Currently only have it setup running 2 ourdoor klipsch speakers . Use app to turn on and off ,switch songs in spotify, volune control. It runs flawless n sounds just aa good as the denon it replaced . Without the buggy denon s960 wifi issues .

Awesome sound from a great company. You won’t be disappointed.
NancyW –
High quality
Would like more than 3 zone capability
EdwardC –
Good AV Receiver, but beware, my box was opened and retaped, all stickers were removed, and there was dust inside the door. It was obviously a return or a display model for the price of a new receiver.

I had a 3 year old Pioneer Elite that started to turn itself off randomly and send loud cracks to the speakers. I replaced it with this Pioneer Elite LX 505. It did not want to connect properly to my 85” Sony Bravia ARC port, it took a long time to switch between devices and then constantly lost the signal to the TV. I thought it had an issue and replaced it with another – same issue ! I returned this unit again and went with a Marantz, (cinema-50-8k-ultra-hd-9-4-channel-110w-x-9-av). What a difference – much improved and stable. Slightly more $ but worth it for my set up, see picture.

Great sound effects. Easy setup and the pre outs made it future proof

The Zone 2/B doesn’t work as described in the manual. HDMI audio set to PCM will not output into Zone 2. So you can only use an analog input (if you have one!).
Zone B doesn’t output audio regardless of the input or audio signal.
Pioneer eliminated their Speaker A/B function on newer receivers. Speaker A/B outputs audio to Speaker B without exception. This is a big disappointment.
I have bought Pioneer receivers for over 10 years as the multiroom function was critical to my experience. I hope they fix these bugs.
I found nowhere on Pioneer’s website to get support, the one link I found was broken.

Great head unit. bought two more for other tvs since the one I had worked so great
BeastN –
Loud and Clear!!!! Once again a excellent product from pioneer.
SportsFanatic –
Updated my home theater. Receiver sounds great. One complaint, there’s an issuing switching to watching blu rays, sometimes no sound.
JosephS –
This is an excellent home theater receiver. I paired it with a Klipsch Dolby Atmos speaker system and the sound is incredible. Great value for the money.
Mitch –
The ease of setup was amazing. The sound is phenomenal
RobertF –
Should cost under $1000.
Sound quality is good.
Dirac live is nice
User interface is outdated.
Not being able to choose the crossover frequency for individual channels sucks!!
AngelS –
best place to buy any electronic and good item to buy any time

I replaced a 10 year old version of this receiver & could not be more pleased. I was a little concerned the power is listed about 20 watts per channel less than my old one, but obviously technology has more than taken care of that. The clarity is great & music has a much more depth of sound than my old one. Set up was also a breeze.
Kids –
This receiver is everything I wanted, and needed its very unique will buy it again
JoeH –
Very impressed with the performance and the Dirac Live calibration puts you in the movie.
BillyG –
Love the sound quality. It is so crystal clear.
AaronP –
A good receiver if you need it. I upgraded to this from an old Pioneer Elite 1080p receiver. This one isn’t much different except that it supports 4k / 8k and 9.2 channel surround. One annoying thing is that it randomly wakes up, which my old receiver didn’t do.
Saad –
It do be pimpin, big sounds, 11 speakers, diarc, HDMI 2.1 for less than $1100
LynneW –
This Pioneer AV rocks the house! But don’t expect Best Buy Tech to set it up correctly. I paid $200 to have it setup. Only to have the tech just connect wires. Sound was awful until I got on YouTube and figured out the Dirac live and WOW! now it is awesome. Sadly that was $200 I can’t get back. Wish I had more confidence I could do the setup. I put too much faith into the Best Buy tech thinking he would know how but he didn’t. He was nice enough and admitted he doesn’t setup Pioneers. He mostly knew Denon and Marantz. They don’t have Dirac live. That is the difference and wow is it awesome. Dirac live setup is time consuming but the sound…oh my. Unbelievably good.

Worth every penny..you cant go wrong with this receiver
DonW –
So far so good on this. I bought an open box version to save a few bucks but everything seems in working order. This replaced an old Pioneer from 2004 that was a workhorse but just outdated. Initial setup was easy as well as tuning individual speakers more to my liking. The 4K upscaling shows as clear as a theatre picture on my Samsung and the IMAX/Dolby digital brings a whole new level of sound separation for each sound zone in my living room and provides enough power to really make my surround speakers shine. They’re a little older but still do the job well. Haven’t used the multi-room feature yet. My only issue is that the Bluetooth seems to be really spotty even if my phone is sitting right on top of the unit. At 15 feet away it just wouldn’t even connect which seems concerning. I also had some minor issue figuring out how to get audio from the optical cable (TV) to play on the receiver and had to play with the audio feedback to make it work.
peradas –
Many sound options to choose from. Great for watching movies. Recommend it.
RobertR –
This is product is the worst system I have owned. I recently purchased this one because my last pioneer system failed. My mistake in thinking this wound not so the same. It shuts off and reboots randomly since day one. I’ve taken it in to Best Buy they sent it out for repairs and they claim nothing is wrong with the system. I want my money back or money towards upgrading to a better system.
DavidB –
Exceeded my expectations my music and surround sound are amazing !!!!!!
GilbertoG –
excellent sound and excellent equipment in general
Pioneerelite –
I didn’t regret purchasing this receiver it’s powerful sending strong signals to the speakers and it’s also let the picture on my television looks even much better because i connect though ARC
Eric –
Excellent mid-range receiver. I have it powering a 5.1.4 setup and it sounds great. It was super easy to setup and calibrate. I would take a half star away for the puny plasticy remote if I could, but not impactful enough to give the receiver 4 stars imo. The receiver is otherwise a great value especially when on sale.
Newkirk –
Nice but, the older models, LX801, LX1553, etc have better sound.
AndrewL –
Especially when on sale, the combination of full bandwidth Dirac Live and its very capable Preamp/Processor make the VSX-LX505 a great product. Its amplifiers tested poorly at a respected online site (Audioscience review), but I “preout” all channels to external amplifiers. So it has fabulous capabilities. If you rely on internal amplification, compare reviews of this and the Denon 3800/4800 for example.
Having only one true subwoofer signal is also a limitation for some people (me include), but I couldn’t pass up the VSX-LX505 for its value.
ZawM –
Good receiver. Great sound and pictures quality. Easy to setup
pactronic –
This unit is everything I need, it has all up to date movie surround formats. I had Denon and Marantz receivers before this one and I think the difference is Dirac mic setup. It sounds very dynamic.
MarkP –
This is a very good product very pleased with the sound.
Fern –
I just got this, looks really nice and modern, took me about 6 hours to connect to tv, cd, turntable, dvd and cassete player, the phono input does not work, dont work makes music sound statics or scratchy, also 1 of the speaker surround connection, seems not to work, be nice if it had a plug onto receiver,, i do like that has all these hdmi inputs, ,music sounds good and loud, also it is more on the pricey side, but over all love it, now i can listen to all these throwbacks audio, equipments
PioneereliteVSXLX505best –
I love it it has all that I want in an Avr reciever; good neat sound when I listen music & I watch a movie its like I am in a movie theater also also I have enough room for expand it for many years. The over all I am very happy I got this receiver
MichaelM –
Bought this for the HDMI 2.1 capabilities. Its easy to setup and work perfectly. Make sure you test your HDMI cables if youre having HDMI 2.1 issues.
MariaEM –
I saw many product but for me It Is The best brand.
ScottinFOCO –
Not what I hoped it would be. Had some issues & retuened it for a Denon x2800h.
GregO –
It has all the whistles and bells, but when switching channels or streaming while the videos are uploaded, the audio takes about 3 seconds delay to come on. Made replacement, still encounters same audio delay issue.
Meltdown264 –
Best receiver from Pioneer I have had yet. The features are outstanding and make my Klipsch speakers sound great!
Eric –
So far best receiver I have purchased to date good features and easy to setup, great sound love the calibration features I rate this 10 out of 10.
AlexanderR –
Excellent receiver. Can’t beat it for the money powerful enough to drive my six home speakers very user-friendly.
MarkR –
Great receiver. Have my speakers more depth of sound.
Unknown –
Sound Awesome got my best quality sound and this is the beginning need more speakers around 100 recommend
Seebs –
Replaced my VSX90 with this AVR, within 2 months the amp started generating a popping sound through one of my Atmos channels before shutting off and going into protect. Best Buy will not exchange anything after 30 days so I was forced to deal with Pioneer directly who won’t stand behind their product. I sent it to an ‘authorized service center’. The repair was there for 3 weeks and sent back. Plugged it back in and it worked for 10 minutes before it shut off again, now it won’t work at all and i have no way to fix or exchange. $1000 lesson: always buy the warranty. Onkyo owns Pioneer now so naturally the quality will be sketchy at best. I wish I had my money back
Hansen –
It would be beneficial to include a printed manual with the receiver.
PerfectPioneer –
It was delivered a week early, and in perfect condition…WOW. Installed it two days later, So far its been operating perfectly.
