Awesome radio that has awesome capabilities, but Alexa is a buggy mess. Not connecting properly and randomly entering “listening” mode with the slightest bump or whisper. Would recommended still if you have a stable car

Love this head unit. Had the old cersion in my Ram. Got this one for my Jeep. Only issue i had was the install. When the installer put tge dash back together, they twisted the cords that control my HVAC knobs. Luckily I was able to fix it.

This is a great value for the money. There are several of these styles of head units in different brands but I went with Kenwood as I’ve had Kenwood head units before and they have been of great quality. I’m not disappointed with how it’s performed and glad I went with it. The only concern I have is that the heatsink on the back gets extremely hot if using the head unit speaker outputs. The higher end units use a fan to cool the internal amp but this one doesn’t and I was worried about it overheating. I have bunch of old computer chipset heat sinks and was able to secure a descent sized one on the surface of the head unit heat sink to dissipate the heat further and it seems to have helped quite a bit and I have more confidence I won’t have any issues, but I do worry that could be a problem if not addressed when running the internal amp for speakers. I may switch to an external amp down the road anyway, but for now I’m comfortable with it.

The radio is exactly what I was looking for to replace the radio on my GL1500 Goldwing. Its works like a charm!

The only fault that I have with this unit is the way it handles USB devices. It only looks in the root folder. If you have a 32 GB drive, you have to have all the songs in the root folder, because it does not see or recognize subfolders. Even my 2013 Toyota Camry’s stock system did that, and that was ten years ago!
Kenwood said they didn’t do it, and there were no plans to change it.
If you don’t need USB, or don’t mind all your songs being in the same directory, this is a pretty good buy.
