MojeedO –
The sound is perfect , it gives a cinema and party vibes. Recommend for every home.
Jag21 –
Theh sounded great when they would connect. I found myself need to constantly reconnect them and link them.
EricPease –
HT-A9 speakers are just really terrible. The constant drop outs just make listening to any movie, music or tv show an utterly painful experience. I just feel like I’ve been cheated by Sony. There’s no way these speakers should ever have been brought to market. Especially at this price point.
Google HT-A9 dropouts.
I’ve made sure I had the most uptodate firmware. I’ve done a factory reset on the system. I’ve tried the optimization which will work for a few minutes and then the dropouts return.
Nothing seems to work. Terribly frustrating. Do not even consider buying these speakers. Utter waste of time and money.
Cochise –
I have had these speakers now 6 months. They are fantastic. It’s like being in a theater, The surround sound is excellent. I’ll tell you how good they are, I heard a dog barking and I thought my neighbor’s dog had got out again. I even went to my door and looked, wasn’t there. Came back found out it was on TV. Easy set up.
WilliamH –
Not ready to give you my assessment I will after geek squad comes out
Tayy –
Sound was not great as all the reviews say. The center phantom channel did not work too well for me. It felt like the speakers were trying too hard. I went with the HT-A7000 with surrounds for my home.
Rjim –
Great quality sound system wish it came in black though
Morpheus –
I think that this speaker system when working well is magic. The sounds of individual raindrops can be heard in a storm. It is however still prone to drop outs between the front 2 speakers. And quite a few sometimes.
CRASSFIRE –
The product works like it should, set up was pretty easy to follow as well, and the 360 reality audio sounds amazing for it’s demo is great
GL1013 –
The Sony HT-A9 7.1 Channel Home Theater System is an absolute powerhouse that delivers an unparalleled audio experience, taking your home entertainment to new heights. From its sleek design to its cutting-edge technology, this system is a true testament to Sony’s commitment to creating premium audio products.
I highly recommend this product!
CoryW –
This system sounds amazing and the set up was a piece of cake. It may not be “top of the line” for some of you audiophiles, but for the average home user who just wants there movies to sound great it is perfect. AND WIRELESS! I’ve been wanting wireless surround for a long time. Bought the 200w sub from Sony and couldn’t be happier.
Manthilak –
Sounds are crystal clear.. You can feel real dolby atmos output if you are are watching real 4k movies with good sound output.. the installation is pretty simple and easy to follow.
This is perfectly works and sounds great for my den area.
ChrisA –
Excellent sound sounds like you’re in the movie theater but I do get occasional dropouts. highly recommend
FreddieM –
Absolutely love, these very immersive speakers. And awesome theater effect that keeps you in the action.
John –
As far as price without incredibly expensive subwoofer. The sound is fantastic and yes I would buy again. Sound placement does matter but only if really, really need perfect Sound.
MadisonHall –
When it works: Phenomenal
Otherwise, mildly annoying at times.
PS5 owners, after no help, here’s what to do:
Ps5 audio settings at 7.1, AV Receiver, and if you do DTS, or DOLBY you must go into Ht-a9 menu and adjust to the same, otherwise no luck.
Sound drops not too often, but common enough to be annoying.
Outside of all that for a several thousand, when it works, you hear every dime. It’s truly amazing. But the negatives, for a premium product, hurt the experience.
MattMcQueen –
I absolutely WOULD NOT purchase this again. It never wants to connect, only works 50% of the time, and is a complete waste of the “wireless” feature because all speakers have to be plugged in. I absolutely do not think something such as this should be nearly as complicated as it is as my TV is optimized for such speakers. Geek squad came to put it all in the right a spot and ended up not hanging any of them up, moving my speakers to WORSE places, and did nothing except waste time. 1/10 experience. Returning tomorrow.
DanN –
Sound is impressive for just 4 speakers. Having intermittent drops with is annoying. If not for this would be almost perfect, but will be planning to return.
LovebutLive –
The sound is above and beyond that from a soundbar. I have used upper end soundbars and the HT-A9 has a much fuller sound in comparison. If you have a larger TV 75″-85″ dont hesitate to buy the HT-A9. Be sure to get one of the available subs to fill in the lows and you will be set.
Staller519 –
So I’ve read a lot about people complaining that the speakers drop out. So far it hasn’t happened to me once. I have a feeling it may be a distance issue or maybe your wifi? I don’t know but I have to say that when you first turn you speakers on and run the wizard — OMG. It plays a 360 degree demo and it blows you away. No way you can get this without the SW5 sub. It’s a must. There’s an Sw3 that’s cheaper but it’s not good. I watched A Quiet Place 2 last night and Jeez– I heard things clearly I have never heard before in the movie. This is fantasic.
SuperT –
Best surround sound ever!!! No wires, sounds great!!!
Solid –
Good for any space. I paired this with the larger sub and it sounds amazing. Sometimes sounds sound so realistic i have to check outside.
Eddie –
Awesome system, love that I can place these anywhere and it will no degrade the quality. Phenomenal with Dolby Atmos
Frank –
They work, I’m keeping them we live in a condo. Pretty cool
PatrickShortbus –
Better than my traditional 7.2 system ever did but without the cables and hassles, and big boxes that cost so much more. I feel I am done with home theater systems; I doesn’t get better than what we have. It isn’t just a good value but a great system.
BlakeB –
Sound amazing! Work great. As long as the box has some line of sight I haven’t had any disconnections
Shylock254 –
So i know the a9 is great but i went for an open box since it was ridiculously cheap. I was disappointed from the packaging itself. The speaker wire mesh were bent inwards. I understand it was open box but for $1600 that was not worth it. After connecting them the rear speakers were too quiet for me even on Max.
Anthony –
I own dozens of speakers which includes two full atmos setups with real height speakers, and I consider myself to be an amateur Audiophile. While the Sont HT A9 is far from the best audio product I own, it is the most fun. So easy to setup and use! I had both the SW5 and SW3 and kept the SW3. I find it offers plenty of bass for my needs, and honestly, the SW5 is waaay overpriced compared to its performance. Without a subwoofer, the A9 can’t hang in the bass department. Overall, really good quality and sound, no regrets!
JosephineW –
This thing rocks, is it as loud as a namikacki no, but when you have a huge high ceiling room where TV is above mantle and sound bar sit to high to be effective doesnt matter. The imersive sound is so good it fill room and makes it sound like you are in the inviroment for whatever you are watching. Side note also get the sub it makes a huge difference we went with rhe 300w version and it absolutly makes our room a movie theater
BillyBudapest –
Hard to beat for what it is since there’s nothing else like it. Great support for lossless audio formats except DVD-Audio.
Solomon –
I purchased the HT-A9 because I couldn’t fit a the Sonos Arc on my stand with the UST I’m using. I had been intrigued by it since it was announced and it completely met my expectations. When watching movies, the sound stage envelopes you in a way no other soundbar could. Its different and I love it.
Shylock254 –
Cinematic sounds while watching movies dolby atmos at its best
David –
Sound is very good, almost as good as my full home theater setup. Very quick and simple setup, maybe its best feature. There is good enough bass for music without adding a subwoofer but for movies i think it needs it. The only sound adjustments are rear sound level and bass. I like to play around with the sound so this is a con for me but to be honest i haven’t felt the need to make any adjustments. I do miss having mutiple hdmi inputs like my receiver, it only has one.
Rnketa –
First when I setup i was really excited to hear sound after I setup first i feel there no difference then my old sony sound bar i was sad later i try change settings and i use hdmi cable what i got in the box after that everything change whatever i play on tv it sounds awesome now my living room sounds like movie theater thank you sony u guys need to guide people to setup so they will never return this product
supersyked –
Fantastic sound, nice look. I fortunately got a great deal due to Best Buys open box offer. Unfortunately the “excellent” condition i purchased was in very poor conditon. Dents everywhere, marks and dirt, so I had to return it.
Otherwise I would still own it. I will be buyin a new one soon.
HMehdi –
I purchased this system over the back Friday. This system is amazing. It is super easy to set up and It beats any sound bar. That being said, you have to get the Sony SW5 sub to get the best sound. If your living room has a high ceiling then the Sony sound bar HT 7000 sound bar with the same sub and rear wireless speakers would be the best choice.
Poague –
Excellent. Get the model 5 subwoofer…………………………….//
JohnC –
Amazing sound when it works. But since this system requires “line of sight” and not wifi, this create a huge issue for the system working correctly. The speakers would cut in and out with no sound in the gaps. I spent 10 minutes to one hour every single day to re-calibrate and get the speaking working correctly. Then after waiting for an appointment to get a Geek Squad person to look at it, it was recommended to take it back and get a Sonos, which is exactly what I did.
ElliottM –
This item did not function in my home. The sound kept dropping between the speakers consistently. The HTA9 is too unreliable and cannot be used in all homes. Combined with short cables (4.7 feet), I cannot recommend this. A soundbar is a better alternative for wireless. I am returning this item within less than 24 hours of using it.
Collin –
Speakers sounded great even when placed in a sub-optimal position. Getting a complimentary subwoofer is higly recommended and was a noticeable improvement to my experience. Did not have many interference issues despite speakers being placed next to the wifi router in my house. Setup took 10ish minutes, 15 tops. The ‘virtual center channel’ does run into some weirdness when speakers are placed in weird spots however. My physical 5.2 systems sounds about as good but takes much longer to set up and takes up much more space than the HTA9. Open box purchase with no missing parts and minor cosmetic damage made this a much better value at $1250 for the HTA9 and SW5 subwoofer.
A7000 –
I have this in my bedroom and love it. The bubble as they say is incredible. The idea of a soundbar like system but broken into 4 speakers was really intuitive. If I could change 2 things, it would be to make a proper center channel(not with my Sony tv) and to make a next gen with bigger 3.5-4” drivers and either allow a sub out as an option or allow us to buy a 2nd Sw5 sub. Dropouts haven’t happened to me and that’s the only problem this had earlier, so I hope that’s done. Overall it’s the best soundbar like system under $3,000, which I got with the sub for $1899. Really better than I expected as I have a home theater and this is closer to that than I expected. Great Product!
RichardR –
It sounds amazing, I made sure that it has the most recent firmware update and they are connected to a secondary (guest) network. I also made sure that the module (black control box) is in sight to all the speakers and I have not had any drop off issues.
Rgoo7anu –
I’ve had a 7.1.4 all Klipsh. I even had the four Dolby Atmos speakers pointing down from the ceiling. This Sony HT-A9 when MANUALLY SET TO HIGH, is the best Dolby Atmos I’ve ever heard. Remember, you have to set it to high!!!
ReidC –
We added the HT-A9 surround sound and included a subwoofer. Incredible cinamatic experience that also has a bluetooth interface to stream music from your phone, computer or internet.
Mike –
These surround speakers sound excellent! Paired a Sony SA-SW5 300 watt sub with them. Connected to a Sony 65” A95L TV, which uses the TV speaker as the center channel. Sound great! I used the Sanus speaker wall mounts – worked great! Entire system is awesome!
ColbyM –
I am very happy to ditch speaker wires and use this as my sound system.
Nilay –
Amazing Surround sound along with great virtual center channel
Jesse –
The sounds is amazing. Setup can be a little tricky but very easy. Just make sure you have clear line of sight between all of the speakers. The do discount and reconnect but this can be fixed with a reset. They sound amazing when they work. The biggest issue is that for this price they shouldn’t have as many issues as they do. Same goes for the A80L we purchased. Constantly locks up. No matter how many resets we still need to hard reboot at least once a week.
Uriel –
I recently watched Gran Turismo and wow you can hear it all. From great dialogue to the gravel getting lifted from the tires. Must hear for yourself. I also recommend the bigger sub to go with it SW5.
Kevinthetechguy –
First let me start by saying I’ve tried everything from Samsung to Sonos, etc… and I will say this system is easily the best. The soundstage and atmos effects are unmatched. Of course, I strongly suggest getting the SW5 subwoofer with it to give you that theater like sound. The speakers can be placed almost anywhere and still sound great. The room filling sound and clarity are just something you have to experience to believe. Don’t be fooled by any criticism about a center channel, the phantom center sounds perfectly fine. If you are looking for an easy setup that can be placed virtually anywhere and also want the best atmos theater like sound, get this system and don’t look back. I hope this helps potential buyers. Great work Sony
