Meh. It didn’t live up to my expectations for the cost. It required a lot of fine tuning to be competitive with other soundbars I tried, and still didn’t impress when dialed in. I went with a Sonos surround setup and am thoroughly pleased. No muss no fuss and better sound.

We really like the Harman-Kardon Dolby Atmos! The sound is amazing and of course it works great with our Samsung 85″ Smart TV! Samsung Electronics acquired Harman-Kardon in 2017 for US$8 billion in cash. However, Harman-Kardon is an independent subsidiary of Samsung.
Best Buy offered us a bundle price if we purchased the TV plus Sound Bar…we did. We highly recommend this sound bar!

I grabbed an open box unit, paired it with the optional Wireless rears and was frankly astonished at the performance. On initial setup, everything was wildly overpowered regardless of volume, but after adding the Soundbar to SmartThings app and running the tuning feature, it cleaned up into a lovely Atmos surround field.
The sheer wattage and volume this thing packs is way more than I could ever comfortably use, but the fidelity and positional detail, as well as ease of use (after setup!) made this a real bargain. Even at full retail I think I would be more than happy.
It’s BIG. Long, heavy, giant sub and the HW 9500s rear speakers are big and heavy too but at least they have all the wireless and codec stuff built in, no need for speaker wire or the infra red box used on the smaller ones.

I have a 55″ Samsung Q80T from 2021. This soundbar was easy to set up and install, HDMI eArc works well, and music sounds amazing on this. Vocals are far clearer now, and Q Symphony works well (basically TV + Soundbar config on the TV with the mode set to Adaptive).
I haven’t really had any issues yet beyond Spotify not working one day. It was an easy fix though; just had to unplug the bar for 1 minute then plug it back in.
For music, I recommend Standard mode and setting the Advanced EQ to your liking via the Samsung SmartThings app. The other modes don’t sound quite as nice but are great for TV/movies.
Some things to note:
+ This bar is a big boy. Like it is thick in height and depth.
+ The subwoofer was larger than expected. Basically just get the measurements done beforehand
+ The power cable plugs in about 1/3 of the overall length away from the left side.
+ Similarly, the other interfaces (HDMI, optical) is about 1/3 of the overall length from the right side.
+ This is an older model as the 990B and 930B are out now. You may not be able to find this easily.
+ Original price is overpriced imo. I managed to get it for $899 due to price matching with Amazon via customer support chat.

On my old setup, I had a receiver hooked to speakers. With this hooked to my Samsung TV, I don’t need all of that. Much easier, and sounds better than what I had before. Win-win.

Bought this item in “open box excellent” condition which means it should not be missing any vital components or have much cosmetic damage. It was missing the HDMI cable and the wall mount. The surface of the subwoofer was decently scratched as well. Not sure why this is being sold as “open box excellent”. I should have checked in store before taking this home. Lesson learned though. When I reached out to online customer care, they said to “happily visit the best buy store” in a passive-aggressive way. I have been a loyal best buy customer for the past few years, and this is the first bad experience I have had so far at Best Buy.

Unfortunately unboxed soundbar and subwoofer and looks as if the subwoofer had been previously dropped as there is damage to one corner of the subwoofer. Other then that playing in Dolby atmos mode sounds great, in q symphony mode I don’t really notice too much of a difference. In Bluetooth mode is where I start to see issues. Sound quality isn’t impressive at all while streaming something from phone. Will play with it a bit and see how I feel later.

I’m not really a soundbar person but I purchased these after seeing many positive reviews online from various sites. The soundbar sounds amazing. Better than a lot of the competing bars. Added the back speaker and find the setup better than my surround sound system with a receiver and separate speakers. Samsung has done a great job with this. Worth the money. Pay a little more than those $100-$300 ones with less features and subpar sound.

I recently purchased the Samsung HW-Q900A 7.1.2ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos in Black, eager to enhance my home entertainment experience with high-quality audio. While I loved many aspects of this soundbar, the volume levels ultimately left me wanting more, leading me to return the product.
One of the standout features of this soundbar is the Dolby Atmos technology, which creates an immersive, three-dimensional audio experience. This definitely added depth and dimension to the sound, making movies and music come to life. Additionally, the soundbar’s sleek design and black color allowed it to blend seamlessly with my living room setup.
The setup process was also straightforward and hassle-free, which I appreciated. It was easy to connect the soundbar to my TV and other devices, and the included remote control made navigating the various settings a breeze.
However, despite the impressive audio quality and features, I was disappointed with the volume levels. I expected a soundbar of this caliber to be able to deliver a powerful and room-filling sound, but the volume simply did not meet my expectations. At higher levels, the audio began to lose some of its clarity, and I found myself constantly adjusting the volume in an attempt to find the perfect balance.
In the end, I decided to return the Samsung HW-Q900A 7.1.2ch Soundbar with Dolby Atmos – Black because it did not provide the level of volume I desired for my home entertainment setup. While I loved the Dolby Atmos technology and overall design, I ultimately needed a soundbar that could deliver a more powerful and impactful audio experience.
If you’re in the market for a soundbar with exceptional audio quality and an immersive soundstage, the Samsung HW-Q900A 7.1.2ch Soundbar might be a great fit for you. However, if you prioritize powerful, room-filling volume, you may want to consider alternative options that can better meet your needs.

Amazing product, the only inconvenience is the volume display is at the top of the soundar bar,meaning you have to get up from the seated position to see the current volume dispaly, otherwise a great buy and sound is deep and rich

Legitimately the best sound bar we’ve ever owned! We asked the sales guy to give us a demonstration on their best sound bar and this was the one he demo’d. We were instantly sold! The bass is full-bodied and out of this world good. It’s made a great addition to our media room. It really gives movie theater vibes. I love that Alexa is built into the speaker as well. I can control the tv, lights, blinds, etc for our media room which is super convenient. It’s great for playing music as well! Would absolutely recommend.

This soundbar is absolutely AMAZING! This is the best soundbar I have ever owned, although also the highest priced as well. I got it on a fantastic deal when it was open box, where is was pretty much half off! The remote for this is alright, but I connected the bar to my LG OLED through EARC, so I just use my TV remote. You can also use the SMART THINGS app to see and change all the settings and equalizers. The biggest cons? Well price has to be talked about, I wish the remote was a bit better even if I don’t use it. My biggest dislike about this product is that the display is on top of the soundbar, which makes it impossible to see when mounted flat or even just sitting on a stand.

This soundbar is excellent. I have it connected via 4K Ultra HDMI to my Samsung QD OLED S95B 65″ TV which is a truly fantastic TV. The only hiccup was figuring out the bluetooth pairing, but that only took a couple of minutes. I wish I had purchased the full surround with rear speakers, but plan to add them. I would buy it again without hesitation.

For the money the bass should match the sound. It is very weak at only 28w my other setup also samsung was less than 250 and the sub is rated at 40 w huge difference. If your looking for bass go a different route.
