MrPeebles –
I bought this unit after moving to a new home. My goal was to house all of my home theater components and not have the mass of wires hanging out from all sides.
I found it on one of the sites Best Buy price matches with and got it for less than the stated price. Best Buy was great about it. No hassles what so ever.
The unit was wrapped and strapped on a skid upright and was delivered by motor freight. I tipped it on its back to get it in my pickup truck camper and used hand trucks to wheel it around the house to my basement.
The unit comes with 2, 1U (single height) shelves, 2, 2U (double height) shelves and 2, 3U shelves. It also has 3 blanking panels in the 3 different heights to fill in any holes. Never having done it before, I made a couple of false starts before I came out with with an arrangement that I liked which meant some shelf moving, but it was no big deal. Even fully loaded, it moves easily in and out of the corner I have it placed in and being able to remove the side and back panels makes it really easy to get to everything.
I am still in mid process of bundling wires together and putting order to my connections. the slots in the shelves and in the cross and vertical pieces makes for a lot of places to thread my cable ties through to get things cinched down.
As far as any additional purchases I am going to need to make for this unit, I will be buying an additional 1U or 2U shelf and a 1U blanking panel when the Xbox One is released and possibly a cooling fan depending upon the interior temperature once everything is buttoned up and powered on.
I am very happy with this unit. It is well thought out, well executed and very attractive.

First rack was damaged on delivery, but the store took care of pick up and re-delivery. Looks great. Nice straight lines.

This is a great rack make no mistakes about it. How ever its not made of very thick material as say a Middle Atlantic cabinet. For this price it should have been built much more heavy duty.
That being said its still a great cabinet. Just some flimsy pieces you have to make work like the top cable inlet on mine is popped up from the rack its self. The bottom cable inlet part is the same way and I noticed that there are some sharp edges around the port so I think I will buy some edge guard to wrap around it so it will not cut the cables that are going through the port.
Also the front solid legs not the rollers are to far forward so you can not hide them with a blanking plate for a cleaner look. So I will have to buy a larger blanking plate to fit in to the space and then have to make a bend in it in a couple spots so that the legs could be hidden and not seen for a much cleaner look. Because of this I docked this cabinet 1 full star.
Paying this kind of money you would expect more attention to detail. Especially since they are probably only using about $100 in actual Metal cost to build it and probably $300 total for everything.
Oh and before you buy make sure the measurements fit your needs. I am installing in to a closet and mounting through a wall in to the media room and lucky for me I only had to take off door edge trim to get this in the closet. Other wise I would have had to cut the hole though the wall to get it to go in to the closet.

This thing came in the mail already assembled and ready to roll! The packaging was great and nothing was damaged. This rack is built with excellent quality and not that cheap flimsy metal material. The versatility is outstanding with the rack options. It comes with adjustable shelves for stereo components OR you can rack mount your stuff. Each side panel is easily removable and clips back in effortlessly. I would recommend this to anyone and hope that they understand its worth every penny!! Don’t skimp out and buy a cheap rack that you have to assemble and falls apart. Buy this one and don’t look back!

This is a very nice rack, well built, lots of flexibility and configuration options. My unit came with four 2u shelves and no 3u shelves or spacers (there should have been two of each shelf and one 3u spacer). I called the mfr (their number is in the features section of the product listing on BB website) and they shipped out two 3u shelves and the spacer that day for free.
Great customer service, but check your rack when you get it. They may be assembling them incorrectly at Sanus.

Exceeded my expectations, very well built and fits perfectly where it was intended to go. Product also has great functionality and can adjust to fit my equipment. I am very happy with the purchase and will continue to purchase further products from Best Buy where my experience has always been good.

My wife was initially hesitant to the design but after receiving the special delivery she quite enjoys the looks and functionality. I added the multi volt power supply, task light, and fan to go along with it.

After moving the 196 lbs item w packing materials down a flight of stairs, I was very please to find the item virtually already put together. The rack is very well put together. It allowed me to relocate shelf and remove one to fit my 70’s style equipment into the cabinet. No more CAM lock furniture for me.

This rack is well worth the money!! All the tangle of wires are neatly tied up and the plug bars are easy to get at. The sides and back are nice and easy to take off or put back on. So if your looking for a new rack , look no further!! This is the one!.

Super value, this cabinet is far superior to what I thought it would be. Well made and good looking, especially for audio equipment!
GQUE –
Good product that holds all of my a/v equipment. Good buy for the price.
Applehead –
This a great price for a rack with a built in cooling system.

I’m so glad I didn’t skimp on the rack as having a well organized cable management system not only looks great but is well worth the investment to ensure equipment function and future expansion.

Solid shelves and unit. On wheels with feet to stabilize when wanted. It comes preassembled so you need to take some time to unscrew the shelves to place them in your desired position so it takes some time to unscrew 4 screws per shelf and then screw them back in.

Very versatile. Holds all my components. Looks great. Very sturdy.

First thing they put a giant sticker on the glass which will leave residue on the glass that you need to clean off and to make matters worse whatever adhesive they used stinks/off gasses like crazy!
They also designed aspects of the rack poorly and their products don’t even fit their maximum depth of the rack (without moving the rails). One of the pieces even came bent in the corner so I would say their QC is poor as well.
Contacted customer service about all my issues and were little to no help and took a really long time to respond.
I don’t plan on purchasing another one of their products again and this item is supper inconvenient to return itself!

Great finishing touch to my home theater. I’ve stacked components on a wooden shelf /table for years, and finally got around to completing my media server PC in a rack-mount 4U case.
Note: if you want to rack mount a server on sliding rails, this Sanus rack has threaded rails, not the square IT-rack rails that use cage nuts.
The good:
– well-built, heavy duty enough for any type of theater equipment you want to mount.
– Shelves and blanking panels provided in a good array to make most configurations work
– flexibility around cooling options so you can make it work for what you need
– all 4 sides are removable and all 4 corners isolate the sides from the front /back (meaning you can leave the front and/or back doors off permanently and still seal the front or back with blanking panels so intake fans can bring in cool air in the bottom and exhaust hot air out the top as it should.)
The bad:
– it’s heavy, tho this is actually good
– it’s expensive, if you are just starting down the path of rack-mounting your theater setup, be aware of these additional potential costs: 1 – cooling (extremely important to the life of your now-enclosed electronics – PLAN TO GET FANS), 2 – power management (everything in your rack needs to plug in somewhere, this can be a power conditioner $$$$ or a couple of good surge protectors $), cable management (with the back door on the rack, you may need to re-cable or adjust certain patch cords (i.e. speakers) from the back of your components out the bottom of the rack and back up to your wall jacks, allowing enough slack to move the rack and access the back)
– mine had a minor dent in the top corner, not bad tho, I’m sure from shipping. Check the top corners right away, I only noticed once everything was in mine!
– no possible way, that I could find, to use cage nut mounted server rails. This type of rail ‘hangs’ from a square rack rail and the screw simply locks it in place. The Sanus rack is threaded, there is no squares and therefore no reasonable way to hang Dell or HP server rails from this rack. I ended up using a shelf. It works and I rarely need to access my media server case.
Best add-on to go with this rack:
– AC Infinity “Cloudplate” fan units (Amazon) hands down these are the best soon to this rack. They are awesome ‘smart’ fans for exactly this purpose. The “T” series are for theaters and are quieter than the “X” series. I love the smart control options, the lcd displays, temperature probe flexibility, and the ability to piggyback multiple units of one controller/program. I have 1 input “T7” on the bottom front of my rack, 1 top-vent “T2” directly over my receiver/audio processor (inside the rack), and 2 “T9″s at the top of my rack, one out the front and 1 out the top. My receiver is now 30 degrees F cooler than it was previously with the fans only kicking up to level 2 of 6, barely audible.
Second best add-on was replacing the rear door with a series of 6U hinged blanking panels (Amazon) as I have a 4U server on the bottom of my rack that sticks out the back and prevents my use of the back door. These 6U panels allow me to seal the back for air movement and still have easy access to the back of the rack.
I love this rack and the cooling it can provide if setup right. A great fit and finish to my home theater setup!

The Sanus 27U A/V rack is well designed and executed. Everything seems to fit and work well. The ability to rotate the rack for access to the rear of components is a great boon for an 83 year old guy. Fit and finish above reproach.

Excellent item, good quality and good material. This is what I was looking for.. thank you

Never realized how a nice looking equipment rack can make all the difference. Love this rack: (1) it is easily customizable; (2) provides ample ventilation (I leave the back off and use a top venting fan that sits directly on the receiver); (3) organizes cables and power cords well, especially if you use furman filters (power outlets); (4) comes preassembled (except for the customizable shelves); and (5) it looks impressive. Highly highly recommend using Geek Squad to set up. Thought I could do it myself, but it looks 1000% better being professionally set up. Worthy every penny!!

This is a great component rack and is very clean looking as it hides the component wires very well.
