Bought the 2TB version for full MacBook Pro backup. Backup completed successfully but after two days of receiving the drive, it was no longer recognized by my Mac. In conversation with LaCie tech support, it was determined that drive was faulty and sent it back to receive a replacement and use their data recovery service. The replacement drive I received was an older refurbished drive which is not acceptable after having bought a new drive that broke after a very short period of time. LaCie’s (Seagate’s) data recovery service is a mere joke: After having to submit the PW for the locked drive and their claim that they successfully recovered the data on my drive, all I received back were a few useless log fies, noting structured in the way they claimed in their documentation.
Since LaCie is now part of Seagate, no products from either company can be recommended. I will go back to trusted WD.

My husband bought this drive for his DJ Music and he likes it very much. Has a lot of space and worth it.

I have purchased several Lacie drives over the years and have never had pone fail. If you are in the market for a superior drive by this one.
Cris –
Worked well for macbook pro backup would recommend for apple products
lonenova –
This should be the gold standard product for backing up a Mac computer.

Looks Great, needed to contact support to get it to work with my iMac with M1 chip. It would be nice if this info was included in the set up instructions. The new Macs only use the APFS filing system
DaveK –
works great! Staff helped locate it and I had never used a hard drive before!

Mitch delivered and set up this back-up drive for me. It works fine!
NaazM –
Love the space it has and the color but a bit confusing to use at first
Then suddenly it stopped working so I had to make a claim with the manufacturer and they replaced it for me
ElizabethM –
Works great for Time Machine backup. Tiny but very sturdy and noiseless.

I love my LaCie Mobile drive. I am using it for Time Machine backups with my Mac and it has been working perfectly. It was easy to set up. I like the USB-C cable — I don’t have to use an adapter for my MacBook. I like the small size and sturdy feel of the drive.

I really enjoyed this product, it made backing up my computer easy
Darren –
Works as advertised and server the purpose intended. Speed not as fast as hoped but adequate for backups.

USB-C to USB-C cable. Unfortunately, my computer does not have a USB-C port. Including a USB 2 cable with a USB-C terminal would be nice. This means you have to go out and buy one.

This is my second LaCie 2TB drive. I love its size (very portable), and it gives me peace of mind to know that my laptop is backed up. Easy to connect

Good for storage but not for editing large files. I bought this to use after some serious debate. I edit large files on Lightroom and Photoshop. I purchased a6TB G-drive and after 3 months it stopped working. Customer service on it said they would replace it but I’d loose all the information. I pulled the HD out of the casing and put it in a dock and it works. It wasn’t the power supply but the part inside that powers the drive. So I bought this LaCie to do one portion of photo editing. I thought it would be ok and it does work, but it is SLOW! I work with 60mb files in Lightroom and often have to wait for the drive to communicate. I’m using a 2021 MacBook Pro with M1 chip.
So for storage and small files, this is probably a good option. But for large files and quick editing. Look elsewhere.

Works perfect for what I needed, TimeKeeper backups to 2 MacBook Pros. Simple, easy (does require a cable), but so easy to use “when needed”….
KSweet –
Fast little drive at a good price. exactly what we needed
Kghinct –

I have been unable to get a backup via Toolkit since I purchased it in January. I tried to locate their support to find out why, but have not been able to successfully locate a number, email, or chat on the LaCie or the Seagate (who owns Lacie) site. I took it to total tech to have it correctly set up, but they evidently did not know anything about it because all they did was a manual backup located in Windows. I wanted it set up so it would automatically backup and mirror, but that was not done. It appears to work on the Toolkit app, but when I look at the report for the day there are the same errors day after day. I do not recommend this drive to anyone unless they either have a direct support phone number or email to the company or are above a novice on computers.

This drive failed after 2 months, piece of junk! I own many Lacie Rugged drives and stick with that model.
EddyAnd3rson –
It was bought for a backup of a couple of computers, so far more than I expected, very good product
CL97 –
Great device for downloading/maintaining photos and videos for traveling. Rugged to withstand the rigors of travel and incidental bumps. Also use an earlier model as a back drive for my desktop iMac.
Larry –
Had the prior generation with standard USB with years of service. Typically, I use an SSD to store operating system and programs with data stored on regular spinner hard drives – internal on desktop and portable on laptop. This also gives me the flexibility to transport between computers. With a new MacBook Pro, could use the old drive with a USB adapter, but this upgrades to the correct USB and faster protocol. Plus, a drive over 5 years would have been pushing my luck, so time to upgrade and relegate the old one to archive.
Richie –
In need of extra storage thats reliable and cost effective then this is a great option. paired this with my MacBook Pro and it’s great for backing up my files and giving that well needed storage space
Zimlee –
I liked the hard drive, but was missing the usbc cord.

Easy to use! Would highly recommend. Price reasonable.
beaufort –
Nice packaging, simple device works as advertised. Great size for the capacity and portability. Running on my MAC.
EvaD –
So far so good! My Mac laptop is getting old so I’m very careful to back it up regularly. I was using a different brand of external back up drive which failed – twice – so I switched to LaCie (which I used many years ago) and so far with this new LaCie everything seems to be working well – at least after a couple of months. Again, so far so good!
OriLo –
It worked smoothly after I updated my OS on Apple Mini.

LQuiroz –
Works exactly as needed, tons of space, easy to use. Has lasted so far, no defects.
RyanJ –
A great by for the price tag! SLIM, POWERFUL AND WORTH IT.
WyattW –
I enjoy it! It is must get item if you are worried about storage on your computer.
ClaireR –
Nice tool to use. Love the flexibility. Recommend highly!
TacoMaster151 –
Worked great for 3 months. Then it wasn’t connecting to my iPad properly, and thought it was the chord. Nope, it’s the actual device, so now I have to put pressure on the plug that’s plugged into the hard drive in order to get it to start reading.
RichardS –
WARNING: Don’t buy Lacie. Their new owners closed phone support. Now all they have is online support, if you can find it, but they barely know the Lacie software!
SheilaW –
So far so good. This is 1st time I’ve connected a new ext hard drive. I did have a little guidance from an Apple rep. Couldn’t have been easier.
RayC –
Have been using this for several months and fairly easy to use each time I do a backup of my laptop the new files are backed up. When using some other applications it created a new file for each backup using space unnecessarily. The Toolkit updates automatically which is nice. Wish it updated backups of videos and pictures of other devices via WiFi.
