Great travel lens. This is so fun to use. After using a 24-70mm on a beach vacation, I realized I needed a longer lens. No way I’m bringing my f/2.8 ‘s to the beach. I use this on a Z6II. I also recommend the Z 40mm f2 in case you need something for low light. All fits great in my PeakDesign 5L Sling

While this is not an S lens it is extremely sharp and the most versatile lens in all of the Z system. Without springing for a 100-400 or 70-200 2.8 it is really the only option in the 120-200 range for the Z system.

The lens might not be the sharpest but the range that it offers is so so great.
It is really good despite somewhat closed aperture closer to 200 mm.

I bought this initially as a travel walk around lens for days when I needed a wide range of focal length and didn’t want too much gear. I was very good for that except not much bokeh when zoomed out all the way.
Last week, I used this as a photo lens at the US Climbing Youth Nationals, mounted on both a Z6ii and Z7ii . I also used the Z 24-120 F4 S lens. The 24-200 gave me the reach I needed without too much sacrifice to IQ compared to the 24-120 S. As long as I had decent light, I was very happy with the results. For a few backlit situations at full zoom, I did miss the F4 aperture.

For my new Nikon Z5, I wanted a lens to accomplish several goals. I knew compromise was needed on speed but the ISO flexibility of this camera and high resolution should work out fine for what I intend to photograph. Reviews I have seen are excellent, though not an S lens, and the VR stabilization of Nikon lenses has never disappointed me.

Item works as Nikons description
Received it in a very damaged box from Best Buy
there have been no performance issues

Best ‘bang-for-the-buck’ Nikon Z lens I own. Okay it’s not built as robust or weather-sealed like Nikon’s S pro lens. But it has a great zoom range & the image quality is impressive. I pixel peep & do not see much or really any difference in image quality with my other S lens. So if I want to travel light, I attach this to my Nikon Z7II & leave the rest behind. Ok, I may also bring the 14-30mm for wider landscapes/seascapes. The only reason it’s not 5 stars is the slow aperture. This is not a lens for astrophotography. Still a great deal & highly recommended.

Love love love this lens.
This is not the best but definitely a great value for this lens.

If you haven’t used a Z lens yet, what are you waiting for? This lens is the perfect walk around lens. Fantastic pictures and perfect match for any Nikon Z camera

Awesome lense, takes amazing photos. Highly recommend.
Cooksvillecamper –
Very sharp lens for all around photography. Great for travel when you only want to carry a single lens.
Frank –
One lens good for travel, take pictures for family, just need one lens, that is good for me.
CompValid –
This lens works well with my Z6II. The images are sharp and the contrast is adequate. Focusing is fast and quiet. Great all in one lens for on the go and travel photography.
KirtiG –
I got a good thanks giving deal for this. One of the good lens at great price. It took long time to receive the delivery though.
RayM –
Purchased this to give me more range. It has become my on the go lens. the weight I enjoy. I never liked light cameras. always felt cheap and feel the same way with the lens. love it.
FlyGuyToo –
A great all around lens for the price. I bought this lens with my new Nikon Z6 II. I did a lot of research before I bought the system and so far I am very happy with my decision to buy this lens. This combo was perfect for my trip to Japan a week after I bought the system and so far it has exceeded all expectations. I would definitely recommend this lens for anyone who does not want to constantly change lenses, yet be able to capture beautiful wide angle landscapes, or zoom in on a subject that is some distance away. Perfect for me and my photography lifestyle.
FilippoD –
Very happy with this lens. Would recommend to others. Used it with my 6zll camera.

I have been walking around with this lens for about 3 weeks now. It is a great all around lens. It is all most folks would need. It would be the perfect travel lens! For you Pros…. It still does not replace the primes and the 2.8 trilogy (14-24, 24-70, 70-200).
Blue –
I was a bit hesitant from other reviews but really wanted a single lens to avoid having to change the lenses when I was out and about, especially in dusty environments. The shots I got from it however were incredible and both both the widest angle and zoomed out. It also appears to be fairly hardy.

Why Nikon does not market this a “kit” for its Z mount system is beyond me. At just 1.25 pounds it is a very good walking around lens. At 24mm F4 through F5.6 the center out to the corners is very sharp and it is equally as good at 200mm at F6.3 to F11. Although, beyond f8 there is some softness in the corners, but nothing that would prevent making a fine art print. One downside is the lack of a VR button on the lens. This feature is handled via the menu in the camera. This is more of a Nikon issue not the lens. Zooming in and out is easy and smooth. The glass on this lens is great and in my opinion is better than some of the S series lens at twice the price.

I had used my adaptor for my D5500 24-200mm zoom, but this is so much better. It is worth getting.
CoachH –
Could not be happier. Was looking for an entry level Z-Lens with some telephoto capabilities to use with my Nikon Z6II. What an impressive lens. The shots I am getting shooting high school sports action are clear, sharp and full of bold colors. Other photographers with similar equipment are very impressed with my photos and are surprised with the semi-low cost of this excellent lens.
ToddS –
Outstanding Product. Just what I needed to take up close pics at ball games.
Ken529 –
Straightforward and easy to use. This lens is compatible with the mirrorless Z cameras and provides a wide range of focal lengths.
Supadada –
Amazing lens! Impressive sharpness and very versatile zoom range. This lens makes very nices images. It is light and compact. I really recommand it to anyone who wants one lens that does it all!
BMunster –
The 24-200 Z lens is a great lens. I used it on my Z50, which is a crop sensor camera. It makes it a 36mm to 300mm lens (1.5x crop factor). The built in image stabilization is amazing, allowing for very slow shutter speeds when your shooting environment is lacking good light.
The only complaint is that it’s kind of on the pricey side for a “kit lens”. I’d say it should be more around $500-$600 tops, even in today’s financial world. So from a value standpoint, I gave it three stars. On everything else, I gave it a solid five star review.
Allen –
Great for travel photography, perfect all around lens
Maggie –
Love this len. It helps you take beautiful pictures. Very satisfied.
Ashu –
I always wanted a single lens with good range of focus length and 24-200 fits perfect in it. I can capture landscaps, portraits and long distance shot with just one lens. Works well, took some really good photos with it.
MikeV –
I love this lense , it’s very versatile and light weight great pictures up close and far away.

NIKON NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 C
Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2023
This is my lens of choice for my Nikon Z6ii camera. It has the reach for most shooting and wide enough for buildings and scenery. The lens is sharp enough for all my shots. I also own a Nikon 300, F/r prime lens that is sharper but use that for birding, and off-raod races where I like to say further away from the track, and the dust
Ron45140 –
For a 200mm zoom, this lens is fairly versatile. Being an f/4 it is excellent for well lit scenes. While not a Prime lens, it still has good clarity as a telephoto.
Rabi –
Absolutely brilliant lens. I would recommend for all using a Z camera. It is very light and small. Very easy to carry it around. The photos are sharp and works wonderfully in low light. I was skeptical to buy this lens in the begining but after reading the reviews, i gave it a try, i then thought to myself, why didn’t i get this lens in the begining.
MiQQqq –
Purchased just in time for our son’ graduation. Wish we bought it earlier. We love this lense and camera that capture special moments in crisp and vibrant color. Definitely recommend
JesusT –
First telescopic lens for this camera body . Thought it was great! Great zoom and stable.
Dominique –
I’m new to photography and this has been a great starter lens for me. My only regret is it isnt a low enough aperture for the direction I want to go in. Overall, I love it and will continue to use it for awhile. I’m using it with the Nikon z6ii.
Picturesmakelifegreat –
It’s my 2nd one for my video setup and think they are great for what they are, not as good as my S glass but I wasn’t expecting that quality for less than half the price.
Fiberoptic –
Wide zoom range that is both fast and smooth. Gives a lot of options for the photographer. A one carry lens.
ReeganB –
Great lens for landscape photography and handy for traveling. One lens I carry while I am traveling.
Nikonbob2000 –
Good glass for the money. I’ve used only Nikon products for over 40 years.
Surprisinglyawesome –
It’s not a prime lens but it holds its own very much closer to a prime lens
MattC –
great lens for shooting indoor sports video with a Z9 body. this is the only purpose of this lens in my kit, and i use as often as my F2.8 lenses.
RobR –
Excellent all purpose lens. Pretty much my go to lens now.
Travis –
Takes amazing and very clear photos. Great zoom. Love it!
SrinivasD –
worth to buy, affordable and good performance. Gives clear image of pictures.
Oscar –
Got this for my new nikon z6ii and its a great overall camera the aperture is ok but nothing editing cant fix
SubhranshuD –
This product I bought from Best Buy on 17th of this month along with Z7 II camera. And Best buy did not give $100 discount even it is bundled. But then they say better to buy it from Nikon online to get if at a price vale of $ 799 with $100 off. Then what is the point going to the store and getting it.
AlbertoD –
Extraordinary zoom range. Good price for a lens this kind. Not an “S” lens but nevertheless great optics. With a camera like the Z6ii or better yet with a Zf, high ISO allows you to shoot handheld even in very low light. Great for travel or every day carry.
Scubadad –
Very sweet sense at an amazing price. It has a very wide and versatile range. I am not a professional. However I have had amazing shots with this little baby. I have shot animals, landscape, sports, night skies, and lightening storms and other various things, all with incredible results!
