I did a lot of research on washing machines, and decided to go with the LG brand after reading reviews and about the direct drive system that LG uses. I have to say that after 2 weeks of almost daily use, I don’t have one complaint! This currently sits on the floor, and haven’t had problems with vibrations at all. Yes, when it spins you can tell it’s spinning, but nothing that I would consider excessive. This machine uses FAR less water than my old top loading agitator model, and the clothes come our smelling clean and fresh. This one has fewer cycles, but I don’t miss them at all. Personally, I wouldn’t use the other cycles anyway. As much as one can love a washing machine, I LOVE IT!

The washer uses very little water, which is a plus. But my clothes are coming out all fuzzy and the stitching coming apart, even with new clothes, and run on a normal cycle. The color of my fabrics is also fading very quickly and this is very disturbing to me. The washer is really easy to use and convenient, however the wear and tear on my clothes made me decide to send it back.

The LG washer was a warranty replacement for a GE that after only 5 years had to be replaced. So far, the LG is out performing the GE and hopefully will last twice as long as the GE.

I was very excited to buy brand new appliances and begin using them. Less than 1 month after delivery we starteed to get error codes. The tub would not spin. It made nosie as if it was trying but was stuck. Very hard to turn manually as well. Obviously it is under warranty and with numerous calls and resets the company had to order 2 new parts!! I had to do laundry at a laundry mat and family’s house for 2 weeks before it was actually fixed. LG’s service company had to come in from out of state and it always took them 2 days to come after making the appointment! They ended up replacing a stator and a main board. Very unsettling considering the product is less than 1 month old! Just got fixed this week. We will see how long it lasts. May want to consider another brand.

The washer was a great value and I love how quiet and effiecient it is. Two compliants about the product. The first is the odor that seems to come from it. I have cleaned it twice and done all the proper maintenance on the machine but the odor lingers. Secondly, the washer’s child lock does not stop a child from shutting off the unit while it is in the middle of a cycle. My two year old seems to be able to find that button every time he enters the room. Other than that it is a great washer and I am enjoying doing laundry again.

I spent many days reviewing ALL the information about washers that I could find before making this purchase so I feel very well informed. I’ve had the washer for about three weeks now and couldn’t be more pleased! It’s a great machine!
Previously we’d been using a top loader located on the second floor of our house. That machine would actually cause the upstairs of the house to vibrate slightly when it went into the spin cycle so naturally, having read of vibration problems with some other machines, I was concerned. Well this LG does none of that even though it is spinning very much faster than the old top loader.
The benefit of the higher spin speed (i.e. – dryer clothes right out of the washer) is fantastic! Although the setting that we’ve been using doesn’t even apply the maximum spin speed that the machine is capable of producing, the clothes come out so much drier that the time in the dryer has been literally cut in half.
Our old top loader was a typically sized machine and although this new LG is only about middle-of-the-road capacity (3.7 sq. ft.) the amount of clothes it can comfortably wash is significantly more. For example, in the past when washing a set of queen sized sheets, you could only add a couple of towels into the top loader without risking having it not wash properly. This new one holds the full set of sheets along with a basket full of other clothes – no problem. In fact I’m looking forward to washing the mattress pad and/or down comforter at home because in the past I’ve had to go to a commercial laundry.
I really enjoy the auto-detect feature in which you don’t have to choose the load size (small, medium, large, etc.). Instead you just load it up with whatever amount you have to wash, select the cycle that you’d like to use (perm. press, cotton/normal, delicates, etc) and push the “start” button. The machine will somehow weight the amount of clothes that you’ve loaded in and supply the correct amount of water – pretty amazing.
A great deal has been written about how front loading machines can develop a mold or mildew problem. Apparently this tendency applies equally to any of the front loaders because the bottom of the rubber door gasket will tend to collect water. Well, so far, we’re having no problem with this and I don’t think I will because I’m following the preventative suggestions that I’ve read about. First, this machine has some improvements that have been made to cure this issue in that the door has a little magnet that allows it to be not completely closed so that it can dry out between uses. Also, they’ve created a special cycle called “tub clean” that you’re supposed to run about once per month. In addition to these improvements, as an extra precaution, I purchased some stuff called “Smelly Washer Cleaner” that I plan on using when I run the “tub clean” cycle. So far I’ve seen no tendency toward any mold or mildew so I may be going into ‘overkill’ mode, but I figure that doing this one extra low cost step is worth the minimal amount of trouble just to be sure.
Finally, in the personal opinion department, my analysis of all the machines out there led me to believe that the difference between my $ 550 ~ $ 650 machine and those high end models with “steam clean” and twice as many cycle choices isn’t worth the extra cost. It looks to me that the main steps in the cleaning process of tumbling clothes around and then spinning them dry is really being done in essentially the same way regardless of whether the machine is near the bottom of the line or the top.

It’s a bit expensive, but it does what it’s supposed to do, and you can’t ask for much more than that.

This is my first front loading machine.
Things I like
– saves water
– can wash larger loads
– clothes are clean and “dry”
– has all the cycles that you could want
Things that are different but I have gotten use to
– normal wash cycles are nearly an hour long (quick cycles are 30 minutes)
Things I didn’t like
– over time the washer developed a smell. Now Tide has a wash machine cleaner. Now that I have started using the Tide cleaner once a month – there are no more smell issues.
Things I would recommend
– If you have your wash machine in a basement, I would highly recommend getting the pedestal. I provides storage and it also will protect you if you happen to have a sewer backup or some type of water pipe issue — sure was glad I had the pedestal when I came back from vacation and found 6 inches of water in the basement!

This washer replaced an old top load whirlpool. This uses less water (great for my septic), and gets the clothes cleaner, better smelling and whiter. I love this washer. The only complaint is that it did cause some knocking in the pipes, was easily fixed with a 10 dollar device from menards.

This is my first LG and my first front loader. Chose LG because of the great reviews here. Chose front loader because, well, it seems like the way to go. So far (2 months) no problems. Cycles seem longish but I guess that’s because of the low water use. Some of the settings aren’t defined anywhere: I suppose I can deduce the difference between cold and tap cold, but what about warm and ecowarm? I leave the door and the detergent drawer open when it’s not in use, but I also bought some of the tub cleaner just in case. The optional stand is a must.

I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY NEW WASHER. WAS NOT SURE IF I WOULD LIKE A FRONT LOADING MACHINE, BUT IT IS GREAT.
YOUR PEOPLE DID EXACTLY WHAT THEY PROMICED TO DO AND WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL.

I have only had it for a short time, but I like it a lot. Very easy to operate. Like the large capacity. LG has a good reputation, so I hope it lives up to it. Nothing at this time to complain a lot.

this product works very well but can be loud at times, great energy saver!

I did considerable research before purchasing this washer. There are positive and negative comments about all products on the internet, and this statement holds true about this brand/model of washer. My comments, though are all positive. I have been using the washer for just over one month with no problems encountered. The device is easy to use, and gets the clothes clean (Duhhh! Its a washer). The final spin is at an RPM which removes water and has greatly reduced the amount of time needed in the dryer step. My laundry room is in a room of it’s own therefore noises mentioned by others have not been noticed by me. Yes, it takes longer for a wash cycle to complete compared to my 13 year old GE that bit the dust. But the advantage is, this machine is computerized and that says it’s smarter than me when it comes to determining how much a load weighs, how much water to use, etc. I’m in central Florida where mold can easily be a problem. I have not noticed any odors that are reported by others on the internet, perhaps this is because I have followed the instructions in the owners manual which is well written.

Had this washing machine about 1 month, and it is running smoothly – no issues at all. Clothes come out squeaky clean!

This washer is awsome clothes come out cleaner and not destroyed or beat up or all twisted . The clothes just look so much better after washed and dried. It is very quiet and I highly recomend this washer to anyone looking to purchase one and not only that never will I go back to a top load. THANKS LG

I have had my LG front loader for approx. 1 mon. now. I do 7-10 loads a week. This is my 2nd LG front load washer. The first only lasted 7 yrs. The bearings went out. I loved the LG so much I bought another newer model. In 7 yrs I only had one repair which was minor that I caused because I wasn’t using HE detergent. Hopefully this washer lasts longer. I was disappointed that I had to buy a new pedestal though. The one I had previously would not attach to the new model. The newer pedestals are larger and can hold more than the old. I just wish I would of had an option to keep my old one. The only negative I can say at this point is that the wash cycles are longer and the machine is noisier than my previous machine. As far as cleaning our clothes…it does a great job. I love the new feature of the magnet in the door so it will stay open a crack to air out and not stink. The magnet allows the door to stay open just enough to let air in but is basically closed so it doesn’t get in the way of the doors that lead to my laundry room.

Love the washer. It spins the clothes a lot better than my old top load, so I have to dry as long. Didn’t buy the pedestal because it was $200. Don’ t need it.

We did buy this product as an open box, but protected with GSP. Initially after installation we had problems with loud clicking noises and after multiple repair visits, we finally were instructed that the repair would be more costly than replacing with a new washer. At the end I believe the problem was the tub kept hitting on the door and was having suspension problems. I also did not like the front loading aspect because after about 1 year of use it began to have the moldy scent. I always left the door open after use to air dry, and cleaned the tub occasionally.
