    Unbeatable for the price, but sometimes has me wishing I would have sprung for a Samsung, OWC, etc.

    I bought this to install in my mothers 2017 iMac that Apple inexplicably installed a slow mechanical hard drive in and sold with only 8GB of RAM. The limited RAM meant the OS would be swapping the HD quite often and dragged the system to a crawl – even during most simple tasks like opening email or text documents.

    I ordered more RAM from another vendor, an install kit and picked up this PNY SSD to bring her iMac closer to modern standards.

    The difference is night and day, but the PNY begins to show its weaknesses (compared to SSDs from some other brands) during prolonged read and write procedures. Still – it’s more than enough for my mother.

    Bought to upgrade an older Dell Optiplex 7020. Plugged in the cable, plugged into the motherboard, installed Windows 10 Pro. No problem and although a budget SSD, still WAY faster than the original spinning disc hard drive it came with.

    Worth the price, you dont need an expensive ssd since you will barely see the difference in speed in real time so settle with this and save some money!

    This hard drive is reasonable and easy to use. After you format and initialize it, you can use it for any purpose you like. It has really great speed for 2.5” form factor and is super reliable, I’ve used many of these and never had any issues, Mac or Windows both work really well! If you need an SSD like this, you will get roughly same performance for this PNY as you would from any Samsung SSD in this form factor. I recommend it!

    I’m don’t remember what specific project I bought this for but I’ve been using it as a project drive for a couple months now and it’s taken everything I’ve thrown at it. I used it to boot Ubuntu to see if an old motherboard still worked, I’ve used it with a SATA to USB cable a number of times as an external drive, most recently I used it to back up a PS4 while I did an upgrade to it’s storage, and it worked great in all those cases. It’s not the fastest SSD around and feels kinda cheap in the hands but it functions and doesn’t ask any questions and that’s what I need it to do.

    Works fine. Maybe not the top-of-the-line Samsung EVO drive, but a cheap upgrade off of mechanical hard disks for older desktops/laptops. Give them a bit of extra pep in their step… Haven’t had any fail early yet. Seems to work fine, have decent life. PNY is generally pretty reputable, IMO. [Granted, more known for their graphics cards and maybe thumb drives. But, this drive seems to work just fine and get the job done without too much fuss.]
