Nicholas –
I love this unit I have always owned pioneer elite receivers but with the 9 channel having 7 I one room and 2 in another zone is a game changer. Airplay 2 also makes syncing music simple. The so many feature positives on this unit you can’t list them all
Stillgreat –
i am very happy with my purchase of this audio visual receiver. it was not my first choice but now i find that it was my best choice. it was more affordable with all the same features of my first choice in a 9.2 av receiver
Nikot –
Have always enjoyed the Pioneer Elite line and have been happy with this so far.
Chewywouldbesad –
Very happy. Wish I waited for the 505 but this unit works great. 9.2.2 is sweet.
BJfromVA –
Pioneer Elite is always reliable but this one seems a little pricey. Mainly purchased for the power and zones.
lamrevsev1 –
Great receiver once you work out the kinks it’s awesome. Dirac live is is a MONSTER, plenty of IO for all of your devices
awesome –
great product, good quality, will recommend it to anyone

My speakers came alive! Great sounding receiver. Set up was difficult – especially getting the 3 zones to work. No manual provided in the box. Still not sure I have tamed this beast. I replaced a 100w per channel Yamaha amplifier with an Adcom preamp tuner with this Pioneer tuner.
VictoriaMure –
For this price point best quality receiver you can buy.

I have a question in regards to next gen gaming using hdmi 2.1 specifically the xbox series x. What is the desired or most optimal setup??? Ex… Console to AVR to TV or Console to TV (directly) then TV to AVR via the eARC
edejesus –
i returned it the same week i bought it.it would not detect my xbox at times. i had to connect the hdmi cables to the tv directly, and move stuff around.its really loud but it was a headache.

I upgraded my old Pioneer Elite receiver to the new VSX-LX305 and the difference is spectacular. Sound just jumps out with clarity and depth I didn’t know my speakers could produce. Connected to my 8k Samsung TV the picture produced takes full advantage of the TV’s capability for enhanced definition. This new receiver really delivers.

After waiting for shipping to send it, it came out of the sealed box and when I plugged it in it was already on and would not turn off. Pioneer support said to do firmware upgrade and then it was just stuck on some screen in the setup menu and wouldn’t do anything or play any sounds.
Mznand –
Decent value. Only down side is that it doesn’t have RCA outputs if you want to use an external amp

The Pioneer 305 like the Onkyo 7100, which I returned, have major HDMI switching issues that need to be addressed before I can recommend either.
When switching from one HDMI function, say DVD, to another, say cable/sat, both receivers hang, go blank, go silent, turn screen white, blonk on and off or just freeze. This is a SERIOUS issue with HDMI reliability.
My system is not complicated: Sony TV, OPPO DVD played, Comcast cable box. That’s it!
I still have the Pioneer VSX LX305 and will keep it since I found a work-around that involved me disconnect my Comcast cable box from HDMI 1 and plugging it into my TVs HDMI 1 input.
For $1,300.00 I should be able to use every Pioneer/Onkyo input.
I never had this issue with my Marantz NR1710, which I have as a back-up, as it is a 7.1, 50W per channel, as opposed to my newer 9.1, 100 watt Pioneer.
Bottom lone: the Onkyo and Pioneer, both from the same parent company need a serious and IMPORTANT furmway HDMI update. Untill then, look fir another brand.
Solar –
Great sound. Have it hooked up with nothing but Polk speakers.
BruceC –
being a life time favorite of Pioneer products, pleased as allways, I’m going to get in touch with Geek sqad for some technical settings on this receiver. Still being old school I’m using my bose AM-7 Series that I purchased in 1994 which still sounds like they were bought yesterday.
MACC –
Great sounds and VideoConnect. If I had it to do over again, I would purchased the vsx- lx 505.
CharlesL –
Easy-peasy purchase and pickup. High quality AV receiver upgrading my Yamaha system. About as high quality as you can get without spending lots more.
BubbaSparks –
Just a fantastic receiver overall. Dirac Live really wowed me but you probably want to bump the bass up a bit after running the room correction. I ultimately returned the unit as I wanted to get full 11 Chanel pre-outs and Auro 3D. But it was a hard choice to return this given the great quality of sound after Dirac Live ran. I’m a big fan of Pioneer receivers.
Luke –
Awesome receiver. Everything that I needed/wanted
Jeremy –
This was my very first receiver to buy as i usually stuck with soundbars and i gotta say this machine blew my mind when i turned this baby on and thought oh no more soundbars for me. Easy to use Im still in Process of figuring out my sound out points so im testing all types of movies that have lot of action
SevS –
I’m using this with my Sony OLED 83 inch TV. Works great with the TV and speakers I purchased.
DamonY –
First time jumping to a 9 channel system and worth every penny
The sound is so clear and precise
This system is amazing
Los1234 –
It works as described, nothing out of the ordinary. 2 reasons I returned, no room for growth and the 2.1 HDMI port would randomly lose single with Apple 4k and PS 5
RyanM –
This is perfect for current technology as well as prepares you for the future. This will last you many years to come with amazing sound and TV interface/pass through.
GoodAnswer –
IYKYK Dirac is incredible and is included on the unit. I’m using it in a 5.1.4 configuration and love it. There’s not much to say, this used to be 200 cheaper MSRP but jumped up in 2022 which is a bunmer
GREAT –
This receiver really did sound pretty good but it wasn’t the easiest to use nor user friendly!!! Also the volume control is in decibels which is very wierd and unwanted……was an absolute deal breaker for me because I need to be able to se the volume in numbers so I returned it literally within hours after best buy set it up!!!
TVMount –
Unfortunately we had to get a new Pioneer Elite Receiver because the one we purchased just months ago was defective in some way. We returned it and got the same one due to the defect and the new one works great.
Zaxdad –
Great sound. Dirac Live is a game changer with a steep learning curve if you use the computer program. I’m hoping the lack of pre-outs isn’t an issue later on if I decide to change speakers. A great value to get into Dirac.
Maintrain –
Great receiver. Sound quality is excellent. Cheapest way to get 5.1.4 Atmos with 4k120fps.
Fishkat1 –
This receiver offers a 9.2 speaker dedicated channel in an ATMOS system that is dynamic and gives a better surround experience in its IMAX effects providing an awesome experience in the 4k/8k format.
SpugYeti –
I’ve enjoyed this reveiver aince I acquired it a month ago. The amp sufficiently powers my modest 5.1 setup (Klipsch Quintet III, 12’ Klipsch sub) and Dirac did a great job setting the foundation for my room’s calibration. I did have issues with dirac complaining about the sub level being too loud (without explicitly telling me the sub was the target), but lowered it in the app, completes dirac setup, then turned the sub back to a reasonable level (it set it way too low).
Zach –
I’ve only had this receiver for about a week and it is working Great so far with my 83” LG G2.
ProTF –
Great receiver yet powerful I get the best sound with definitive technology speaker system
Buju –
Money well spent, the pioneer elite is an elegant peace of equipment. The different modes you can choose are awesome. Nothing can beat the Pioneer Elite…. Some much power.
BMFD –
Excellent sound. Very balanced and the MCACC worked perfectly.
Nocky –
This reciver simplified all our TV & media connections in one central location. It helped us get rid of all cable box , go to Roku & connect 8 sets of speakers through out the house.
Jpbettencourt164 –
Have been unabe to get the OSD to display on my LG CX. Tried everything. Called customer service twice. Love the sound but interface impossible.
Fred –
Excellent, I got first the vsx 935 and returned since the back surround channel was almost dead; so, I got this one and wow. After the calibration using the included Dirac live the sound is even better!!
100% recommend
Awesome –
An amazing audio and video receiver with all the latest technology that you need. Ease of operation of the Pioneer Elite unit in support of TV, tuner, Blue Rey CD/DVD, Bluetooth, Vinyl record turntable, or any accessory is superb.
Elcojo –
This is the receiver to get ,this is one of the monsters of monster in another word. Very powerful!! I love it……
user587524 –
I recently splurged on a FULL Dolby Atmos speaker system, consisting of 4 surrounds, 1 center, and 2 subs. I bought a Denon from a local store on sale and hooked it up. But, the Atmos speakers were dead. Upon a search, I discovered that the 4 surround speaker needed 2 channels each to run both the surround and the attached Atmos speakers on top. So, I found this which cost a little more than a comparable Onkyo (they are made by the same company). I splurged for the Pioneer Elite, which I am very happy with for price. It had better details overall. I’m sure it will go down in price as tech moves forward, but for now if you want FULL Dobly Atmos, this works well.
JohnP –
Easy install and easy user operations. Love the 9 channels
user353949 –
Receiver has great sound. It was a bit confusing for less tech savvy folks to set up since we are not using it for surround sound but for the 3 separate zones. A family member that is more tech savvy had no problems setting it up for us.
CatalinaQ –
Awesome amp receiver
Easy setup
great sound setup
DRINC –
The vsx 305 is excellent!! In fact I didnt even notice a huge difference in volume compared to the vsx 505. Setup is super easy and unless you plan to use more than 1 additional pre amp this is a great value. Clean crisp sound with more base output than comparable brands. I LOVE IT!! I am using it to power def tec bp 9080 and no pre amp is needed plus 4 subwoofers, atmos speakers and another set of towers on the B channel in another area of my home. The pioneer apps allow your ohine to control every aspect from setup to input changes to volume and equilization.

Read many reviews before ultimately purchasing this model. It met all of my home theatre needs.
Rick –
I had a 10 year old Pioneer Receiver that went out on me. So I upgraded to this one thinking it would sound exactly like my old receiver. Once installed, The sound was amazing, even with the same surround speakers I already had. I noticed much better sound and noticed things in movies I couldn’t normally hear. A great receiver, I would definitely recommend.
Lion –
Great sounding receiver. Bought this one after the denon we bought didn’t work. Glad we die.
