JayMitch –
Absolutely amazing lens. Great addition to the line.
BlakeEDH –
Very comparable to the 70-200 2.8E FL I just sold to purchase this lens. The big difference on Z cameras (Z9) is how consistant the lens is and how incredibly stable the VR is. It locks and visually looks like its on a tripod. As far as actual stops of VR effectiveness…. I don’t see a huge difference. For video, the new VR system is other worldy. There is a little bit of wiggle at the lens mount, but that was present in both copies I tried -that is my only complaint.
Lemonadephotos –

This lens… Hmm there is the good the bad and the ugly. The ugly first: I have had 2 of them. The first lens the autofocus was absolutely terrible. I mostly shoot manual so I wasn’t sure if I should make an issue of it. The manual shooting on this first lens was fantastic. Upon thinking of how much I paid I decided to take it back. If I’m spending thousands everything should work.
They let me exchange the lens for free. As I was told this is only on the first exchange.. if I chose to exchange it again it would be a restocking fee which is pretty high on this item as it’s sale price is pretty high.
The second lens was… interesting. The colors seemed way more accurate on this lens, and the overall sharpness was much, much better. I would not have known this had I not gotten the lens exchanged. It did do better with auto focusing than the first lens, however both lenses were unable auto focus on smaller animals like birds, or birds in flight… which I found somewhat disappointing. Then we come down to the manual focusing. (Big sigh…)
The first lens was much easier to manual focus. This one always seems slightly off from what you are seeing. It does a great job when it does catch the focus just right, but it is waaaay more finnicky to manual focus. Even using the focus peaking option on the Z7II body changed between the 2 lenses, the first lens was easy to view the focus peaking and this lens is much less noticeable even set to the highest setting.
Overall I think it’s a great lens but it would have been nice if I didn’t feel each one excelled at different things… I mean it’s the same exact lens! The quality control should be a bit more accurate. I kept the second lens as it’s sharpness is fantastic… but be warned, go through everything be fore your 30 days is up.
I am going to try a firmware update soon… hoping somehow that this issue was addressed since upon checking yesterday this lens was not sold to me with the most up to date firmware. I’ve had the lens overall 4 months and have had some great shots… it’s just a bit frustrating.

Outstanding lens for portrait and landscape shots.
Very sharp from corner to corner. Can’t wait to use this lens this fall to capture fall foliage shots. You’ll definitely want to add this lens to your kit.

It’s the lens I always wanted and it was in stock and ready for me at Bedt Buy

Wonderful versatile lens for portraits and wedding photography!
TJTJTJ –
I have the previous DSLR version of this lens, too, but when I upgraded to a Mirrorless body, I didn’t want to use the FTZ adapter. I figured it would be a small bump in terms of sharpness quality, but this “S” version of the lens is such a fantastic improvement. Increased sharpness edge-to-edge, less vignetting, and a sleeker look (in my opinion). Well worth the upgrade after moving to Mirrorless. (I have used this lens for the last five months.)
RayFT –
Sharp!! Nikon’s best 70-200 ever. If you’re thinking about it. Get it now while it’s on sale.

This is an incredible lens ! Semi Macro, Long Zoom, Portrait Lens. Super sharp and captures color true to life. It is not light weight, but most 70-200mm aren’t.

Sunny –
Great lens for the z series camera. One of the most versatile lenses that are out there. A huge range for composition between 70 and 200 mm.
ItsAMeMario –
It’s such a beautiful and well constructed lens. It’s one of my favorite in my collection. I tried it out several times before I bought it. The weight is as expected for a lens of this focal length and aperture. It works just as beautifully with the z6ii as it does with the z30. The sharpness is awesome and the bokeh is fantastic.
Helen –
I had 2 copies of this lens, both were bad. There is a known issue with the AF capability of this lens and although I could have sent it in for a $500+ repair, it seems to me that a nearly $3,000 lens should work as expected right out of the box. Do better, Nikon.
Cesar –
Lightweight for the caliber of glass here. Spent a day climbing Vernal Falls in Yosemite and it wasn’t a noticeable hindrance.
Brian –
Just getting into mirrorless systems, Great lens, close-ups are amazing, its sealed so no durst issues.

DavidF –
Probably the best 70-200 lens I’ve used from any manufacturer. It’s autofocus is fast and accurate. It’s not too heavy for daily use. Sharpness is absolutely incredible and the design build is flawless. I would buy this again and again.
SenthilS –
Waited 2 years to grab this one , happy with my purchase and love taking pictures with z6ii

The images this lens produces are exceptional. The images are sharp and crisp. The auto focus comes in handy when wanting to toggle between auto and manual focus. User friendly with tons of other selections and options.
JosephT –
70-200 f/2.8 has been Nikon’s sweet spot for a very long time. This next iteration keeps up the tradition. It’s a pro zoom with prime lens sharpness.
MarcoG –
Without a doubt the best lens I have purchased so far, excellent photo quality.
