  1. DouginDallas

So far, everything is looking and sounding great on this top of the line UHD player. The menus were easy and straightforward, and picture and sound are as great as expected. Its build is quite solid, operation quiet; love the backlit remote control and rare front display. Pricey even on sale, but hoping it will last a very long time. Value is 4.5, but there was no option for half stars. No hesitation in recommending this.

  2. AVgearhead1

This is the best 4K blue ray player I have owned. It’s built like a tank, has great picture & sound & is region free. Highly recommended.

  3. LawrenceM

Best 4K Blu Ray on the market. If you use physical media, don’t look at any other player, period.

  4. EliasA

The best purchase you can make if you are longing for a 4K movie player that can showcase the picture quality and details of your favorite movies missed throughout these years till now. That’s what Dolby Vision will do for you.

  5. Bitwize

This is an exceptional player in both build quality and performance. It replaced my 3 year old LG UBK90. The UB9000 revived my love for physical media. A noticeable upgrade over 4K streaming content. The video and sound quality are second to none with my LG OLED and Pioneer Elite A/V receiver. Definitely expensive but worth it if you are a videophile and/or audiophile.

  6. Nacho

My previous Sony 4k player can not compete with this Panasonic device.
It was quick and easy to set up this quality built machine. It may cost more but its visual appeal, heavy duty construction, and its ability to reveal hidden images in a 4k movie (that were never seen before) are remarkable! It responds quickly to all commands from its remote control, and let us not forget that the remote control lights up in the dark.

  7. Calin

I had this player only for one month. I chose it because I needed one with analog out for sound ,4 channels I use preamps and power amps. My oppo 203 has problems with some 4K discs. I like the fact that I can lower the sound volume and still hear the dialogs, oppo lacks this feature. Set up is straightforward although you have to read what you are doing and test what you like. Better colors , plays my cds reasonable well, using RCA outlets no difference compared to Oppo 203 however it doesn’t play my sacds . Panasonic stated that wasn’t enough room for playing sacds. If they would have increased the height this player would not fit between my tv set and my stand. This would be something that I wouldn’t like. Is well packed but the box looks like traveled a lot or stayed on a shelf for long period of time. I might be subjective because Oppo and Pioneer are out of this business, universal players with analog out channels Panasonic was my only option.
    It matches my expectations.

Item is glitchy; there are both 4K and blu-ray discs that freeze. I reached out to Panasonic since this machine is still under warranty. I was told I had to pay out of pocket to send the player back to them. To begin with, a $1,000 plus machine should not be glitchy. Second, for a $1,000 plus machine, I should not be made to pay anything to send it back for fixing. Panasonic just lost a customer. I do not recommend this machine at all.

  9. howp

this is the best 4k player on the market hands down picture and sound quality are excellent 2 thumbs up

  10. RBHoward

Recently purchased from Best Buy the Samsung – 65” Class QN900B Neo QLED 8K Smart Tizen TV, connected to the then flagship Samsung 4K UBD-M9700 which is no slouch with 4K P.Q. & sound. Decided since upgrading the TV should probably upgrade the player too.
The Panasonic DP-UB9000P1K was a perfect match for the 8K TV, picture quality shockingly improved, the next big surprise was the bitstream THX surround mated my THX Pre-Pro produced stunning 7.1 surround, that revealed enveloping realistic sounds I never heard before coming from the speakers, clearer center channel dialogue, surround effects, and subs produced greater depth and low-end space.
The player also does a magnificent job on standard 1080p Blu-Ray discs.
This player truly a flagship player, and IMO worth every penny.
My biggest problem is, now I need to rediscover my entire video library.

As for Best Buy: shipping needs to be greatly improved as the box was not double boxed which is needed to protect the original box from being dented, scuffed and most of all to keep anyone from knowing there is a very expensive player inside.

  11. MovieMonster

Fantastic machine . Excellent picture. Up scaled blu-rays look like 4K.

  12. MatthewF

Be very wary of purchasing this item, as the warranty is very brief, and the quality of parts is shoddy. Be prepared to spend big $$$$$ to get it repaired.

I ordered this item in October of 2022. I was more or less quite pleased with it, and felt that while it was remarkably expensive, the quality was quite good for audio and visuals on a 77 inch OLED TV with a high end soundsystem.

However, after about 5 and a half months, the disc tray stopped ejecting discs. Given that this is the most essential function of any disc player, I was really disappointed in the quality of parts. For a top of the line blu ray player, one can fairly expect the basic functions to work. Not the case here.

The fact is, manufacturers know how long their products hold up for, and they address the product warranty based on that knowledge. There is a 3 month labor warranty, and 6 month parts warranty. That’s laughable for a product of this price. But it goes to show the quality you’ll get for the price.

Fortunately, I was within the parts warranty by a matter of days. I had to ship the blu ray player back to Panasonic at a cost of $95 dollars with the proper insurance through UPS. They did turn it around quickly, in about a week after they received it. And boy am I glad I was within the parts warranty…because the cost of the two parts that needed replacing? $407 for a new “BD Drive” and a new “PC Board, Digital.”

The cost for labor to repair this was $90. Plus the shipping, it cost me $185 to repair this after less than 6 months of use. I can’t in good conscience recommend this disc player given the experience, and the brief warranty. When working, it does a good job. But is it reliable? No. And is it worth the price? Definitely not.

There is a reason Panasonic was once a major player in the North American electronics market, but no longer. Stay away if you value quality, reliability, and value.

  13. JoeG

I haven’t really gotten a chance to use this Blu-ray Player yet, waiting to receive my LG G3 OLED evo 77″ TV. Can’t wait, I think it’s going to be a perfect match 🙂

  14. MotoMark2022

Everything you need in a Blu-ray player! Panasonic 9000 😉

  15. Cdman

This is a very awesome 4k player i been looking at it for a long time i finally got one and im loving it i would recommend this to all of my friends and family

  16. HawaiiBoy

Great product. High-Quality picture. I love it. The remote is very easy to use.

  17. Jeeper

Absolutely amazing period. Sounds great and is solid ,not a cheep plastic player.

  18. Westly

This is a well built player with the best picture quality I’ve seen for BD and 4K disks. It really excels at HDR and Dolby vision, I don’t think there is another player that can produce as good a picture. I’ve had zero issues with it perfectly playing every disc I throw at it and has never locked up or glitched like all my other bran players have occasionally. My OLED Sony is just amazing with this player, and the improvement on even my 2015 85” Samsung was surprising, specially on HDR movies. With the older Samsung I disabled HDR on my Apple TV as it was always too dark and made the picture much worse then with it off, but with this player HDR looks amazing. The settings allow the scale to be set by tV type and it makes all the difference. I do wish it was an all format player, but I’ll keep my Sony ES 4K player for the un-supported formats, the quality upgrade is worth buying this Panasonic.

  19. JasonL

This is a stellar player. Outside of oppo, it cant be topped

  20. PureGold

The player appears to have excellent build quality. Quality of playback of DVDs (I don’t own any BluRay discs yet) is excellent with excellent color and no motion effects.

  21. Moviebum

An awesone player. I recommend this to anyone who is a movie buff, worth the money. Can’t wait to see both Avatars on this player.

  22. edejesus

very well built, very high quality 4k player.has multiple sound options, different picture options as well. very much worth the price.

  23. TommyM

Dont look at the price and say no , You definitely get what you pay for . I have no regrets on purchasing this 4K Blu-ray. Only suggestion id make is getting a high end 4K OLED or 8K QLED if you want to get the most out of your Blu-ray with HDR10+ Atmos Dolby . This will not disappoint anyone that comes to your home for movie night .

  24. Ethantaj

One year in and some minor gliches. Lost sound and pixel video on a cluple of 4k movies. Otherwise a great player.

  25. appleisgreat

Awesome player great picture and sound was buying digital copies but the sound wasn’t that loud so I decided to go back to hard copies wow what a difference

  26. Audiolistener

Material are well built and all features and hardware connections are more than average home theater would needed. The image is detailed and vividly… and more…

  27. ScottL

If you have a flagship TV from any manufacturer like Sony, Samsung, and LG just to name a few you need this player. It pulls out all the details and audio that you dont get when you buy a cheap blue ray player. I’m a big movie watcher and I notice the big differences when using this player. Would super recommend and i would say you pay for what you get and this is worth the money.

  28. Great

Very impressed with the quality of this 4k player..picture and sound…the best for now an the market..thank you Panasonic for a great product..

  29. LegoBuilder

stay away from panasonic. horrible warranty. this player failed less than a year with barely any use. they expect you to pay shipping for repair when this is already a $1100 player WOW while still under warranty. never again will i buy anything panasonic.

  30. JerryC

Excellent product no complaints. I really recommend it and very satisfied thank Best Buy

  31. Robb

Build quality is outstanding! Couldn’t be happier with this purchase. As always, Best Buy offers extended warranties – just in case. Pickup at the store was simple and fast. I like to buy all of my electronics at Best Buy!

  32. Landonkcmo

Unmatched audio & video quality! If you care about every last detail and using the full potential of your hardware you need this

  33. RandyCEO

I feel like many people praise this thing for no reason. They spent so much money and feel compelled to say good things about it. I have both the $1K blue-ray player and the $400 DP-UB820-K version. These are two similar players. The expensive version has a better build quality and a nicer remote, but that’s about it. However, I’ve had many problems with the expensive blue-ray player compared to its $400 counterpart. The 820-k is much more reliable. Save your money and go with the $400 version; it’s better.!!!

  34. JAYMAN

This PANASONIC DP UB9000 4k player theres a reason why its expensive, it really enhances the colors and my sound was already good With a Denon AVR X4500h from BESTBUY, but now it sounds even better. I have a different 4K player and its picture does not look anything like this one. If your into home theater you have try this 4K player.

  35. RichardB

I upgraded from the Sony UDB-700. The picture on the Panasonic UB9000 is incredible. Detail, amazing color. The audio is clear and dynamic. I really love this UB9000.

    LG 77″ G1
    Denon AVR-X6700H
    Klipsh Corner Horns KBWO-17
    KLlipsh Center LaBelle-Klipsch
    Klipsh Surround sound 9.1 system

  36. DroneFAN1973

Great picture and audio quality. Dethrones my old reference blu-ray player easily. I really didn’t expect this to be so apparent, but both the audio and video quality were way better. The remote and the screen interface on the machine are kind of average, but the overall performance makes up for these short comings.

  37. BuyGuy45

As a 4k UHD player, this is a spectacular machine. Excellent build quality, and it has SO many features to make sure you’re seeing the best 4k picture possible. Lobe that it has both Dolby Vision and HDR10+ (if any studio actually starts using it).

Blu-ray playback is good, and DVD works fine, but you can get better picture quality from older players. The 9000 introduces some picture “enhancement” that sometimes makes non-UHD content look less than perfect. Minor complaint is that there’s no zoom feature for really old non-anamorphic DVDs, so you can’t scale them up to full your screen. But seriously, at this point, almost nobody has many of those in their collections.

Really happy with the player so far. It feels way more sturdy than Panasonic’s next step down (the 820), even though the features are nearly identical outside of build quality and audio connections.

  38. LS2022

I upgraded from the DP-UB820-K, and It was definitely worth the price! Love the solid construction, and my 4K discs don’t freeze up.

  39. Anthony

I have had my Oppo 203 for a long time but since that product is no longer supported the newer 4k discs that have come out the playback is not smooth anymore. Usually just has a hiccup sometimes in the middle of the movie. This player has solved this for me and is an incredible player. Only thing i would add is a original resolution playback and an option to turn off auto playback when the disc when its inserted. Other than that its a incredible player.

  40. Spectacular

I was kinda skeptical about the price of this player and the level of performance it would give but I’m super happy that I pulled the trigger and made the purchase. This got to be one of the best 4K players in the world. I’m very happy for not just the video enhancements it gives but also for the audio experience it provides. This player is definitely on another level in comparison to other brands. You will not go wrong investing in this high end component. Highly Recommend 10/10!!

  41. RobertR

Great player was more tha expected. Very good sound and picture. Brings a regular dvd picture and sound out like a theater with jbl sound bar. 4K and Blu-ray just WOW. Little pricey but, worth it if your into movies.

  42. Brian

Totally useless without having (AB) Repeat, Zoom or Slow Motion. Before anyone says I’m wrong and that it does have Slow Motion go read the owners manual. For Slow Motion it states “MKV, MP4 and MPEG2: Not Effective”. This unit is way over priced for not having these basic playback features that we use a lot. We were going to get this to upgrade from our old OPPO, but what would be the point, this is a downgrade from the OPPO.

  43. Halfrican

Great picture and sound, high-end build quality. Pricey but worth it IMHO. All the less expensive players I’ve looked at are built like toys in comparison. Best Buy delivered quickly, however i wish it had been double boxed considering the value of the player.

  44. 661chilihead

I absolutely love this 4k player it definitely made a huge difference with picture and sound quality for sure, very noticeable!!!! I had a sony 4k player that this replaced and man it outshines that player, definitely keeping this for the long haul!!!!

  45. GaryA

A purely professional media player! Beautifully constructed and finished piece of equipment!

  46. Andres

One of the best or the best DVD player out there just the post sales service is really bad and it is through a third party

  47. Spiderman

Best blu ray player and good and good quality and picture and sound and design

  48. Eddie

The Panasonic 4K US9000 Short Throw is an amazing projector. One of the best things about the short throw is there is no walk-thru shadows along with it’s spectacular 4K clearness. If you want to see and hear great movies, this short throw is the ONE.

  49. TedD

It really brings the best out of your (s95b) samsung tv’s. Oled and Qleds. Plus a (Chocolate) Audioquest cable. A movie may need a tweak here or there ( depends on your preference) with a tv function. For the most part, worth the money.

  50. Shakem11

This would not play 4k movies without the paint blur on the screen. I returned it the very next day. I’ve read mostly good things about this bluray but my experince was not good, however my rep said he’s never heard of that before. So before arrive in town I’ll go ahead order another one and have them set it up because i have an audiophile system at home thats not easy for beginners like myself. I will not recommend at this time
