    Works as intended! My last blu ray player lasted only 6 months, so I decided to spend some money and get this one which as 4K capability, so far I am satisfied.

    Good unit, but less intuitive (or simply more frustrating) remote control functionality than a Sony player. In particular, there is no button for simply toggling closed captioning on/off, rather, you are forced to navigate menus and then back out/exit each time. On a Sony, it’s a simple “on/off” toggle. Similarly, simply showing status (such as elapsed time) is multiple clicks versus simple “on/off” approach in Sony’s design.

    On the plus side, quality of picture and playing of discs is very good.

    I got this primarily to play 3D movies. The player was relatively simple to connect to my current TV and stereo system. I have not tried all the functions of the player yet but what I have used works correctly. The user manual does need to be downloaded. The instructions were not the most user friendly, but I was able to find what I needed to make the 3D movies work.

    I am very happy with this player and playing 4k discs with great picture and sound quality. What I am not happy about is that I cannot get the unit to stream Netflix in 4k, only 1080p. I have tried changing settings, resetting the unit, even contacted Panasonic, all with no luck. I hooked up my other 4k player from competitor brand and that unit streams 4k just fine using the exact same HDMI cable and inputs so it’s definetly the player.

    I am a long time BB customer and decided to buy an Open Box version of this that Best Buy claimed was excellent condition and this review is about this Open Box version. Received today box looks like someone left it in the rain and was taped everywhere with Best Buy labelled tape and this box was in a normal cardboard box that had no damage.. Opened it up and Player was in nearly as bad of shape. Dents in the side scratches along the front and top and full of dust, like someone had used it for several years then decided to trade in. Then I plugged it in and the tray would not open. When I took off the top, the whole drive assembly was detached/broken from the case like someone took it apart then forced it back into place to try and get it to fit or the dent in the side was they dropped it and it cracked the drive assembly off. I was able to place it correctly by hand and the tray now opens and closes but I haven’t permanently attached it cause the plastic is broken where it screwed in. On a positive note now that the tray opens/closes, so far it has recognized every DVD, BluRay and 4K disc I put in, including burned BluRays and DVDs. So the player seems fine now that I have made fixes. But is no way excellent condition like BB claimed.

    I very seldom watch TV programs. However, I am addicted to watching movies, especially from the 40s, 50s, etc. Not so much the movies from the last 10 – 20 years. So. the movies I have, which is quite a collection, some on DVDs and most recently Blu-Ray. This one player allows me to watch both formats. Very, very pleased with it.

    I needed a new Blu-ray player so I could start building up my 4K collection. This player has all the new bells and whistles, Upscaling for older DVD’s. Supports Dolby Atmos etc. It hooked up easily and plays fantastic. All the reviews on multiple sits and feedback from AudioVideo forums named this one a winner.

    Reliable stand alone 4k Blu Ray player. Plays much better than my Xbox did. No Dolby Vision but shouldn’t be a problem if your TV doesn’t support it.

    What’s the nice surprise??? Was open box model and it came with a free copy of Gran Turismo haha.

    Better reproduction of our legacy DVD and BluRay discs, as advertised. Reasonably convenient to set up. Have not yet discovered how to access the disc menu, but I just need to RTFM.

    Great player with The BEST picture quality ever but….

    User interface is a bit cumbersome for those who like to customize their experience.

    Build quality is minimal for the price point, makes the player a little noisy.

    Panasonic has disabled the NTSC~PAL video converter for Region A & 1 units which made mine USELESS for my needs. Very RUDE. I have many Region 0 PAL DVDs in my collection.

    WE NEED AN ALL REGION OPTION PLAYER AND PANASONIC REFUSES TO MEET THIS NEED.

    I am therefore NOT IMPRESSED.

    No issues with the disc player so far. It handles 4K UHD discs easily and smoothly on my LG 4K UHD display. No issues displaying the disc image.

    This thing doesn’t work 50% of the time. It either gets stuck on “Now reading…” when you put a DVD in or it says “copyright violation” on discs bought through retailers…
