This GE 10 cups coffee maker provides a very classy design with an elegant looking. The quality is outstanding, the stainless body is nice and matches my other kitchen appliances. The display is bright and numbers are readable and easy to program. Cord storage on the back is a good feature. The carafe is breakable and insulated/ thermal which is made to keep coffee warm for a longer time without a machine is needed to stay on. However, this coffeemaker has numerous issues; From my experience, the thermal carafe does not keep the coffee warm for more than an hour, also the water filling is an issue, the reservoir is poorly designed where it is hard to pour the water into it, and leads to mess as well as leaving about one cup of water inside the pot and can’t be poured completely or emptied. Moreover, due to the pot lid design, pouring coffee out of it leaves an amount of coffee inside even with my attempt to tilt it down. The display turns off automatically after 2-3 minutes which is kind of odd.

My grandmother drinks several cups of coffee every day and for a long time, she would brew full pots of coffee just for herself. A few years back, we switched to using a single-serve coffee maker because it seemed to work best for our family’s needs at the time. In the past year, my fiancé has been working from home and she is also a coffee drinker. So, it makes more sense now to move back to a full-size coffee pot/maker. Plus, it’s nice to have a full-size coffee pot for special occasions when all of us would like a cup of coffee. The GE Coffee Maker caught my eye because it was all stainless steel. We’ve been trying to move all our appliances over to stainless steel finishes and this coffee maker fits right in.

The set-up of the coffee maker was very easy. The main assembly was one piece and it comes with a ‘permanent’ filter. Since we’ve been using single-serve coffee makers, we’ve gotten used to not having to purchase paper filters and we rather enjoy it. So, seeing this reusable filter being included with this machine was refreshing. Cleaning it out is easy and it’s much better for the environment. The main assembly of the coffee maker is quite large. We placed it on an open countertop so the height of it isn’t an issue for our house, but I could see how it might be detrimental to some people. Make sure you measure before you make plans for where to place it.

When we select new kitchen appliances we always look for ease of use. My grandmother embraces new things, but sometimes she has a hard time learning how to use them. So, even though some coffee makers come with super-advanced technologies or features included, that’s not always what’s best for every household. GE made things simple with the operation of this coffee maker. You fill the reservoir with water, fill the basket with coffee grounds, and press the brew button. She had no trouble learning this new appliance and that meant it solidified its place in our home.

While I enjoy this new addition to our home, I did have a few issues with it. First, the coffee pot doesn’t allow for an even flow of liquid. The carafe has a large lip towards the top of the kettle that prevents all the water or coffee from pouring out of the container. This is a problem for getting all the coffee out of the pot and when filling the water reservoir. I ended up having to swirl the remaining liquid around and then even shaking the pot so that every drop would eventually fall out of the carafe. In addition to the carafe being an odd shape for even pouring, the water reservoir has a narrow opening so it’s really hard to get water into it without spilling some. I also noticed that when I thought I had a full pot of water that I was pouring into the coffee maker, the level only said 8 cups instead of the maximum 10 cups.
Despite the small issues I found with the coffee maker, it has some very big bonuses, too. I already mentioned the reusable filter, but I didn’t mention the taste of the coffee it produces. The coffee maker has a bold option for brewing, but it produces a stronger brew without having to select that option. The coffee maker is exceptionally quiet and it’s hard to know when it’s done brewing unless you’re in the same room with it. I think the best bonus feature of this coffee maker is the fact that the carafe is thermal. It will keep coffee warm for hours. I poured a cup of coffee 2 hours after it had been made originally and the liquid was still warm.

Even though there are some areas for improvement, I would recommend this to others on the basis that it keeps coffee warm long after it’s been made and because the filter is reusable. The coffee maker also makes great coffee.

Loved this as soon as I took it out of the box. Aesthetically, it is very appealing, sleek and simple. The stainless steel carafe is great, keeps the coffee hot for hours.

  4. Njmomof3

With coffee makers, you really need to do a lot to stand out as there are so many….this one didn’t really do that.
Firstly, the carafe has a weird design where it doesn’t pour out the entire pot of coffee. Every time I go to clean it, there is always some left over even after nearly the pot completely upside down (and making a mess in the process)
The coffee is good, and the device itself looks really sharp and sleek on my counter, I just really wish the coffee stayed just as hot (not warm) as when it was first brewed. It stays warm, but I find myself having to microwave my cup for 30 seconds to get it nice and hot again.
Nonetheless it is a decent coffeemaker — but with so many available, I would really fix the carafe issue and design.

  5. Hippy

Classic looking coffeemaker. It makes quick and great coffee. Love that it comes in stainless steel carafe.

This is a nice 10-cup coffee maker that looks good on your counter. I have a few coffee makers to compare this to. First, stainless steel pots are great for keeping coffee warm for hours. They stays much warmer if you put hot tap water in it and let it sit for about 10 mins before you brew the coffee. Out of the box, washed and set it up. The inside rim of the pot is a little sharp so be careful washing. I read the instruction manual for stainless pot and I have to say that they are poorly written and if you are new to coffee pot making this will probably have you rereading them to make sure you understand them.

The coffee pot is a shorter 10-cup carafe that sits nicely on the coffee maker. When pouring the water into the reservoir it is difficult to pour without spilling. There isn’t ample room to get the water into the reservoir when the lid is in the way and the water doesn’t pour out of the coffee pot all the way. I ended up filling the reservoir with measuring cups for a better pour spout. The pour spout on the pot is awkward and is oddly designed. When you get down to the bottom of the pot you can’t get the rest of the coffee out because of the pour spout design. It does have a cord storage area in the back but it is difficult to get the whole cord in without really pushing it in. The coffee maker comes with a mesh filter so you don’t “have” to use paper filters, however I found that the coffee tasted better using a paper filter. The first pot of coffee I made without the paper filter was bitter tasting.

I like that you can set it up with a timer to have your coffee ready in the morning. There is also a Bold brew but wouldn’t use that because it is too strong for me. Also, the suggested amount of coffee given in the manual was way too strong at 2 tbsp per cup – it was like mud. I backed it up to about 1 tbsp per cup and that was better.

All in all, I wouldn’t rate this as a must buy but it will do the job for a lower end stainless steel coffee maker. I also have a Breville stainless coffee maker that works much better. (just being honest)

I’ve been working from home, like many people, for the last year, so a coffee maker gets daily usage in my house. I thought it was time for a new one, and this one looked to be a good one to try, but my experience has been mixed.

First, for the positives… setup of the coffee maker was simple. Removed it from the box, and the packaging, put it on my counter and it was basically ready to go. From an aesthetic perspective, the coffee pot looks great on the counter, and seems well made.

Brewing a pot of coffee is straightforward, and the reusable filter is great. The thermal pot that comes with the unit keeps the coffee warm for about 2 hours. The taste of the coffee was very good too, so we were happy with that.

But there are also some things that detract from the overall score for me that keep me from really recommending this unit. First, when filling the reservoir with water from the pot, the way the coffee pot is designed makes it tough to fully remove all of the water. Unless I completely turned the pot upside down, some was always left in the pot when I was making coffee. Second, there isn’t a lot of space to empty the pot into the reservoir. As a result, water would sometimes splash on the lip of the unit. GE seemed to account for this by sloping the lip towards the reservoir so any spill is directed to the opening a bit. But I often had to grab a paper towel to wipe up the counter a bit after.

Next, while the brewed coffee tastes great, it isn’t overly hot. I can immediately drink it. It is certainly hot, but not as hot as a pot of coffee that my old unit made. This was disappointing as I like a really hot cup of coffee.

Another area that disappointed is that the unit does not indicate when the brewed coffee is no longer warm. I often brew a pot of coffee, and my wife might grab a cup from the pot an hour or so later. It would be great if GE could have added a little LED light that stayed lit for two hours as a simple timer to indicate the contents of the pot should still be hot. As a result I found myself pouring coffee from a pot once or twice where the coffee had cooled considerably.

Also, there appears no way to just simply re-heat the pot. The element turns off immediately after brewing since the pot is thermal. So if I just wanted to turn the element on to reheat it, I couldn’t, because all I could do was brew a new pot and start the cycle again.

Overall, these might be nit picking as it does brew a good tasting cup of coffee, but for the price, I guess I expected a little more in terms of features and overall functionality.

  8. TheDuke

About a year ago, my wife began drinking coffee daily. She found a coffee maker that has all of the features she likes, but she doesn’t like that it doesn’t match our stainless steel appliances. Our current machine is stainless steel on the front, but black plastic on the sides and top – making it look (and feel) rather cheap. We were excited to try out this beautiful GE model, but we very quickly learned that this coffee maker is all looks.

The water reservoir cannot be removed for cleaning and the opening is small and difficult to pour water into. The screen is easy to read, but it quickly times out – making the clock virtually useless. The carafe is insulated and is dishwasher safe, but it has a large lip which makes it nearly impossible to pour all of the coffee out of. The coffee actually pours from the center of the Carafe’s lid – through a plastic lid that is also difficult to clean. The brewing process is quiet, but there is no sound or visual indication that the coffee is done brewing. There is no way to pause the brewing process. The 15 inch height is too tall for the lid to be opened while resting under a cupboard. And, unlike our cheaper coffee maker, this version does not have a function to show how long it has been since the coffee has been brewed. The list of annoyances is simply too long to make this coffee pot worth while.

The only reason to choose this coffee maker is for the superior look of the stainless steel. The carafe doesn’t keep coffee hot for as long as expected, it is difficult to clean, and it is therefore overpriced for the poor design. My wife refuses to use it and has returned to our older and cheaper machine. Instead of using an insulated carafe to keep her coffee warm, my wife now uses an insulated mug that works much better. Unfortunately this machine gets a pass until GE can improve the design / function.

The GE – Classic Drip 10-Cup Coffee Maker – Stainless Steel is a new technology for brewing coffee. The first noticeable benefit was the Permanent filter that eliminates my need to purchase paper coffee filters. Operating instructions are easy to understand which allows for quick setup and brew. The LCD display gives precise timing to brew great tasting coffee. The LCD display also informs when it is time for cleaning. There is even an auto brew function to have my coffee start brewing while I am just waking up for morning. I can adjust the amount of cups to make from one cup to ten cups. The GE – Classic Drip 10-Cup Coffee Maker – Stainless Steel is a great coffee maker to have in my home.

  10. Pretty

Attractive on the counter and easy to use! Uses cone filters

  11. Bernbbbab

I love this coffee maker…love that it is easy to clean…my mr. Coffee was hard to clean the pot due to the top hole being so small..it served me well for many years…this one stays hot way beyond shut off in which I love…I would have given 5stars accept I hate that the bold setting doesn’t stay at that setting I have to put it on each time and the clock doesn’t stay on…it goes off…other then that I love it

  12. TEX335

This coffee maker brews a good pot of coffee. It uses a cone filter and the carafe keeps the coffee the coffee hot. I have two complaints: The carafe only holds ten(10) cups and it tends to pour slowly. If you clear the top of the carafe to remove any liquid after the coffee is brewed, the coffee pours at a better rate.

  13. Thparker

The machine makes great coffee! It is super user friendly and the coffee stays nice and warm.
The timer does turn off which is an interesting design choice, I suppose GE does not want us to use this coffee machine as a clock.
The pot is nice and big, and again, keeps the coffee nice and fresh for much longer than products I’ve used before.

  14. Txstatesal

GE clearly made this for us coffee enthusiasts who simply enjoy a cup of coffee!

In my role at work I work from home and I also work in the office. So having multiple cups of coffeee brewed has been so helpful! Don’t get me wrong I’ve got an awesome espresso machine but there are days I just need a pot of coffee available while I navigate my day.

My favorite two features are the brushed steel look and the built in filter.

Bravo for not making me have to purchase filters. I’ve had mesh filters like this in other makers and it is so convenient to brew the coffee and spread the used up grounds in my plants that thrive on grounds.

I attached a picture of the lid because the interior plastic parts seem like they’ll break easy. Which was a downside for me.

Ultimately think of this coffee pot as a huge thermal cup. It’s made for brewing coffee but I made summer teas would be great as well!

Overall a great coffee maker with all the basic simplicities I need.

  15. gabemstr

Coffee coffee coffee. Something I have every day, which isn’t a bad thing since it’s just black! Drinking 2-3 cups in the morning (okay maybe a bit too much) and then even more at night, sure I could do just fine with a 2-3 cup coffee maker, but why not make things easier and have 10 cups available at all times? 🙂 It’s like having a 20 gallon gas tank where you don’t have to buy gas as often. It’s truly really great. I can see that this is more practical for office use, but with our household being primarily work from home, it’s like home is the new office, so this 10 cup coffee maker is pretty much perfect.

It’s super easy to use, looks great with the build quality being solid, and it’s GE, you can’t go wrong with GE.

    Highly recommended!

WATER IS NEVER HOT, LUKE WARM AT BEST,
I LIKE TO SIP MY COFFEE, IF YOU CAN DRINK YOUR COFFEE STRAIT FROM THE POT THAT AIN’T HOT

  17. NoLongerBestBuyCustomer

This coffee maker is a great size, nice looking and made great coffee…for 10 days!! It just quit working! I contacted Best Buy and they said, too bad, we only help you in a 15 day window. I honestly have the box, have only made coffee 10 times, and the warranty cards are sitting on my kitchen counter. They gave me GE’s number, called them and they said they could not help me today, their computers are not working. They want to send a technician to my home for a coffee maker! Will not be buying anything from Best Buy again!!!

  18. rwod

Works ok. Kind of a chunky design. Hard to pour water in back. Coffee doesn’t stay hot long. Finger prints easily.

  19. Paul

It is difficult to fill the unit. The supplied coffee pot can not be emptied without sloshing the last half cup back and forth totally upside down. The $29 Mr Coffee would be better. Very disappointed.

  20. jchpdx

Nice little coffee maker keeps the coffee nice and warm.

  21. Royale

This coffee maker is stainless teel from top to bottom. Don’t have to worry about the glass breaking. Heats up coffee real quick

  22. Emily

Works well and keeps the coffee hot for a long time, but difficult to fill and empty. There’s a lip on the coffee pot that makes it so the coffee is difficult to fully get out and for you to fully clean it and get soapy water out. The top of the machine is difficult to pour into too, mostly because of that weird lip on the pot. Also, it has only been a few months and the bottom of the pot drips as I pour it now.

  23. Ruth

My son gifted us this sleek looking coffee pot. Love the look, but somewhat disappointed that the coffee is not hot. Every morning I pour 2 cups of water and run it, then fill it and brew the coffee, it comes out a little hot, but not to our liking! Disappointed that I didn’t return it on time, it was over a hundred dollars and now my husband wants me to replace it.

  24. robinf

Doesn’t keep the coffee hot. Doesn’t show the time when off.

  25. Manny

My Wife loves coffee. She is picky about his coffee. She likes to make it himself but he had been making it from an older coffee pot and I wanted to surprise her.

  26. cmaria

Quality product. Stylish and got it at a great sale price.

  27. Speaker

Got this as a Christmas gift for someone!!!!!!!!!!

  28. SheSkisKillington

Beautiful and makes good coffee but well the carafe is gorgeous it doesn’t really keep the coffee hot and you never know how much is inside because there’s no gauge on it and it’s very hard to wash out because of the lip the water stays right in there.. Additionally there’s only a tiny space so it’s kind of hard to fill. Bottom line is it’s not real easy to use but it is beautiful and it makes delicious coffee with the bold button. Mine just suddenly stopped working though after about two weeks so I don’t know if that was just a glitch

  29. Guywhowantedcoffee

After one use it stopped brewing. Power worked. Lights came on but no brewing.

  30. Abhinab

Love this Coffee maker. I was using glass pot but this steel pot is awesome. Sleek design.

  31. Fr33bird

The coffee maker is attractive. First cup of coffee has a good taste. The warmer does not remain on, so the 2nd cup is lukewarm.

  32. Tana

This coffee maker makes good coffee! With that said, I must say that the carafe is extremely heavy… Although it does keep coffee hot all day long. My biggest complaint is that where a heating unit would be at the base of the carafe… But in this model doesn’t get hot, has rusted. I don’t understand why as it is not wet, doesn’t get wet, and there’s no reason for it to rust. It was quite a bit of money and I don’t feel that for what I paid, it was worth it.

  33. HarryR

Sturdy, easy to use, easy to set up. The reusable coffee filter is a great touch. Coffee brews as expected and the thermal carafe keeps it hot for quite a while (I think the 2 hour rating is conservative.)

Ergonomics: Water fill placement is not convenient, it is in the back meaning the top lid has to open fully; its height puts the fill/coffee lid right at cabinet height, so the lid won’t open when under a cabinet, it has to be moved out to fill; when placed where it has room to open (a 90 degree right turn), the water level guide faces the backsplash, so it is not visible when filling.

  34. Otterbox

This coffee maker is awesome. You can set a timer and wake up to a hot pot of coffee.

  35. LocalDougy

I returned it because of the carafe. You have to turn it more than 90 degrees to pour out the coffee, it’s awkward and potentially dangerous if the lid comes off and spills hot coffee everywhere.

  36. Gonzalez

I love my new coffee maker easy to use the aluminum jug is good to be no worrie about glass.

  37. newyorker

brews fine coffee, stays warm. attractive and right-sized for small kitchen. simple, efficient design, readable clock. some issues with carafe pour-ability and reservoir filling, but all brands seem to struggle with these points. great purchase.

  38. Throwback

Great purchase! I like the carafe that is stainless steel. Brews coffee quickly and keeps it at great temperature.

  39. DanW

It was a great Christmas gift. My son loves it. Makes great coffee every tine.

  40. jerry

Love the look, sleek design, looks great on the counter, and easy to use.

  41. Coffee

Works as it should. Keeps coffee hot for a few hrs. Bought it for an off grid cabin so the generator didnt have to work hard for so long on reheat cycles.
Cons: hard to empty the pot and clean it with such a small removable lid

  42. Stove

Pot has a bad design with a lip that makes you have too tip the pot up side down to empty it so use a different container to fill the water tank.

  43. VVPA

Looks really Neat .Especially the stainless steel one.

  44. Nena4

I bought it for my husband mother she loves that. When she woke up the coffee ia ready to serve:) its amazing.

  45. spqr

Nice, easy to use 10 cup coffee maker. Only drawback some may find is the rim when pouring coffee. Its design makes it somewhat difficult to empty the pot. However, that is off set by the metal carafe…no broken glass. It holds temperature well. Easy to clean. Has permanent filter.

  46. Snowigo

I am very happy with this coffee maker. The carafe is easy to clean and keeps the coffee hot, not just warm. I particularly like the option to have “bold” coffee, since I like mine stong .

  47. TruthBTold

Quiet, fast, works good. Only complaint, the design of the lid hinge makes refilling the water tank a little difficult, and prone to splash. Uses Cone #4 filters.

  48. Yellowbird56

Coffee grounds in every cup after it worked okay for a year. Still very hard to pour water into from day one and then after a year it starts shooting the water out so fast you get coffee grounds in every single brew. I hate this machine. Don’t waste your money, it’s absolute garbage.

  49. Aron

First died about 6 months after original purchase, and received a second unit under warranty. This next one died just a little over a year later (so no longer under warranty). Both had the exact same issue, the pump mechanism suddenly stopped working completely. This was despite regular cleaning and also confirming there was no clog in the intake. For a very simple appliance that should last for 5-10 years minimum this is a clear stay away!

  50. Angie

I did not like the way I had to pour my coffee from this particular carafe. Also prefer a heat element.
