ChuckU –
purchased to replace a previous Ooma box(non WIFi) that stopped working. Since this was a replacement, I did not need to do the instructions indicated on the manual. I just called the Ooma support number, they asked my what the activation code was on the new box. Then they made the needed changes on their side. I did not have to do anything other than jack the Ooma Box into my Router. They told me that I would need a smart phone to setup the Ooma to Router Wi Fi connection. I do not own a smart phone, so I just used an ethernet cord from the Ooma box to the router. Since I could not try out the WIFi connection, I only rated a 4.

I bought this for my sister in Nebraska. It works good most of the time but occasionally calls get dropped.
Tatermom –
So far I love this. Just need a regular phone to attach.

So far so good, not getting a lot of use as it’s mostly a backup type phone. I’m in a 3 story townhouse and want to know I can always reach a phone in an emergency regardless of where my cell phone might be or its level of charge. I bought a set of 3 cordless phones to go with it.
I think I had some minor issues setting it up and might have even had to call Customer Support or go googling, but overall, the problems were minor enough that I don’t remember the details just a couple of weeks later (besides being old, I just moved and have a LOT going on, but I definitely remember things that are a big hassle).
I do remember that every time I unplugged it to try it in a different location, it had to go through a resetting process (flashing light) before being ready for use again.
The normal light is blue and I think it is too bright so I put darkening plastic film over it.
If ooma servicing, billing, etc., turns out to be as good as this product, this is a way cheaper alternative than getting a phone through my internet provider.
Bullmarket –
So easy to make the switch to Ooma. Loving the new phone set up and functions.
GastonGrandma –
Works great on my DSL network but not on my AT&T cellular hotspot (think it’s a fault with AT&T). Also, it did not work on the 5G wireless but works fine on 2G.
OomaWireless –
Bought yesterday, Telo Air 2 wireless, the wireless did not work, tried 10 hours with 3 tech supports on phone. No use. Ooma could not figure what the problem was. They are sending a replacement unit. We do not know if it resolves the problem. Hope it does, keeping fingers crossed. Will update later.
Larry –
Unit performs well as expected. Easy to setup and use.
Susan –
Wifi setup was frustrating and required about 2 hours on my cell with customer service in the Philippines. I’m still unable to move the Telo or bump into the table without it resetting and turning itself off. Trying to resolve this with Ooma customer service now, and again it is not going well. Still, I like the concept…

The Ooma Telo Air 2 was very easy to set up. The WiFi connection to the internet gave us lots of flexibility in where to place the unit. No phone cords required to use it! Excellent instructions on how to port my phone number from AT&T to Ooma. Plugged in my existing handset to be able to answer incoming calls when I want to. But can also answer calls and check voice mail on my cell phone. How convient! Best of all I dropped my monthly land line cost from $44/mo to $5/mo!

A great product. This is my second one. Last one lasted a long time before burning out. The basic service is all you need.
radgrapes –
Ditched our cable, but wanted to keep home phone for a number of reasons. Bought Ooma & paid for home phone number to be ported over from our cable provider. Now we have what is basically free home phone service.
2ndOoma –
This product is working well. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that we had an old Ooma and needed to transfer our number over to the new Ooma and that proved challenging and required several contacts with Ooma online to get it worked out.
KEVIN –
Excellent product, works really well, no more landline
Rafael777 –
This works pretty well and much less expensive phone service. It disconnects from the wifi connection a couple times a month, but seems to reconnect within a few minutes.
Bruce –
Easy to setup and does everything as advertised. Excellent sound quality.
Markus –
It’s Fast, it’s Portable no it is not Super Man it’s “Sandisk” just buy one already and stop contemplating!
Dancer –
So far this product is excellent. Ooma customer service is great too. Very happy with the call quality and ease of use.
Mike –
Works perfectly as advertised. We use just the basic service because we only wanted an inexpensive place to port our old home phone number. Ooma has a premium service for a fee, but we opted for the free basic. Reception is great, port was completed more quickly than expected.
XiaoH –
Just installed it and found out that my monthly bill is less then $10 a month which is only taxes. There basic service which is only making calls nationwide is $0. Easy to obtain a number and activation is simple. This also has Wi-Fi so that I don’t need to use a Ethernet wire.
user110103 –
Does the job at a low price–unlimited call for just the tax per month. Hard to beat!
Simon –
I bought an Ooma Telo from Best Buy in Framingham and the activation code was rejected. Maybe they sold me a returned/stolen one – who knows? Wasted 30 mins on hold to find this out. Was told by Ooma customer service to return it.
Jerseygirl –
Purchased this back in March 2021. After a year of trying to get this to work myself finally successful. Between work and caring for an elderly parent it took my internet company to find my problem.
Tone213 –
So far it works great. Hook up your own phone system you used on your home
Phone. Call to transfer your old number and that’s it.
scrap –
I have had this ooma phone base for awhile, and the sound quality is amazing.Great value and much cheaper than a landline phone.
user825949 –
Reason for giving it a 2 Star is that each time there is a power or wifi interuption it takes a long time, almost an hour, for the device to reboot. Otherwise am satisfy with the overall serice on Ooma specially its customer support group. I hope Ooma will work on improving its devices.
PatriciaC –
So far I have had to call Ooma several times with problems. It works & then it doesnt, which would be a problem if calling 911 & it doesnt work.. The people I am calling are saying my voice cuts out every few words. It sounds more like the example on web sight of the competitors voice. We bought the more expensive wireless Ooma & am not happy so far. Thinking of returning it. Glad I didnt port my other number from cable company yet & pay $40. If problems arent resolved, then I wouldnt recommend Ooma especially for the money it cost. Premise is good with monthly paying $6 for taxes only if it worked as reviews said when researching Ooma vs. Magic Jack. As of now I would not recommend this Ooma. If Ooma resolves issues before my time runs out to return, I will amend my review.
RobertB –
The unit itself is high quality, as is the call quality. I mark it down in value because the actual monthly cost is far higher than the estimator on their website that I used prior to purchasing. I know its mostly government fees, but over $16/mo for the most basic service just isn’t worth it. I only us this line for junk calls, so probably getting rid of it altogether soon.
JohnP –
I had to go buy a new switch to hard wire it in to keep it it online. I bought a telo air 2 to replace my old one who worked perfectly. The new ONE JUNK. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OOMA.
Beatric –
System works fine for some calls. I get a lot of static on the phone line at times BUT I am doing the basic plan. Supposedly I have premium but it appears to not help.
user273127 –
This is very difficult to set up.
OOMA support provides no help.
You have to make several levels of computer assisted menu selects only to be disconnected in the end.
DavidA –
The Ooma device is easy to set up and the voice quality is excellent.
user440148 –
I’m very happy with this product. It’s very easy to set-up and use.
Unknown –
Great equipment my bill now is only 8 dollars and calls are nice and clear.
XQCLady –
Plug this into the cable modem and plug a land line phone into this. You will only pay for government regulator fees. No cost for the phone at all.
aslep –
Great tool! Easy to set up! Clarity is good, sound good!
Qkslvr –
Replaced our previous comcast phone service with ooma. Easy to setup and works very well with our high speed internet. Voice mail and caller ID included. Taxes are less than $10 month with great quality. Number portability is an option
HomeOwner37416 –
The 1st one lasted 10 years; who could ask for more
Kingboss –
Works great I’m happy with I so paying more with my old account
StephenH –
Ease of setup and activation unparalleled. Competitive pricing. Voice quality excellent. Essential features are without fee except taxes. Additional features are worth the extra tariff. All in all worth the purchase.
ArunA –
My old ooma basic device died and i moved to this one. Meets all my requirements. Calls are clear. Perfect for those who need a home number.
Pookie –
Works wonderfully. I had no problems putting it together
PamB –
I love this Ooma. My first one had to be plugged into my router. This one is wireless. I love it!
Insignia3PortHDMI –
Easy set up …. Clear sound (no static) … used existing wireless base unit and home phones (5)
SEMNBB –
Even with the additional features, our landline cost fell 70%. No regrets. Never going back. We receive answering machine messages immediately on our mobile phones.
Arby –
Works well. Clear audio, no delay. Set up was okay.
KevinR –
We love this product, we have had no problems with it since we got it. The phone quality is excellent, and it is a lot cheaper than what we have before. it really helps, when we can’t rely on cell service All the time.
MikeV –
Works like a charm & you only have to pay local taxes.
Rickdawg –
Ditched our land line for this. As an added bonus you can select a new number if you don’t wanna port your exsisting (gets rid of lots of spam calls) and you can select a different area code if desired. If you go with no features it’s dirt cheap (taxes only) ours is under 10 a month now. You must have a good internet connection ethernet is preferred connection.
whiterabbit –
This device is easy to install. I ported my existing phone number over and it only took 7 days. They assign a phone number you can use until your original number becomes available. Voice quality very good and blocks all unwanted calls.
