Excellent surround system when paired with optional subwoofer and rear speakers. I didn’t spend any time with it testing its sound without the extra units so my review is based on the entire package.
I paired this bar with the SW5 subwoofer and RS5 rear speakers. The Dolby Atmos sphere sounds amazing and this system puts out plenty of bass. It won’t hit super low frequencies with much accuracy but that’s not its intended design.
The highlights are eARC capability and the ability to tie into current Sony TVs so that the TV acts as the center channel. Also it has two HDMI inputs for your extra electronics and also will stream music from your phone or tablet.

This sound bar i bought on recommendation with my new OLED.
I have high ceilings and it does ok. Actually i should preface to say i actually was delivered an HT-A5000 by mistake and used that for a few days before getting a swap for the HT-A7000.
I really studied the reviews on the Sony sound bars. They were very accurate reviews, the 7000 has a more clear sound image were as the 5000 is bass heavy. In hindsight If doing this over I would have held onto the 5000. For action tracks it was boomier and i like that in a movie. But for music, the 7000 is amazing. Perhaps if Sony reads these reviews they could give us better control of midrange and bass via a software update?
Having said all that, if i did the purchase over i would probably have stuck with the LG SJ9 that this replaced. It still is better sounding to the type of content i watch most frequently.
I am not bad mouthing the 7000 at all, it performs… I just have to use considerably more volume level to match what i already had in place. I also liked visual reference that i was on Atmos, that is petty i understand, but it’s also pretty basic to hit a button to see what the speaker is decoding/outputting, and the Sony seems to lack geek features that I admit the average person probably doesn’t care about.

I got the sound bar home and hooked it up and dialed it all in. I think maybe i got a bad port on the sound bar? Two reps at best buy said the same thing and that it should have been enough. I had the sound maxed out and it still wasn’t enough. I just bought a brand new Sony TV and the rep’s said it could be bad port on the sound bar or the port on the TV. I hooked my PS5 on the TV picked up on it right away. Thank god. The TV would tell me that there wasn’t a HDMI connected to a sound bar. So i returned the sound bar and with another popular sound bar and it sounds amazing!

Depending on your room the HTA5000 maybe a better fit. Otherwise it’s a great sound bar especially when paired with a Bravia TV that can enhance as a center channel. For subs the sw 3 is more than enough tbh. Be sure to verify bundles when purchasing. Sound overall is good and it can enhance voice specifically for those movies that have a lot of dialogue and it seems as if the sound people were on break.

This Sony soundbar has a superb sound dispersion that produces a home theater atmosphere in a compact package.
It also added 2 HDMI 2.1 to my input choices, so I Used one for my Apple TV+ 4K and one for my Panasonic UB820 Blu-Ray player.
The picture on my Sony XR77A80J oled was elevated to a life like picture with beautiful deep contrast and vivid colors.
Installation was easy and calibrating the soundfield and room acoustics was easily performed by the Sony soundbar.
My first experience was a clip from the Spiderman movie and it blew me away. I am smiling and feeling amazed at how well it performed.
This is a great addition for anyones home theater.

I purchased an open box one and the unit apparently had defective LED front panel – that thing was very temperamental sometimes it’s lit up but then after 15mins or so it’d froze (the front display) and would just completely disappear after power recycle. I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of dealing with warranty so I just returned it to BestBuy. But my review here is for the sound – because the sound works just fine despite the front display glitch. I find the dialogue in movies to be slightly under powered- it’s a little hard to make out the dialogue compared to a Bose soundbar. The Sony 360 music is so great but that format is not common. The midrange on the Sony is more expansive than the Bose. Unfortunately the dialogue mode in Sony is not as good as the one in Bose hence I went with Bose. It’s too bad since I have Sony TV (though one that doesn’t have S-Center support). Perhaps if paired with a higher end Sony TV with S-Center support the end result for dialogue clarity will be different?

Alas, the “Geek Squad” did not install the Sony Soundbar correctly.

I am very disappointed with this purchase. When I ordered this open box Sony Soundbar for over $800 it was listed as in excellent condition like new. When I received the package the entire side of the box was missing covered only with clear packing tape the item was crushed. I think it would have been nice to have offered a new soundbar for the open box price

I purchased this sound bar to complement my sony tv XR X93L. First impression after we connected with the TV and calibrate sound to fit the room was: “man!! it sounds worse than the TV speakers”. I honesty feel this sound bar doesn’t have the premium quality. I ended up using my old sound bar Sony HT-NT3 which give better sound than HT-A7000

Like the title says, it sounds great but just falls short build-wise. Sony is usually known for great build quality, which makes this sting more. Anytime the power would go out, I’d have to fight with it to pair with the TV again (Sony TV paired with it), which gets old after a few storms. And about a year and a half after ownership, it gave out altogether. I had wished for more from it, but unfortunately, I can’t recommend it.
