I bought this lens for my wife , she told me she like it .
Erik –
Awesome prime lens. This was the first one i bought and it works great for portraits.
Sonofdraven29 –
Absolutely incredible. The f/1.4 produces stunning images. Extremely happy with quality of build, noise level of motor, and overall value of lens.
Robby –
Don’t leave home without it. Great low light lens with my D850.
MonkeyDLuffy –
Great lens for portrait and street photography! Love the lens, and definitely a must buy if you’re a Nikon enthusiast who shoots portraits.
Shun –
Bokeh background are beautiful clean and crispy !!
David –
This is the first standard lens I’ve purchased. It produces very, very good pics. I’m still learning it’s capability but know enough to recommend it. If useful, I use it with my Nikon D-5000.
WhatUpRell –
It’s good lens but I’ll be honest even if you’re working low light there’s not a big enough difference in photos for the price difference between the 1.8 and 1.4
Techtoys –
Very nice for portraits photo, always love Nikon lens.
Foodandstuff –
Nice camera lens. Very good in low light . No complaints here.
Bartu –
Cheap ultimate portrait mode and good for night pictures

I’m a portrait and product photographer and I absolutely LOVE this lens. I’d previously been shooting with a nice zoom lens, but this one is so much nicer. I shot in low light the other day for an infant photography session at home and the photos turned out spectacular. It really is worth the extra money to get the f/1.4 over the f/1.8!

Did not work properly. Could not get any assistance to figure out why
Cwilbor –
Great lens a must have in your camera bag I also have a 50mm 1.8
Maxwell –
Gorgeous lens. Recommended by relative who is a professional photographer. Miles beyond what we had before. Arrived quickly.
Disappointed –
Nice lens, I just wish I would have received it before Christmas, pretty much the reason why I wanted it. The bill showed up before the lens did.
mrbrown76 –
Takes beautiful photos. Ditch the kit lens. You wont be disappointed
gofever –
Wonderful lens, everyone should have a nifty fifty millimeter in their collection.
nren –
beautiful lens and worth the money but if youre on a budget ive seen the 1.8 take great photos as well.
Misteek –
Bought it so my wife can take portrait pictures. Absolutely amazing. She did take a few classes to get the best out of the lens. Well worth the price.
RichardCranium –
Excellent lens, works great in low light environments, great detail.
Leigh –
Not the best focus, would rather purchase a sigma or the 58 1.4 from Nikon! That one I love. Not Nikons best lens unfortunately if you’re looking for a 50 in the same price range I’d go for the 50 1.8 from Nikon as a beginner upgrade.
Raj89 –
Great lens! Crisp images. I paired with Nikon d850 and it works amazing for portraits.
Amanda –
So much better quality than the kit lens i was using!!! Definitely worth the money to upgrade!
Paulie –
A wide-aperture 50mm lens is one of the most versatile prime lenses almost any photographer can use. Amazing lens very good for portrait.
Zenetta –
One of the best and most essential lenses for your full-frame camera collection. Really great aperture and and focal length and produces super sharp images.
Rover45 –
Always used a zoom lens. Bought this for a lighter load with my Nikon D750. The pictures are incredibly sharp. Use it now for most of my pictures. Saves on the shoulder also.
BonBon –
Great lens, easy to use, snug fit. My favorite lens yet!
Uperdave –
Not as crisply sharp focus as the Nikon 50mm f/1.8G.
NancyT –
My “go to” lens while learning digital photography. Sometimes the image isn’t focused, but most likely it is user error.
JeffBezon –
quite nice lens but its what you pay for price (not so good with chroamatic ab)
Jimm –
Great walking around lens. Low light is no longer an issue. Have it mounted on a Nikon Z6 with F mount adapter. I suspect the Z lens would be even crisper but this is a nice item for your camera kit.
Newlens –
Once item was actually received it works out phenomenally

I was nervous about buying a 50mm for my crop sensor Nikon d500 but I have had it for a few weeks now and have not taken it off my camera! Sure, I probably would be unhappy in a small room but all in all, it does a beautiful job! My other favorite lens is the 35mm f/1.8 so I wanted to give this 50mm with the f/1.4 a chance especially since the price of a prime lens is so nice. I did my first photoshoot with it and the pictures are absolutely fantastic! There was talk of the pictures being “soft” in some other reviews and I have not seen that. To the recent photoshoot (it was a family and maternity shoot), I brought other lenses along – the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, and the Sigma 50-150mm f2.8. But I never took the 50mm off! I am very pleased.
Nmunoz –
Best decision was to invest in the 1.4 instead of the 1.8 i love it!
JoAnnK –
This has been a good lens to have. Fits great on the camera.
Susanna –
Love this lens. Put it on my Nikon d90 & took some portraits with it. Loved the pics. Would definitely recommend it. Still need to try it on my D750.
Debs –
So sharp and fast! This is a great little lens. A much have lens.
Mrdoutonight12 –
Awsome lens added it to the collection of others nikon always make a great product
RK01 –
At 1.4 aperture this is a very affordable 50mm prime lens for beginners and pros alike especially since f 1.2 prime nikons are almost impossible to come by these days. The lens performed flawlessly out of the box for me. Good Bokeh with sharp images, a good all around lens.
Tglez –
Perfect lens for Nikon d5600, I also tried it out on a Nikon z6 with the adapter and it worked great
Miranda –
This is one of my favorite lens. Perfect for portraits.
SamW –
Crystal clear but a steady hand is required. Not a great lens for beginners but if you have a bit of experience you’ll be very happy with this lens
Jewels –
Excellent. Works exceptionally well. No complaints thus far.
JohnB –
My 85mm lens was great but a little too telescopic. I was in the market for a 50mm . This was a great Black Friday deal at almost half off. Wit a F1.4 setting it is a bright lens
Xxxx –
High quality
High performance
Clear shots
Great enlargements
SickGrails –
For the sale price it was a no brainer! They was sold out I got lucky walking in a store to ask if it was any and it was one left!
Lopezphotography –
Excellent choice for close up portraits for a good price.
Mark –
So far I am really enjoying using this 50mm f/1.4 lens. It has fast autofocus, good bokah, is small, lightweight, and yields sharp images when it hits focus on my D800. But this is my first “modern” G series lens, after using nothing but older AF-D and manual focus lenses on my Nikons, so I don’t have the same perspective or presumptions as other “professional” reviewers have who generally panned this lens’s performance. Regardless, if you can get this lens on sale, it is a great addition if you need a fast prime 50mm F-mount lens. The only downside is that it takes 58mm lens filters, so all my 52mm filters I use on my older prime lenses won’t fit.
ChrisP –
One of my favorite lenses in my bag and at an affordable price. Works really well in low light and focus is typically on point.
