    After a backup drive from another well-known manufacturer failed after only a few months, we are happy with this Seagate drive. But we had learned previously to back up alternately to TWO backup drives every day, so we didn’t lose any important data.

    Drive comes with an exFAT format, so can be swapped to Mac or PC. I did not know that, so I did not initialize or format the drive to be NTFS for use only with PC before loading several terabytes of data which took most of a 24-hour day. Computer will not boot with the drive connected as Win 10 is somehow recognizing it as a boot drive. Many hours have been spent trying to correct this problem. Can connect the drive after booting or restarting and it works as intended. Very inconvenient.

    Bought 1/14/2022 to use with my brand new all in one pc. It was delivered 1/19/2022. Worked well until about a week ago. Now it does not show up in file manager. But does show up in device manager. It is makes noises and clicks when disconnected. Tried using on 4 different computers with same issues purchased recommended replacement power adapter and cable still doesnt work. I will be contacting seagate to see what can be done. Ridiculous that it quit working not even 6 months after purchase. I cant believe i lost 200-300gbs of important data because of this hdd

    Works great. I recently purchased a different model that was DOA but this one worked perfectly. I am not sure how fast it transfers because I was transferring large amounts of data between two external drives but it still worked well with no errors.

    I returned the WD D-10 because it kept intermittently sleeping between 30 seconds to a few minutes which couldn’t be fixed even in the terminal on my M1 mini. i know its been a long debate between WD and Seagate but from my experiences Seagate has brought me the least amount of issues. I got the 8 tb and have dumped about 5tb of movies on it. no delays at all.

    I didn’t get a chance to try this drive. I was malfunctioning out of the box. I could hear the driving making a chunking sound, obviously not spinning properly. Returned and got my money back

    Got this for my xbox series S and now i dont have to worry about running out of space or deleting games i want to get back to, since i can transfer it to this hard drive!

    Would recommend if you play lots of games and need the space.

    I have a number of this line of Seagate Expansion drives, dating back at least 5 years. They have always worked well for me. Previous models I have purchased had a built-in USB hub – which I never used. This one does not.

    I save a lot of raw files for bird photography so I needed the disk space so I got this external hard drive for that purpose. It is easy to install and just simply plug and play. It is a bit big though but for the capacity of 8 TB, that should be okay.
