The massager is as straightforward and simple to use as it looks. It’s multiple and varied interchangeable massage heads can handle almost any spot that needed treatment for standard achy muscles. From large muscle mass such as thighs, to smallish areas like your traps, there’s not really a spot that this can’t handle. I especially like the softer tip ball-shaped attachment. This really helps when you might need to get an area of mass that may be close to a boney area. The softer head helps alleviate any hard contact you may accidentally catch with the massager.
The gun is able to concentrate its power very well. Even on the highest setting the massager never felt out of control in my had. The lower you position your grip, the less the vibration you can feel when holding it.
The battery lasts for a good while. I used it for 15-20 minutes every other day and the display still reads more than half battery left with a week and a half of use. I mainly used it on the 4th highest power level, sometimes hitting the next highest setting to work my calf muscles.
A fine device that really has no downside. It’s easy and intuitive to use and provides versatile and consistent massage relief.

Like the title of my Review said. I did not know I needed this product in my life but I am so glad to be using it every week to assist in my overcoming physical pains and aches. For the past year or so I have been working with a chiropractor to help with some major shoulder and lower back pain. Both happen to be on the right side of my body. The Sharper Image Powerboost massager has helped me to be able to loosen muscles and ligaments that have been refusing to release over the last year. My shoulder and neck have started to have a lot more motion and less stiffness since I began my therapy sessions with the deep tissue massager. I also enjoy using this on my calves. I stand a lot at work and this has helped me to be able to relax and stretch my legs after work. Overall this product has been a huge improvement for both focusing on areas that need therapy or I have been working on in therapy and it has improved my general day to day physical wellness I participate in like stretching. I recommend this product. It will help you to find reliefe in ways you did not think it could.

PowerBoost is and understatement! I have been using a compact massager for a few years now and so I was expecting this to be more powerful, but in the upper levels. My compact has only 3 stages, where the PowerBoost has 7 stages. In stage 1 you have to push a little harder or the massager wants to bounce/jump all over. Going up levels keeps it from doing that but if the affected area doesn’t call for that intensity it feels like it is trying to split the muscles in two.
I am glad I have it, but realizing that it will only be needed for the toughest of knots. My current mini will definitely get more use for the mild aches and pains.
The extra attachments are a great benefit and will definitely come in handy for their intended uses.
I don’t much care for the ON/OFF method. The soft touch button is a bit too sensitive sometimes and others not enough. Long press to turn on (visual meter indicates power up cycle). Long press to turn off. However, because it is pretty powerful it is vibrating and sometimes doesn’t respond to the long press. Short presses cycle upwards through the stages and after 7 it shuts off. The power cycle off also mimics going up through the cycles to shut off but does it very quickly. I would prefer it to just have a physical button instead of a soft touch.
Since it is bigger and longer, it is a bit more difficult to use on yourself versus a compact version, so you will definitely need an extra set of hands. Which in either situation will always be better so as not to contort your body into position to reach the affected area.
I can definitely recommend this, but if your not in shape and toned, this will probably be a bit much for minor needs.

I really like this portable, deep tissue massager. The Sharper Image Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager is a great addition to any home gym for portable, easy to use, post workout recovery.
In the box is the massager, 6 different massage attachments, a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, carry case, and instructions. Typically I’m not one for instructions, but I found the attachment guide was perfect for finding the right attachment for every application from shoulders to calves and everything in between. As for the attachments they are: round (low impact), flat (medium impact), fork (high impact), cone (high impact), air compression (low impact) and bar (medium impact). To change the attachment, simply turn and pull, then replace by pressing the attachment into place.
The massager has seven different power levels, to start, press on the red dot on the touch screen which will turn on the power. Then tap the same spot on the screen to increase power starting at level one and going up to level seven. To turn off, either press the power button after level seven, or press and hold. This is relatively intuitive, but takes a few uses to get the hang on the touch interface. As for battery status, the screen shows an outer ring around the level number, this ring is the remaining battery life. I was able to use daily for a full week before needing to recharge. Charging is quick and easy through the USB-C port on the bottom of the massager handle.
Performance wise, it took a few attempts to get used to the right pressure and attachment combo. I do like that when I apply increased pressure the massager automatically increases speed and doesn’t get bogged down or stall. We have found two very different uses for the massager. I use it post workout to relieve stiffness and my husband uses it to help with knots. My husband has had multiple back surgeries with hardware in his lower back, and is always complaining of stiffness or knots forming. At first I was hesitant to use the deep tissue massager for concerns of soreness around the hardware, however he says the massager is perfect, it alleviates pain in areas where he cannot get the muscle to move with stretching or massage rollers.
Overall, the massager feels well crafted and balanced, in addition to being easy to hold, while the attachments deliver multiple options to aid in recovery and reduce soreness. I find that the Powerboost is a great home gym addition, or throw it in your gym bag or hiking gear for on the go soreness relief that is portable and easy to use.

Absolutely amazing product. The different speed levels are super easy to use, and the interchangeable heads are exactly what makes this product stand out. It is not to heavy of a product and the battery life is more then enough for multiple uses throughout the week. The whole family loves it and can’t stop using it.

We have been using a big-name percussive massager for around 4 years now and have really liked it. I mainly use it on my wife’s back as she works with younger kids at a preschool and is always bending over or picking them up, which really affects her back. Lately, we’ve been having to search for it as our older son seems to come and borrow it for his after work-out routine quite often and mostly without returning right away. We decided that it was probably a good time to look for an additional one for the household. The Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager by Sharper Image seemed like a good one to try.
This Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager looks to be a newer version of the massager, with some minor changes in design. It is still the typical T-shape that most percussive massagers have (except for our other one), but is more a capital T shape, with no extra little section sticking out on top. The control panel on the back has a single multi-purpose touch-sensitive “button”, a speed level indicator and an outside ring display for the battery remaining (which is up to 3 hours). The button uses a long-press to turn it on, off, or stop (while using it), and single press to cycle through the 7 speed levels (all the way to 0 to turn off as well). It uses a USB-C connection for charging so any USB-charger will work on it or can use the included cable. It does have a zippered carrying case with slots for all the 6 different attachments (well, 5 slots plus one for the massager with the ball tip attached), but for us, it is a little too bulky to keep in the we normally store our other massager in.
When using it, it fine for most areas without needing to keep it perfectly perpendicular (to keep it from bouncing). As long as you only want to use it on the shoulders/neck, chest, legs or arms, it’s fine to use it by yourself. But if wanting to use it on the back (which is where we use it the most), it is quite difficult without having someone else use it on you. Our other one has a multi-angled grip that allows better use on the back without getting anyone else involved.
What I do like with this one is that the lowest speed is quite a bit lower than our other one, which actually allows me to use it on my calves without making feel like they want to cramp up. And through the lower 2 or 3 speeds, it is much quieter than our other one. I also like that the actuator is fully internal, even though it makes the attachments a little longer. One problem we have with our other one is that the actuator bar is starting to get somewhat grimy, which can get our clothing dirty if it rubs up against it (and it is quite difficult to cleaned off).
I really only have one other minor issue with it. The two softer attachments, which are the ones that we would use the most, have a material or coating that seem to be designed to not be used on clothing. Both make it quite difficult to move up and down an area without it grabbing the fabric along the way, even when pulling the fabric tight. The default ball attachment seems to be the worst of the two. The other attachments are basically pure plastic and smoother, but not exactly what we want to use all the time.
Overall, this is a very capable massager, even though it may be best used by having someone else use it on you.

It works great! Not too noisy. Lots of power and not too bulky.

The Sharper Image Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager is a great product to help relieve some of those aches and pains. The build quality and power of this massager is great too!
The best part about this massager is the powerful motor. I get a lot of tightness in my forearms to the point where it affects my hands and grip. Using this massager I was able to relieve a lot of tension and tightness and it feels so much better. I’ve used a different brand before this and the power doesn’t even come close to the Sharper Image.
The attachments are all good and each have their purpose. Some are more aggressive while others are good for general use. You get a nice molded case to store everything which is really handy.
The LED display is nice and has a cool animation while charging or powering it on. To power it off you have to hold the power button for a couple seconds.
The feel of the massager is good. I do think they should have gone with a more grippy handle as I feel it is kind of slippery and maybe a bit too wide. Not that big of a deal though.
Overall, I definitely recommend this massager. Great power and quality with this one!

I can’t say enough good things about this product. If you have a regular need to soothe sore muscles or alleviate nerve pain, you MUST get one of these! I’m not kidding when I say that it’s been life-changing for me.
Years ago I had the unfortunate experience of being struck by a vehicle. This left me with permanent spinal damage. It also caused me to have intermittent problems with the nerves in my arms and sciatica. Physical therapy has definitely helped as do muscle relaxers when necessary, but they only go so far. There are days where they barely help at all and those are loooong days that are both terribly physically and mentally draining.
Enter the Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager. It’s not exactly like having your own live-in personal masseuse, but it gets close enough for me. Pain from the base of my neck radiating down the back of my shoulder(s) that causes numbness and tingling down my arms? Hit it with a warm compress and a nice kneading from the Powerboost. 20 minutes and it’s like night and day. Especially with the pointier massager head. A total game-changer.
The battery life on this thing is also just crazy! I charged it when I got it, used it a ton (I wish I had kept track specifically, but it had to be for HOURS), and didn’t have to toss it on the charger again for quite a while. It also charges pretty quick which is really nice.
The included carrying case is super nice and very convenient since I now don’t go anywhere where I’m staying overnight without it. Once you have one of these you won’t want to be not have one ever again!

This product does a great job, easy to use. I like all the attachments.

I had hip replacement surgery a few months back. My thigh muscles are still sore and tight from the surgery, plus the bad hip had me walking crooked for years. Now that things are back in the proper geometry, my leg muscles are really sort after any bit of exercise. I’ve been going to a massage therapist for a while and that is helpful, but I can’t go every day.
I found this Sharper Image massager and gave it a try. It really works! I had to experiment a bit on which attachment and speed worked best, but it didn’t take long. I discovered that my muscular leg pain responds best to the soft “ball” style tip on medium speed. I did try some of the other tips on my back and neck, and they work well, too, but my main use of this massager is to sooth my leg. It does a great job!
I really like that it’s rechargeable, so there are no batteries or cords to fool with. Charging is easy, though it does use a proprietary cord instead of standard USB. It charges quickly and lasts a long time. I use it almost daily, but charge it maybe once a week. The controls are easy to use and it’s also easy to see the set speed and remaining battery charge. It’s well made I highly recommend it.

Returned the first one because it wasn’t working. They sent me another and that one didn’t work. Would not recommend!!!

I use this every day. The variety of attachments makes it easy to use for everything.

I am honestly very impressed with this tissue massager. It is not perfect but at this price-point it is a very nice purchase, in my humble opinion.
The packaging is nice and the carry case is a nice touch and well made. The massager is not that heavy but is definitely not whisper quiet. You turn it on by long pressing the orange-yellow indicator button and you need to toggle through the different speeds by clicking on it. There are no hard switches. I like the fact that USB-C charging is there thus negating the use of another redundant charger.
The attachments serve different purposes.
There are the following attachments:
Compression for sensitive areas.
Bar for shoulder and biceps.
Fork for shoulder and back.
Cone for trigger points and knots.
Round for large muscle groups.
Flat for all areas.
I have played around with the attachments and have found them to be useful. The fork was specially nice for the shoulder blades but you need someone to hold the massager for you. The cone is an all-rounder and can be used everywhere. The instructions say that hard areas or bony areas should be avoided. For the hamstrings, I have found both the Round and Compression attachments to be useful.
HIghky recommended.

After trying out the Sharper Image Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager, I’m pleasantly surprised by its effectiveness and versatility. Initially, I didn’t realize the importance of a handheld massager, but now, it’s become an indispensable part of my daily routine. Its ability to provide deep tissue massage with simple operation is impressive. The device includes six specialized attachments (round, flat, fork, cone, air compression, and bar), each designed for specific areas like glutes, arms, thighs, back, chest, shoulders, calves, and feet, catering to various needs.
The Powerboost comes in a well-designed cloth hard case, making it easy to store and travel-friendly. Charging is straightforward with the supplied USB A to USB C cable, and the device holds a charge well, offering about 3 hours of continuous use. The ergonomic design makes it easy to handle, and its quiet yet powerful operation is a major plus. The simplicity of changing attachments and adjusting power levels enhances the overall experience.
However, it’s important to note the intensity of this massager. It doesn’t just vibrate or roll; it provides a pounding, deep impact, resembling a reciprocating saw’s motion. This intensity is what sets it apart from other massagers. The build quality is solid, and the attachments fit securely, requiring some effort to switch, ensuring they stay in place during use. The manual provides valuable instructions on how to use the device properly, which is crucial to avoid any potential bruising from high speeds or incorrect pressure application.
The user interface is intuitive, with a touch sensitive screen that shows the battery life and speed settings. This massager excels in working out kinks and soreness, proven to be particularly helpful for elderly users with back pain. As a versatile tool, the Powerboost has found multiple uses in my household. It’s great for post-workout recovery, offering various attachments and power levels to suit different needs. The massager’s ability to adjust speed automatically under increased pressure to maintain speed is a standout feature.
In conclusion, the Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager is a well-crafted, balanced, and highly effective tool. It’s a valuable addition to any home gym or as a portable device for on-the-go relief. Whether you’re an athlete needing post-workout recovery or someone seeking relief from chronic muscle pain, this massager offers a range of options to aid in recovery and reduce soreness. I highly recommend it for its robust performance, ease of use, and the relief it provides.

The Sharper Image – Powerboost Deep Tissue Massager – Black is my first deep tissue massager. I will start by saying my only wish is that I wish there could have been a wider attachment. Like one that covers more of your skin surface. However, I recognize that this is a handheld device and it works great for what is it. That said, I love the massager. I have used it to massage away some pain that is not related to working out and exercising. Had a knot in my lower left back that I just could not work out on my own. A couple minutes with the massager, and the knot was gone and I literally was pain free. I have also used this after exercising to help prevent some of the muscle soreness that comes along with working out, lifting weights, and exercising. I would like to mention that this is pretty easy to use. There is a card inside that tells you the name of the attachment, the recommended body parts to use it, and what it’s good for. Very helpful. I have let my kindergarten niece use it, making sure she keeps it aways from her bones. She asked if I would buy her one when she turns 16. I have let house guests use it and they all love it.
WilliamD –
This product is just what I was looking for. I bought it as a gift and now the whole family uses it! Highly reccomend
SorenL –
Powerful massager, it helped relieve pain I had in my shoulder
MKLight –
TL;DR:
1. USE: Charge it, turn it on, enjoy decreased pain
2. SETUP: Charge it before initial use (less than 1 hour)
3. Usability: It’s easy. It’s not too heavy, but may be depending on your dexterity
4. It’s well made, feels good in the hand and looks premium
I have been using the Sharper Image – Powerboost Deep Tissues Massager in black for about 3 weeks. This was to replace a generic, low-priced competitor, as the competitor’s battery life was never great and getting worse. I would get 10-20 minutes max out of it before it would need to be fully recharged with the supplied cable, or it wouldn’t fully charge. This Sharper Image model is significantly lighter, has excellent battery life, works as expected and comes with a high quality and attractive looking case with a built in holder for all its attachments, all the attachments you need including a USB-C charging cable and cheat sheets to help ensure you know how to properly use the massager.
It has a nice heft and quality build to its soft, matte finish body and textured, soft rubber handle grip. The charcoal and black color with orange accents, including on the attachments are a very nice color scheme.
The battery life is excellent. When I first got it, I followed the instructions and fully charged it before using. After the first use, which was roughly 20 minutes, the battery level didn’t drop at all. I charged it to ensure it was fully charged. Since, I’ve used it about 3 times a week for 5-10 minutes and haven’t recharged it at all. Very impressive!
To turn it on, there is a red pressure sensored circle you press for a couple seconds. It turns on to level zero. To activate it to work you, press the circle once per level. After Level 7, it returns to the standby level, Level 00. To fully turn is off, you press and hold the red circle. In use, per the instructions, I have just used the circular/ball head. My lower left back is my main pain area. Using this between low and low/medium (1 – 3). It has a max of 7 speed adjustment. It has helped ease tension complementing exercises I also do.
Overall, I’m happy with the Sharper Image massager. I have noticed a decrease in my pain since using it. It has offered better pain management versus the low-priced competitor. I will continue to use this in my exercise routine.
