I like the fact this media player have a phone holder and the pioneer smart app is the interface that controls everything.
GoldenGod –
Good head unit for those that no longer need a CD player. Only annoying part is that I can only adjust audio settings via app. Wish it was possible thru buttons on face of the receiver.
Borys –
Amazing addition to any car and the app makes everything so easy to use

Makes a dated radio come alive with your smart phone in an old car.
Eddie –
Great radio and the bluetooth is awesome!! The cellphone holder fits perfectly and holds my cellphone in place.

While the receiver itself delivers great sound as you would expect from pioneer. The face plate is removable for security reasons I assume. To remove the the face plate you simply push on it and it pops off. The problem is that every control on the unit is push as well, so your driving and need to make a volume adjustment, push the volume button and off pops the faceplate. Every big bump I go over also sends the faceplate shooting off. The manual says to avoid dropping the faceplate but it pops off when I’m driving & it falls to the floor. It has been installed for 3 days and it hate it already. I read that best buys does free installs if you buy a receiver over $100 nut that was never mentioned to me at time of purchase. Had to self install ran into a snag or two had to get pro help and now I am past the allowable return period. I just spent a considerable amount of money on an item I truely hate & I cannot return. The best buy salesman recommended this unit to me. I wish I would have gone with the one I was leaning toward, I gave the salespersons recommendation too much merit. I am completely disappointed in best buy’s customer service overall.

There is nothing like this stereo, it is one of a kind. I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee and wanted to install a stereo that would allow me to have all features of a new stereo system with a screen (GPS, speedo, artist artwork for music) but I didn’t have any room for a giant screen. This allowed me to have all off those features without having a giant screen that will not fit and for a really good price!

Super fun you can equalize everything with the app, change colors too.
Mod the speakers and subwoofer.

After reading older reviews where people had issues with Bluetooth connectivity I was concerned. But I have not had one single issue with that. Also just make sure your firmware is up to date.
Sounds great and really like the interface on my iPhone. The cradle easily accommodates an iPhone max and small case.

I think this could have been a great stereo, but the choices Pioneer made makes it pretty good for what it is.
Pros:
– Good sound quality. Definite improvement (with stock speakers) over my low-end factory stereo, and the equalizer is very effective.
– Good user interface. Simple physical buttons on the stereo face, simple layout of the app on the phone screen.
– Ability to increase the gain on the Bluetooth source, so it’s roughly equalized with the radio.
– Very good phone cradle: sturdy, secure, easy to rotate from landscape to portrait and vice-versa. I particularly like being able to use Google Maps in portrait mode.
– I like the overall physical setup, with a single-DIN stereo that gives me an extra storage spot, and a built-in phone cradle (esthetically more pleasing than one that’s connected to the dash or windshield of blocking an air vent).
Cons:
– The voice assistant in the Pioneer app is useless: when I tell it to call someone it either doesn’t hear me at all or it doesn’t understand me, over and over again. When it finally understood me, it spelled “Allan” as “Allen” and couldn’t find the contact in my phone book. Google Assistant works fine through the microphone, so it’s not a mic issue.
– Messages through the Pioneer app are useless for me: the only options I have for messaging apps are Facebook and Viber; where the hell is Messages, the built-in Android messaging app?
Overall, I like it, I’m keeping it, but I’m playing with using it in conjunction with Android Auto on my phone to get the most out of it.

I love my new car stereo. It comes with a built in phone holder so you can be hands free while driving.
Tony –
Really for the price the only issue is it keeps loosing Bluetooth connection.
JayR –
Sometimes Finnicky, but very useful and looks great also sound good without a EXT. AMP.
Music44 –
I had a radio installed in my son’s first car and he seems to like it so far
PhilB –
I installed this in my 92 camaro quite easily, and is probably tue best unit ive had in the car. There is so much you can do with the app and its super easy to use.
BigBoy –
This receiver is an excellent way to bring a USB connection to charge your phone while you’re driving. Your phone connects to the speakers to deliver your music seamlessly. Good job
Iceman –
First let me say that it works really great it has a great feature that literally adjust the music for you on each speaker so that it gives you the best possible sound and it does it automatically and it changes between songs so that if one second you listening to a rock ‘n’ roll song gives you the better quality to listen to that type of music and then of the next song is more of a hip-hop song it automatically adjust for some thing with more bass . The app itself that you have to download while using this head unit it’s really cool it allows you to jump back-and-forth between different streaming services so I have to give it to pioneer not a bad concept whatsoever. Now for the stuff that well to be completely honest that’s not allowing me to give it five stars, the volume button.,,, in order to turn down the volume button you have to keep pressing it it’s not one of those were you just hold it down and it automatically goes back to zero which is a little annoying. Also the cradle that holds the phone does not charge wirelessly . Also the app could use some easier displays for switching too different sections…. As for the price a can’t complain whatsoever….
Rrz3m –
Simple with clever design integrating mobile phone as the main screen for music, navigation and phone conversation. Various illumination color to match your factory dash lights and the pioneer smart sync app connects reliably.
Elizabeth –
Great radio. Easy to learn and work. I recommend this radio.
Jsconstruction –
App is cumbersome and faceplate sticks often and doesn’t eject.
Lamont –
Purchased this item on 3-7-22, it’s now 4-8-22 and I have used the radio less than 5 times and now the rca rear outputs are at maybe 5%. Really disappointed seeing that I really liked everything about this unit.
Kevin11779 –
Simple install easy to use amazing sound and at a great price
JAEcho –
Very easy, intuitive install. App controls are great and it has a very high end overall apperance. Above all it sounds awesome.
System Specs:
Pioneer headunit as a secondary source bypassing factory integrated system.
Kenwood 4 channel amp.
Focal 3-way component speakers in front. 1″ tweet, 3.5″ mid, 6.5″ woofer
Sundown Audio 3000 watt amp.
3 Massive Audio Hippo 8″ subwoofers in ported box.
Josh90 –
Honestly everything worked great just the remote wire for the amp did not work
Wade –
It has a difficult time syncing with the app on my phone. When it does connect it works fine though.
Good –
Works perfect the sound iis the best and price too
Steelers96 –
Amazing stereo!! Definitely more than I expected!!
Great –
Overall sound quality is good with plenty of control with equalizers. Cell phone holder part is pretty clunky in my opinion and sends my phone flying if not in the holder just right. Also you have to remove the faceplate to push the holder in or take it out. Not crazy about the stereo but I’ll live with it
Mikey27 –
Not bad for price iphone with ottorbox case fits on holder easy to use and navigate through phone app seems to be working perfect
ChristopherM –
LOVE THIS RADIO!!! I wanted a nice radio but didn’t want the screen but love how you can use your phone as the screen it’s an amazing radio
Jremo41 –
Good unit. Used in older car that has a single din.
Robinson –
Great radio with good features, but a bit complicated for the average user and dependent on phone app for full functionality.
TonyMaybe –
I wish there was a way to hold the volume up/down and make it adjust instead of repeatedly pushing it, other then that it’s pretty awesome
Valo –
It’s a great idea but app feature is iffy at times
Ange –
bought this for my uncle and he likes it. He wanted something for his phone to connect using apps and loves the phone holder, that holds his phone. He loves thatbit uses the navigatiom from his phone through the stereo. Has no cd player just uses your phone by blutooth.
Mato –
Best head unit I have ever had and I have owned Kenwood Excelon series with GPS that cost around $1000, but nothing has been more intuitive than this.
Chancce –
Design of unit is confusing.
RCA plugs were defective.
App was very patchy.
anthdav –
I have a single din opening in my car and wanted a radio that was capable of bluetooth calling and display google maps for travel. This fit the bill perfectly. When I don’t need the google maps, the phone holder neatly folds away and it looks like a normal radio. When I am following google maps, I pull out the phone holder and my phone connects wirelessly to give me the visual map and verbal directions over my cars speakers. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase!
MacSauce –
Great system and definitely worth the cost. Inwouldnt change anything about it
Marco –
The quality is impressive, it has a wide variety of sound styles and it is quite versatile using the app. recommended!
Aray3rd –
I like the versatility of this little unit. It packs a punch. I like using my cellphone as a touch screen with it. It was pretty easy to understand how to set things up.
MG17 –
Excelente, one of the best car stero of pioneer I recommend a lot
Bibibook –
Very simple and basic unit! Did have some trouble with the slide out arm but eventually got a hand on it.
markTX –
Not up to spec for a modern integrated IOT device – swapped for a great Boss 7″ touchscreen for the same money.
Software is bad as it it relies on OS and doesnt get updated enough – returned
BrianK –
Great receiver. Love the phone holder and the smart sync app.
VetteCrazee –
Purchased a vehicle with an outdated head unit. This solved the problem of no CarPlay. Unit works and sounds great.
RobertC –
Nice little car car radio i like the fact i can use my phone as a touch screen
Mecka –
This stereo works amazing. I really love the phone holder portion of it. It seems gimmicky but i find myself missing it when im in other vehicles.
BrianS –
Needed a fix for a classic truck and wanted modern features. This head unit does it all!
DustinB –
