The software worked and moved everything from the old computer to the new. It did take a great deal of time (overnight) to complete the process.

The three stars are for the overall experience. The software itself, once installed and functioning properly, was 4+ stars.
I ordered this software through Best Buy because it was $10 cheaper than anywhere else. Within two hours of ordering I was sent a link by Best Buy, and that’s where the fun began.
The link didn’t work, necessitating an online chat with Best Buy support. That went nowhere, so a call was required. The agent was able to get me a second link, direct from the manufacturer, and that link worked and I installed the software.
Ran the software, and it kept getting hung up at the exact same spot on three attempts. Called LapLink support and spent an hour on the phone with the rep, who was unable to solve the problem and sent it to the “escalation team”. I was told they would respond in 24 hours…they didn’t. Received a cryptic e-mail from their support about how they were unable to duplicate the problem 48 hours later.
Called LapLink support again and the agent told me they discovered a bug that was causing the exact same problem I was having and had me uninstall/reinstall. After that I was able to run the application and do a full data transfer.
The entire process took five days from the date of order. I could have transferred the data manually in that time.

I had to rely on customer support to get both computers to download the necessary software. Once it finally did, it worked fine to transfer files seamlessly. Took about 12 hours to complete.

I have used this software a number of times. It seems to do a very good job of moving programs so one does not have to reinstall them. Have patience though it can take a long time.
Cyberscan –
Worked as advertised. It transferred all my files as well as applications. It took a while, but well worth it!

Purchased Digital software, BB provided link. I spent the first 5 hours trying to get it to work, Attempted to correspond with CSR Chat. Told me 8 mins and 100 people ahead of me. I would dump out when it was past an hour waiting and low and behold when I would try chat again, the SAME 8 mins and 100 people were ahead of me… Tried calling the next day. Left after 3 hours on HOLD!!! Worst experience I have ever had,,, NEVER GOT TO DOWNLOAD MY SOFTWARE..

Software may work but don’t know because I can’t download it. And can’t get any help from bestbuy.
noncimputer –
Didn’t move everything I wanted, or some that I wanted turned up non-functional
TechsavvyGreg –
Download link didn’t work. Spent about 20 minutes waiting for customer service rep. They were supposed to get back to me and never did. Finally got the manufacturer to let me download the program. Activation code did work and the software worked fine. Just to much hassle getting to that point.

The software was a bit difficult to follow ales you had used it before and is set up for a single drive to drive, which means old computer ( c driver ) to new computer ( c driver ) if your new computer has it’s drives divided in to two drives ( one for programs and one for Data storage ) then the you really need to read the transfer information. Would not recommend it, jus didn’t seam to be as smooth a data transfer as I had hoped.
should had read more reviews before ordering.
aailaw –
Downloaded the app and with ease was able to transfer everything from my old computer to the new computer. The only thing is it was for a one-time transfer.
Jazziz –
Too many issues with downloading and Best Buy. Ended up getting a refund and going to the manufacturer to download.
Helpful7 –
While it won’t move 100% of apps, I find this useful for many PC upgrades, especially when the user wants to replicate their old setup as much as possible, this does it and saves time.
Trplaxel3 –
This worked better than expected. Easy set up. Highly recommend.
rlmva –
It would not work wirelessly. I fortunately had a cable from a prior installation.
Techfan –
I just didn’t have much luck with this product. I used wifi and after seven chats with customer service and several days of trying, I gave up and used an external hard drive instead. That was a better option. I also abandoned transferring applications and only transferred data files. In the end, it would have been easier just to copy the files to the HDD directly. PC Mover really didn’t make it any easier.

PC Mover Professional does everything it advertises quickly and efficiently. I was very impressed!!
DDave –
Works as advertised. I moved 198 gigabytes from my old to new computer without a problem.
Sandie –
Loved the ease of transferring files. I did need to physically connect computers because it was taking way too long for transfer. Not everything is copied but most is.
m300michael –
This is probaby the best data moving software I have every used. It basically moved everything from my old computer to the new one, including my Office items on Access and Excel. In the past I would have to re-install Office Professional. Not this time!!
RonW –
This program did everything is said it would do. It transferred all my programs and files to my new laptop. It was the best and easiest way to do this on my own without paying a professional.
great program would use it again for sure!

The process was seamless. I let it run overnight when the estimated time kept increasing. It took seven hours but transferred all of my programs and data. I had to manually move explorer favorite places but the passwords did not transfer. altogether efficient.
JayS –
Excellent product for migration data and applications from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I bought 3 copies of PCmover to copy 3 PCs. The first two moves were perfect. When I booted up the new PCs they looked and worked just like the respective old PCs.
The third PC was a problem. When the copy completed the new PC would not boot. After a couple tries, the PC offered me several options for trying to comlete the boot. The only option that would result in a boot-up was to reset to the “last good configuration.” When that boot completed I found that only files had been copied…no Start Menu, no apps, no Desktop. I called LapLink support for help (you can’t re-run a copy…it
s a one-time deal). I gave control of my PC to the tech rep and she made a bunch of adjustments and uninstalls, then kicked off the copy process again. She ended the call by telling me to reboot the new PC when the copy completed. I ended up in the same no-boot situation I had been in the first time. I’ve asked for a refund for this copy of PCmover but LapLink has not responded.
Nisse –
Easy to use. Can select what to transfer if not wanting to copy everything. It warns about programs that may not transfer properly. Did a win7 to win 10 transfer of programs and data. With 400GB it takes like 10hours using wifi. A cabel would been faster. Did not have one s used wifi. Notice the program gets locked to the used computers but do not see this as an issue.
Stayaway –
Absolutely the worst product on the Market!!!! Then when you ask for assistance You get the following “ Did You purchase Our Cable ? No, there’s the start of your problem “ Customer assistance should be labeled “ Lack of Customer Assistance “. Money would have better been given to a homeless individual.

Worked so much better than I expected. Took only about an hour to complete. Would have taken me many hours doing it manually.
NotHappy –
If I could rate this software at ZERO Stars, I would. Total failure after 4 attempts. Wasted a whole day, failure after failure. Followed all instructions, nothing easy about it. 30 day Money Back Guarantee NOT, contacted Customer Support regarding that topic, No response. Transferred PC faster by hand than this software DIDN’T. $29.99 flushed down the lap-link toilet.

I wrestled with a review on this software. In the right situations, it’s great, but for my use it largely failed. I was trying to help a coworker move to a new computer – and she uses a software that we can not find install media for. It’s been a pain to try to move it to the new computer. So, for a couple of bucks, I thought we’d give this a try. It grabbed 90% of the computer and transitioned it to the new machine, but it missed that needed piece of software. So, if you’re only using for ease and you can find install media, I’d say this is worth a try. If you have a problem program that you absolutely must move to a new pc, I will wish you luck, but it might not work.

Spent HOURS on the phone with their help desk and they still couldn’t get it to work. Waste of my money, and my time.
DianeR –
I looked at many reviews for all different products like these, then decided to try this one. It was so easy and I am very happy with how quick it was! Great product!
Robert –
Excellent software and great service. I called support on the phone and was very pleased with the service. I would recommend this software to others.
Beaumar821 –
Not worth the money. My backup of old computer was more reliable.
lyncomputer –
Great product, i use it all the time to move my HD from one computer to another
LanceV –
I was able to move the majority of the old computer’s programs and settings with no major issues. However, there were certain specialized programs that were required to be removed completely and reinstalled from the original vendor, then move the data manually into the new computer’s data location.
Nana –
I have used PC Mover three times in the last 6 years and find it quite time-saving over the option of doing all the files and installs manually. The best thing is not losing default settings and cookies. The last time I used it there were some glitches with transferring email accounts but Microsoft was able to untangle it. I found only 2 programs that had to be re-installed and they were easy to download and when done all the saved data had transferred and was waiting for me!
CharlesS –
Transferred data to new computer. Simple, user-friendly operation, flawlessly executed.
DouglasA –
It worked after a few hiccups involving disconnecting during transfer but could have easily been my internet. It worked seamlessly otherwise.
Herb –
An absolutely essential product when one acquires a new computer. Amazing ability to transfer substantially all (i) data files and, more importantly, (ii) operating programs.
Transition –
This software does a great job of moving over all your data/programs to a new device. Transferring over using wifi can be quite slow, recommend purchasing their USB cable to speed up the process.
ComputerGreg –
I use this product all the time and buy it often. Good product
MarkW –
It took a few hours to transfer files and programs from my old computer to my new one but it worked very well. My new computer fired right up with everything working well.
Torrey –
The program worked beautifully. I had a lot on my old PC – so much it took almost 14 hours to transfer, but transfer it did and I am very satisfied.
DonW –
Not as straight forward as led to believe. Had to call support 4 times and then had to split transfer into 2 sessions because Laplink doesn’t handle SSD with HD/ split storage. Finally got it done, it does work and support was very patient talking me through the steps.

I am a volunteer for a local non-profit. Our old PC was showing signs of a death so I purchased a new Dell computer based on recommendations by Consumer Reports. I am very pleased with the computer, and I ordered along with it Dell’s migration software. I was told that it would duplicate the old computer’s files to the new Dell.
When I received the new computer, set about loading the migration software on both the old and the new computers. I ran the program on both computers.
After 90 minutes, the migration was done. Unfortunately the migration was very incomplete. Only my user account was transferred; the other two, not. NONE of the applications transferred. After reviewing my work, I contacted Dell and was told that the software did exactly what it was supposed to do. I asked for my money back, but Dell refused. (In all of this, I will say that Dell’s customer support is TERRIBLE. Very hard to talk with a real, live person)
I started to look for others options. I did not want to try to transfer software which was old. I lacked any purchase information. I would have to download the software, and then I would have to try to it work! Windows is so complicated in this area when compared to MacOS.
I found the PCMover program and have used Laplink software successfully in the past. I ordered it and downloaded. The installation was quick. I opened its manual which was quite complete.
Using it, I started the transfer from the old to new computer. This required over five hours which expected based on the Dell software. After the transfer, I started using the new computer and found that ALL items transferred correctly. The only areas where I had to intervene was deactivating the antivirus software on the old computer so I could activate on the new and do the same for the backup software.
After a week of using the new computer, the only problem I have is a startup error claiming a missing driver. I learned that this common with Windows 11. This does not cause any problems.

I work in IT and setting up a new Desktop or Laptop has always been a major pain, especially when it comes to so many apps and settings. This software made it so easy. I usually balked at the cost, but the time saved was definitely a great ROI. I had issue with only one very obscure program that wasn’t compatible with Windows 11. I installed a newer version of the software and it started right up with all the settings and files that had transferred from the old version. Awesome product!
GerryD –
So easy… I was apprehensive at first., but the process went so fast and smoothly.
JefferyP –
The product worked quite well. I had a little confusion on moving my saved passwords. I called customer support on a Sunday afternoon and the phone was answered on the first ring, no hold time. The tech that answered was able to talk me through the solution in short order. I will be a repat customer as needed.
JimD –
Worked fine wirelessly but doing it with data cable didnt work
Nickname –
Works like magic. Takes a while to make and disseminate the files but it’s worth it.
I’ve used this many times.
