    Just installed this over the weekend and everything went fine. I love the stereo and the way it fits in my 2017 Highlander, but Siri is not working reliably with CarPlay. She seems to be getting confused as if she’s listening to herself speak. I can’t send text messages using Siri, for example. My wife and my iPhones are on the latest 17.2 iOS and the head unit has the latest firmware 1.55. I’ve seen others report online about similar issues with CarPlay and Pioneer stereos or stock head units in other vehicles but this is unacceptable. I’m not seeing too many reports with this particular unit, so wondering if I just got a bad unit and should exchange it. Very disappointed so far as my iPhone works perfectly with Siri and CarPlay in my stock Audi Q5.

    Purchased the unit to replace old Alpine unit and to have wireless Apple CarPlay. The reviews all seemed to be really good. The installation was easy. I used the Maestro RR and purchased a couple additional cables to make the installation all plug and play. Really this is the best I can say about this unit. Once it was installed, the firmware update with CarAVAssist did not work. Followed the directions exactly and the update would never transfer. It timed out every time. So I updated the firmware using the USB port and that worked. Now the really disappointing part. Wireless Apple CarPlay rarely works. I either have to go into settings every time and turn it on or turn off the unit and turn it back on to get it to connect. Today none of the wireless options were available. The Apple CarPlay option was greyed out and the Wireless option in settings was greyed out. If the wireless Apple CarPlay does actually load, not all of the apps work correctly. For example, IHeart Radio will load one station, but it will not allow you to change stations. Another issue, the volume control while using Apple CarPlay does not always work. At first, I thought maybe it was just the steering wheel control that was not working so I tried the volume control on the touch screen and that does not work either. The volume control bar does pop up on the screen, but it is greyed out. The guidance volume control does work. There are many more issues with this system. So many, I am not sure I even want to bother contacting Pioneer support and just return the unit. My price range was to spend only 500 – 600 dollars. I am afraid to spend 1100 on the next model up, so I will probably just try a Kenwood and hope for a better result.

    I bought this and other equipment to be installed by Best Buy Geek Squad. After appointment after appointment being cancelled due to lack of installers, I am still waiting for Best Buy to arrange installation. If no one is able to install auto audio why does Best Buy continue to offer and schedule these service. Customer service was also short and rude when I called in for assistance. Beware of these issues before you buy.

    I like this unit. Some things about the UI I would have done differently, but all is easy to use. I use the Aluratek CarPlay adaptor with the USB cable in the glove box.

    I love this radio. Everything works flawlessly, and the installation by Geek Squad is the way to go! Connecting this radio will give you a very noticeable instant boost in your sound quality no matter what speaker system you have. My Jeep Wrangler was all stock and it sounds so much better now than with the OEM radio. The phone connection sounds great on both ends. Keep in mind the mount does stick out from your dash. I would highly recommend this product.

    Screen is big and not too bad but the sound is insane. It makes my standard sound system sound insane. Also UI is really bad tho but I just use carplay wireless which connects pretty fast when it doesn’t glitch out sometimes.

    Excellent product that is easy to use and provides a real step up in sound quality. Wireless Android Auto is also great although it might take 1-2 minutes for it to connect some of the time.

    Bought a open box unit. It literally arrived with the box open. It supposed to be with all the parts inside, but there were missing parts. Luckily I didn’t need those missing parts to install it. It looked fancy and the sound was really good, but after connecting it with android for about 20 minutes, it loses connection. I don’t think its a common problem on this model, but my unit specifically. Luckily it is still returnable. I’ll come back to my old pioneer unit for a while.

    Worked the first time I used after install, I updated the firmware to 1.55 (huge pain by the way), then the sound would not work! I figured out if I turned the key to power the unit on but not turn the engine on, let it connect and play sound prior to turning the engine on, the sound then continues to work even after you turn the engine on. Huge pain to not just be able to turn your engine on and go. This was for a 2010 Toyota Sequioa

    This was a huge upgrade from my factory stereo in my 2016 Nissan Frontier. The sound quality is so much better and the Apple Carplay is a very big plus for me. The stereo also notifies me if a have a door ajar or if my tire pressures are low. No more pulling out my phone either for navigation as everything shows on the 9″ display. I was also able to perfectly match the color of the touch controls with my interior lights. This head unit is well worth the money.
