Checkman –
I recently purchased a Sony A7r IV and wanted to get a good general purpose lens for everyday use. My experience with Zeiss lenses in the past has been very favorable, so I went with this 24-70mm zoom.
It is well-made with a solid feel to it. The zoom ring and focusing ring both move very smoothly. It is not overly heavy and works very well with the autofocus feature of the camera.
The other nice feature is that the price of this lens is below the comparable Sony zoom.
Dengo –
It’s a very sharp lens. The automatic focus is sweet.
Vincentle –
This len is on my camera 90% of the time . Fast focus. Wide enough for landscaping. I use this for night sky photos too.
GiftGiver –
Also own the more expensive faster G lens of same range.
This lens is significantly lighter and does almost as well.
Very happy with the purchase

This lens is affordable compared to the 2.8 lens. I was using the kit lens and needed to upgrade. The sharpness and depth in photos when I use this compared to my old lens is insane. I recommend purchasing Sony products compared to others. I tested two other lenses from non-Sony companies and they were not as sharp.
I recommend this to everyone.
GeauxTigers –
I have always loved the Zeiss lens. They provide nice sharp images.
trey –
Works flawlessly, right doesn’t have any slip or creep of lens
Dre1906 –
Great lens for event photography, I would go with a smaller aperture for portraits (2.8), but in general this is an adequate all around lens for most event/landscape photography.
Jtraveler55 –
The one lens I would attach to my a7iii when I have to travel and have no space for others to stay light.
Taylorjdav –
This lens was recommended to me because its better than the one that comes with the a7ii kit.

Was great definitely happy with this purchase

Samaboy96 –
Fairly decent lens. Can’t complain too much sharpness is good but does have some chroma
Sony –
Great versatile lens. Quick to focus and light enough to use on your camera all day.
Tatsumake –
I bought this lens to lighten up my camera bag, it replaces my 85mm and 35mm. It is a great lens; pictures are sharp and the bokeh is almost as good as the 85mm. It can keep up with the 7r IV with autofocus and eye focus. Overall, this is a great lens.
Snorlax –
Man this N word is expensive I had to eat ramen noodles all week just cuz I couldn’t afford food after this
Mattman –
Literally the best lens I’ve ever owned. Perfect for just about everything. It is my go to lens. I refuse to use the stock lens that came with my A7C and this one is just perfect.
Nicklab –
Great Lens. Quality one would expect from Zeiss. Using in a A7II.
Philly –
One of the best lens that Sony has E mount . Good for land scape shooting.

Purchased as my first e-mount for a Sony A7R-II and it’s taken me a few months before I found a situation that I felt the lens couldn’t handle. It’s extremely versatile! Super-sharp, great feel, and does extremely well on a gimbal. In shooting some music performance videos, it certainly isn’t a silent lens so if you’re shooting a scene on AF-C, you’ll hear a little focus motor. It’s not bad but for critical audio, it’ll come through. However, with AFL/AEL engaged, it makes a fantastic piece of glass to shoot some really great performance videos.
I’ve learned that you can push the lens at F/4 and get some great DOF effects, but (as I’ve learned) more extreme bokeh and shallow DOF shots are likely going to need a lower stop. I’m no real pro, though, so maybe you’ll get even better results than I have – and I’ve been super happy.
Kiismyash2 –
Heavy but it’s because of the quality! This is the only true quality lens I own. All others are made of plastic. The metal makes this feel sophisticated and top quality.
RKline –
Beautiful lens. I bought for cinema purposes as I make short films. It’s spectacular and very sharp and is now my go to for just about anything I do. And if you are just looking for photos it’s beyond amazing for it’s price. A larger aperture is always favored for portraits and that’s where this lens has a downside as it only goes to f/4 though it still presents a good amount of blur and even at f/8 you can get really nice compression when zoomed in. You can’t go wrong with zeiss glass.

Great camera lense. I appreciate the fact that I’m able to keep the camera body brand the same as the lense. Works as it should.

The Sony – 24-70mm f/4 Zoom Lens is a good starting lens for photography. I bought this lens to take pictures because of its zoom capabilities and good picture quality.

Perfect lens to match my a7c! Love the photo quality and zooom!
FRUSTRATED –
Wonderful short zoom lens. I debated this or the 24-105 G lens. They are both excellent. This lens originally retailed for about $1,200…. And it shows. Zeiss T* glass has that certain ‘something’ (similar to Leica, which I also own).. images pop thanks to the microcontrast, colors, and overall rendering. My Sony A1 is a great test too for this lens’ resolving power and I have yet to find any issues there even though this lens was designed back when single digit and low-teen megalixel sensors were state of the art. The 24-105 G is a fantastic lens also; technically it is more sophisticated and more advanced. But this 24-70 Zeiss/Sony is tiny in comparison and looks more like one of my primes. It’s smaller, lighter, practically hides in my backpak and a perfect complement to my 70-300 G lens (a other winner….)

Sony has really set a new precedent with their GM glass and this really showcases it. They’ve somehow figured out how to encapsulate all of the desirable optical qualities you’d get with a very good prime into a zoom. I decided to upgrade after getting frustrated by its slow AF during a recent trip.
