It’s been 6 months since we got this cooktop to replace an old GE profile.
On the good side: looks and design are great, it heats everything really fast, it’s very versatile with one very large burner and the square flex burner.
On the not so good side: the beep alarm is not loud enough, the blue LED lights are not as fancy as the pics show, the flex burners are tricky to use and the timer is not easy to use.
On the bad side: the touch sensors are not sensitive enough nor are they accurate enough and make it worse the magnetic knob is not any better. It’s a bit pricey compared to other induction cooktop.

This Samsung unit replaces a 10+ year old induction kitchenaid and how technology has advanced since then. “watched water” boils super fast and having the blue light intensity match the heat level may seem gimmicky, but it really does add a nice touch if your pans are polished.
The magnetic knob to adjust the temperature is useful, but not at all needed. Just make sure you don’t accidentally toss it out with the box because it is small and easily missed.
Using the griddle feature to make pancakes is a breeze for how large the surface area is too. I’ve noticed other pots and pans I’ve used in the past seem to heat up a lot quicker too. Not sure if that is the better elements in this one or a sign of how faded my old cooktop was.
Be warned though, this beast does require a 50 amp breaker (I think manual says 48, but I don’t think those exist). So check your circuit panel before ordering because a 50 amp breaker can’t (shouldn’t!) use 40 amp wiring.
Also, while this is listed as a 36″ cooktop, measure your existing opening carefully. This is a very ‘compact’ 36″ and I had to add some structure to my existing countertop so this one wouldn’t fall through the hole. All totaled less than $60 in hardware and was well worth it.

We just renovated our kitchen. Upgraded from our old electric range to this induction cooktop. The difference is amazing. Pots and pans are hot almost instantly. For comparison, we boiled a Dutch oven full of water on the old range, and it took 20 minutes exactly. With our new cooktop, the exact same pot with the same amount of water took 5 minutes 30 seconds. Great for regular cooking as well. Gets pans VERY hot at the higher settings. Looks great too, especially when cooking with the “flame” lights. Not nearly as noisy as I expected; it mainly just has noise when starting on high settings to boil water. After seeing how well induction works, I am surprised companies are not promoting this technology more.

It has been nothing but disappointing since we renovated our kitchen. The surface is hardly scratch resistant and causes us to feel we have to baby it beyond reason. We mostly keep it covered in silpats to protect it but it still manages to get scratched. As others have mentioned the touch controls are garbage and the wheel it comes with doesn’t always work and lately it will randomly change the settings which caused us to burn some food. The markings on the surface are very much on the surface and if you rub it too hard they will fade. I now have one spot on it that looks fainter than the rest for that exact reason and I’ve had it for less than a year. I can only imagine what it will look like in time. Lastly, and worst of all I suppose, it sucks at its primary function, Cooking! It heats horrifically uneven. I’m guessing that most of the people here reviewing just boil water. This is my biggest issue because we have a 3yr warranty but I’m not sure what the point of trying to address issues for something this bad. I will be going back to gas eventually. Given the cost, it’s all the more painful.
Turbo –
Much better than gas. Best cooktop ever. Never own gas again

We had a GE model for 5 years until it quit working. This new Samsung model has better control interface and does heat quicker.
I do notice that there is a couple second delay before heat seting adjusts. The GE did not have this issue. Once water starts to boil over pot, you need to adjust temp and lift pot for a second. With our old GE, i didn’t remember this issue; temp adjustments we immediate.
Rubychica –
Boils water super fast. That’s awesome. But if you want accurate touch sensors and if you like evenly cooked pancakes, don’t get this cooktop. We have tried to get the issue fixed but Samsung refuses to acknowlege the problem unless we have tons of video footage. I’m busy cooking, I’m not about to whip out my camera every single time my food is cooking unevenly.
Moralesaiko –
Cooking time has been cut tremendously with this induction cooktop. And looks so fancy. Great buy.
Rrleap –
Induction cooking is better than expected. Boils water extremely fast. Cooks a very consistent temperature. This cooktop is amazing.
treweldy –
Wonderful appliance! Looks great and the price was good.

Samsung has the worst appliances I ever bought. Refrigerator freezer that’s out refreezes for no reason. Spent $1000 extra for outside door. Piece of crap. Doesn’t open properly half the time. Cooktop won’t work half the time. Wall oven had to be replaced within 7 months. Cooktop cuts off due to heating issues. Heat sensor replaced same issues. Cooktop goes from setting 3 to 15 by itself burns food. Samsung has no customer service. Very poor. Closes out tickets with no repair tech ever sent out over and over. No return calls from Samsung. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT MADE BY SAMSUNG! BEWARE! BAD SAMSUNG REVIEWS ON LINE. RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY.

You can control the temp with your finger or use the knob magnet but both require the right pressure to make anything happen. The blue faux flames are cool.
Anna –
We switched from gas cooktop to indunction and ABSOLUTELY love it . It cooks scho much more evenly. Doesn’t get hot around it. Safe. The best decision!!!!

Be aware that while says on site in questions and answers can install with 40 amp circuit and 8 gauge wire in reality needs 50 amp circuit and 6 gauge wire. Had to hire electrician FOR $$$ to run new line and install 50 amp circuit breaker. Best Buy was not helpful at all and said what was on their site regarding the amps and wire gauge was not their responsibility although no disclaimer regarding this on the site. I was stuck as took out old cook top before this one was delivered. Cook top works great now that have proper wiring.

First, There are a couple of things you need to know. Not all your cookware will work on this cooktop. Make sure your cookware allows for induction cooking.
Things that I love: With the power boost you can boil water in seconds, It heats fast, and there is not much heat lost (so the kitchen does not feel like an oven when cooking). The cooktop cools relatively fast too after you remove your cookware.
Things that they could improve. The dial response is a little disappointing. The app only allows you to see if it is on or off but does not allow you to control it (like turn it off) from your phone.
Takes some time to get used to it but after it it is great.
InductionFan –
We love our new induction cooktop. We do use the magnetic knob with it but it is not necessary. I find that summer is too low so I would use that button to keep food warm and turn up the knob a bit to simmer. The setting to boil water works wonders and boils water rapidly. We bought a griddle that spans both burners to make pancakes, etc. and we need to move it off after to let the cooktop cool but other than that, it cooks instantly.
Thepenman –
Cook top way to sensitive. Any water on it gives it a mind of its own. It does heat up quickly. Always dirty.
Jimvano –
Love the induction cook top. Versatile, quick to heat, fine grained heat control when they work BUT magnetic control system is terrible. Power will jump from 5 to 15 or 10 to 2 simply by picking up the knob to move it to another burner. If not careful food gets burned. We can turn the know completely twice and temp won’t move. Super flaky control system that is poorly designed. Only negative to the system.
BillM –
I am pretty happy with the stovetop. Works well, and the installation went with a few minor mishaps. I am concerned about the long term reliability of Samsung appliances so we’ll see.
FloridaDeb –
Looks great, and boils water so fast! First induction cooktop and it’s really awesome
KBOH –
it can bring water to a boil super fast. Only con is the controls, the dial doesn’t work very well
jcovert –
I replaced a Kenmore induction cooktop and this one is better than my old one.
JohnH –
The first one was DOA, and the second one lasted 6 weeks. The lights probably only look good on stainless steel pans (ours are dark).
I have to say that we are underwhelmed. A lot of money for a lot of problems. TV dinners for now.
Los713 –
We are loving how quick it heats up water to boil. No joke around a minute for water to boil! Can’t get no faster. Very slick design and easy to use and pair with hood vent and to phone.
Sweetsai –
Work says advertise, easy to clean and easy set up.
CraigS –
Excellent product. Heats up crazy fast and look incredible. Its noisier than I expected. You can hear a humming sound that louder on high heat. My only gripe is it didn’t come with the manuals and magnetic knobs.
Junk –
Over all very happy. The heat setting when trying to adjust is very slow to change. It’s like it thinking about it before it dose it.
BarnBuilderBob –
We have been this new house for 15 months and love the idea of Induction Cooking. The flexibility of this unit is commendable. The touch controls however are a constant problem. If something boils over, the controls go berserk. Burners may turn all the way up or turn off. Controls do not always respond, often my wife will have me come to adjust the temperature because it doesn’t respond to her fingers. The magnetic knob is worthless. Also, if removing a lid and a drop us water lands near one of the controls, what was on simmer is suddenly at the highest heat setting. We did all Samsung, dbl oven, dishwasher, clothes washer & dryer. This cooktop is our only regret because the controls will not stay in control.
Haves –
Wasnt sure if I could convert from a gas stove to an induction but I am so glad I did. No grates to clean, no open flame, but cooks amazing and super easy to clean. Awesome and modern.
ELD115 –
I am very disappointed with Samsung and Best Buy. I bought a suite of Samsung appliances (refrigerator, induction cook top, hood, dishwasher and wall oven.) I had t=now for about three months and had the dishwasher replace 3 times, cook top twice, oven twice and refrigerator twice. I have the extended warranty but that does not help. The cook top and wall over have the same problems as the original units. No way to escalate and get these problems fixed. Samsung and Best Buy do not care about you after the sale is complete.
Chuck –
Very good product. Easy to control. Easy to clean up. While running “P” mode, it makes some noise, but acceptable. Very powerful so cooking time reduced a lot.
lwward –
We love this cooktop! We had a broken one for over a year by Frigidaire. This thing is amazing! Things heat up so quickly! Its variable controls are exactly what we need. We are still learning a bit, but so far it’s been magical!
And Best Buy is so great, the way they manage their inventory. The whole world is on a 4-5 month backlog for anything like this product, and they had one I could get when I had no way to cook!
MrMom –
Great product and easy to clean. Heats extremely fast and looks great. So far, zero complaints.
Myhome –
Best induction cooktop I have ever owned. It took a couple months for it to arrive. Installation was simple, replacing a 8 year old GE Profile electric cooktop. No issues with the fit and 50a breaker is sufficient. Boils water in seconds!!! I like the simmer and melt functions as well.
randys480 –
I was a little skeptical that it would fit. It dropped right into the same hole that previously hosted my older GE profile ceramic element cooktop. Works great! Water boils in under a minute. Works with my cast iron pans. ( buy silicone/fiberglass mats to protect the glass) My wife is having a tough time as she is used to starting a pan and then chopping all her vegetables etc… As close to magic cookery as you will get. We can feel the difference in the kitchen as it does not heat the whole room up when cooking.
Beautifully finished simple controls and quiet, very quiet compared to some brands.
Verified –
I’ve only had titles a couple of weeks and have only used the stovetop a few times. However, I am happy with the way it cooks and love the power setting. I like the fact that the stovetop is somewhat cool as soon as you turn the burner off or remove the pot. We have a 3 yr. old who loves to play in the kitchen. I consider this a safety enhancement for the home. Love that it is easy to clean.
MME31 –
Great addition to my new kitchen, work very well and very fast
Forthepoints –
Works great, use daily. Induction is the way to go. Very fast and even heating. Almost all my pans carried over. I wish the interface was different. They need to put the controls in the lower corner and “select zone” then “select power setting”. The sliding circle is flawed, especially when cooking and water/grease particles register false touches. Glad to have but a redesign of controls would make it perfect.
MikeA –
After 30 months of use, this unit quit working (out of warranty). 5 visits from Samsung service, $500 and 5 days of vacation burned and we STILL do not have a working cooktop. I will NEVER buy another Samsung product again.
Spend the money on Bosch. I should have.
Chefbellaire –
Looks great and performs as it should. Samsung is showing out with this one.
Elhader –
Amazing cooktop, a piece of technology, works perfectly
NelsonD –
Excellent service and answers to need. Somewhat expensive and I have purchased 20 appliances and little discount if any
Sonny –
We were quite surprise with the performance of this Induction Cooktop. It’s a must get for anyone planning to upgrade their kitchen appliance.
AccountingSpecialist –
My first induction stovetop and I am loving it. I am amazed at how quickly I can boil water. Also how I can go from boiling over to not boiling over in just seconds.
My only con is the trickiness in getting the temp setting adjusted. Use of my finger or the magnet knob is not the easiest.
It wipes clean with little effort.
I bought mine as an open box. So ignore the Value rating.
LauraA –
Cooks fast and good. The reason I bought A induction cooktop is because I have toddlers and I had electric cooktop before that and it would take forever to cool off, so I decided to go with the induction. It works very well and once you remove your pan, it’s warm to the touch. Cooks off fast.
geek –
This is a most promising purchase, easy to cook and clean. Definitely need some getting started and change up of all your pots but it’s worth it.
SteveC –
I love the induction takes a little bit to get the hang of it
Melissa –
I really wanted to love this cooktop, but I couldn’t get my supposedly “induction ready” cookware to work with it consistently. I had some decent luck with the FlexZone burner, but the others were totally hit or miss. I would recommend that Samsung either include free cookware that they know works, or recommend a very specific set.
I spent most of my summer waiting for a replacement to be delivered and cooking on my much faster propane camping stove.
Laroy –
The highest quality cooktop I have used. Samsung is simply one of the best appliance makers on the market, and this cooktop is among the best available.
RachelJ –
Honestly, this cooktop is not great. It is very sleek and looks nice but the controls on it suck! They’re hard to press sometimes, super sensitive sometimes. If you remove a pan from the burner for just 20 seconds, for example, to drain water, the burner turns off automatically. I had high hopes and was hoping some of the other reviews were being over picky but I would choose something else. In fact, I wouldn’t choose Samsung appliances at all. Other than our dishwasher, we have been very disappointed by all the Samsung appliances we purchased.
