for those who just want something affordable with ANC. I tried them on a 3-hour domestic flight and it did a phenomenal job of drowning out the standard cabin noises, including a crying toddler! I never got to test out the full capacity of the battery but this thing is rated for 40 hours with the ANC on and 55 hours with the ANC turned off, which is entirely very impressive.

I wouldn’t recommend these for those who want to use these primarily for phone and conference calls as the microphone isn’t particularly great. I don’t know if it’s the noise reducing microphones or what but the people I spoke with mentioned that I didn’t sound all that clear, if anything a little “distant” from the mic itself. Overall, though, a great budget option for people seeking a reasonably-priced, ANC-compatible b/t headset.

Looks: These headphones are sleek black but matte; it looks good like this. The earcups are huge with the typical cushion for your ears. There is a huge “L” and “R” inside the earcups so you can’t mess up how you put these on your head! There is also cushion along the band that goes over your head. The cushion stops where the headphones can extend. The cushion on the earcups and around the headband part seem/look cheap compared to some others but it feels nice nonetheless. Like typical, the outer part of the earcup has basic functions. Your functions are based on pressing buttons once, twice or three times, as well as holding down buttons. Doing those things allow for multiple functions for the same button. Power button (hold it down for off/on), when turning it on also tells you the battery level. There is NO Bluetooth button, which is a nice change, because whatever device you are connecting to does the work. Just find it (Soundcore) on your device on the bluetooth settings and hit/tap it and it connects easy peasy. Also, on the outer ear cup is a port for USB-C charging and a port for… wait for it… an aux cable, should you need it or want it. It is not typical to find that option anymore so it’s nice to have i guess. The USB-C port allows you to connect the charging cable that comes with it. It’s short. Typical. It also comes with an aux cable.

The headphones seem comfy but I can tell after some time, my head will need a break. This is not unique to these headphones. It happens with some headphones for me (not all, but some). Note: I can tell by how it feels as soon as I put it on my head/ears.

Function: So, you could surely just use the headphones as is, but as it is with every single Bluetooth speaker these days (and many other things), you definitely want to download the Soundcore app so you can take advantage of many many more functions. It is an easy download and sets itself up fairly quickly. Under “My Devices,” click on these headphones to get into some functions. You can set levels to noise cancellation. You can just put it on normal (which means NO noise cancellation; and less good sound). You can put it on transparency for if you want to hear voices better. You can go into the sound and use one of many presets for how you want your sound. I changed mine to Bass (it’s something-Bass, I can’t remember the first word). I like plenty of bass with my music. I checked out all the presets. The Hip Hop preset doesn’t make sense. There should always be more base with Hip Hop. But then it gave more bass to R&B. Hmmm… I know who is not making those settings. But that’s cool because, you can also make your own EQ settings and even save the settings. I tried this but didn’t notice any differences. I probably didn’t do something right. Those are the most important functions. There are other things in the app, including updating the firmware of the headphones, which it did upon first time use.

Actual sound: I am quite impressed with the sound it put out. It gave pretty good bass and pretty good clarity. I noticed a difference between the sound it gave off when playing music from my phone and the sound it gave off when playing YouTube videos. Music on my phone played well. Music on YouTube was good, but it seems to give off way more highs, making it sound unbalanced. It’s decent though.

Overall, these headphones are very easy to work with and sound impressively good. Also, you can stay connected to more than one device at a time (I believe it’s 2). So I was curious and connected to my laptop and played YouTube vids. While listening, I turned the Bluetooth on on my phone (I generally keep it off) and just hit the Soundcore. My YouTube stayed playing. I paused the YouTube and hit play on the song on my phone and it played. While it was playing, I was more curious, and hit play on the YouTube vid. The sound didn’t come through because I was still listening to the song on my phone. I expected that to happen, but I wanted to see (hear). Everything is all good with these headphones. I would recommend these headphones. Oh, it also comes with a little baggie to put the headphones in.

    Peace.

So I had these headphones for a little under 2 months I used them everyday. The sound quality was great for the price, battery life was good and never had problems connecting to my other devices. But about a week ago the left side begin to make a static noise really often. I had to stop using it cause it was overtaking the enjoyment of listening to music. Not sure if this was a faulty product or cause by user error I don’t think it would be I never dropped or wet the headphones so yeah that sucks. If not for that I would give the headphones a high review but since they stopped working properly seemingly at random I have to rate it low

  5. TechGuru1701

I’ve come to expect more from Soundcore – these are kind of crappy.

  6. Will

Delving into the Soundcore line, known under Anker’s audio repertoire, attracted me due to its appealing design and my positive experiences with Anker in the past. The price-to-features ratio astounds; although it doesn’t match pricier headphones in performance, it offers an impressive array of capabilities within its budget.

Comfort-wise, it’s predominantly plastic, feeling sturdy yet lightweight. The adjustable headband caters from small to large heads, maintaining a secure fit. However, the lightweight clamping force results in easy displacement during workouts or vigorous movement, requiring frequent readjustment. The earpads are decently soft, offering comfort for extended wear, though definitely not the best.

Sound quality is satisfactory but lacks the richness and depth of higher-end counterparts. Nevertheless, the Soundcore app allows sound customization, enhancing the listening experience. It’s ideal for casual listening, though critical audiophiles might seek more.

Features-wise, these headphones pack a surprising punch for the price. The wear detection works relatively well, exhibiting a slight delay in play/pause. Noise cancelling, though moderate, reduces lower-end sounds and alters the pitch of higher pitches. The transparency mode allows sufficient ambient noise, resembling Apple’s feature but not at the same level.

The Soundcore app enriches the experience with various EQ settings, though personal sound enhancement (“heardID”) didn’t impress. A multitude of features like “Easy Chat,” “Safe Volume,” dual connections, and more make these headphones versatile and commendable.

Controls are situated on the earcups, offering functionality for power, noise cancelling, and play/pause. However, some functions like skip forward/backward and play/pause are occasionally finicky or delayed, detracting slightly from the user experience

In conclusion, these headphones perform admirably within their price range, potentially impressing users who might perceive them as pricier models. Yet, a discerning ear will uncover nuances against pricier competitors. For those seeking solid performance without breaking the bank, these headphones tick many boxes but fall short of premium standards.

  7. WilliamT

Great value. Very comfortable, sound excellent & the NR feature works great

  8. AhmadS

These are my favorite headphones, its sound quality is really clear, And the noise cancellation is excellent. I recommend you to buy these headphones

  9. Sameerak

A gift for my brother .. he loves it.. excellent one

  10. Andy

Excellent noise canceling headphones. Great blue tooth connection. I am enjoying these and would recommend buying them if you’re in the market.

  11. MIXMASTERICE

These won’t blow you away with their sound quality, but for the retail price they are an excellent option for ANC wireless headphones for everyday use for those people who don’t feel like spending several hundred dollars on ANC headphones.

The overall sound quality is fairly balanced, but these don’t get extremely loud. You may find that you have the volume turned up higher than other similar headphones you have used in the past. This is kind of par for the course for Soundcore wireless headphones. The bass capability on these is decent, but they won’t be the headphones to pick if you really want bumping bass.

The ANC on these headphones is above average in this price range. It won’t completely block out the outside noise, but it does a good job of lessening the world around you to a certain degree. These also have an ambient mode that allows you to hear the world around you, which I find I use as much or more than the ANC. The sound quality doesn’t change much when the ANC is turned on, which seems to be an issue with some of the lesser priced ANC headphones. These are also co.parible with the Soundcore app.

  12. user225620

For the price point this is an OK headphone. I have tried over the ear headphones that have way better active noise canceling then the sound core, however, sound quality is great for a $99 headphone

  13. CherylW

Our son requested these as a birthday present. They came just in time for his vacation. He loved using them on the airplane as it cancelled all the airplane noise i.e. baby crying, airplane motor noise, etc. He says they are comfortable to wear and he uses them daily to help him block out noise while he is working.

  14. bluecrater

This was purchased for my boyfriend that I recently moved in with, my pet parakeet causes a lot of noise and hes used to silence, so these were purchased to remedy that issue. They do their job well

  15. Jrod0066

These are the best headphones you can on the market for this price. Very happy I made this purchase

  16. Helio

Great noise cancelling although the headphones themselves are pretty large and you might feel a bit goofy wearing them in public. All else is fine.

  17. HamidH

I liked it good sound quality and microphone working good

  18. Barrie

Great Headphones for a reasonable price. I found the set up easy and the sound quality excellent.
Noise cancelling is very effective and completely blocks tv noise from interfering with what I am listening to.
Have not tried them on the airplane yet but I am confident that they will perform well.

  19. Issa

Good sound not the best but it’s pretty decent, hurts piercings tho

  20. TylerI

I ordered to pick them up from the store and when I got there the item was ready and the process was super fast! The quality of the headphones is great and I love how they sound.

  21. EstherG

I got these for my daughter for Christmas based on a recommendation from Wirecutter. She has been using them a lot and is very happy with them. Would definitely recommend.

  22. MatanA

Great product! For this price, you probably wouldn’t find headphones with this great sound quality. The noise cancellation function works like a charm.
Honestly, if you’re looking for great headphones at affordable price – they’re the ones!

  23. MelissaB

Love my headphones! So does my family, watch movies on my phone at night and It don’t affect others watching tv

  24. Teetee

Works great and my daughter cannot even hear me when I call her, which to me is a bad thing but for her the noise cancelation works lol

  25. TeronT

I like my headphone it can routes and its clear in sound and its good for traveling

  26. KMoneyBags

My 11yr old son got these for Christmas. I must say, he absolutely loves them. Sound quality is great and the ANC is awesome. The battery life is outstanding.

  27. Pedro

Best Value for price. Good Noise Cancelling and bass

  28. user781744

These headphones were a Christmas present, but the recipient has no complaints and loves being able to sit at a sporting event and still listen to a broadcast in the headphones! The features on this are really neat and will come in handy!

  29. DavidW

Very good headphones, especially for price. The sole negative is if you are wearing these on a plane for extended period of time they could start to bother your ears, physically.

  30. LouSr

This Soundcore headset is excellent in that it can sync with 2 devices, has excellent sound & battery life and is comfortable to wear. It resolves my hearing issues and the noise cancelling feature is a plus. I dont use it for phone calls, but it would certainly be a plus if I did.

  31. RogerB

I was looking for reasonably priced and reasonably sized earphones for use in the gym but also walking around New York City. For outside, I wanted noise cancellation to cover traffic noise. Over-the-ear headphones are too large and cumbersome. These headphones meet my criteria. They are not perfect: the noise cancellation is good but can’t handle very low-pitched noise, like big diesel-engine trucks; because they do not seal over the ear, when it is windy out the wind enters and is amplified. However, the sound quality is good, the noise-cancellation is adequate for most purposes and the on-the-ear design makes them small and lightweight. They do not put pressure on my ears. For the price I paid, they are an excellent compromise.

  32. GrahamG

My wife absolutely loves these as they are comfortable. They fit over her ears and the noise reduction was great on a recent flight. Absolutely no problems whatsoever and they didn’t cost us four hundred dollars

  33. Casey

Better than the Soundcore Q35’s that I replaced but not as well built as the Q45. If I didn’t need a replacement same-day I would have ordered the Q45 online rather than pick these up in-store.

  34. DakodaN

They sound a lot better than you would expect, especially when compared to the competition. Would definitely buy again if they broke. Bassy enough if you love bass forward sound but can’t afford $400 headphones.

  35. PosterBoy

Amazing. I bought these and Beats Pro at the same time being they were both on sale. Soundcores were $99 and Beats were $149. I’ve compared them and I have to say I lean more to the soundcore. Great bang for your buck.

  36. Gamer2013

Sound great. Fit well and comfy. Battery lofe is great. Had tried other brands but returned due to lack of comfort

  37. FonzoL

Pretty solid for the amount paid, happy with the purchase.

  38. Charge

Love these headphones. They do a lot and work great for the price. My favorite features are the adjustable levels for noise cancelling and that they can connect to both my phone and laptop so I can go between the two almost seamlessly. They definitely rival other more expensive brands such as Beats, Sony, and Bose.

  39. Kris01

Rivals air pod max but on value. Just wished best buy had other colors available.

  40. user218640

Very nice sound and quality they were a gift for my father and he loves them!

  41. DominickR

The sound quality is amazing it is very loud while also protecting your hearing and they are very comfortable to wear I almost forgot I had them on

  42. user764646

I bought these for my husband. We live in a one bedroom condo with a small study. He often works from home and these headphones are perfect for shutting out noise from the kitchen/living room area. Sound is great. Easy to understand directions and reasonably priced!

  43. JackieV

Awesome sound quality. Perfect fit. Ease to hook up and charge.

  44. MichaelP

Best head phones i ever bought, bass sounds great
    And the comfort is amazing.

  45. KJUno

Sounds like trash. Returned after 6 days. Should have got the note expensive Sony ones.

  46. DeeP

Great sound! Wears nicely and very comfortable. Noise cancelling is excellent l.

  47. GregoryC

Use these in an open office for video calls – they’re great.

  48. Bestbuy2020

Amazing headphones for the money comfortable and good sound and features

  49. ltedeschi

I have the q30 and expected this one to be way better. It is about the same with an upgrade in terms of sensor that stops music when you remove it and a downgrade to change between the modes that now is a button

  50. sandy

These are awesome headphones my son loves them I definitely recommend them to anyone
