Maytagfan –
Maytag MVWX655DW purchased 4/2019. No mechanical issues to report as of yet. Unlike some of the other post my washer operates quietly. However, I find that due to water efficiency feature, and not having a built in agitator, my whites and sheets are drying with some spots. The sheet setting fills the washer with water so I think the lack of a agitator does not allow the fabric enough motion to get really clean. Perhaps this issue applies to darks as well, unable to advise due to color. Always been a huge fan of Maytag but I must admit this machine is a Debbie downer. Clothes need an agitator, people not so much. Also, not a fan of the push start/pause button. That will be first to fail in time and costly to replace. My next Maytag Washer will definitely have a clothes agitator.
Michael –
This washer is useless, forget about washing your sheets and just about everything else, even with the extra rinse there are tiny spots of dirt all over left because the sheets all get bunched up. See the photo. Some cycles take 1 hour and 25 minutes, shameful.
Carol –
Inexpensive washer works well. I’ve used it for a year now with no problems. It does everything I need it to do.
Yael –
I purchased this washer March 2021, its August 2021 and I am already having issues. I have had two companies out and my issue is still not resolved. Clothes remain wringing wet at the end of every cycle there is no option to select the size of the load. Also I keep getting an unbalanced code so I absolutely nothing is being done to resolve the problem. I deeply regret purchasing this washer as I keep being told my washer can only be repaired and not replaced.
Henry –
The washer got broken after 2 years of use. Trying to get repair involved or to buy a new one.
OldBill –
Compared to the vintage 1986 agitator washer it replaced, this machine has been a disappointment, It’s temperamental, takes much longer than the old machine to complete a wash and sometimes doesn’t perform correctly at all. The machine senses the weight and balance of the load and if it decides it doesn’t like the way it’s been loaded, it might take a long, long time to finish the job. Or, as with a recent wash, leave the load sopping wet when done. Or, as it did a few month ago, simply stop and wait for you to figure out how to get it going again. My old machine didn’t care what you put in it or how it was loaded. This machine cares a lot about that, and if you don’t do it to its satisfaction the result can be very unpredictable (and not in a good way). I expect technology to improve things, not create problems that didn’t exist with the old technology, while providing little, if any, benefit in return.

I’ve had this washer already 4 years now, never had any major issues. only thing that I’ve noticed is that where the soap and fabric softener go it has developed a small amount a rust. This started happening a year into its age but it never has gotten worse or caused me any issues. It now shakes a lot but again it doesn’t cause any issues, well not enough for me to say this is a bad washer.
BigLex –
Purchased Dec 2019 broke August 2021. Won’t last you long. Make sure you get Geek Squad if you buy this item.
LP1968 –
This Maytag washer model won’t last that long. After three years, the oil is leaking underneath the washer. I do not have extended warranty from bestbuy. I used like a normal daily wash and I don’t overload or wash heavy items. I think this model has a defect on manufacturing or this is a customer return from Bestbuy. Maytag washer should not be america’s favotite.
Dward –
2 weeks in and 3 loads of laundry and this washer started leaking. Warranty repair guy came out and stated we were too harsh on it. Really! He repaired and a year later issue with seal again. Sent repair man out again and stated no issue. The machine now makes a loud noise when drum is cycling in wash. We should have returned when it broke 2 weeks in.
LaurenHaggard –
I’ve had this washer for well over a year now & no issues! It washes a ton of clothes, which is why I went with a top loader instead of a front loader. I can fit 2-3 weeks of mine and my boyfriends clothes in one load.
covergirl –
great washer, stays balanced and love there is no impeller to wring or rip my clothes. cleans clothes beautifully
Runaessa –
Would not recommend, failed after 2 weeks and it took another 12 months and many geek squad visits to conclude it was defective and had it replaced with an insignia
LOLA –
I absolutely hate this washer. It takes way too long to wash clothes. I had a mask get stuck in the filter and had to have someone come out in order for it to be removed. A lot of the other ones have access whete the owner can do it themselves. Will like to purchase one of those in the future.
Jorge –
Better than all the rest! Best washer I’ve ever owned. It can handle large loads with no problems.
Kita –
It will last three years before needing to be service so please buy the protection plan
Helper –
Washes cloth very well and quiet also. No problems
happy –
does a good job of cleaning the clothing. uses less water and soap……………..
Dawnticejames –
This is the most i ever spent on a washer i could do better washing in my tub and stumping with my feet do not buy ..what a piece of crap. Hardly no water doesn’t rinse out …cloths seem more dirty
monochromicon –
Great workhorse with Maytag Commercial Technology.
GreenHornet –
This machine never did perform well. It is now gone after 4 and a half years. During that time we repaired it to the tune of $279.00. Then the suspension mechanism broke. We put up with the noise and the machine walking around until the computer finally died. Thought we were buying quality but I guess Maytag is a name of old. We didn’t spend the extra $200 for extended warranty, didn’t think it would be necessary. Just try and get Maytag Corp. to assist. Got nowhere. Very little water, even in ‘deep water’ mode. Hence the clothes never really got clean. Really cant wash properly without water. Could go on and on about it’s substandard performance. Just take my word, DO NOT BUY!
Garbage –
Horrible expensive purchase. Owned 15 months 2 main boards broke with a total of 3 of those 15 months waiting on parts. Horrible piece of crap.
developer –
Great waster at a great price. The space it takes up is minimal and the capacity is quite large. It does everything we need for our laundry for a family of 5. If clothes get shifted to one side during the wash, the washer will shake and move all over the place.
Maytag –
I had my old (Maytag) washer for 22 years before it gave out. No other issues in-between. This washer has been a problem since about 6 months after I bought it. Sometimes it doesn’t sense well and the clothes don’t get very wet. Now after one year it frequently leaves marks on the clothes and it doesn’t spin the water out very well. I would never recommend this machine.
Dianne –
Do not believe the reviews. I received the Bravo MCT (Maytag Commercial Technology) set as a housewarming gift (and I was asked what brand I wanted I wanted and I said only a Maytag, [I have always used Maytags since getting married in ’84]). From the time I got the washer, if it didn’t have a full load, it wouldn’t spin out that great. I said “ok, its called ‘Commercial’ maybe my loads need to be bigger” so that’s what I did. I have had this set for between 3-4 years. Then slowly, the machine was spinning poorly, no matter what size load of wash I did. I noticed that the drum seemed to be spinning a bit lopsided so it couldn’t get up to a high speed spin so I would run it through the spin cycle 3-4-5 times to get it dry enough to put in the matching dryer. I called my repairman and his response was “piece of junk, don’t put any money into it, its going to be one thing after another, this set is notorious for issues”. So I had a friend look at it, he used to work for an appliance company but he did high end appliances like Fisher Paykel, etc… he took it apart last week for me and said the same thing, “junk” … the drum that sits on whatever spins it is plastic and that piece sits on metal so the metal has chewed away the plastic at the bottom of the drum. 3-4 year old Maytag and its sitting out in my driveway with a sign on it that says “FREE! SCRAP”… I have someone coming by in an hour or so to pick it up. Probably 100 people at least have driven by, I hope they see the Maytag out there with the “SCRAP” sign on it… I am sworn off of Maytag’s after this! Maytag should be ashamed for the products they are putting out now. I will go with a Whirlpool or a Speed Queen next time around. Actually I am using the old washer that came with my house, it has an agitator inside of it and it is still running so that will work until I replace my ‘Scrap Maytag’. PS. The matching dryer to my Maytag? It does dry the items BUT, I have to set a timer to keep track of the time. I put a dryer load in and the dryer says 45 minutes, I set my timer on my stove, go down and grab the dry clothing after 45 minutes and the dryer timer says ’44’ minutes left on the clock… ugh!
Niamh –
Doesn’t put enough water to cover clothes. Some are almost dry through entire washing. Handwash cycle didn’t even cover bottom of tub. Having to rinse and spin three times to get the water out of the clothes. Three years of this and I’m going to use this washer for target practice on my farm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Total Rip-off!!!!!!!!!!!!
melgal12 –
Avoid this washer at all costs. And don’t believe the fake “good” reviews.
We bought this washer & a matching dryer in 2019. It has been a nightmare. We’ve had to replace the basket hub kit a total of 12 times. It goes out about once a week. It is RIDICULOUS. Not to mention the washer itself does not wash clothes well at all. After a cycle, we get our clothes out and some parts are still dry! It rips and tears our clothes up too. They come out so twisted together and wrinkled. We are scrapping it this week and getting a totally different brand.
Broke –
This Maytag washing machine lasted 4 years. Don’t buy it. The 10-year warranty is really for the motor. Too bad the gear stripped.
Serene –
This is a lousy washer. I have had it two years, and it is very unreliable. It frequently refuses to spin, and does not complete the cycle. The spin only cycle triggers another wash. If I want to use it, I can only use like 5 pieces of clothing or it loses its balance, and leaves clothing soaking wet. It is very frustrating. I will be replacing it soon.
NeighborMows –
I have had the washer for less than 2 years. A few months ago, the water pump would constantly run even when water wasn’t in the machine. Every now and then, the machine would go through some sort of reset cycle. The machine would then work for a couple day before having the same problem.
Now the machine will not work and says there is a board error. Machine fills with water and the water pump runs at the same time.

The Best Washer That We Ever Bought. And Its Very Efficiencie
MaytagMeh –
Homeboy isn’t even three years old yet and it’s had issues with its drum components. Turns out you can’t put too much in it and it doesn’t even know how to deal with items like sheets or it seriously, and like literally, goes out of whack. How do you know? Because it goes BANG! BANG! BANG! and the whole unit moves around the laundry room. I asked the repair dude if this is a thing with this brand and he was like, “Yeah.” Oh well, the quest for the perfect washing machine continues. At least it’s less expensive than an iPhone.
pitbullmom –
This washer only lasted 3 years and THANKFULLY I had Geek Squad protection!
Simple –
Our Maytage Washer had a part that needed replaced. It was determined the part was not available. Washer was replaced with equivlant washer under Insurance Replacement Plan we purchased with Best Buy. Excellant service in the replacement procedures.
rjhano –
Works well very efficient, would highly recommend to a friend
PhilipM –
We have had the Bravos mct washer for 3 years and are very disappointed. Regardless of what they say, there just is not enough water to properly wash a heavy load. We have to wash with small loads to get clothes clean which results in more time and energy. I have resorted to putting a bucket or two of extra water in the tub to help the washer do the job. My old washer in our vacation home works much better than this piece junk.
JenniferS –
Lasted about 2 years got to the 1 year mark had to have repaired then 6 months later the 3 months after that now 3 weeks after the last. The repairman tild me to buy a new washer these are junk! The transmission which isnt covered after a year is bad and causing all the issues
CharlesM –
Over 2 years since we bought the washer and still going strong.
Promorat –
Transmission blew in first 4 years…the 10 year warranty only covers thebparts that never break. Now shopping a new washer.
Beonka26 –
I purchase this washer and started having issues within the first year I had it. It would shake like it was hitting something. It was serviced and still had issues. Now after the warranty ended it takes 2 hours to wash and sometimes stays on sensing. I had to buy a new one because it is running up my light. DO NOT RECOMMEND MAYTAG.
Andrew –
The photos I posted with this review are with the DEEP WATER WASH selected. The water doesn’t even cover the tiny agitator! There’s like 2.5 inches of water at the bottom. What a literal piece trash. NOT recommended whatsoever.
Bond –
Lasted less than 4 years- Make sure you get a Warranty and keep it where you can find it! The Geek Squad Warranty may not cover your washer.
Ginger –
We bought this model on 10-26-19. The transmission has now gone out and it is 3 1/2 years old. The transmission is not covered under the 10 year Drive Motor (Stator and Rotor Only) warranty. We are a 2 adult household. I would not recommend Maytag.
Mikki –
I really like my Maytag washer. I’ve had it now for 6 years. The only issue is occasionally it gets stuck in spin cycle & doesn’t complete the cycle without me intervening. It usually just on larger cycles.
JeannetteC –
Will not stay balanced. Fabric softener dispenser stopped working
Atokes –
I purchased this appliance 5 years ago, now it’s broken! I also purchased extended warranty with whirlpool , owners of Maytag and was told it can not be fixed. Maytag is meant to be a good brand and should last minimum of 10-13 yrs but this did not!! Do not buy this appliance.
Also be careful with Whirlpools AGI Insurance for extended warranty. There have been numerous complaints from consumers of them refusing to pay claims and fix products when needed. A technician of theirs finally came to my home after about 6 weeks to supposedly fix my appliance but broke the parts into pieces and left, only for warranty people to call me that the machine can not be fixed. They then offered a miserly amount, like 1/4 of the cost price as buy out!! Not happy!!!
DariuisP –
Only lasted barely 5 years, current repairs about the cost of a new one. When it ran, it cleaned well – too many plastic parts where there should have been metal. If you purchase this, get the 5 year protection plan for it.
jodic –
Have had for almost 5 years now. Still works like new.
LoriA –
Worse machine ever. Will NEVER buy another Maytag. Got this machine in 2019 after having to replace my Whirlpool that I had for 15+ years. First thing that went was fabric softener dispenser, it stopped working after about 2 years. Now one of the shocks is shot because of clothes are the slightest off balance it bangs so loud it sounds like it will break apart. So now besides having to manually go downstairs and add the softener I have to babysit it in case it’s off balance. Stop machine, redistribute clothes and start machine again. It also at times will just random cycle and I have to reset the whole machine. Service SUCKS. I’m not paying 1/2 of what I paid to have a 4 year old machine repaired. Maytag you SUCK. NEVER AGAIN. What happened to quality?
MamaLlama –
I previously had a Maytag washer I loved…but it was very old and eventually broke. I decided to go with another Maytag but to my own fault did not do enough research and ended up with this piece of junk! My clothes do not come out clean…even on the heaviest soil setting…even half full! I simply cannot load this washer more than 1/4 full and have to line the sides of the washer with the clothes (not clothes directly in the middle)….I’ve learned this is the best way to get them somewhat clean. It a big pain and I am CONSTANTLY doing laundry since I can’t fill even half full. The black clothes always come out with grey residue. The tide pods DONT dissolved. And last but certainly not least…it makes the clothes so wrinkly when they come out! I’ve never had a washer that makes the clothes this wrinkled!! Overall….i hate this washer and can’t wait until it breaks so I have a reason to buy a new one
