Nate –
I’ve had to return this lens twice for repairs/cleaning. When I zoom in on something there is an artifact on the edge of my pictures. After the cleaning/repair it looks good for a few months but the artifact keeps returning. I’ll be returning it to the store this week for a refund or replacement. I could understand if I clanged the lens often, but I rarely use another lens and when I switch out, I try and do it in as clean an environment as possible. I generally like the lens other than that.

Good in low light. Easy to carry, the auto focus is also faster.
Tractorman1 –
Used the camera in yellowstone, glacier park, Mount Rushmore and crazy horse memorial. Camera allowed great shots of scenery and allowed quick shots of lots of wildlife.
Momma –
Very easy to use and assemble on to camera. Great action shots too
BMunster –
Don’t wanna change lenses in the field?
This is for you. Great quality. Lots of bang for the buck.
Aimee77 –
A must have in my opinion. Saves me from having to switch lenses all the time. I’ve used for single photo shoots and weddings. Love it
Ross –
Return to lack of sharpness on A7RIII and A9 cameras.
CameraGal –
I purchased this as a ‘one size fits all’ zoom lens for my Sony Alpha because using multiple lenses on the camera was causing extreme sensor dust.
Having the one lens on the camera fills most of my non-studio needs, making this lens combined with the camera a perfect travel kit.
I’m not sure I like the artifcacts/bokeh when it is zoomed at full the full 240mm – but the trade-off makes it worth putting up with.
The Lens seems sharp – but does have a bit of vignetting at both extremes.
Over-all I am happy with it and look forward travel with my new lens/camera combo.
Diana –
I haven’t had this for very long but this seems like a perfect all around lens to bring wherever you go.
Jason –
I absolutely love this lens. Its my first go to for 90% of my jobs
NewPhotoGuy –
This lens is great covering a span of distance. I use it for portraiture and landscapes.
Diana –
Did not know so much about cameras or even that a lens comes separately so the team members there were extremely helpful and now I use my camera as much as I can and this lens is amazing. Can’t wait to but a smaller one for other pictures.
HomebrewerNJ –
Great range and size for a single travel lens. I use it on all of my trips.
clammy –
It’s a good lens for travel or family events if you don’t want to constantly switch out lenses. There are higher quality lenses for a lot more money, but this lens will still get detailed shots.
Pilotgirl –
This lens is sharp all the way through. Great lens to have in your bag of tricks. Ideal for travel or when on the run and can’t carry a lot of gear with you.
felito –
Kind of high price and heavy but does its job well.
Trish –
Ria is a great distance lense. I wamt to save for a longer distance one.

Had I taken another week to really dig into my needs, I may have gone with a slightly different lens for my first upgrade. I really wanted a telephoto for sports and candids, but the 3.5-6.3 range is not great for portraits, more journalistic looking. It is still a great all-around lens, and it takes clear and sharp pictures. You get a little bend on the edges when zoomed in tight, but it’s okay
ArcAngel304 –
Great lens and upgrade from the kit lens for the Sony A7ii. The price was great also.
Nemo –
Great len, this telephoto len is almost all in one to go, offer great quality pictures. Very minimal blur and good bokeh. Not the top of the line len but offer a pro quality. For beginner or hobby, this is a to go lens. Good build quality and reasonable price.
Great –
Wonderful product… & ease of use. Would definitely recommend

You think you’re spending a lot of money on this basic Sony lens, only to discover that it’s at the bottom of their lens lineup. However, if you’re a hobbyist, this is a great lens. It’s not a “fast” lens, so you’ll need plenty of light. I found that it took great pictures and gave me plenty of flexibility in the RAW formant to tweak in Lightroom.
It’s heavy, so adjust your expectation accordingly. Yet, I really think this lens is perfect for travel or the times when you can only take one lens.
KeithT –
Great lens. Use it for video recording on the A7III and it’s awesome. Good quality picture.
DaBoz –
Great lens. Works on both my Sony A7Riii and Sony A3000. It is heavy though. Pictures look great. It does not work well for macro shots.
wilkie –
The lens minimizes the number of lens changes because of its great range. It is my go to lens.
wallyphotography –
decent lens, about what you would expect. Nothing to complain about, nothing to write home about.
DNY062 –
The lens was great! But then when I started shooting out in the field, I did not find myself reaching for this lens at all. I do life style and portrait photography.
Anv10 –
Took amazing milky way photos with this lense. Love wide angle and low Fstop
yes1 –
Not great for sports as it does not hold focus when zooming, and the AF is sometimes slow. A bit overpriced but would be good for something other that sports videography.
JimR –
Some people (pixel peepers) hate on this lens. I love it for what it is. A great walk-around lens for my full-frame Sony A7. Great zoom range but that comes with trade-offs. Lower light gathering ability and some issues in the corners. However, lens correction on Lightroom does a great job. I like it for my current lifestyle which is traveling around the country in my RV. Not a pro lens (I have a couple of those) but a great lens for what it’s designed to be.
FUMCOFFICE –
Just exactly what I need for the distance I am located at a church balcony. It is durable. Heavy but manageable.
Dakotalock –
Took this to Alaska on a cruise – even though the weather was not cooperative – it took great shots.
Jamescaan –
Unbelievable quality and takes great pictures. Worth the money for sure.
rebecca –
awesome lens
made with quality materials and great price
Longtimeshopper –
Be advised not compatible with other lenses, otherwise good camera
Proudson –
Sharp clean image if you know what you are doing it worth the price

Wasn’t expecting National Geo quality out of this but was satisfied with the results. Ended up returning though and bought the Tamron 28-200 and still saved $300 with the restock fee. Same performance and it’s a brighter lens. I’m sure every once in a while I’ll miss the increased telephoto range but with a full frame camera, at least I can always crop on the high end without too much loss of quality. If the Sony was $300 less, I’d give it 4 stars.
Thadog73 –
Really great lens I hope it lasts a while. Pretty expensive but worth it
Awesome –
Beautiful lens takes a time to learn to use but beautiful shots
TorresFineArt –
One of the most versatile lens I have used with good quality.
Nodakmedia –
Works perfect, shipped on time and was very easy to pick up
Garell –
Awesome lens. Takes photography to a whole other level.
tikzman –
It’s my first lens and first camera. Not sure I can give a professional opinion but overall it has fair reach at 240.
M8789 –
Overall, the lens is pretty good. I do have some trouble getting what I want in focus sometimes but overall, the quality seems than enough to get great prints. I haven’t seen really any CA in the photos I’ve done thus far. This is a good alternative for those wanting to do landscape to portrait/street photography that don’t feel comfortable spending a few hundred extra on a G Master.
RobertM –
Wonderful deal on a great “everyday/walk around” lens
MXAnywhere3 –
Great lens overall. Occasionally the auto focus acts up and doesn’t allow me to take photos. Switching to manual focus no problem
JacobM –
This is a great entry-ish level telephoto lens. It’s very versatile because it’s able to go from 24mm all the way to 240mm. The aperture will change when you zoom, so it does require you to pay attention to you camera settings. Overall, a great telephoto lens for a full size sensor camera
Jahsavi –
We took this to Disney and I was very impressed with the images. Was able to get wide shots and zoom into characters faces during the parades. Overall very pleased with the lens.
SageCPhoto –
This lens has a large range and very little distortion.
RobertK –
I bought this item as a gift and he wa very happy with it
