Our second HP printer, first one lasted over 15 years. This unit was a bit larger but fits fine on the same space. It was very easy to set up and connect to the internet wi/fi and our computers, devices and phones. A very good value for the money.

I had trouble figuring out printing larger images on heavy weight paper but I finally read online that you can only put the heavy weight paper in tray 1 and then it seemed to work — just not on as heavy of paper as I was hoping (140 lb watercolor paper). It did it once and then never again. I just came to grips with using thinner paper and putting it in tray 1 and seems to be working well.

I purchased this printer to replace the one that stopped working. I was looking for a printer that was faster than the one I had, and this one is much faster. This printer produces a pleasant and precise copy. This printer holds a lot more paper than my old printer. I would recommend this printer.

Ive had it for 6 months. It was a’ight. No manual paper feed, can’t autofeed 11×17 for scanning, no manual feed for envelopes so you have to remove whatever paper you have in a tray, adjust it for envelopes, and do it all over again. 6 months later, I’m in hour 4 on the phone with tech support. Can no longer scan 11×17 and am now learning that the ones I had pronted before were NOT to scale even though the .pdfs were to scale. Even though you setup what size paper is in which tray, it does not remember and you have to switch theough 3 acreens to adjust that. I’m currently in search of a hot poker to stick in my eye. Now I remember WHY I stopped buying anything Hp a LONG time ago.

I just purchased and the ONLY reason i purchased is because it can print on 11×17 paper. Exactly what i was looking for but in HP brand. I’ve had it four days and haven’t been able to print. It jams while feeding the paper thru.

As a homeschooling parent, a high quality color printer is key. The overall machine size is larger than I really wanted, but I love the larger print option that allows for me to print classroom posters. Common functions are maintained and I like the two paper trays at bottom of the machine (versus rear paper tray that causes machine to stick out). So far, I’m very pleased with my purchase. The only down-side is that I cannot get auto shipped ink through HP.

This printer is frustrating! Because of it’s network requirement not only was it unnecessarily difficult to connect my laptop with, but now it shows as offline even though both devices are connected to the same network. It doesn’t always print the same either, sometimes the orientation is squished even though it’s set for 8.5 x 11 letter. There isn’t even a clear manual to help me with these. Ink goes quickly, too. I’m not satisfied at all.

It does the job – the annoying part is figuring out HP’s software and the limitations. Make sure to use the HP Easy Start installer and install the full driver to use all the features. No instant ink, and requires you to use HP cartridges, but it’s the best wide format printer on the market for the price so what are you going to do. Great quality in printing on a variety of formats so far.

I loved this printer for the extra large flatbed scanning capability. I could scan my 9″ x 12″ art canvases. At 13 months, just one month beyond the warranty window the scanner started putting a vertical 3/4 inch black line on the left side of every scanned image. All efforts to fix this through HP’s support help lines were fruitless. They determined it’s a ‘hardware’ failure and cannot be fixed. I am now stuck with a worthless giant paperweight in my studio and can no longer scan my art for my business. Everything was working fine until my black ink cartridge was running low & HP automatically updated the firmware.
I suspect that this may be the intended flaw.
DO NOT PURCHASE THIS WORTHLESS PIECE OF JUNK!!! You will run the risk of having spent precious $ like I did and getting less than a year’s worth of light use.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY PRINTER!!! My profession requires the use of letter and legal paper. Over the years, it has been so difficult to find a two drawer printer. I have been so disappointed and frustrated with the two drawer printers that I purchased. The printers that I have bought came with many issues that hindered my ability to produce my documents. The defects of the printers vary but all made it difficult for me to perform my work. My 7740 is so efficient!!! I do not have any problems with its dependability and functioning. My work production has been increased because I am no longer hinder by printing problems and quality. I never write product reviews but I feel compeled to write this to provide an honest review and recommendation of this printer for other professionals who need a reliable and efficient two drawer printer. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THE PURCHASE OF THIS PRINTER. THE QUALITY FOR EXCEEDS THE COST!!!

After reading a lot of positive reviews for this printer I decided to buy one to replace an old Epson Workforce printer that no longer worked. The first printed I received would feed 2 sheets of paper for every single page print wasting paper and resulting in me needing to print everything 2 times. It would feed in 2 sheets and print the top 1/4 inch on one sheet and the rest on the 2nd sheet. I assumed after dealing with this for a week that it was a defective printed. I contacted best buy and got a replacement sent out. When the replacement arrived I was out of town on a business trip and I didn’t get the 2nd one setup for a few weeks. Unfortunately for me the 2nd printer has the exact same issue and I was outside of the return policy. The fact that both printers have the same feed issue makes me think this is a defect in this model of printer. I never had issues like this with my Epson. One other feature its lacking but I didnt notice immediately is the ability to scan 11 x 17 documents from the top auto feed, That’s a feature I used all the time and now I have to do it manually on the glass. Terrible feature to not include on a larger format printer.
The print quality is good but overall I’m very disappointed in this printer for the reasons stated above.

I bought this printer because it can print 11X17 sheets. But its default seems to print with margins larger than the sheets I need to print, I have yet to figure out (with confidence) how to change the margins, if I can, for my purposes. New ink is expensive, so I try to use it only when printing 11X17 and fall back on my other HP printer for 8.5X11 pages. BTW for these reasons, there needs to be another option for “would you recommend this…” such as “not yet sure.”
