I have used this urn and noticed the coffee is not as hot as the others. It appears that coffee makers have turned down the temperature on these items, just like Starbucks and other fast food chains. That means you coffee won’t stay hot very long so you need to drink it right away.

Water is not hot enough! Old urn was much hotter! More like lukewarm water.

This is about the 4th percolator this size that I’ve had. Usually they last about a year. The last one lived a good two years until the spout broke. It was a Hamilton Beach, too.
I just made my first pot of coffee. It is good and hot. The coffee tastes great. I could hear it percolating which is great for me.
I leave my big pot on all the time for both us and friends.
Usually the old ones started leaking. I guessed it was because grounds got caught in the spout. Now I use a paper towel to catch the grounds and clean thoroughly between pots.My old one broke where it rotates. I could have fixed it with a bolt, but this one was a good price.
I use 5 scoops of grounds and the pot lasts us two or three days, depending on visitors. The pot is near the front door and beside where I store cups. As much as we drink coffee, this pot is cheaper than the drip ones and the pot stays hot.

Excellent machine and big enough for a party. Keeps the coffee nice and hot and great price.
