Doggie –
I used it by setting up to tv. Nice picture for 70 year old slides.
Takes a little time to figure out how to use it.

The Kodak Scanza is a great unit that has greatly enhanced our ability to digitalize paper pictures and slides. We have lots of pictures to digitized and the Scanza will help us acconplished the work.

I have this as a gift to my dad for Father’s Day and he has been having a great time going through his old slides and negatives and getting them uploaded onto his computer
Nye3 –
Takes some getting use to figuring out which slide to use for different negatives. But plus side you don’t need a computer to use it!

Bought as present for my mother. She was excited at first, but it ended up not being what she was looking for. A lot of work for low quality images. Unfortunately had to return.

Kodak – SCANZA Digital Film Scanner. Bought for my Dad for fathers day. He had boxes of old family slides. He is now able to transfer then to digital himself.
Nickname –
It does the job as well as can be expected. I have only used it for 35mm slides so far
Monoark –
It’s hard to get the correct lighting for capturing image from negative. The image file names restart after each use making it harder to organize.
angiewagg –
I have needed this for so long. Easy to use and works amazingly.

I’ve had a lot of trouble getting this scanner to work. If I can resolve the issue, I will raise the rating to 5 stars, because when it is working, it’s great. Once you set up your image with the right adapter, it works quickly and the scans are high quality. You do have to use an SD card for the Scanza to operate. The problem is that my device keeps freezing with the display showing vertical green lines down the image. The only way to move forward at this point is to disconnect the power and then reboot the device. Unfortunately, this happens sometimes after every few images. I have contacted the company to see if the power cord may be defective or if I’m doing something wrong. BTW this is a product of C&A Marketing using the Kodak name under license.

Bought on line, good reviews pushed me to make a decision to purchase. Go to Best Buy, it will be worth the trip.

Very surprised at the quality of the screen and quality of the unit. I needed to go through a lot of 35mm negatives in strips. I wanted to put them in digital files to share with family. Initial set up was easy but I couldn’t get the strips to slide through the slot easily. After a bit of checking I found a piece of plastic blocking one of the passages for the strips. I cut out the piece and then was able to smoothly slide the strips.

I have yet to use it, but will get the SD card and then go for it.
Nana –
Easy to use, was a gift for my family , which it could connect to the computer as an option
Drew –
Have scanned over 5k negatives & slides. Pro: produces good quality images. Con: occasionally freezes image on monitor.
JK2199 –
I didn’t realize it would take editing each slide to download. I thought it was as easy a firing them through the machine. Still cool toy just need time.
Scanner –
Easy to order and the item arrived earlier than originally stated at the time of purchase.

I was apprehensive regarding this purchase as to how well it was going to work but was pleasantly surprised by the ease of use, quality, and versatility of the media it was able to handle. It put a smile on my face as I was able to consolidate all the different types of film negatives and slides from the past 40+ years onto different digital storage devices so that they can be permanently preserved and easily viewed over and over again!

Really cool machine! We are able to view photos on slides that were taken in the 1960’s in Sierra Leone, West Africa during the Peace Corps.

Biggest waste of money! It does nothing. I have followed ALL the instructions, watched every tutorial, read the manual, and it still won’t develop any of my 35mm film. I’ve never encountered such an overpriced, useless, COMPLICATED waste of time.
Judy –
This little scanner works as advertised! We have 2 large boxes of negatives and slides. It would be cost prohibitive to use a scanning service. This is a perfect solution.
Pamela –
Great product as a gift for my mom. Makes it easier and less expensive to have her old rolls of film processed.
TedM –
Not very user friendly. The instructions leave a lot to your ability to figure out how to save items into a file or store pictures onto a flash drive. I need technical support to assist my useage.
SLTRRCO –
Great Item works like a charm, Had to scan slides that were over 50 years old.
Bill –
I was able to copy all my family slides and make copies for my sisters.
Bosch –
This scanner seems to work well with photos, slides, and film. Smaller footprint than what I expected, which is a good thing.
Casualism2 –
First model didn’t work. Exchanged it for another, as Kodak is usually a good product. The second one arrived a day early and works well. We enjoy getting to see and save pics from our old slides and photo-negatives.
Lakeside –
Works as promised although the instructions are not clear. Google a YouTube instruction video and it will reduce frustration
Happy –
Scans slides and negatives! Great little machine! Works great!
LadyDee –
I had various slides and negatives for over 35 years and never wanted to get rid of them. I ordered this Digital and Film Scanner and boy did it bring back great memories.
Gerry –
The Kodak SCANZA Digital slide scanner digitizes my slides in about 5 seconds with 3 of those seconds my installing and adjusting the slide. Adding labels takes me MUCH longer. I appreciate the greater detail it provides compared to the device I used 12 years ago.
Opinion –
It does do what you want it to do. But, it is a bit labor intensive.
Handy –
It works great on old slides & old film I have to see it again as I don’t have projector & can get a photo print form it.
Notageek –
Just started playing around with using. So far so good.

I purchased my BB Scanza and received it safely thru UPS. All details were in the box along with a ‘small print’ manual. I downloaded the manual “Kodak-Scanza-KODFS35-Manual.pdf” from the support tab at: https://www.kodakphotoplus.com/pages/download-user-manuals. [30 pgs] English. Other languages are in the Paper book. All type and diagrams are typical of 3rd party, 3rd world manufactures, very small. Use Acrobat to enlarge the type.

I’m not going to inform you about using anything but the 35 mm Color Slide option. There are other reviews (not to good) on using the film types (Film gets scratched in the carriers I hear). Good luck.
Follow the setup first. If you have a HDMI TV use that over the viewer or use your big screen TV if the HDMI cable is long enough. I used a 32GB SD memory card, worked fine. I used the #1 adapter (use the #3 if your slide film carrier is the thicker or plastic type). You get to select between 14 and 22 MB scans. They are both 14 MB but the 22 is an upscalled/interpolation image like TV’s use. My 18 Images = 75 MB.
Using the 22 MB option I get a .JPG picture that averages 4.3 MB at 5728 x 3824 at 72 dpi, sharpness –A bit Soft ???, bit depth is 24, All settings on -Auto-, remember your mileage may vary based on the image. Follow the instruction on having the shiny side of the film Up, and the Image in the “Viewed” position. Number sequence starts at 000001, Remove the drive images to go back to #1. And orient the direction of the film so you need not have to edit it on the machine. Insert with the image showing correctly up and L/R correct the first time. Watch for flipped images from the developer, like backwards Text and Steering wheels on the wrong side, Etc. I used the ‘AUTO’ feature in Settings and let it decide. You may also choose to group like contrasts of the slides to reduce changing that each time. If the colors are still off that can also be modified, once again place those in groups.
Get a can of “Dust Off” to blow off the dirt and stuff in the unit and on the slides. I had over a thousand slides to scan, most people do and use this product to do that. For higher resolution and more adjustments use a Flat Bed Scanner, they are much more taylorable. And make sure you get one that does negatives if your going to do them also. I only scanned Positives.
Turn the power on last and off first to protect the scanner. I had to turn the scanner on then the HDMI set to get it to sync most of the time. I had two old scans come back from the dead, so don’t hurry the transfers but I was using 3 software packages to create my Data.

I got this initially thinking I could use it to digitize a super 8 film, but it doesn’t do that. I have used it for slides and film negatives and it does that very well. I did attach a TV screen to it to help with seeing the images better. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase.
JamesoK –
this item has a BIG design flaw. Although it says you can connect to a computer, it need a special sandisk which I cannot seem to find anywhere. Kodak support says reformat the disk that I have, which I have done 2 times and it still won’t read it.

Works mostly as advertised. Yes, easy to use. Sometimes does not record in focus a slide which viewed as good in focus on screen.
LeeE –
Works flawlessly. Clear sharp scans with every use. B/W negatives, color slides and even some 8mm film frames.
hb09 –
Very useful tool for digitizing my family’s old photos
viva –
You have to go through the slides and negatives individually and that is time consuming.

My Kodak Scanza worked for me twice then it would not come on anymore and no power. I was expecting it to be better since Kodak has been around for many years. The machine is very light weight. The cord is very, very short. I did get a replacement and I appreciate that. The lady was very nice on the phone after my second call and helped me with the problem. She went above and beyond, and I appreciate that. The guy that I first spoke to did not want to do his job. This second one seems to work ok so far.

Great little gizmo! I’m finally able to sort through decades of slides, upload them into my computer, and throw them away!
SarahS –
wish it would improve actual pictures. like my epson v600. But it does copy negatives well.
SueW –
Does what I need it to do! Product performs as advertised.
GaryS –
The Scanza does a good job on slides. It is easy and fast to get the image but the image editing is pretty basic. So I find that after digitizing the slides I still need to put them on my computer to do final color and lighting adjustments. I haven’t tried film yet.
Mikmark8 –
Positives: relatively easy to use, good image results. Negatives: poor documentation, difficult to clean lint from the backlight.
Pepsi7337 –
A great product that is able to scan slides of different sizes. It’s easy and you simply save the ones you want in a digital format. Better then expected.
RobertoR –
It works just like it said, easy to use. Took me just a little time to read instructions and figure it out. But from there on, its easy to use.

Works as described and Best Buy had a great price!
