We needed a down-to-earth type phone – A PHONE!! This fits the bill exactly. No passwords or different keys to punch to make a phone call. Just open the case and make a call! Perfect!

This seems a great phone, just don’t buy it at Best Buy.
I bought the phone for my 90 year old mother. I was able to complete the entire transaction without her input including, I thought, porting the number she has used for 20 years from my T-Mobile account.
Part of the transaction included providing a Pin code to complete the transaction I told the rep I don’t have a Pin code and asked if she meant my account pin code and she said yes so I entered it. She said the transaction was fine, gave me temp number for the phone, told us the actual number would appear in 24-48 hours and sent us on our way
48 hours later, the number still had not ported over so I called T-Mobile and found out it’s actually a line porting pin code. No error was generated by Best Buy, Lively or T-Mobile so the request to port didn’t go through.
I am now back in TN and my 90 year old mother in CA will have to take care of this as I am not on her Lively account. We are in danger of losing the only number her family and friends know.

My Mom has been a flip phone user her entire life and was devastated when the 3G deactivation occurred. Since then, her physical and cognitive health has declined.
I’ve tried every brand of basic flip phone and both smartphone operating systems. I thought for sure that the lively flip phone would work for her.
The phone’s main menu is customizable and looks pretty simple. The keys are large and backlit. Screen size is excellent and resolution is ok.
My mom’s primary issue with the phone is that she tries touching the screen instead of using the keys. I already know what you’re thinking… I should get her a smartphone.
I agree. This is the only issue I have with Lively. They market their products specifically for seniors and the “not-so-tech-savy,” but, they aren’t willing to do any type of swap or trade-in for their smartphone version.
So, I do recommend the phones they currently sell. Make sure to not only pick the best model for you or your loved one’s preference, but be sure of the return policies. Lively isn’t very philanthropic when it comes to providing the best for its customers’ needs.

My buying experience was outstanding — thank you, Jordan! The phone is exactly what I wanted. I believe they now call them “dumb phones”…suits me fine, I’m into reading and thinking. The only minor issue I have is the battery life. From a full charge, left on, but closed, it only lasts a day. I’ll just have to make sure I have a charger in the car, which is the only time I really need the phone.

After purchasing this phone for my husband who is in a long-term care facility, I found out out that monthly fees from the state are almost the price of a month’s usage fee. If you live on a fixed income and every penny counts, make sure to explore all fees levied by your state before activating.

Needed an easy to use mobile phone without the bells and whistles. This was it. Grandma doesn’t see very well and is a little shaky. It was easy to program the phone for speed dial numbers and she has a large print “menu” of which number calls who to help out. Answering and “hanging up” by simply opening and closing the phone are the intuitive steps she needs. I see some of the older reviews calling out the lack of these features so Lively must be listening. She’ll never use it to take a picture or exchange a text so can’t speak to that. Phone and plan was easy to get set up and get connected and economical. Met our needs.

Phone was a “rinky-dink type system. Would work like instruction said some of the time and not other times. When my friends found out I was trying to use the system, they would discourage me because their elderly friend/family wasn’t a bit pleased and would end up taking the phone back. Bought phone for my father, love the size of buttons but wish phone would be easier to make a simple phone call. Yes you can have contacts on speed dial, however not everyone in your contacts will be out on speed dial. When you select a contact you have to press ok like 4 times before you can place the call. Other than that phone works good and volume a great as well.
