This is the latest in the Surface Pro line. We have been using them since the Surface Pro 2, and they have all proven to be super reliable. This one is no exception. Another winner from Microsoft!
Poppop12 –
Trying to learn all the on systems on this device.
Tscook97 –
I wanted to learn how to code and figured Windows would be the best option for me. Needless to say that this laptop has been nothing but great!
moonman –
I’m using this full time for work. I was concerned it wouldn’t be able to keep up with everything I needed it to. But it does! Little fan runs alot, but that’s ok as long as it keeps working! Processor is quick. I am using alot of accessories with it and they all collaborate good together.
pooh –
i love it. The pen works well with my I Pad. It makes school on line so much better.
Tammie –
Exceeded my expectations. It’s crazy fast and starts up quicker than any computer I’ve ever owned, and I’ve gone through quite a few. The battery life is great and I am very happy with my purchase.
willoglen –
Dropped and broke my older Surface, so I replaced it with this one. I love the new features and I love my new Surface. Love the face recognition so that I just pick it up and it logs me in.

I was looking forward to buying this computer, and I was right! It is a very useful tool I will be enjoying in the future.

Note, I just got this laptop delivered September 18, 2020.
So, I have a Surface Pro 6 that I dropped and also an item from a shelf above fall right on top of it while open resulting in many spider cracks. This was June 2020, so while it still works flawlessly, all these months later, it began getting hot, very hot. And the camera, while still works for Zoom, no longer recognizes me at sign on.
Afraid of losing data, I splurged on a Excellent Pre-Owned Surface Pro. Don’t know who had this but it was literally spotless and perfect. Better than my Surface 6, also bought pre-owned.
I went from i5 to i7 and the speed is unparalleled. Truly. Anyone who says they can’t tell any different is crazy. Colors are brighter all programs work at a much higher speed. Windows 10 is just popping, as are the latest Power Point and Word. Just a year later from my first Surface Pro 6.
BUT — 3x now, this laptop just froze. First time was while using my pen to annotate a slide in a Zoom meeting. The entire display froze and would not respond to ANY input. Not even Ctrl/Alt/Del which ALWAYS works. I had to press and hold power for 30 seconds to a minute, or longer. The thing just would not respond.
The next time I was just playing games (Zoom may have been open, don’t recall) and same thing, no matter what I pushed or tried, no response. 3rd time was today during a Zoom training. Granted I usually have 84 windows open, but I don’t know whether had clicked a few items quickly or what but POOF! Locked up. Had to power off to get it to reboot.
This is very concerning considering the laptop is not even a MONTH old in my care. And there is no registered owner before me, as was the case on my Surface Pro 6. That previous owner got the SP6 in May 2019, then I got it in August 2019, but the warranty needed a reset to match my purchase date. No such issue with this purchase though.
All drivers are up to date and any scheduled updates have gone through. But now that I am past my 14 day window to return to Best Buy, am concerned the freezing will continue or worsen without a clear solution from Microsoft.
Other than that, these things are flawless. But for perhaps the power cords. My SP6 lasted 3 months. And by comparison, when my iPad was dropped it was toast. And that was in the house, on carpet. The SP6 dropped onto pavers outside and still held up better and worked for perfectly the past 6 months before it began running hot.
I hope I can sort this out. If so, I will update the review, b/c other than freezing and not responding to any buttons pushed for over a minute, it has been flawless and made me a better employee for my job.

Love this machine doesn’t come with the keyboard and pen would recommend waiting for a sale. Other than that its a tablet with desktop capabilities. What more can you ask for?
Doogie –
Surface will always be the way to go! I Prefer this over any other brand
Nixter –
I had the surface 4 and this is a lot smoother and quicker. Looking forward to years of use!!

My son loves his new surface pro. When he’s not on the Television watching his anime, he’s drawing on his new surface – he’s really talented!
Suzibear8 –
Great quality product and am very pleased with the performance
Beth –
I love this computer! It’s light weight, powerful and easy to navigate
Ernsting –
Updated from a Surface Pro 4 and finding the same exceptional Surface experience–lightweight, dependable, a real work horse during this work from home time. The pen function is a must have in the remote world.
Bill –
Love this laptop. Performance is excellent. Super light and perfect footprint.
Tweety7j –
Great so far! Love the portability of it. Fast running
Anonymous –
Love the tablet, hate the keyboard. The material fades very quickly and always looks dirty. Wish the boarders of the tablet were a bit thicker from the screen frame so it would be a bit more durable.
Lolo –
Great quality touch screen computer. Easy to setup. Carries it with me everywhere. I love Microsoft. Everything about it is exceptional
Iztech –
Works nicely. A little awkward to use when on lap. Does always record my touch.
Collegekid –
My camera went out in less than a month. Having glitches and issues and BEST BUY has been awful to work with! Don’t buy this computer and don’t purchase ANYTHING from Best Buy!
sheets –
Great computer and great price. My son uses it for college and for other projects. He has installed several applications and the computer is fast and efficient.
Krisztina –
I love this device. I was skeptical but had a few people tell me I wouldn’t be disappointed. There are many improvements with the operating system. I especially love the real time synching with the phone. Take care though because it could cause excessive heat if synching for long periods of time.
Gary –
This Surface Pro 7 is fast and has plenty of storage. It does everything I require of it.
SRCS –
Excellent. Lightweight and easy to use. Would highly recommend.
HiTechRedneck –
Only got this because it was on sale, but it’s since become my primary work computer. Lightning fast, as expected. The Microsoft Surface line never disappoints in performance and portability.
Laptop –
i love it!…the touch screen & flip keyboard is awesome! And i love that there are different colors of keyboards. Perfect size…
JerryP –
The computer itself is fine but I don’t like having to key a separate keyboard that is also to small in my opinion with people who have xx large hands like I do.
Sandy –
LOVE this computer. Love the weight, the size, the speed……I don’t think the keyboard should be so expensive.
MyDisplay –
Touch screen not sensitive at edges. Some lag (processor speed?) when moving within an application.
Nick –
I love the surface pro. So convenient having a fully powered windows computer the size of a tablet. Works great, can even handle some light gaming!
user1 –
perfect, using more than a year, works wonderful. I love this..
Santosh –
It’s my best item and best deal to buy and use it from Best Buy as always
Kitty –
I love it. Affordable and fully functional. Highly recommended.
Jimmy –
Portability is great and comes with enough storage and memory. Should have come with a pen but microsof5 doesnt include it.
Awesome –
Exceeded review recommendations. High quality – right choice.
Unknown –
I am super pleased with my surface pro 7. It is so fast and easy to operate. I purchased the keyboard also because I just would rather have a keyboard to type. I use it for our small business and I also do prn work at home and use it for that too.
SweetSkies –
I do digital art and design professionally, and was looking for something lightweight yet powerful for working on projects while on the go. On pen and paper, the Surface Pro 7 checked all the boxes for what I needed, and so I made the plunge and bought one. After about a month, I’m pretty disappointed with the shoddy quality of what’s an almost $1,500 machine.
First and foremost are the issues with the touch input. While it advertises 10-point touch input, you’ll be luck if you can get it to register just two fingers to pinch and zoom on a webpage. The touchscreen’s sluggish responses to input and constant ignoring of gestures can make the Surface unusable without a type cover or an attached mouse/keyboard at times. At first I thought I’d received a defective unit, but no. After a few minutes of searching for help on Microsoft’s support forums, I came to find these issues with multi-touch and input lag are a long-standing and widely reported firmware problem with the Surfaces- which is to this day unresolved by Microsoft. As someone who bought the Surface for the express purpose of the touch capability, this was (and still is) a huge let down.
Next comes the battery life. If you’re just running a couple tabs in Chrome and any moderate-weight software in tandem on the battery, you’ll be lucky to get even 4 hours out of the Surface Pro 7. The given estimates for battery life in the ads and on the product details are pretty misleading. The 8-9 hour estimate must be assuming you’ll only ever be using an offline word processor with the screen brightness dropped to the lowest setting. So basically, if you’re headed to a coffee shop to do some work for a few hours, you’d better be bringing that charger along. Which brings up my final glaring issue…
The charger supplied with the SP7 is great… for however long it lasts you. After about two weeks, my brick started to make a loud, audible buzzing. Much louder than the normal ambient sound of electronics. MS support tried to tell me this was normal, despite the fact it was silent when used right out of the box. Since then, I’ve been using a spare generic USB-C charger I have instead, but I just happened to be fortunate that I had an alternative on hand. Sadly, many will likely end up having to shell out the extra money to replace something essential for the computer, one that should’ve just been built with some modicum of quality control to begin with.
All things considered, I cannot recommend the SP7 in general and ESPECIALLY not for professional artists/designers who need a reliable work machine for their projects. What I paid doesn’t nearly line up with what I received, which is a shame; I wanted to like my SP7 and get stuff done with it. I expected better than a charger-bound tablet pc that can’t even properly register touch input.
KaySurfacePro7 –
It seem like its not built for running for a long time, because I was on it for about 2 hours on a live stream then it got hot and froze up on me. That was not good.
Rem77 –
This device is no longer the latest surface pro as the title says. Best buy needs to keep up with model changes so as not to mislead less techie customers.
TomC –
Good price. Loaded computer without the things you don’t want. Nice having the option to turn down the free virus protection before it’s loaded. Very light as a tablet and adding the keyboard makes for a great laptop. Love the screen size.
DrysideWastate –
Ordered online, had the surface shipped to my house. Service was excellent! It arrived 2 days early, Good updates from Best Buy as to order status. The Surface Pro 7 (second surface pro for me) works as advertised. I teach online classes and use it for work. Added an after market hub for a large monitor for long work sessions, and the extra ports for my external Hard Drive, mouse, keyboard and some items are blue tooth and that saves on needing an extra port. Got a good deal on the Surface Pro, My son is getting one as well. Highly recommended.
Alrak –
Overall pretty good battery could be better but not bad at all.
Sarah –
Bought to replace a Surface Pro 5 (i5 version), and all of my peripherals (type cover, Surface Pen, and even my spare chargers) still work just fine.
Comes with a free upgrade to Win 11, which is nice. Also has USB-C with Power Delivery, which is double-nice. No more proprietary display port or whatever plug.
If you’re someone who needs a laptop, but you also enjoy digital art on the side, this is probably one of the best options out there. My old Surface Pen is much more responsive now than it was with the Pro 5. The overall power feels about 3x what I’m used to. 16GB of ram is also a huge plus if you like to keep a lot of programs/browser tabs open all the time, and the microSD slot allows for ridiculous storage expansion nowadays.
And yes, this i7 version DOES have a fan, but I consider this to be a good thing, given the specs. Better still, the fan is very quiet, and only comes on during heavy CPU use–it’s just too darn small to make much more than a faint hum in a dead-silent room, and the passive cooling is more than enough for general browsing or Office work.
Blakcarl –
I had a HP Laptop for 15 years and was in need of a upgrade and had did my research on the surface pro 7 and recently purchased this MS surface pro and was surprised how fast this one performed
rsnapper –
The first surface I received electrically shocked me to the point where I had a mark on my skin. I could not leave my laptop on my bare legs for long otherwise it would get too uncomfortable. Additionally, I would have to restart the computer multiple times. The keyboard has started to stop working and it is less than 2 years old. After contacting the manufacturer, they sent me a brand new one. This also electrically shocks me and still has issues with daily functions. It is month 7 and I am contacting the manufacture again.
Willy –
Machine runs like a dream so far. No complaints about its abilities, only thing i would critique is that id like the battery life to be a little longer.
featherfoot –
This is a replacement for a Surface Pro 4 that had a battery expand and MS would not replace the battery. It is not safe to use one of these with a battery that is about to melt down. This is better than the Pro 4 and so far it is working fine. The Pro 8 is out now and I should have waited a week or two but did not understand that at the time I bought the Pro7.
KungFuPanda –
Awesome product. Delivery was on time and the product was amazing.
