- The MartinLogan Sound
Regardless of the environment, MartinLogan speakers achieve high levels of articulation, detail, and realism. Utilizing exotic thin film technologies and Controlled Dispersion, MartinLogan provides unique and special listening experiences not commonly found in the industry. - Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeters
The state-of-the-art thin-film Gen2 FMT offers effortless performance, unmatched by conventional technologies. Utilizing a lightweight material with more surface area, the FMT brings the audience’s favorite content to life with extreme levels of detail and accuracy. - Motion Waveguide
Enhances the Controlled Dispersion of the Gen2 Folded Motion Tweeter, blanketing the listening area with incredible detail and precision. Avoids performance robbing room reflections and provides a more consistent sound across a wider seating area. - Controlled Dispersion
Room acoustics are vital, as everything in the listening room has an impact on speaker performance. MartinLogan minimizes these harmful effects by focusing the sound into the listening area, increasing flexibility, clarity, and placement options, regardless of the room’s design. - Woven Fiberglass Midrange
The lightweight and strong Woven Fiberglass midrange in the Motion series is perfectly suited for keeping pace with Motion’s Gen2 FMT, providing crystal clear dialogue and vocals, as well as lifelike instrumentals. - McCracken-Vojtko Crossovers
The culmination of combining extensive anechoic, in-room measurements, and multiple blind listening tests with the low distortion philosophy of MartinLogan’s signature Vojtko Crossover. Through this process each speaker was refined to achieve peak performance. - Enchanced Cabinet Bracing
If a speaker cabinet isn’t braced properly, it will vibrate or resonate, resulting in masked clarity and detail. This 4th generation Motion series features specially engineered bracing to maximize sound quality by minimizing unwanted vibrations and resonances. - Secure Lock Grilles
Stealth mounting tabs securely hold the grilles in place allowing the listener to customize the appearance of each speaker. Creating a unique look; leaving the grilles on, off, or even rotating them to change the grain of the fabric providing maximum aesthetic control. - Single Cannon Bass Ports
Rear ported speaker designs need ‘room to breathe,’ which can conflict with a room’s layout or decor as they require ample spacing from a wall or cabinet. The bottom mount port provides deeper, cleaner, and more powerful bass across a wider range of placement options. - Floor-Bounce Compensation
Bringing studio reference sound to reality with precision woofer placement and crossover tuning, MartinLogan engineers have designed their tower models to produce a more natural and full sound by taking advantage of a constant found in all listening rooms; the floor! - F.A.S.T. Foot
Toolless height adjustability utilizing rubber feet or spikes allows the user to perfectly level the speaker for maximum stability on any floor. Built-in anti-vibration properties lower distortion by reducing ‘judders’ between the speaker and the floor, leaving nothing but pure sound.

Mistabritt –
So we just received our new Martin Logan Motion Series F20 3-Way Tower Speakers a few days ago and have been putting these bad boys through their paces. First off, get someone to help with setting these up because although they are extremely nice, they are pretty heavy as well. They come in 3 different colors: Gloss Black, Satin White, and Walnut. We chose to go with the Gloss Black, which is very sleek, and matches the rest of our aesthetic décor in our main living room. We love the mirror like finish on these speakers. Opening the speakers up are pretty straightforward, though I opened .up the wrong end on the first speaker. But if you follow instructions and actually “read” the writing on box you should be good. Opening up the boxes on the bottom allows you to attach the feet before flipping it right side up to where they are ready to be connected. Just looking at the speakers before connecting them, we were just in awe of the strong build quality and craftsmanship of the speakers. Once we got the feet attached and the speakers upright we simply popped on the banana plugs onto the back of the speakers at the bottom and into the corresponding terminals on the back of our Sony STR-DH790. These speakers are replacing an old set of non-tower speakers from an old bookshelf style CD player that we had about 10 years ago. Man oh man, when we finally got the chance to power up our receiver with the newly installed MartinLogan Motion F20 speakers, we were blown away. The of bass and clarity and all around surround sound was truly epic. Nothing sounded muffled at all, just crisp, clean, and clear sound. It felt as though we were actually finally getting true surround sound. We loaded up one of our favorite action movies and it was as if we were in the middle of all the action on-screen. To hear the different sounds was amazing. Next we switched them over from movies to music and was just as impressed. Like, we could hear the different instruments and sounds in songs we hadn’t heard before (not to mention the lyrics were a lot clearer as well). We’ve had people ask if we were at the movies a couple of times when they called us. That’s how awesome these speakers sound. In addition to the accessories box, which housed the feet and attachment screws, MartinLogan also included a dust cover for each speaker. You can tell just how much MartinLogan believes in their products and want their consumers to help protect and take care of their products for a long time. I highly recommend these speakers if you’re in the market for some new speakers to add-on or replace other speakers in your setup. I promise you wont be disappointed. So far, there’s nothing we can say about these speakers that we don’t like. They’re just amazing.

Pro:
-Clear detailed sound
-Bi-Wire connection optional
-Include cover sheet
Con:
-Bass news subwoofer to supplement
-Need to be in a big space
Packaging and setup
These speakers are heavy and may need some help moving them in place. Following the instructions on the box, and opening the box from the bottom, attach the feet and flip it over. You can either connect it with a standard single wire connection using the top poles or, if your receiver has the option, use a bi-wire connection. These are big speakers and sound best when set about 10’ away from the listener.
Audio Quality
I have these hooked up to an average home AVR, the Sony STR-DN 1080. Overall the sound clarity is just amazing. They have clear and detailed mids and highs, filling the space as if you’re center stage. It’s lacking on the bass and needs a subwoofer to add more punch to the sound.
Sound stage, to be cliche, really does sound as if you’re right there on center stage. You can clearly hear sounds entering at different positions of the stage, from the subtle taps to the impactful beats.
Midrange is fantastic. Vocals are distinct and all the subtle detailed sounds of the mouth, from the clicking of the tongue to quick gasps of breath, can clearly be heard. The singer sounds as if they’re right next to you.
Low Range is a bit weaker. The presence is there and still audible but it lacks impact. It’s good enough to hear the percussions or rumbling sound effects, but it really needs a subwoofer to fill in the sound.
These speakers have great dynamic range as well. From the quiet build out of the cymbals to the sudden burst of drums, these speakers can easily handle them.
As a part of a surround sound set up for movies, these make my living room sound more like being in a small theater. Even with my underpowered receiver, it fills my room with the range and impactful punch of an action movie and all the quiet details during calmer scenes. With the size of my room, keeping the volume at 20% was more than enough.
If you’re looking for a higher end audio, then these speakers will serve you well. It’s best to pair them with a beefy receiver to really get the best out of these speakers, but they will still work with most standard 6-8 ohm AVR. Even by themselves, they sound amazing, but adding a subwoofer will fill in the gap for the bass. I now want to upgrade all my other speakers to match these.
