The printer works just fine. I looked at so many that I overlooked the fact that this is a printer only. I needed a 3 in one model. I’m to blame for this mistake but I have to say I was so overwhelmed by so many models that I overlooked the details. Darn it! Now I’m going to have to either buy a copier/scan separately or try to go thru the hassle of selling this, at a loss, and buy what I wanted in the first place. Grrrrrr!

I wanted something for personal use for printing, scanning, and copying but I must not have read the description correctly because this only prints and is HUGE!! Well, when printing documents because it leaves lines across the page when printing photos, which is why I purchased it!!

I went to Best Buy and explained that I was a student and needed an all purpose printer. This was the one they suggested. The cost was pretty good, especially if it was all purpose, so I bought it and took it home. I set this sucker up and went to photo copy some forms for school…there was no photo copy capability. Why? What kind of all purpose printer cannot make a copy. I tried scanning but the copy sucked. So I got to pack the whole thing up again and take it back. Meanwhile I had to race out and purchase the first printer copier I could find at another store so that I could submit the forms I had needed for school.
I imagine the printer is probably good but I wish the sales person understood its deficiencies when I asked for all purpose.

For those who are interested in printing only, the 8120 is a great addition. Set up is easy and printing is fast. The printer is paired with the HP smart App which adds the ability to adjust printing and repair malfunctions.

I really enjoy shopping at Best Buy. My experience with this particular printer with Best Buy was awesome. The printer however is a nightmare. HP has overcomplicated everything. This is my last HP printer I will ever buy. I purchased brand new HP ink for my last printer which immediately died. I was unable to use the ink in my new printer.

Great printer! I bought two of these: one for my wife and one for me. This printer replaces my 10 year old HP 8100. It is significantly better at printing colored photos that the 8100 muddled. Regular black text printing is very good. Just be careful not to install the HP ink control software if you want to use 3rd-party ink suppliers. Installing the HP ink control/update software will lockout the use of 3rd-party ink cartridges and may brick the printer.

ordered a new one and got one that someone else returned, I would needed to buy ink just to set it up and see if it worked. I instead chose to return it, when I went to return it the people at the store were not happy or helpful in getting it returned

Worked great until there was a notice that there was a critical error and an update would be installed. ‘Waited..and waited…and waited….no update. Finally contacted HP support…in a call center…I believe in another country. The rep wanted me to turn over my desktop to him.. I was (am) very uncomfortable doing that…..so still have a useless printer. Before the problem it worked great!

Do not buy this printer. Every time the driver auto-updates it decides you are out of ink, and makes you replace all of the ink cartridges, which cost more than the printer.
This you can turn off auto-updates? Nope. I’ve done it twice now and it turns auto-updates back on.
