  1. Harp

The dial is just the perfect addition to my surface book and I love the convenience it adds

  2. ccwyland

Excellent Item! Would recommend to anyone to purchase.

  3. ILMGuy99

Quality build, low features. I really thought that I would be able to do more with this however it is pretty limited in what you can do with this.

  4. mayb

I love this little thing. As a artist getting into digital painting it is perfect for quickly selecting brush sizes

  5. smg1

My Wife had to have this for her surface! I have no earthly idea what this thing does, but she just NEEDED it. I think it still might be in the box.
Its a cool metal round thing.

  6. CharliesMom

I love this dial! Works great with my desktop and tablet

  7. Tsalife

This product helps me work faster when drawing on my Microsoft studio

  8. Unknown

Great and neat piece of technology. It goes well with my Surface.

  9. Jett

This is a great way to edit videos. Very easy to use with the surface.

  10. JPJR

I bought the Microsoft Surface Dial for my Surface Book and it works really good and it takes time to get used to using it.

  11. Techieek

This dial allows me to scroll up/down, and zoom in/out, when I’m using Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Whiteboard. I wish it could be adjusted for scrolling/zooming speed. I also wish it could scroll horizontally, rather than just vertically. And I’d like it to have a small depression on the top so that I could spin in around-and-around easier. I think this dial would be very useful with these enhancements.

  12. kcisme

Works great just not as useful on the surface as it would be on the studio.

  13. Caro

I’m waiting it has fresco support. It’s just a toy, a really expensive one…

  14. Nick

Had to buy one for Home use. I use this at work & it’s a great tool with the right programs.

  15. Student

I give this thing five stars because it does exactly what it says it would do, and looks great, but I do admit that it’s for a very specific group of people. First, I got it with reward points from buying the surface book, so I only paid $30 for something that’s $100 – I’m a student so I would NOT have bought it full price. And then even so, I only bought it because I am a creative and this is a huge boost to productivity since it can pick colors, redo/undo, change my brush size, etc….If you just use your laptop for browsing the web and writing word docs I don’t think it can do much for you besides scrolling and looking pretty.
I also have to warn you that it doesn’t work on-screen (yet?) for the Surface Book 3 – microsoft is fully capable of doing it so I assume they’re just going to release the driver as an update in a few months? I don’t mind it a lot, though it sure would be neat to get the extra functions.
If you are rich, good for you, this review is not for you 😉 What’s one more shiny toy in your stash?

  16. Rabbit612

The Microsoft Surface Dial is one of the coolest accessories that you can get with a Microsoft Surface or to simply use with a computer equipped with Windows 10. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

  17. GioB

good quality gadget, feels like good quality and handles well. only wished it was a little smaller, also there is not a lot of use to it, you can use your mouse to do the same things..

  18. LisaR

Love the versatility of the surface dial. Using with a mouse makes moving and scrolling through emails and articles online a breeze! Definitely worth the money.

  19. Tony

Mixed feelings. Works well with surface but not pratictal for most people

  20. Grymm

Exactly as advertised. A neat little peripheral that you can program. Key commands to the press, left turn, and right turn functions. Works nicely for art as I can use it with my off hand to adjust brush sizes and swap between tools.

  21. Jmartin

Not sure what I was getting into with this, but it worked very intuitively.

I got it to work with sketchbook and move between brushes on the fly.

I feel like it’ll take some time to realize it’s true potential.

  22. HappyBestBuyCustomer

I love my Microsoft Dial. Purchasing the dial online was seamless. The dial was on sale for a lower price so I could get a new one even though I considered buying an open box Dial for less. I was able to use my Best Buy points / voucher so I basically got my Dial for free! I added a memory card (also a great price on sale) and received a $25 credit to spend online at a photography website. My dial was delivered quickly to my doorstep.

  23. Ranchhouse

The surface dial is not a very useful device. I may be missing something but I don’t see the point of having it.

  24. Great

Love this. My daughter uses it for her drawings. She is extremely pleased with it.

  25. groom3

Handy device! Saves a LOT of button clicks/keyboard strokes when working with art programs.

  26. JPHILLY15

Christmas gift for mom she loved it and uses it a lot

  27. Ybush

I have a Surface Book 3. It was a great addition to the laptop.

  28. Amazing

this little gizmo is awesome love how well is compliments the surface and adds functionality

  29. Gameaddict007

I always assumed that you had to stick these on the screen to use them for some reason. Not the case though. You can also get plenty of functionality from it with it laying flat on your desk.

  30. RLL1

Microsoft surface dial works well with other devices.

  31. TechReivewerMD

Great for surface devices. Provides easy scrolling and color correction

  32. Mykle

That’s a great product returned it it wasn’t as great as I thought it was gonna be lagged very slow and easy to use

  33. HappyDellUser

Really nice to use with the Microsoft Surface Studio 2. Great fun.

  34. Jeepsy

This thing is a game changer for the amount of work I do in photoshop. I can’t believe how quickly I can work now by being able to adjust a multitude of brush settings, zoom, brightness volume etc. I was afraid that the sticky underside that keeps it stable on the desk would get dirty and ruined but its cleans off easily and works on the screen when flat or on the desk next to keyboard nicely too.

  35. SurfaceUser

I saw all of the positive reviews for the surface dial on Windows 10. I thought this would be a great addition for editing photos in Corel Paint Shop Pro 2022 on my Surface Laptop Studio. After all it is one of the programs listed as being compatible. I go to customize the wheel in the setting menu. It crashes every single time. I have put in a support request with Microsoft. No remedy yet. It is an overpriced volume control in Windows 11. If it lived up to it’s hype, it would be highly recommended.

  36. Jim23

You have to program it based on the program you use. It’s heavy. Hard to get used to.

  37. Lesly

This is a great gadget, but they could add more functionality to it such as high quality Webcam. It works great as a physical button.

  38. Critmyself

Does not work with apps in windows 11. So photoshop and any other creative users will be angry. First reported to Microsoft in October 2021. Still no fix or and response from Microsoft indicating they are working on it. So unless you are only interested in a bulky volume knob, I would hold off. Keep checking Microsoft forums for updates or you might be throwing money away on this product. This is a shame because in my case I just bought mine to work with my new Surface Studio Laptop but based on what I read, the issue seems to be effecting all computers running windows 11.

  39. thebestbestbuyer

Really fun to use. Not entirely practical. Got it on the Totaltech discount so thought I’d try it. Basically just nice if you’re a content creator. Not worth it otherwise

  40. Seth

Good accessory for drawing, animation and photoshop

  41. Ebony

A product that really works for me. I use this item 95% of the use with my computer.

  42. Tresierra

I understand that for a design specialist and in a certain program it is useful, but for the ordinary user it has almost no use.

I expected to use it with the surface book 3, in Edge and the pen, but it gave me almost nothing useful, the same in office 365, where it does give utility but almost none.

  43. Erik

For the $100 MSRP, unless you do some serious design work that the application supports it, I wouldn’t recommend it. Just because of the high price.

On sale, here at Best Buy about $60, it’s okay buy. You can configure the dial features in Windows 10, but it is mostly simple things like volume control. Not sure about Windows 11.

To really take advantage of this, the application has to support it.

  44. TamayoAnimation

I have to either keep taking the batteries out and put it back in or, pair it via blue tooth despite it already being connected, I have total tech and I just missed the opportunity to turn it in for a free refund. So I’ve had it a little over 60 days. I’m an animator and I use Krita on a surface studio 2 plus, and man this thing is so faulty. Can’t believe I spent $100 on this. Maybe it’s just mine, but absolutely not worth the money even if it did work. Really disrupts my work flow/rhythm

  45. BobR

More graphics software companies need to support it.

  46. JustinC

its amazing eases the workflow it works on any windows based computer as well pretty nice touch

  47. Alex

Please let me know where I can use it, not so many task I accomplished with conneted Surface Book2

  48. Unknown

Not absolutely necessary, but its a cool accessory to have

  49. Loghyc

A fun addition for a Surface Pro 9 that I didn’t know I needed. Using Corel a lot I immediately found the benefit of using this with my Surface Pen Slim

  50. KrisX10

The idea is good but practically it is a waste of money.
