Paired with the Nikon Z6II this version of the nifty 50 helps get razor sharp images even in low light. It is a fast lens
Bestbuy –
Great lense for a great camera! Cheaper too which makes it beneficial.

Amazingly sharp prime lens. I’ve used the older Nikon 50mm 1.8s when I had a D300 and D7200. Those lens were okay , albeit also they were 75mm when on a APS-C sized sensor so they required a bit more spacing between the camera and subject. This is my first time using a 50mm on a full frame Nikon Z6II and I am super happy with the results so far. Used it in CO for astrophotography and it was great. I know 50mm isn’t too popular for that field, but I was very happy with the results. The only downside as others have mentioned is that is is a little larger than the average 50mm lens. If you want a little more compact, maybe check out the 40mm f2 lens.

Outstanding image quality. Online reviewers have praised this lens with good reason. It is sharp, even wide open at 1.8. If you bought your Nikon Z with the 24-70 f4, this is a perfect compliment to deliver the nice blurry background effect on people portraits. The level of detail is impressive. It is compact enough that you don’t mind leaving it in you bag all the time.
CUSER –
What a lens. An awesome prime lens that takes great photos when paired with a Z camera.
Terri –
Fabulous prime lens to add to your camera bag; great for portraiture work.
Litzy –
It’s a great lens for close up portraits. If you want something that can take nice close up bokeh effect this lense is for you.
Zach19 –
This is a fantastic lens – it produces a sharp image and beautiful bokeh; I paired it with my Z5. Great build quality, as well.

The Nikon 50mm has always been a go to lens with my older F mount system. I have enjoyed using this new 50mm Z mount lens. Switching over to Z mount for the 50mm is worth doing.
Matt –
Best 50mm lense I have ever used. At this price it’s an easy option.
CarlosG –
A 50 nifty with a 1.8 at a decent price for prime glass? Yes.. this take amazing shots. Sharp, fast and new gen of nikon lenses.

The nifty fifty!! Amazing quality and very fast! Highly recommend it for any Nikon z series user!
Cooksvillecamper –
Great bokeh and low light performance. My first Z lens prime. So far very sharp lens.
Frank –
The best 50mm/F1.8 lens for digital camera, better than other company.
KirkUSOne –
I was seriously considering getting the 50mm f1.2 version of this lens but after watching several videos comparing the two I’m glad I bought the 1.8 version. Both lenses are extremely sharp and with the savings I can put that money towards another lens. If you are looking for an excellent prime lens this should be in your bag.
RobertT –
Sharp lens, unlike the 1.8of yesteryear. It is solid, weather sealed and I thinknit has good bokeh
Kayla –
This lens is a game changer. Photo quality is unbelievable. If you’re an amateur photographer this is going to step your game up ten-fold. Pictures are super crisp and life-like. The build quality of this lens is also superb for the pricepoint.
Alejandro –
The best value z lens, especially compared to its cousin the 50 f/1.2. You get 95% of the performance for 25% of the price. I use the lens on my Z9.
Landrea –
I’m so in love with this lens! It’s worth the buy. Great first prime lens. Its my main lens for everything.
Uneak76 –
Great lens, takes amazing photos and so easy to install and use.
GwendalG –
I bought it with a warranty. I lost the hood almost immediately, and Nikon refused to send me a new one. That’s not what I call “good quality”.
JoeD –
One of the best 50mm lenses I have ever used. The bokeh you get from this lens is on point with lenses much higher in price.
user288319 –
Needed a new lens and this one is perfect for portraits
DPN916 –
50mm @1.8 sharp corners to corner. Sharpness is not the only thing stands out. Color, contrast, quiet focus, and no focus breathing, those are big pluses for photo/videography
CesarM –
A very versatile product capable of achieving yo satisfy multiple tasks as portraits, detail shots, etc.
Allen –
Small and compact, love this lens, my first option for portrait photography
SamIsac –
I was using a Sigma 50mm 1.4 prior to purchasing this. The Sigma is already a sharp lens but I wanted to try native. BEST DECISION EVER! This is much sharper than the sigma 50mm art lens and better yet, its a native lens. I dont need an adapter to use it.
JosephF –
The best prime lens at this price point . Very sharp
AnVo –
Good lens to take many picture . I use more than fix lens
PhillipT –
I was super surprised how good this 50mm 1.8. This isnt your typical 50mm 1.8. This a bargin
MichaelR –
I was very surprised and satisfied with this glass. I definitely recommend
JudyC –
This is now my everyday go to lens. The pictures are breathtaking.
Indigo196 –
I purchased this lens specifically for taking pictures of stage performances. The f/1.8 is needed because the director likes to keep the light low and this fast lens met the challenge. Great image quality when paired with my Nikon Z5 camera. This would be an excellent general purpose lens for walking around town as well.
KevParedes –
The valie of this len is awesome! I love the quality in portrait photos.
Jermboonski –
Super quiet and quick auto focus, I love this lens
Ryan –
I no longer own this because I swapped to a 24-70mm f2.8. But this lens provided everything I needed to walk around and get the shot. Sure it doesn’t have zoom and it is a 1.8 for $600, but if you move your feet and take the photo you are going to be amazed. Easily this is the best 50mm I have ever used, the colors you get with Nikon are amazing, the sharpness for this lens is great. It can’t be beat unless you buy faster glass that suit your needs. For a first lens you should buy it.
KaitlynW –
I absolutely love the 50 prime lens! I’m a profile photographer and I do weddings a lot and it’s my go to now! Might even be the only lens I shoot with all day!
RaihanA –
best prime lens i ever owned. This is fast, this is sharp and most of all amazing quality. Very fast lens. i take pictures of my kids and i have been landscape photographer for years , this lens made me fall in love with potrait photography.
ROKU –
This is my go to portrait lens when I need full body photos. Paired with the 105 f2.8 you have one of the best one-two punches for portraits on the Nikon system!
Justin –
Very pleased with this purchase. Super sharp/crisp photos. Love the bokeh from this superb 50mm. Z Glass Rocks!
KateT –
Great lens, as described. Hasn’t left my camera yet.

Great lense addition for my mirrorless camera, nice definition
Bassam –
I had so many different lenses and most off them more expensive than this one
But this one has big difference and the auto focus more faster specially in the video
If u planing to get a very good lens for pictures or videos for your nikon z or nikon AF that will be the best choice , I love it
LaurenD –
Amazing lens in low light! Game changer. Works great for portraits. I did some indoor Christmas tree photos with my dogs and it was so sharp and great bokeh
Ilia –
An awesome lens that is reliable and has beautiful bokeh.
KathyG –
Great starter lens with a good focal length. I’ve used it for weddings often.
Wernerdad –
This is the most sharp Nikon S-line lens period. And 50mm is very useful for portrait, street photography, and landscape if you know how to frame the images right.
WilliamD –
Perfect complement to my Nikon 28mm f2.8 and 24-70mm f4 S. Can’t wait for Spring and Summer. Not much to photograph in Cincinnati in the Winter.
MuskegoEd –
Other than your kit zoom lens this should be first lens you buy. Very versatile for street, portrait even landscape panorama shots. Beautifully sharp and focuses fast. The Z version of the nifty 50. It is a little pricey but that is Nikon not bestbuy. I am using it on a Z6ii.
luernes –
I recently bought this lens and I think it is one of the best 50mm lenses I have ever used (and I have used a few over the years from a variety of makers). I only shoot at f/1.8 and it is incredibly sharp across the frame, the bokeh is nice and smooth.
I really recommend.
