I do not like the look of this installation kit. My new Pioneer radio looks so nice…then you look under it and see this dinosaur looking digital display.

However, the greatness of my radio overshadows the bland look of this kit.

I HAD to get the kit in order for my Pioneer to be installed, so there you have it.

For $200 it’s the cheesiest thing i’ve ever bought. It was working great, but the next day after it was installed the lcd screen stopped displaying anything. It worked good and was easy to use, but it’s not worth $200, maybe $50 at the most. Try another solution if you need a dash kit like this.

  3. HeavensSul

I bought this online on Feb. 26, 2011, for my 2007 Pontiac G6 which I had to have to install the CD player. I had a CD player and speakers installed on March 4, 2011, the CD player worked great all day that Friday. When I got in my car Saturday afternoon, the CD player didn’t come on or the Metra unit so I took it back in and the installer had to cut power off, then back on and it worked. It worked most of the day and then Sunday morning around 1:30 a.m. got in car and it didn’t work again. Not worth the hassle or money. This unit is very badly made, do no buy. Recommend you keep factory CD player.

The media kit allows you to keep the auto menu capabilities as well as use a new audio system for the best price!

  5. Nanny1c

Fit really nicely and looks good in the car but was really over priced but what can you do when you need it and have to have it.

  6. MusicLover747

The installation kit is acceptable. I disappointed that I am not able to view my gas mileage and the outside temperature the same time like I had with my GM display.

I recently purchased a new stereo and had to get this piece to install it. It works fine, but is a little pricy. The main hindrance was that it had to be ordered in and took a long time to arrive. After installation it appears to fit well. I can’t comment more as I have only had the piece for a short while

  8. 06Maxie

Radio display impossible to read in daylight. Has an illumination setting “on” and “off.” No change in illumination which setting used. Instructions difficult to understand and written in very small type. Got minimal info from store re operation of radio.

  9. ctray

I bought this for my son’s 2006 Cobalt and it fits perfectly. The DIC information display takes up quite a bit of space so we could not use the radio we had purchased with the large sreen and display which ended up saving us money in the end. If we had it all to do over again we would have found an install kit that would have worked for the larger radio. Way too much money for the kit but that’s what they cost everywhere.

For the price I was hoping for better quality buy i was slightly dissapointed. The lcd screen looks cheap but I didn’t return it because i had geek squad install it and was really looking forward to having a bluetooth radio in my car.

  11. Kurt

This was for my son’s Pontiac G6 and it fit perfect.

  12. mralex96

I purchased this unit for my 06′ Malibu. It came with everything I needed minus the aftermarket radio and an antenna for the radio. The buttons on the unit have to be pushed forcibly to get a reaction but other than those minor issues, it’s amazing

  13. Smilo

I wanted to upgrade the factory stereo in my G6, but the driver information center was built into the factory radio. With this kit you keep that functionality. Good fit and look. I do wish you could change the color of the back lighting to match the rest. Pontiac gave one choice, red and the kit’s only option is ice blue.

  14. Trice

The kit makea it possible for me to have such a great stereo put in my G6

  15. JimInMN

After my stock radio died in my 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, I needed to replace it but the driver information center was integrated in the stereo. So, I purchased a stereo and this kit to replace the stock equipment.

Geek Squad did a great job with the installation of the kit and my new stereo. I’ve had it since Memorial Day. Unfortunately, the buttons on the Metra kit are not very responsive, forcing me to keep hitting it to advance to the next information item. They definitely don’t perform as the original DIM unit did. For $200, I had a higher expectations. Also, the time is 30 minutes off and no matter what I do, it still is behind.

My experience may be specific to the unit I received. I am going to go back and see what can be done with it. Otherwise, it looks ok. If a friend needed to replace their GM stock radio, I would tell them to get it. I don’t know of any other option.

My review does not reflect negatively on the high quality work of Geek Squad. That was A+ and all future technology installations I need in the future will be with them.

  16. batboy

I like this adapter but the buttons are soft and you really have to push to scroll through information center.

  17. AnnetteM

Works great. Love it. Allowed me to have a nicer radio installed.

  18. mondomon2k2l

My girlfriend needed it for her new cd player to help install it.

  22. Boone64

Just wish the buttons for info board was easier to push

  23. malibumark

The kit looks good, no complaints about that but what I don’t get is how to set the clock

  24. Bren

Looks nice in its new home. I like it. Looks like a different car.

  25. Darrin

This kit works well for keeping your info. available in our G6 GT which has the info. in the factory radio. Haven’t had any issues so far it is in our daughter’s car and we installed a nice single din Pioneer with it.

  26. cpoff123
